Government signs aid to Loago as refugees from Al-Magrab and Hajr begin to arrive

President Olivia Harper Poole has signed an executive bill offering Loago 50 million Natalian Dollars to prepare as the shockwaves from the imperialist war in Al-Magrab and Hajr reach the South Western fringes of Himyar. The financial aid to Loago is to supposedly aid the Loagan authorities cope with the arrival of refugees, aiding in the building of modular housing, and offering food and supplies to them without straining the already problematic budget issues of the United Republic of Loago. At the same time, the honourable Demetria Unathi Vavi, the leader of the opposition, has been criticising the government, stating that the bill offers only "recommendations" as to what must be done with the money, not directives, meaning that much of it might be syphoned off.

The war in Al-Magrab and Hajr, which has been dubbed the "Great Himyari War" by Natalian media, has shocked the country, as nobody believed that in the 21st century, there could still be such instances of neo-colonialist imperialist wars. Condemnation was unanimous against the Holy Frankish Empire and the Tsardom of Tarusa, but the participation of Scanians has been an extremely divisive issue. Natalians have been torn apart, some being apologetic towards the Scanians, whom they see as resorting to cooperation with Tarusa to try to occupy as much as Hajr and Al-Magrab so as to not be fully occupied by the imperialists, while others outright condemning them, accusing them of turning their backs on liberty and post-delegationism, returning to 19th century politics of statism, racism, colonialism and imperialism.

The government of Olivia Harper Poole and the Hyenas has as of yet condemned the war of aggression, attacking both Tarusa and the Frankish Empire for it, but in regards to the Scanlaw it has been much more restrained. Camp Hill has announced multiple times that it is open to receiving refugees from the war zone, but the authorities have been accused of saying one thing and doing the exact opposite. Demetria Unathi Vavi and the Hippos have attacked the government for preparing to do anything possible to see the refugees go no further than the Central Himyari Republic or at worst, Loago, with very little preparations being done in Natal itself for this.

"There has been some criticism against my cabinet for its policies, but it must be understood that we are doing everything we can to aid the refugees. That is why we have ordered the 3,000 soldiers we have from the Blue Legion in Central Himyar to aid the government there in building refugee camps and helping with the logistics, and that is why now we are offering the Loagans financial aid to sort out their own refugee facilities. These are not, as some have stated, plans for us to try and reduce the number of refugees in Natal itself to a minimum, but rather a very well organised plan to act in solidarity with the victims of the war in a Pan-Himyari way. The nightmare scenario would be if the infrastructure of Central Himyar or Loago collapses because of the waves of refugees, creating great problems for the native people too, which will lead to bouts of xenophobia and attacks. We must all aid them," stated President Olivia Harper Poole.

OTHER NEWS
Shosholoza derailment:
The Shosholoza Intercity Service from Parow to Sigwe, the capital city of Mutamba has derailed about 30 kilometres from the between Natal and Mutamba. There have been no victims of the event, but the rail circulation between the two countries is now blocked. The travellers have been taken by busses provided by Shosholoza Meyl to their destination and it is believed that by tomorrow morning, the traffic will return to normal.
Oil price rise calms down but carries on: The initial panic that came with the beginning of the war in Himyar has brought the Meridian Oil price to a historic 105EM per barrel, something which hasn't been seen for 20 years. Even so, immediate news of Pelasgia ordering an increase of production, has managed to calm things down, even just a day later, the prices started rising again as Tarusa and the Scanlaw announced a decrease in production, for "maintenance" reasons, something that they have both been criticised of, as they are seen as manipulating the prices. The recent statements from the Anti-State, which has announced that it will increase production should the prices continue to rise, together with the dissent observed in Scania, thanks to the common sense observed in the politics of Metsamaa, has calmed things down for a bit, but there is still a slight increase observed, as the Meridian Oil Price today has risen to 109EM per barrel.
Now playing on Coogee Street: "A Very Natalian Dramedy" is set to premiere at the Studio Theatre on Coogee Street. The musical makes fun of the way the people from the Republic of Lower Natal and Harton especially are seen as snobs and drama queens and is just another one of the many typical theatre plays in which the Natalians mock themselves, from which, one critic has stated "they made a work of art".

