"The constant shifts in foreign policy from the Chagny regime is as juvinile as it is confusing. One day the imperialist aggressors from Bourgogne speak of peace and cooperation to ensure stability. Even for the die-hard pragmatists and geopolitiks it must be objectively verifiable that Kadikistan, in accordance with both the Treaty of Mutual Friendship, Co-operation and Mutual Assistance and more importantly the Economic Recovery Program are spending great amounts of resources in Milesia, Calidia and Cumbria. Unlike the nation of Bourgogne, which sole investment in Milesia is bombs and bullets that have taken the lives of thousands of innocents, including women and children. We have never denied that we have dismantled certain industries in order to keep them from becoming targets for Burgundian and Ivernish bombers. We will not give the likes of you the pleasure of destroying it yourself, something that clearly agitates the warmongering Chagny elite as shown by this intervention by the Foreign Ministry of Bourgogne.

The fate of the worker and the farmer is our sole priority, regardless of which constructed nationality they belong to. The workers in the People's Republic of Milesia are currently not in the factories, but in the trenches waiting for the coalition of imperialist Bourgogne and fascist Ivernia to initiate yet another bloody offensive in the name of financial greed and the unending power-hunger of the elites. But we are sure the Burgundien 'high society' knows nothing of trenches or even factory work. We wholeheartedly applaud our Markenese friends for taking a strong stance against such politics. Though Gouw Marken only recently started modernizing they have already evolved beyond the Burgundian State."

A few centuries ago the Mendiak Inquisition ruthlessly banned and rounded up all of the Jews within our Mountainous Land - this decision was grave. The accusations by the government in Ivar are frivolous and nearly laughable (were it not for the seriousness). The level of insult by [MENTION=83]Kadikistan[/MENTION] is disturbing as it is a clear marker that the regime in Ivar is becoming as unpredictable and dangerous as Serenierre. Bourgogne has provided food, medical supplies, and educational materials to Ivernish citizens. If the government of Kadikistan truly believes that itself is not acting imperialistically, it should exam a nearby dictionary. If the so called Milesian Republic were to stand, we wonder just how quickly the industrial material would return, if at all. If not, we are sure the material would not return- a case of pure thievery. Ivar would keep the workers of the Milesia poor, unemployed, and depressed out of simple spite and imperialistic self-interest.

Quintus II will soon officially ask Pelasgia to exchange ambassadors, after the unification of the Church in Gouw Marken with the Orthodox Church. It will be necessary to have the opportunity to travel to Propontis for religious reasons and therefor one needs to be able to obtain the necessary papers. A political back-up for religious matters is on the priority list.

The international stage has somehow been shocked by the stance taken by our representatives in the National Assemble. We are surprised as this is the view of the Markenese political movement for decades now. We are one, united country; we will not have minorities coming in and creating a divisive in our society. How would it be possible that those people are loyal to our Prince-Bishop if they do not live up to the piers of his powers.
We express again, and we think it is with the consent of the entire country, that we do not force Jews into our country, that we do not ask them to come and live here, that they are not done any harm whatever by this nation. We only state that, IF they decide to come and live here, they have to adapt. That is all of it. We do not expel Jews, as Gouw Marken is Jew-free. You cannot expel what isn’t there.
And let it be clear, Gouw Marken has done less harm to Jews in history then all those ‘openhearted’ nations that now try to teach us what is moral just and what isn’t. May we ask where they were when our mothers and daughters were starving, when our sons crawled the fields seeking for the last granule? We remember who stood at our side! The Prince-Bishop has read your remarks about the converting of the Jews in Gouw Marken to Orthodox Christianity. He can assure you there is no converting taking place at the moment, as there is no Jewish immigration into the country and there is not a single Jew living in Gouw Marken. To avoid such discussions, our nation clearly states that whoever wants to immigrate has to take the consequences and convert. If not, they might to reconsider the decision to immigrate. It is not a demand put forward after coming in, but before coming in. We expect those who still want to come in, know what is demanded and have considered about it and agreed upon conversion. We are not asking all Jews everywhere to be converted by force. Indeed, to be cleared from their sins, they should convert with all their hearth, all their strength and with full mind.
On the other hand, the Prince-Bishop is a bit surprised by the statement that “the legal power His Eminence the Prince-Bishop has over Gouw Marken in his role of Head of State and Head of Government is separate from his religious function”. Our friends in Eiffelland have been long enough in our country -doing so much for so many- to know the Prince-Bishop is ruler of Gouw Marken because he is bishop of Markstad. Protocol requires us to state that any further distribution of this information beyond said closed group will be considered a hostile act given the delicate content, potentially harmful for the Kadikistani State and the Communist Workers' Party.

It is true that a combination of bad harvests due to infertile soil in the Kadikistani North together with certain other factors have dealt a significant blow to the agrarian capacity of the Democratic Republic of Kadikistan. This in combination with the humanitarian support for our allies, including Gouw Marken, had made it necessary for us to import excessively large amounts of grain from the Empire of Pelasgia. We are however confident that through careful economic planning we can turn the situation around in the following years. Meanwhile we would never ask the Markenese people and it benevolent leader for anything free. If Gouw Marken is able to produce surplus agrarian means than we would gladly decrease our import from Pelasgia in favour of Markenese grain. Either through trade or payment we will reimburse what we own.

