Hey all!

I used to RP on other forums (which are now, sadly, inactive) a few years ago, and I'm hoping to get back into things here. My proposed nation is loosely based on the historic Sultanate of Zanzibar. I imagine it being a semi-constitutional monarchy, largely inhabited by Swahili-speaking Africans, but ruled by the Sultan and dominated by the Arab minority. Looking at your map, I get the feeling that Himyar would suit my nation best, though I'm happy to take the advice of established players if they feel I would be a better fit elsewhere. I would, ideally, like my nation to encompass a small island or island-chain just off the coast, and a moderately-sized continental territory.

As for me, I'm Mike, from England originally but I've been living in America for the last 7 months. Look forward to joining you all!

Mike

Welcome! You are right, Himyar would be perfect for your nation. Any preferred corner of Himyar?

Well, I'd quite like to be next to at least one other nation to encourage RPs. I also need an island to make the whole Zanzibar angle work. I am therefore inclined towards the two islands and the coastland to the west of Andaluz (though I'm guessing the southern half of Himyar is maybe more African in feel and might suit my nation better if there were any available islands which were not too isolated). Does this sound sensible?

I would suggest perhaps taking Zamantis's spot since IIRC that person has moved on from the nation and should be greened anyway. It puts you between two active players Pelasgia (our byzantine Empire dude) and Laurenburg's himyari colony, plus plenty of islands for your concept angle. It mite lend to an arabic coast with an african interior? Tis all some friendly suggestions for ya.

Welcome! YAY! Another religious fanatic monarchy! Classical Conservatism seems to be rising again.

Haha indeed! Since we're nearby, we could have some fun RP's, with lots of potential for tension or cooperation as we prefer.

I mean, the Catholics and Jews already want not-Jerusalem (Hiersolyma), so why not add some Muslims to the mix? Or we could work to keep the Crusaders out ;)

Hi, I'm a British university student studying history. My nation is the Kingdom of Anglorum, which I realise now, although I did not in the beginning, is partly shared by a rather well known nation around here. The idea behind the nation is that it is a near-absolutist monarchy where the Normans lost the Battle of Hastings and so England remained Anglo-Saxon. I gave up on my previous NS region after people started claiming they had nuclear hand grenades, so I'd ideally like a bit more realism.

I should note that I believe an Imperium Anglorum exists on the forum. That out of the way-

I'm aware that someone with an absurdly similar name already existed well before me, I didn't at the time I created this however. It was merely a coincidence.

Hi, and welcome! Your nation sounds great, an almost opposite to mine, in an Anglo-Saxon way - or Angelli-Lexen here.

that is a link to my wiki-like nation page, I've actually been updating it recently. Some things will be familiar, some things maybe not. Burgundy, or Bourgogne, is our France.

It can be quite interesting, I think, to have two Anglo nations, almost completely opposite, I'm assuming from different events in history. I imagine we would be fierce competitors.

Hello! I've just joined this region and it seems pretty cool. I'm 16 years old and I live in Washington. My nation is Ayyubistan, a middle eastern/Islamic based country. Its culture is meant to be a mash up of several middle eastern cultures such as aspects from Iran, Arabia, and Turkey. Its government is influenced heavily by religion, although Ayyubistan is not completely a theocracy.
I look forward to being a part of you community!