Nation celebrates two years since the adoption of the PD inspired constitution

The 24th of May has been declared a national holiday in the Union of Natal two years ago, as it became the first day in which the new constitution, with strong Post-Delegationist elements has been adopted by the nation. Since 2020, the day has been declared non-working, and has been dubbed "Democracy Day".

The new constitution has been adopted in 2020 and represents for many the codifying of the Inkundla e-gov system into the democratic apparatus of the nation. The Inkundla is an ancient system seen in the lands of modern day Natal since antiquity, as the Rozvi, Mbunda and Loda traditional societies were based on it. Even if they were monarchies, the inkundla had primacy, representing the general assembly of the people, who were voting on certain aspects and issues, in the Mbunda society going further, become an ancient version of a modern day jury seen in the judicial system. While the system became obsolete as the Himyari kingdoms were disbanded when the Engell Himyari Company colonised Natal, it became an integral part to the cultural memory of the nation, showcasing the democratic traditions of the peoples of South Western Himyar.

In 2018, under the Hippo government of Adrianne Stone, Inkundla returned, nowadays as a modern system, offering an electronic form of governance and democracy, as a system where citizens of Natal can cast votes in referendums pertaining to certain policies, or sign petitions, which people citizen initiatives, forcing the legislative to debate them and turn them into bills. As of yet, the system hasn't been developed further to see how it can act by fully adding the voting features to it, especially at a federal levels, but at the next local elections, there is a pilot program for the cities of Harton, Camp Hill, Parow, Blackmere and Mzuzu to provide an enhancement of the Inkundla system so that the citizens can electronically vote in those elections too. Should the system be declared a success, then it can easily be spread out to the rest of the Union.

While the constitution of Natal openly states in its preamble that is has adopted certain post-delegationist elements to it, it is still very much debatable, as mostly the academia, and some pundits in Touzen and Scanlaw openly stated that the Union is on its path towards Post-Delegationism, albeit there still is a long way to go, local Natalians see Post-Delegationism more like an import from the far east and far north, and see the current system as a modernisation of the traditional political system of Himyar, based on a form of primitive consensual democracy. That is also why, many style it as Civism, a political thought based on the respect of democracy, personal freedoms, but also, very important, solidarity between the members of the nation.

"Two years ago, we have voted and succeeded in adopting what we see as our own style of political administration and governance. Direct Democracy, friendship, unity and progress is what we called for and people people responded with a resounding yes, supporting all those changes. In 2020, we managed to shed the last remnants of colonial Engell company rule, which saw the citizens of Natal as being unable to think for themselves, creating a form of indirect rule. Now, it is up for Natal to shine as a beacon of freedom and democracy in Himyar," stated President Olivia Harper Poole.

OTHER NEWS
NATALIAN SUN TO AID REFUGEES:
With the colonial war in Hajr and Al-Magrab still continuing, the governmental charity association Natalian Sun has announced that it will aid the refugees arriving in Central Himyar, Azraq, Loago and Mutamba, so that the ones fleeing from the terror of the war can be kept safe and sound, without creating a continental wide crisis. Camp Hill is in talks with Jugol on the subject of the war and the crisis, with preparations being done to aid Azraq too.
ANTI-IMPERIALIST PROTESTERS: Protesters and demonstrators have marched in Camp Hill last weekend, with more than 25,000 people participating, in front of the Embassies of Tarusa, the HFE and the Scanlaw, chanting against their aggressive warmongering policy. The protesters accused them of neo-crusaderism, neo-imperialism and neo-colonialism, with the Camp Hill based Noks government in exile joining too, calling for the liberation of the Nokslands from Tarusan yoke.

June Blackburn:
We are back! You are listening June in the Morning with June Blackburn on NaBC. Those are today's main news.

