Central mountains of the big island...

In the jungle-covered mountains of what the locals simply refer to as "the big island", people can, and often do, disappear. If you speak out against El Presidente, you are going to vanish one way or the other, so many choose to simply do it on their own terms. A few of these vanished peoples have managed to collect in a small valley nestled in the protective peaks of the central mountains. Together, they offer what little resistance there is against El Presidente Juan Areillos. And they have chosen to resist by fighting fire with fire. Their first step - a propaganda machine, to "turn the minds of the people back on, so that they may truly see the evil that looms over them". So they decided to print a newspaper.

Sergio Tulon was the leader of this project. While there was no leader of the resistance in the traditional sense, many took his word as gospel in these trying times, and he was at least the glue that held these ragtags together in their struggle against the oppressor. It was his idea that they write a newspaper, and so here they all were. Some thirty guerrillas fighting the good fight.

LA VERDAD​

People of Soledad de Pacifica - you are being lied to. El "Presidente" is a despot who would kill you as soon as look at you. He has sold you all into slavery to feed his corporate overlord's lust for money. He bleeds us all dry of our beautiful country and our abundant resources to line his own pockets and to turn a profit for some foreign piglets suckling at the teet of our nation. We are your only hope for freedom from this tyrant. We shall fight his cruelty with the truth and with a passion for freedom not seen in this country in many decades. And here, in this very print, we shall tell you the truth of his corrupt regime, and tell the glorious tales of your heroic fighters, who will face the evils of El Presidente's insidious reign.

Keep a watchful eye out for us, the rebels who fight for you. Help us in any way you can. Together, we all can free this great land from the monstrous junta which rules over us all.

The first article. It would be distributed during the nights to follow. Every major population center would see that there are those who would fight against evil, and they will rise with a singular will to fight with the resistance.

At least, that is what Sergio dearly hoped.
