This week in East- and West-Gouw Marken


As the Revolutionary Gothic Fleet sets sail for Oostdijke, Quintus VII had to explain to the public what the status of the Military District east of the city was. Upto now, it is known, but not questioned, that a vast area was under construction to serve for the Kadiki Forces. But the OMD (Oostdijke Militair District) is a given into concession to the Kadiki Army for a period of 99 years in 1992, in the wake of the end of the civil war . The East was seeking for protection and Kadikistan saw an opportunity to help in this matter. The whole district is a sovereign part of Kadikistan within East-Gouw Marken; but the frontier is flexible: Kadikistani soldiers with the right admission can enter the city of Oostdijke, and citizens can work at the base. Within East-Gouw Marken, a special permission is needed to travel from or to Oostdijke.

West-Gouw Marken sees this special Kadikistani District as a threat to its safety. Philippus IX warns Engellex and Bourgogne for the ‘proximity of a hostile base in their back yard’. He once again calls upon all ‘free and democratic nations’ to hold on to an united Gouw Marken without the Kadikistans and the Kadikistani puppets in East-Markstad.

In Oostdijke itself preperations are made for a symbolic and glorious welcome to the ships and vessels, in presence of many important politicians and leaders from both East-Gouw Marken and Kadikistan. Some ambassadors of befriended nations were invited as well to the ceremony.

The attention for the special status of OMD is overtaking the news of the celebration of 60 years strong diplomatic ties between Kadikistan and Gouw Marken. East-Markstad has invited ‘the western part of our country to not forget what Kadikistan has done 60 years ago for our mother and fathers, when they were little children without any nutrition and health care. It is Kadikistan that has shapened our future’.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Trade of Xinhai will visit East-Gouw Marken. Due to the vast investments of the last decades, the East-Markenese agriculture is flourishing. East-Gouw Marken will invest in 2018-2023 in the food industrie. Kadikistan is named as a possible trade partner for these products, but sure Xinhai can be interested in some typical and to Xinaiese citizens ‘exotic’ agricultural products as beer, bacon and cheese.

Celebrations of Christmass in Catholic West-Gouw Marken are over and economic life starts when factories and offices opened again today. West-Gouw Marken workers do not have many rights and the unions do not have any influence. A worker has off on Sundays and an additional 11 days a year: 3 at Christmas (25-26-27/12), 3 at Easter, 1 at Pentecost, 2 in summer (14/15 August) and 2 in Autumn (01/02-11). It is impossible to choose holidays, except when in mutual understanding with the company and of course, without any payment.

On the crisis in Crotobaltislavonia

East-Gouw Marken fully recognises the presence of Kadiki troops in Crotobaltislavonia. Once again, Kadikistan has done everything it has been obliged to, to save world peace and to behold economic and political safety of the region. Our little nation will not stay behind in supporting the peace efforts of Kadikistan and will do its part in this matter. East-Markstad will send food and textile to Kadikistan to supply the troops, and will bear all the costs of transportation. It is without any doubt that Kadikistan is fully capable of supplying its own troops, but this little effort is a token from our nation towards Kadikistan and the people of Crotobaltislavonia who will benefit from a stable and safe political situation in their country.

What concerns the refugees, East-Gouw Marken is aware of the problems of a nation on the drift, but with the consolidation of power in Crotobaltislavonia, there is no need for shelter anymore; the need is more to bring those refugees home again where they all can stand together to reconstruct their nation for the better, looking forward to a bright and new future under the Kadiki umbrella.

West-Gouw Marken is outrageous about the Kadiki intervention. Katholica has condemned the intervention “of a nation that aims to subjugate all free nations, beginning with the ones closest to its borders. This step is nothing more than an attempt to destabilise the continent, to create an economic crisis and to endanger world peace. Refugees from Crotobaltislavonia, especially catholic families, are very welcome under the condition they are prepared to seek for a position within the production process of our economy”.

As always we wholeheartedly welcome the support coming from our most loyal allies in Gouw Marken. The one true legitimate government of Gouw Marken has once again demonstrated to the world that it can see past the lies and conspiracies spread by the capitalist elite and still muster up the humanity for such magnanimous tokens of undying solidarity. The Kadikistani Union has done what it had to in order to preserve the balance of power in Germania and we feel the support of the European people. As stability returns gradually to the great nation of Crotobaltislavonia, there is no further need for refugees to be hosted by external powers. Let the Crotobaltislavonian return home in peace and help rebuild their nation after the ravaging preformed by agents of the Trier Concordat.