*Male voice takes over*

Rolling blackouts are set to begin again this weekend after more than two years of the Ministry of Energy stating that infrastructure investments made Natal push through such periods. For five ours at night starting at 1am, with the exception of public lightning, which has been decreed to be a safety issue, the main cities of Natal will see this weekend no electric usage, as part of the national program to save energy, in the wake of the extreme rises in oil and gas, caused by the war in Himyar, the creation of the Association of Oil Producing States and the economic war between Tarusa and Tianlong. While the previous investments have seen the opening of two new nuclear reactors, brigning the George NPP to a total of five and making it Himyar's biggest, together with a geothermal plant in Ashhall and a field of solar electric panels around Mzuzu, the governmental decree which oversees the energy and fuel saving measures anounced that electric and thermal plans running on oil and gas will function at a minimum, but will not be converted to run on coal or HFO because of the new environmental standards of the Ministry of Environment. The government has announced that it will plan to expand on nuclear, wind, solar and geothermal energy in the future, but blackouts at night will continue for the time being.

The Federal Bureau of Statistics has announced that since the war in Himyar has started, about 300,000 refugees have been given safe haven in Natal, Loago and Mutamba, with 200,000 being taken in by Natal, 70,000 by Loago and 30,000 by Mutamba. Low numbers have been seen in the Dune Sea too, numbering no more than 20,000. Chief Minister Demetria Unathi Vavi has announced that the governments works hard to fully integrate these people in the economy, so as to be sure that the state is not being overwhelmed by the war which at the moment has exacerbated the plight of the Uroduah people living in Hajr and Al-Magrab. Continuous investment in the border wall between Natal and Loago and an expansion of up to three times of the manpower of the Border Guards has seen the "Porous Border Crisis" come to an end, with a total of nearly half a million illegal migrants being sent back into Mutamba, Loago or the Dune Sea. While in the past, the Natalian society has been very tense in regarding to the increasing number of migrants entering the Federation, the war in northern Himyar has struck a cord in many and there have been countless volunteer actions to aid Uroduah refugees who are reaching the border of the Federation, with many Natalians welcoming them.

***

Natalian teams have failed to qualify to the knockout stage of the Cedar Cup, in what has been seen as the greatest failure in the history of sports in the Commonwealth. While they managed some victories in their last matches, the Harton Cougars, Taima Braves and the Blackmere Gators have underperformed greatly, all of them ending on the last place of their groups, in what has been described as the greatest upset in Natalian sports. The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youths announced that they will begin an investigation as to what has happened and how it was possible for the teams to underperform to this level considering that theyhad the privilege of having some of the world's best infrastructure. Anthony Moore, the lead coach of the Harton Cougars has already announced that he will resign as he sees it as a personal defeat and a failure of his to make the team shine. The greatest disappointment came especially from the Cougars who barely won a match out of the three group matches they played, even if they were seen as the favourites to even win the Cedar Cup.

General Dayo Yetunde, the president of the United Republic of Loago, known for his bombastic appearances and lack of filter has organised yet another show at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Maseru, where he participated for the mass sermon. Allegedly being incognito, he was recognised by the local priest at the end of the sermon and called to the pulpit to say a few words regarding the current state of affairs in Himyar and of Loago. General Yetunde has gladly joined the priest and started one of his usual rants, this time attacking the Scanians, Tarusans and Franks for their war in Himyar. The general called the three Gallo-Germanian powers out for covering an imperialistic action for wealth and resource seeking behind a racist colonial action. "They act like we in Himyar can't organise ourselves, and we need the poor white man, who is so exhausted having to teach the whole world how to live, to come and do the clean up. It's clear that they just want the oil beneath the sands, and then they will impose their foreign ideas of absolutism, democracy and post-delegationism on us, as if we are a bunch of dimwits incapable of governing ourselves. I do wonder if what is left behind them will be a tropical Gallo-Germania or will it be a hell hole like the Noks Free State. I'm telling you all, they are all here to enslave us and we need to resist!" stated General Yetunde. Usually, most of his rants are tied very closely to conspiracy theories, some calling him the Himyari version of President Jose Constanza.

