TAURITANIA SWEARS IN FIRST ELECTED GOVERNMENT
Despite Opposition, Micolau Ardions Becomes the First "Prime Minister" of Tauritania.

It was certainly a sight to see in the streets of the capital city of the newly created “Commonwealth of Tauritania.” The capital city, which bares the same name of the Commonwealth, found its streets packed with citizens waving the red and gold flag of the Bull as a parade procession slowly moved down the Avinguda del Poble. The parade moved around the Monument of Heroes, opened only a year ago, to commemorate the lives lost in the Great War. Normally a sober affair, the monument was surrounded by a jovial crowd that erupted into a frenzy of applause as the man of the hour stepped out from the gleaming white Barran B Torpedo.

Micolau Ardions walked up the monument and laid a wreath at its base, near the eternal flame. He bowed his head in a moment of silence, which seemed pointless from the exuberance of the crowd, before turning back to his vehicle. He made good care to not show a smile or wave until he was inside the vehicle and the moment was once more appropriate.

The people of Tauritania today have every reason to celebrate. 24 de Caloremes CI is historic in that it makes the very first Head of Government for a Constituent Community not directly selected by the President and affirmed by the National Court. Indeed, Ardions – stylizing himself as “Prime Minister of Tauritania” – is the first democratically elected leader since the passage of the Tauritania Autonomy Statute of XCIX | 1919. One hundred years after the people of Auraria overthrew the shackles of the Calderón Monarchy, the Tauritanians celebrate a revolution of their own.

“Today is a day of celebration that belongs to no man,” the proclaimed Prime Minister stated before the assembled body of the Tauritanian Parliament “This day actualizes, in perpetuity, the special relationship and circumstance of the Tauritanian people in the Aurarine Republic. The right of our people to our affairs is bound forever in our allegiance and loyalty to the Republic. A new beginning is upon us.”

Undoubtedly there are those who scoff at the idea of in perpetuity, none less so than President Ignacio Zabarán himself. Hundreds of kilometers away while sitting in the guided halls of Marisela Palace, no doubt the Aurarine President sees the inauguration of Mr. Ardions in an entirely different light. Not least so due to his stunted pride when the Council of State delivered him a substantial defeat only months ago as he tried to delay the implementation of the Autonomy Statute. The President’s failure to stop it was a campaign promise broken.

“It cannot be reasoned that the Statute of Autonomy passed by the National Court and promulgated by the President of the Republic can be revoked by stroke of pen on the whim of future Presidents. To do so, or to find such an act within the realm of the law, defeats the purpose of responsible government and negates the power of the separate organs of government granted to them by the Constitution itself,” so said the Council as it denied the President’s attempts to stop the Tauritanian Government from being sworn in.

“His Excellency, President Ignacio Zabarán serves as the President of the Commonwealth, but more importantly President of the Republic,” said Mr. Ardions on the topic “The powers granted to Tauritania are not in opposition to the President but rather in addition to the promise of the Republic that the president is duty bound to guarantee.”

President Zabarán has issued a statement that his Office will respect the determination of the Council of State and will not further impede the process. As a sign of good faith, the President and Prime Minister have agreed to meet “in short time” to discuss the new arrangement and further build a more perfect republic. While it remains to be seen what sort of relationship President Zabarán and Mr. Ardions will have as time goes on, and certainly speculation runs abound, neither are ignorant of the unprecedented nature of their roles and the powerful impact their actions will have for the future.

Those conversations will come in time, but for now, Mr. Ardions and the People of Tauritania shall celebrate the actualization of their dreams.

The Knights of St. Joseph congratulate the autonomous Tauritanian Commonwealth and join in their joyous celebrations, all the while praying for continued peace, prosperity, and partnership between Tauritania and Solis as they establish a more perfect union for their people. It is encouraging that His Excellency, President Ignacio Zabarán, has been so gracious in his acknowledgement of the will of the Tauritanian people, and such grace and humility will bring him and all of the Aurarine people the grace of Christ the Liberator for years to come.

We remain, Brothers and Sisters in Christ the Liberator,
Knight Chancellor Orlando Blanco
Knight Commander of Foreign Affairs

The government of the United States of Corrientes is elated to see that the tensions between the provincial authorities of Tauritania and the central government of Solis are to ease now that a compromise has been reached and devolution has been accepted as a state of fact, offering the Tauritanians the chance to take a more hands on approach on their local governance.

We are happy to see that our sister republic, Auraria managed to avoid the potential political, economic and even military issues and consequential violence that might have risen should the government in Solis had not listen to the voice of the Taurianians and the latter would have felt the need to resort to violence. We do condemn such escalation and thus we are very happy to see that the Aurarian government has managed to find a middle way between it's national integrity and the aspirations of the local authorities.

We believe that a federal system of governance is the best suited for the Aurosphere as its member nations are pluri-national and many of their provinces have their own particularities, but a line must be drawn between this and separatism and for that we commend the Aurarian government for choosing devolution as their policy.

Signed and Sealed

The Republic of Cathiopia welcomes the resumption of cordial relations between the Commonwealth of Tauritania and the central Aurarian government in Solis. Peace and stability must be the ultimate priority of all nations given the horrors of the last great war.