Our commitment to the Markenese government and its people remains unchanged and unchallenged. Only if His Eminence deems his own resources and economy strong enough will we accept your offer. We could not bare that the Markenese would have to sell off their reserves. The Winter is hard and far from over, we will not hold it against you if you tend to your own flock before our.

The orthodox world awaits news from the Holy Synod of Bishops. Who will be elected Ecumenical Patriarch. And when will the Prince-Bishop return to Markstad?

Food reserves are sufficient to overcome winter, overstock has to be transformed into local products as cheese, butter, the special farmers-bread and so on. These products will be sent to Kadikistan to promote Gouw Marken agricultural richness and high quality food.

Prince-Bishop Quintus II has appointed Graaf Henricus d’Aghem d’Appels as ambassador to the Empire of [MENTION=1774]Pelasgia[/MENTION]. He is an earl (graaf), old aristocracy, conservative but high in esteem for his prudence and wisdom.

The news reached Markstad at 7.15 local time this morning, and the House Secretary of the Prince-bishop confirmed it at 7.35. Immediately after the news was made public, the biggest bell of the carillon in the Markstad Cathedral tower was tolled. Only on very special occasions this old warning bell is used. In the old days it warned people in the city and surroundings of enemies approaching over sea. Its sound can be heard miles away. Other churches and carillons took over and at 10.15 the news of the election reached the very northeast of the country.
As the Patriarch will be sworn in tomorrow morning, all work has to stop during the ceremony and there will be special services throughout the country.

The House Seretary said Quintus II will, as tradition requires, pro forma resign from all his functions, offer the new Ecumenic Patriarch his resignation to be appointed again by the new elected Holiness as Catholic Patriarch of All Marken in the North. In the old days, the Prince-Bishop offered his resignation to a new elected pope, residing in Tibur, but this tradition was not been followed any more as Tibur and Markstad grew away from each other. Quintus II wants to express his adherence to the old traditions and point out his powers are given by God.

It has to be. Gouw Marken stands in the middle of the battlefield, like a playing child, looking towards the east and the west. Reform of the National Radio Institution

The broadcasting of radio programs in Gouw Marken will be extended within a month with television. This new medium makes it possible to watch someone on stage miles away due to telegraphic signals. For this occasion, the NRI (Nationaal Radio Instituut) will be renamed MRT (Markense Radio en Televisie). The first broadcast will be on Easter Sunday, with a special program including the Prince-Bishop having a speech, from 18.15PM to 19.05PM. The MRT has 75 televisions available for leasing. Signing up is staring by the end of this week. Only a radius of 45km around Markstad-Meersberg (facilities of MRT) can be reached at this time.

The Radio broadcasting will continue as usual, gradually increasing the programs, now from 7.30 to 9.30AM, 11.55AM to 12.40PM (angelus and rosary) and 17.45 to 19.15PM.

On Easter Monday, for the fifth time in a row, the radio will organise the Markense Zangwedstrijd (Markenese Song Contest), with participants selected from all counties in Gouw Marken. A preselection has left 14 candidates for this contest. The contest will be broadcasted on television.

History is a process, not a status quo. We have seen a lot of changes in this country in the past years. After a long procession through the valley of death and mourning, we have seen the light shine upon us again. In those dark hours, we were guided by faith and we experienced the biggest kindness on earth. In the aftermath, our country is still in change. Unfree farmers gained freedom; technology enriched productivity; political reforms are still in progress. Nothing on earth will be there forever.

One of our closest allies, [MENTION=83]Kadikistan[/MENTION], has met change the hard way. The glorious leader Marshall Nikolai Leninov has passed away. He will be remembered as “for his visionary leadership and his function as the most successful Kadikistani statesman”, according to the Provisional People's Commissar for External Affairs. Gouw Marken mourns as well. It was Marshall Leninov who unconditionally chose for the best for our nation. We must honor him in thoughts and prayers.

In this climate of change, the political situation in Kadikistan is unsure. News has reached us that the succession of Marshall Leninov is bringing some tensions. Therefor we have taken some precautional measures. We will follow the situation closely and together with the representatives of clergy, aristocracy and cities we will make sure the interests of both Gouw Marken and Kadikistan will be safe. We are not to judge the internal situation of Kadikistan. The legacy of Marshall Leninov is enormous, and every future statesman in Kadikistan has to recognize this, to fully serve his people. For us, this is a conditio sine qua non.

We once again renew the ties of friendship between our nations and peoples. For reasons of safety the airport will stay closed, and all maritime traffic to Kadikistan is cancelled until further notice. Be aware for foreign individuals wanting to leave for Kadikistan, be careful in speech and gesture: as we have seen in the past spies are everywhere. Gouw Marken wants a stable Kadikistan for a stable world.