***

June Blackburn: Daaaaaaaamn, General Yetunde knows how to tell the truth, and doesn't even care of covering his own tracks... Even so, I am quite sad that the blackouts are set to return, as I was really looking forward to party tomorrow night on the Hartonite Seafront... Before we move forward, I promised you some more Metrorail stories and this morning, because I was in a rush, I quickly made a toast, put some butter on it and stormed out of my apartment, thinking I'll be eating it on the train. Funnily, me being myself, I managed to drop the slice of bread on the rail tracks and rat came out of nowhere and disappeared under the platform with it. I'm just happy nobody filmed it, as I didn't wanted to become one of those goofy virals.

Oryx Security PMC awarded contract in Hajr

Oryx Security, Himyar's biggest private military company, has announced that it signed a contract with Scanian authorities to police the areas of Hajr which have been under military administration, after the end of the post-Mandate polity of the region. Oryx Security has been founded by UDF veteran Lloyd Blake in 1970, during the Natalian Emergency, with the government fighting against Nethian nationalist and communist guerrillas. Many saw the group as a mercenary company which has been used by Camp Hill for its dirtiest of actions so as to not have state institutions tainted by it.

Oryx Security also had a series of controversies as they have allegedly helped General Dayo Yetunde take over Loago as a military dictator, but as of yet, none of those theories have proved to be true. The organisation currently stands at a total of 5,000 contractors, while also owning 35 Redcat reconnaissance vehicles and 50 Ratel APCs, 2 Correntine Super Condor fighter planes and 5 transport helicopters. It is expected that more than 3,500 of them together with much of their equipment will be moved to Hajr to aid the Scanians in policing the region, while also fighting against any form of guerrilla resistance.

Nationalists burn red banner in Mzuzu

The Rhinos, a Nethian nationalist organisation has organised a demonstration in Mzuzu, capital of the Rozvi State, calling for the creation of a Natalian Republic, fully independent from Great Engellex, with a local head of state. The demonstration turned sour after a series of extremists have started burning the red banners of Natal in the Jacaranda Square in the city, with the police intervening at that moment.

There were concerns that the Police Service's intervention might lead to a generalised fight, but the swift operation in which the policemen isolated and arrested agitators have managed to keep the rest of the demonstration civil. The organisers have announced that don't wish for violence, but rather a continuation of the process of Natal gaining its total independence, which has started in 1940, but since 1970, with the signing of the current constitution has been stagnating.

Storm Declan leaves more than 100,000 people without power

  • Extratropical cyclone 'Declan' hits the Haida Sound, affecting mainly Harton and Cedar City
  • More than 100,000 people left without power and 35 dead
  • Landslides affect settlement on the Gran Foothills
Usually hitting in the latter half of the year, the Implarian North-Western Windstorm season has started strongly with Storm Declan which has hit the central coast of Natal strongly, affecting the biggest urban agglomerations of the Constitutional State. Bad weather has been reported all along the Natalian coast, with shipping suspended for safety reasons, as Storm Declan has formed in the area of the Implarian Gulf (the nation of Implaria, that is) and has travelled up north, wreaking havoc on the western coasts of Westernesse. Initial reports stated that they it has been expected for storm Declan to hit the coast of Oneida, but as it travelled much more to the north, it hit not Thunder Bay (Oneida) as expected, but rather Thorp, Cedar City and Harton. The people on Cypress Island expected to receive the full force of the windstorm, but it seemed that as much as they were hit by strong rainfall, the storm surget even more north of the island before it hit the Haida Sound and the Greater Harton Area.

As the main city of Natal, the authorities have always prepared for any impending issue in the Greater Harton Area, and the city's infrastructure has managed to resist the strong winds and the significant rainfall, with no blackouts reported in the city, with the exception of the suspension of the Ferry Services in the Area and the commuter railway. The same cannot be said on the rural areas of the Lower Natal State, as rising waters of the homonymous river, have flooded hundreds of houses, leaving 35 dead and more than 100,000 without electricity on the Lower Natal Valley, affecting 20 to 25 settlements.

More than that, the strong rains in the Granite Mountains have saturated the soil with water, causing a series of landslides in the Gran Foothills on the western slopes of the Granite Mountains. The sedimentary hills, which have also been subjected to a long time criticised campaign of lax regulation regarding deforestation have led to landslides which have destroyed about 100 miles of roads, tens of homesteads and 80 miles of railway. No victims have been reported yet and a modular system of transportation has been set up, with busses taking over stranded train passengers.

