Kadikistan imposes tariffs on Natalian, Johnstonian and Eiffelloretalian companies
In response to the intensified conflict between Eiffelland-Retalia and Polesia due to the copycatted Folxmashin car models, Kadikistan decided to reduce incentives that Natalian, Johnstonian and Eiffelloretalian companies active in Kadikistan's Economic Free Zones enjoyed. This mainly led to tax increases. The Eiffelloretalian companies currently active in the Kadikistani Economic Free Zones are the Konigliche Eiffelländische Bergbaugesellschaft (KEBG), Manzer Metallurgie, the Bremer Raffineriegesellschaft (BRG), Masscher Goldschmiede and the Rathenau Gruppe. KEBG currently mines oil and metal ores, Manzer has a blast furnace, BRG has a refinery, Masscher mines for gold, silver and gems, and the Rathenau Gruppe has a factory in Kadikistan's Economic Free Zones. The Eiffelloretalian activities in the Kadikistani Free Economic Zones are mainly focused on producing for markets outside Kadikistan, except for the Rathenau Gruppe, which also produces for the Rurikgrad Pact market.
Government starts discussions with Rathenau Gruppe on planned withdrawal from Kadikistani Key Economic Zone
After a 60 year presence in the Klinsk Key Economic Zone in Kadikistan, the Rathenau Gruppe announced in a press release that it will discontinue its activities in Kadikistan. Reasons for this decision were indicated as a "drop in demand for our products in Rurikgrad Pact countries, as well as the tariffs imposed on us by the Kadikistani government".
Rumours indicate, however, that the National Government is currently talking to the board of directors of the Rathenau Gruppe regarding this decision. Reason for this intervention is rumoured to be a fear for a further escalation of the conflict.
Retalia lifts ban on Communist parties
Despite the tense relations between Eiffelland and Kadikistan, the excplicitly Marxist-Leninovist Kommunistische Partei Eiffellands (KPE) has never been forbidden in Eiffelland. Its members were detained during the 2018 war, but it was never forbidden. Actually, no Communist party is forbidden in Eiffelland. There is a Marxist-Sérazinist party, a Trotskist party and since last year a Syndicalist party. These parties are not popular though. The KPE used to have some seats in the Staatstag and in the provincial parliaments, but the increase in tensions until 2018 and the 2018 war caused the KPE to disappear from all parliaments in Eiffelland. Currently the Trotskist Party is the only Communist party that is represented in a parliament: Two seats in Helgoland. But at leas, Communist parties are allowed.
That is different in Retalia. There all Communist parties are forbidden. That is a remnant of the situation from before the unification. Where the Eiffellandian interpretation of free speech allowed the Communist parties to exist, Retalia took the path to ban all parties favouring a dictatorship.
As part of the upcoming constitutional change, the government of Retalia decided to lift the ban on Communist parties. The reason behind this decision is indicated to be the notion that all opinions should be heard, also opinions which conflict with democracy.
Political spectrum reshapes in run-up for constitutional change
Officially, the new country structure has not been turned into law yet. The needed constitutional change still needs to be voted upon by a new parliament. The political spectrum is already changing however. Especially in Retalia, where members of the two largest political parties (the Democratic Union (Conservative) and the Liberal Reform Party (Liberal-Centrist)) are splitting and reuniting to an Eiffellandian model with a centre-right slightly conservative party (Christian-democrats), a Market Liberal party and a Social-Liberal party.
Furthermore, in Eiffelland, the parliamentarians who broke off the Sociodemocratic SPE last year are forming a political party as well: The Pacifist Socialist Democratic Party (PSDP). Like its name indicates, it is a Socialist party which adheres to the parliamentary democracy and advocates pacifism.
A third development is a nation-wide unification of political parties. In Eiffelland, Helgoland and Rügen, there are eight big political currents:
— Christian-Democrats.
— Sociodemocrats.
— Market Liberals.
— Social-Liberals.
— Conservative Christians.
— Environmentalists.
— Far-Rights.
— Communists.
However, the KPE, the far right Volksunion and Grün (the environmentalists) are the only parties that operate in both Continental Eiffelland and Helgoland and Rügen. The five other political currents are represented by distinct political parties in all three country parts.
This is all going to change as well. The political parties from all country parts are uniting, and the parties and factions from Retalia are joining in. These are the political parties that are forming:
— Christian-Democrats: Christlich-Demokratische Partei (CDP) / Partito Christiana Democratica (PCD) / Parti Chrétien-Democrate (PCD).
— Sociodemocrats: Sozial-Demokratische Partei (SDP) / Partito Socialista Democratica (PSD) / Parti Socialiste Democrate (PSD).
— Market Liberals: Union für die Freie Demokratie (UFD) / Unione per la Democratia Libera (UDL) / Union pour la Democratie Libre (UDL).
— Social-Liberals: Liberal-Demokratische Partei (LDP) / Partito Liberale Democratica (PLD) / Parti Libérale Democrate (PLD).
— Conservative Christians: Christliche Verfassungspartei (CVP) / Partito della Constitutione Christiana (PCC) / Parti de la Constitution Chrétienne (PCC).
— Environmentalists: Grün / Verde / Vert.
— Far-Rights: Volksunion (VU) / Unione del Popolo (UP) / Union du Peuple (UP).
— Pacifist-Socialists: Pazifistisch-Sozialistisch-Demokratische Partei (PSDP) / Partito Pacifista Socialista Democratica (PPSD) / Parti Pacifiste Socialiste
Democrate (PPSD).
— Syndicalists: Eiffelloretalische Syndikalistische Partei (ERSP) / Partito Syndicalista Eiffelloretalica (PSER) / Parti Syndicaliste Eiffelloretalien (PSER).
— Marxist-Serazinist: Eiffelloretalische Marxistisch-Serasinistische Partei (ERMSP) / Partito Marxista Serazinista Eiffelloretalica (PMSER) / Parti Marxiste
Séraziniste Eiffellorétalique (PMSER).
— Trotskist: Eiffelloretalische Trotskistische Partei (ERTP) / Partito Trotskista Eiffelloretalica (PTER) / Parti Trotskiste Eiffellorétalique (PTER).
— Post-Delegationist: Eiffelloretalische Antistaatspartei (ERAP) / Partito Antistatale Eiffelloretalica (PAER) / Parti Eiffellorétalique Contre l'Etat (PERCE).
Furthermore, the KPE is discussing about changing its name into "Eiffelloretalische Marxistisch-Leninovistische Partei / Partito Marxista-Leninovista Eiffelloretalica / Parti Marxiste-Leninoviste Eiffellorétalique.
