The invasions of al-Magrab and Hajr has propelled Azraq to global prominence
News that the Frankish and Tarusan Empires had started military assaults on al-Magrab and Hajr sent shockwaves throughout Jugol. The former European Forum mandates had been in chaos for decades but long overlooked by the international community, as the oil and gas continued to flow - until now.
The lack of forewarning is what offended the Azraqi government, and indeed His Imperial Majesty Boqor Tiirka Illah, most. Of course any white, Christian interference in the realms that border Azraq would have been unwelcome, but the lack of communication and consultation before military operations started has especially been seen as a sign of deliberate disrespect.
However, the swift and decisive actions of Garad-Wasiir Mohammed Yusuf Kahyre have turned what could have been a geopolitical disaster into a political and diplomatic coup.
Nations around the world have rallied around Azraq's call for the peoples of the Magrab and Hajr to decide their own future, and have their native customs and traditions respected. Millions in Euromarks has also been pledged in aid for the refugees fleeing the two wartorn territories to the safety of Azraq, with our generous and open-armed response universally praised.
The Grand Vizier has also guaranteed Azraq's energy security, with cast-iron promises from the Frankish and Tarusan ambassadors that oil and gas will continue to flow southwards freely. The government is also set to announce major new infrastructure projects such as giant solar panel farms and hydroelectric dams that will diversify Azraq's energy supply.
In additional to bilateral meetings, a formal summit in Jugol with the Gothic Sea Pact powers is close to being agreed. The Azraqi capital will soon be host to lots more guests.
The Vice President of the Republic of Tianlong is due to arrive imminently, with a broad framework agreement already in place. Tianlong will pledge to support Azraq's economic development in return for naval visitation rights and a restatement ot Azraqi support for freedom of navigation in the Index and Meridian Seas and the Himyari Channel that connects them.
Another summit, this time between Azraq, Natal and Pelasgia, is also likely to take place in Jugol. Other talks are also said to be in the works.
Albeit for tragic reasons, Azraq has moved from the periphery to centre of world affairs. With that has come a growing recognition of Azraq's power and potential. Once the bloodshed is over, a brighter future awaits us.