"Natal resists. We have never been taken by surprise by such windstorms, but this time, it is not the storm, but the period it happened is what surprised us. We expected such storms to start in about a month's time, making Storm Declan to be the earliest North-Western Windstorm in recorded meteorology. Even so, it's usually the first storm of the season which shocks us and prepares us for the rest of the season. The government of the Constitutional State is here to aid and provide for its citizens and we will work to bring back the necessary infrastructure to all affected communities and prepare for what is to come," stated President Brad Ross, as he visited an emergency refuge camp in the Camp Hill metropolitan area.

With average wind gusts of 60 mph, Storm Declan has been categorised as Major, with storms like this taking place once every 2-3 years. It has long been a typical element of this to criticise the lack of preparation of the Natalian authorities, which always seemed to have been taken by surprise by the windstorms of the autumn, but for the first time in recent decades, the emergency services and the government were commended that they managed to prepare for such events, and have managed to keep the infrastructure of the big cities like Harton, Thorp, Cedar City or the Cypress island functional.

OIL PRICES GO DOWN AS BLOWOUT GETS SORTED:: The blowout which has affected the Scanian oil production in the Gothic Sea seems to have been sorted by the international Post-Delegationist cooperation between the Westermen and the Scanians, something that has proved that the oil supply is set to be unaffected by such accidents, giving investors hope in the future developments of the markets and leading to a reduction of oil prices for fuel. Recently, prices have stabilised at about EM95 per barrel. The markets getting used to the recent events have calmed down the fluctuations of fuel prices, with the maximum of EM120 never being reached since the Anti-State promised to increase oil production if it ever reaches such levels again.

Coyotes take Coombs House in Presidential Election
  • Dorian Thornton to become first black president of Natal
  • Historical turnout, nearing 89% of everyone eligible to vote
  • Thornton won by 55% to Brad Ross' 45%
After a very long campaign which lasted much of the summer and the first month of autumn, the Natalians have finally come for the vote, enjoying the electoral amenities modern technology offers them: in-person voting, mail in voting and the e-Citizen electronic voting system, which is used for the first time in such an important election, usually being reserved only for local elections and referenda.

The Presidential Elections have been an extraordinary event this year, only two years after the previous ones, as they were organised to elect a successor to Olivia Harper Poole, Natal's late president, which was assassinated in a terrorist attack in Kremlyov, which has also taken the life of the Tarusan Tsar. In the primaries that followed, Dorian Thornton, ex-Mayor of Morehead and then member of the States' Assembly for the State of Longfield, has managed to become the main candidate of the Coyotes, gaining the support of the liberal Cougars and the Socialist Beavers too, whereas the Roadrunners were represented by Bradley 'Brad' Ross, president of Natal between 2016 and 2020.

The official counting has been finished this morning with the final tally being reported by the Central Electoral Bureau, showing the victory of coyote Dorian Thornton over roadrunner Brad Ross, by nearly 10% of the votes. The former gained nearly 55% of the votes, while the latter about 45%. The turnout has been historically high, nearing 89% of the persons eligible to vote. This can be explained by the easing of the voting process, especially for the much more technologically literate younger population, many preferring to cast their vote through the e-Citizen platform, instead of waiting in lines for the physical voting. Statistics show that without this system, the turnout would have been 30% lower.

Thornton's victory, as much as it is historical, as the first president of Himyari heritage in Natal, will also pave the way to a quite complicated administration, as the Coyotes have the hegemony of the lower house, but the Roadrunners are leading the States' Assembly, the upper house of the congress, which will mean that there will be a lot of negotiations and compromise needed to pass bills into law, and that the Coyotes will have to take into account the aspirations and wishes of the Roadrunners too, unless they want to block the administrative process.