Winter games in Ayr : when sports is not only about sports

The Winter Games are traditionally a major happening in Gouw Marken, a Nordic country where winter sports are popular during the cold, dark season.

Normally the East does far better as the West, and that translates every time in a bunch of accusations from one side of the border to the other side. East-Markstad always demonstrates its supremacy and suggest the West is leaving its people without any free time and has no interest in sports and the health of its citizens. In East-Gouw Marken labourers have more days off and mostly big sporting events are organised within the community. This fits together with the policy of educating the people trough education, sports and leisure. In West-Gouw Marken it is forbidden to do sporting events on Sundays, due to religious laws.

The West always accuses the East of using illegal products to boost the results of its sporting team, and to scout children from little age and training them into success just for reasons of propaganda. The sporting results have to take away the diplomatic and economic fiasco East-Gouw Marken is, all under the umbrella of Kadikistan.

This year nothing changes. The two teams, split since the Games of 1980, carried their own flag and did not walk together into the arena on the opening event. The East traditionally walked in as ‘East-Gouw Marken’, getting in first and thus, according to a spokesman ‘representing the real Gouw Marken’. The West carried the sign ‘Gouw Marken (West)’. Geotri split those two groups as if it was a peacekeeper on neutral soil.

In women’s ice hockey, the East faced Geotri again and won. Nele Doorens and Gertie Zeveraars were heroes of the game. Especially the woman sports are important for the East, as they represent the modern and open society – the West does not allow woman to participate in public sporting events. In Katholica, the capital of the West, woman are considered good enough to do the household, bear children and if unmarried, do some ‘soft’ professions like nurse or teacher. East-Gouw Marken will face Bourgogne, and this game is looked foreward to, as Bourgogne is still considered a hostile and unfortunate nation in EGM. To win will be a cause of honour.

EGM was unfortunate in figure skating, taking just silver with Kristof Dezanger and Kristel Scheve. Tough it was the first medal for EGM, expectations were for gold and this was achievable. The next day two additional silver medals were won by Trees Tentzeil in woman’s speed skating and Jolien Vanginder in woman’s skijumping.

EGM has won only medals in woman’s sports, WGM has no medals yet. Caledonia is leading, followed by Eiffelland and Kadikistan.

It is yet to see if the national anthem of East-Gouw Marken ‘ ‘t Vrije Volk’ can be heard in the Gunnish city of Ayr. It would cause a political battle if it was not, especially when ‘ ‘t Lied der Vrijheid’ the Hymn of West-Gouw Marken (the old hymn of Gouw Marken) was played for winning a gold medal.

If that would happen indeed, no one would give a penny for the life of the EGM team’s coach…It is indeed yet to see if the positive climate about these games in EGM, and the additional changing public opinion towards this nation, will translate in new diplomatic ties,more warm and sunny as they were. If the umbrella of Kadikistan does not shelter the light...

Two people injured during ‘illegal manifestations’ in Markstad


The spirit of the Winter Games has turned to violence in Gouw Marken today, as the events in Gunnland caused major riots at the border in both West- and East-Markstad.

Everything started after the gold medal in ski jumping was won by the West-Markenese Klaas Vandaar. At the ceremony the flag of West-Gouw Marken was raised (the old Markenese flag), and this had not happened since East-Gouw Marken changed the flag in 1997, as the West never won a gold medal. But for some reason the athem of East-Gouw Marken was played. Klaas Vandaar, in tears when seeing the flag, rapidly changed his face in a painful twist.

In EGM, broadcasting went on, and thus the MSTV (Markense Sport Televisie) vioalated local laws as it is forbidden to play the ‘ ‘t Vrije Volk’. On social media it was rapidly spread – by an unknown source- that East-Gouw Marken had arranged this, with help of Kadikistan, and Gunnland went on with this; all as a token of the re-unification of Gouw Marken under the reign of the East. People in Markstad-West went to the wall that divides Markstad in the hope the border would open and they would be able to see long-lost relatives.