"It is a great victory for the people of Natal. I wish to thank all my supporters and to promise them that the heritage of President OHP will be kept. I call for the voters of my opponent, Brad Ross, to keep an open mind and understand that we are here not only for the Coyotes and their supporters or for the coastal areas, but rather for everyone in the United Republic of Natal, irrespective of their political support, their social strata or their geographic position. We are here to work together in providing a template for the people of Natal, within which they can lead a healthy, long, and prosperous life. In the end, it is only with compromise that we can all advance as we understand that in the end, we have the same goal, which is to have a great Natal for us and for our children!" stated Dorian Thornton in his speech.

OTHER NEWS
VOTING PROCESS WENT ON DESPITE STORM DECLAN:
The voting process has continued with no issues on the coastal areas despite the issues brought by Storm Declan. Electricity has been restored to many parts of the country and in the areas where settlements were devastated by the landslides on the foothills of the Grans, temporary voting booths have been set up in the refugee camps. The Central Electoral Bureau has congratulated the authorities of the State of Granite for their fast response and competent organisation.
CHRISTMAS TREE GROWERS PREDICT HIGH SUPPLY THIS SEASON: With Christmas approaching, initial fears from this spring that there will be a lack of supply of christmas trees have been alleviated by the last report of the Christmas Tree Growers Association, which has predicted a 15% increase in supply from last year, which they expect to lead to lower prices, as there won't be a need to import them from the Federation of Westernesse.

THORP MAYOR ACCUSED OF HITTING A MAN WITH A RAKE ADMID STORM DECLAN CLEANUP: Riley Berry, the Mayor of Thorp has been arrested after a conflict arose between him and another man during the city's cleanup operations in the aftermath of Storm Declan. It has been reported that they mayor his the man with the rake he was caring. It seems that there was a previous conflict between the two. The man did not need any hospitalisation.

We congratulate President Elect Thornton on his historical victory in the presidential election in Natal. Despite the ravages of Storm Declan, the determination of the Natalian people to exercise their right to vote is noteworthy. However, we must also praise the efforts of the administrative machinery in Natal and the election authorities which ensured such a robust effort in the State of Granite.

Rise in anti-Toyounese violence reported in Kirkland and Implaria States

Rise in anti-Toyounese sentiments have been observed in the States of Kirkland and Implaria, the two most populous coastal states, hosting the cities of Blackmere and Harton. Such xenophobic views have been born in the latter half of the 19th century, when more and more Touzeni and Tianese immigrants started arriving in Harton, in the Implarian Republic at the time, before it united with the Granite Confederation to form the modern day United Republic of Natal. Back then, initial immigration laws were lax to raise the population of the very young republics, but the boom of Toyounese immigration has brought on discrimination and a Gallo-Germanian only policy for the Implarian republic, which blocked immigration of non-whites until the abolition of the bill in 1890, when the United Republic was proclaimed.

Toyounese-Natalians are the biggest minority in the United Republic, and while their status has greatly improved since the 19th century, with the greatest steps in juridical equality taking place in the 1950s, and nowadays, more than 80% of the population of Natal considered in the last poll that racial discrimination is unforgivable, there still are many incidents and racist episodes taking place. The 1970s have brought some of the largest anti-Toyousese episodes by far, with a series of riots organised by the Patriotic Grizzly Front, a far right group espousing strong support for protestant christianity and the engell identity of Natalians, while condemning Toyounese immigration, socialism, communism, and even anti-catholicism. The PGF, or the Grizzlies, as they were known, have been going through a nadir in the 80s and 90s, with membership going as low as 300 members in total, until recently.

The development of the internet and of social media apps like twatter have brought forth a rise in support as new channels of communications were capitalised by the Grizzlies in their campaigns, gaining a lot of support not only from Natal, but also in Oneida and the Federation of Westernesse. Reports of attacks have been popping up this summer, with the National Day of Toyounese-Natalians, on the 3rd of July, being the scene of a shooting, whose only victim was the perpetrator, as the police on the scene quickly responded. Vandalism and other verbal abuses were reported in Harton and Blackmere, and many online forums where such attacks were incited were taken down if they had the .na domain. Police even raided a safehouse where they confiscated assault rifles and explosives, which led to a shooting where a policeman and three terrorists were wounded.

While there is more and more societal pressure on the authorities to finally put an end by banning the movement, the authorities yet stated that there is no evidence that the movement specifically ordered the attacks. The leader of the Grizzlies, Mason Chambers, a veteran of the armed forces and an expelled member of the Roadrunner party, has always stated that the movement's role is to put pressure on politicians to bring a reform in the immigration system and close the borders, but never to attack minority groups or to break the law. In the same way, in none of the places the police raided, were there elements to show affiliation to the group.

"We are fighting against this tide of rising discrimination and Toyouphobia, which seems to be stemming from online incitement emanating from the Patriotic Grizzly Front, which espouses anti-Tianese, Touzenese and Karzasy sentiments, using slurs to address them and for promoting racist theories, which go as far as a replacement theory which supports the idea that the Toyounese peoples would overwhelm westernesse through immigration and neo-colonialism. What we have also observed is that since the cold war between Tianlong and Tarusa has started, attacks on Tianese people have intensified. Even so, the police service is here to make sure that such despicable acts will not be tolerated and we will fight them," stated Caylee Swanson, spokesperson of the Police Service.

Dorian Thornton inaugurated as President of Natal

  • Dorian Thornton has become the president of Natal
  • Cyrus Black as Vice-President
  • Rabid Coyotes reintegrated in the party
The Congress has met up today in a joint meeting of the Houses of Citizens and the of the States to vote for the inauguration of Dorian Thornton, the first Himyari-Natalian man to become president of the United Republic of Natal. The ceremony, which brought forth an unanimous vote for accepting the results of the Federal Electoral Bureau, has been a quite festive one, with Coyotes, Roadrunners, Beavers and even Ferrets coming together and congratulating the new president of the Republic.

President Thornton has used this opportunity to present his cabinet, naming Cyrus Black, the minister of foreign affairs from the Harper Poole Cabinet as his vice-president, projecting the Granite diplomat into the position of 2nd most powerful man in the state. What also surprised many was his call for the integration of the Rabid Coyotes, the radical faction which has broken off during the primaries, back into the Progressive Federal Party (Coyotes), and doing as far as naming Asher James Becker in the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Thornton held a speech calling for the unity within the nation, and for Natalians to put aside their differences, to come together for the country in trying times in which oil cartels are exploiting the world's dependence for extreme profits. Not only that, but he also outlined a series of energy investments marked by a green thumb such as hydro and nuclear power plants, while also promising to promote the creation of a functional and reliable public transport system, reducing Natal's dependence on car transportation, be it for freight or passengers. The President also promised a balanced foreign policy, holding closest the nations of Westernesse and Occidentia, but also good relations with Tarusa, Tianlong, Pelasgia and Jysken-Ostveg, naming one of the two camps from the Polar Divorce.

"It is the beginning of a new era for Natal. We are now looking back to the efforts we have made to reach the point we are here now and the sacrifices that we have gone through, and we must understand that unless we learn from them, they have been in vain. Looking forward, we must ensure that the life of contemporary Natalians is as its historical best, for the legitimacy of the Natalian dream stands in this progress from good to better, in the peaceful life we enjoy, in the respect we offer the nature and so on. This is what defines us. Openness, hospitality, and not xenophobia and discrimination. We will work together to stamp out elements which threaten our citizens and promise to destroy our way of life. Even so, we must not see the future with such doom and gloom, for Natal will continue to rise and we will work hard to achieve this," stated President Thornton in his speech.

FEARS OF FILIBUSTERING IN HAJR:
Oryx Security, Natal's and probably the western hemisphere's largest PMC has just announced that it received a 5 billion dollar investment from the "Liberty and Civilization" Group, a conservative club made out of Natal's biggest millionaires and billionaires, known for their lobbying of conservative policies, to increase their presence in Hajr and to even start investing in the towns and areas they are guarding. With the war in Hajr now nearing its closing stage, but with no real ending in sight thanks to the Polar Divorce, there are now fears that the Liberty and Civilization Group are using Oryx Security for filibustering, to carve out a part of Hajr, and form a proto-state there in the aftermath of the breakup of the Scanlaw. It is believed that by now, about 10,000 soldiers, forming a regular mechanized division are in Hajr as part of Oryx.