At the other side, the ceremony was not broadcasted at first, but an hour later it came into the news with a compilation of Vandaar, the anthem when he watches and the raising of the EGM flag taken from another occasion. Klaas Vandaar had asked political asylum in EGM, thus the gold medal was an EGM one and that was confirmed by playing the national anthem of EGM. On social media and internet are only the first 30 seconds of the ceremony available to watch. But with the flag of Gouw Marken being raised, people thought the country would re-unite and rapidly it was said the border would be opened from the West. People gathered at the wall in the hope to see those who have been separated from them for almost 40 years now.

As the crowd became bigger and bigger, the EGM police had to use the water cannon and some shots were heard. The crowd rapidly disappeared into homes and bars and the police and national security sealed the streets around the border.

In West-Markstad, two people were injured when the climbed upon the wall and felt when the police started to shoot. One had a grazing shot at the shoulder. East-Gouw Marken has said they had to ‘remove illegal immigrants from state property’ – the wall being built by the East. There is no news about casualties in the East.

Once again it was shown how precarious the situation between East and West is, and how rapidly both hostile feelings as a call for re-unification can stir the population of Markstad for the better or the worse.

The Gunnish Stephanitic Organizing Committee (GSOC) is investigating the incident, and has put protocols in place to make sure it is not repeated. We look forward to the peaceful unification of Gouw Marken on terms acceptable to each and all, someday.

While it is highly unfortunate that this event occurred we trust that the GSOC will honour their great legacy and get to the bottom of what transpired during the latest Markenese Winter Games victory. We also wish a speedy recovery for those injured in the protests and echo the sentiments who state that this is a smudge on the blazon of the Stephanitic Games, which is not only about sport performances, but also peace and unity. Last, but not least, we formally deny any involvement in the crisis that has unfolded between the legitimate and the illegitimate Markenese leaderships. The Kadikistani Union does not seek to provoke aimlessly and gains nothing from such spontaneist street violence, let alone would we go through the significant effort to stage such an elaborate occurrence without purpose. Allegations of our involvement are thus false, which the GSOC will no doubt independently establish upon concluding their investigation. From our end we can only speculate that anticommunist forces have the most to gain from this, but we truthfully hope that this is not the case and the entire happening was just the result of a human error for which the perpetrator(s) are disciplined accordingly.

The Prince-Bisshop on Trivodnia

East-Gouw Marken sees the situation in Trivodnia as an internal political matter. If for any reason economic support is needed, it is up to Trivodnian authorities to make decisions. It is amazing to see that supporting Trivodnia together with Kadikistan is declined and supporting Trivodnia together with Bourgogne is seen as the right thing.
Once again it is proved that Bourgogne has nothing more in mind than putting Trivodnia under capitalist controll, thus leaving it for foreign companies to exploid. That is, and always will be the hidden agenda. look at our temporally lost provinces, how they are plundered by all those foreign companies, how the working class struggles, how education, health security, yes, even leisure time are ripped apart by those predators of the economy.
East-Gouw Marken stands together with all the free nations in Europe and offers unconditionally support to those who work towards a good life for everyone.

East-Gouw Marken officially wants to join the Rurikgrad-Pact

Prince-Bishop Quintus VII of East-Gouw Marken has officially and in person apllied for membership of the Rurikgrad Pact. It is very rare for a leader of Gouw Marken to involve directly in politics, almost every communication is done by the secretary.

The leader of East-Gouw Marken has expressed the will to cooperate more intensely with the members of the pact. The friendship between Markstad and Kadikistan is the spine of the intentions of EGM to join the pact.

The leaders of West-Gouw Marken are not amused, in fact the condemn this action saying East-Markstad is again selling out its freedom, its resources and its people. The secretary of East-Gouw Marken has already answered the East has no lessons to take from the West, exploiting its own population for the benefit of foreign companies’.

In the West many see this as a move towards invasion and annexation of what EGM calls ‘the temporally lost provinces’. WGM fears a furher growth in military presence of Kadikistan, and maybe others, in Gouw Marken.

Meanwhile, in many cities special official celebrations shall be held on Sunday on the occasion of ‘the official step towards our place in this world: a free, independent and proud nation amongst the true free peoples’.
