Lord Protector present at the Central Himyari Protectorate Celebrations

The yearly celebrations of the proclamation of the Central Himyari Protectorate in Harton last weekend had a special meaning as it has the right honourable Evan Green, Lord Protector of Deira, in attendance. The Deiran Himyari Association for Mutual Development, Security and Cooperation (DHA), has been at the forefront of the colonisation of Himyar since the mid 19th century, and has been one of the greatest supporters of the idea that Gallo-Germania, leaving behind its associated territories in Himyar has been first and foremost a mistake to the detriment of the Himyaris, which have been thrown into anarchy, poverty and destitution.

The DHA has been extremely critical to the Democratic Progressive Party which in the late 1980s has announced that it will abandon the Central Himyaris to their own dealings, and many consider them a key factor to the political crisis which followed in bringing down the government and cementing the presence of the Integralist remnant into the Deiran democratic politics.

"The CHP Celebration is actually a remembrance day to a time when both Deiran and Central Himyari peoples have come together under the St. Alban's cross, tying their destinies together and working in solidarity to the betterment of both Himyari and Deiran societies. Many of our critics condemn us for colonialism, but looking at the state of the Central Himyari Republic once Deira abandoned its child, it is clearer to us by every year passing that there is a nostalgia within both Central Himyari and Deirans to a time when the nations were associated. The failures of the independentist governments and even the Pelasgians trying their hand in aiding such sovereignists, just shows how much in reality, the nation craves to return into the fold of Engell speaking nations and the Deiran Community. Liberal media has always presented us as monsters wanting to destroy Himyar, but in reality there are many Nethians who wish to see the Saltire again, as it gives them hope for a time in which they knew, tomorrow was safe, unlike today," stated Richard Roberts, Chairman of the Deiran-Himyari Association.

The office of the Lord Protector refrained from explanations, but the spokesperson did state that the Celebrations of the Central Himyari Protectorate represent a way of bringing together the positive developments between the two nations when they were associated and promoting the fact that such associations are in general the only way forward for quality improvements of the standard of living of both countries.

The Democratic Progressive Party has criticised the government for associating itself with such endeavours, calling it a return to reactionary imperialism, especially as the opposition party went as far as calling for boycotts of Tarusan, Frankish and Scanian goods, in the aftermath of their joint invasion of the two EF Mandates, Al-Maghrab and Hajr.

Saban authorities condemn Deiran party culture:
Religious authorities in the Protectorate of Saba have condemned the influx of tourists from Deira, especially for the Christmas season, as they observe their country becoming the main target for party goers who wish to enjoy the hot climate and to escape the bleak, frigid and rainy Deiran winters. Saban authorities condemn what they see as a complete collapse of righteousness especially in central Saba City.

Government publishes transportation masterplan for 2023

The Yellow House (metonymy for the Deiran government) has announced the publishing of the Transportation Masterplan for 2023, part of the generalised 5 year plan to modernise, diversify and improve the efficiency of the transportation infrastructure of the Commonwealth of Deira. The 5 Year Modernisation Plan has started in 2019, and the newly published masterplan is meant for the 4th year, and while the first two ones concentrated on the improvement of the road infrastructure, such as a complete repair of the M6 motorway between Rochester and Harton, but also expanding the ring roads around Harton, Lichfield and Chillingham.

The 4th Masterplan is centred on the rail infrastructure of the nation. Deira, one of the world's first countries to industrialise and adopt rail transportation early in the 19th century, had a hugely dense network, with about 30,000 kilometres in total at its highest in 1937, but greatly reduced to 17,000 kilometres of railway nowadays, after the 1970 Railroad Reform, which closed most of the branch lines, concentrating on keeping, maintaining and later, improving the quality of the trunk routes. The modern day DeiRail has been reformed in 1995 after the nationalisation and amalgamation of the 4 private companies which worked inside the nation during the Integralist Regime: The Great Southern Rail, the Cillingham & Northern, the Harton-Dulwich Corporation and the Sabean Railroad Corporation. The development of the new corporation has been one of the great successes of the last decade of the past century, as numbers of both freight and passengers transported are at an all time high.

In this year, the Yellow House has announced that the Department of Transport will invest a total of 2 billion Deiran Pounds into furthering the electrification of the railroad, to ensure that a total of 70% of the railways in Deira are electrified. Currently no electrification plans have been made for the Sabean department of DeiRail, which still remains fully diesel hauled. Other plans are the improvement of the rail on the Harton-Rochester, Harton-Chillingham and Rochester-Lichfield mainlines, with the goal of raising the maximum speed from 120km/h to 160km/h. The this project, while funded by the 2023 Masterplan will be finished only in 2025. Also, an important premiere will be the development from scratch of a new rail based transportation system in the nation. While Harton, Rochester and Lichfield all have underground subways, and the plan even contains an expansion of two lines in Harton for a total of 16 kilometres and 10 stations, a different approach was selected for Chillingham, which will be based more on a light rail. Using the already existing, albeit abandoned, extensive railroad lines in and around the city, the Chillingham Corporation has announced that it will revive the city's railroads and develop it more by building a series of statins around it and isolating it from the mainlines, making it usable exclusively by trams.

"The projects are here to show that Deira looks for the future. We understand that oil prices fluctuate, that the world is suffering from climate change and we need to future proof the nation, its economy and its infrastructure by electrifying more and by developing efficient alternatives to the car centric culture that blighted us starting the 1960s, and going well into the early 2000s. This year's plan is set up to do exactly that: improve our railroad infrastructure, ensure that it is always cheaper, faster and safer to travel between big cities by train and make sure that the cities are ready to continue developing with people in mind first and foremost," stated the right honourable Haider Morgan, Minister of Transport.

POLICE INTERVENE IN POLITICAL FIGHT: The Republican Constabulary had the cordon off a two street area of downtown Rochester after a fight ensured between members of two political factions. The Deiran Himyari Association, a group bringing together Central Himyaris living in Deira or Deirans born in Central Himyar and protecting their interests, has rented out a pub in central Rochester to celebrate the Association Days, the day commemorating the proclamation of the Deiran Central Himyari Protectorate. Later in the night, with the party going on, the pub was attacked by bands of vandals and the Republican Constabulary had to intervene. Ten men aged between 18 and 45 have been arrested, seeming to have been mostly native to Central Himyar, but one of them attracted the interest of the Constabulary, as it was a Pelasgian citizen whom has arrived in Deira on a tourism visa just a few days before. The investigation is set to continue.

Pelasgian Empire
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
H.I.M. Embassy in Harton

№ 42/2022 | Circulation: Public | Urgency: Normal
Harton, 11/12/2022

Public statement with regard to recent events in Rochester.

To whom it may concern,

The Pelasgian Empire condemns the attack on peaceful protestors and gatherers which seems to have taken place in Rochester earlier this week. As much as Pelasgians and our fellow Himyaris abhor the terrible legacy of colonialism for all the harm it has done our continent, we do not in any case endorse violence as a means of silencing any lawful and legitimate viewpoint. We particularly condemn such acts when the culprit is one who has entered a country on a temporary visa, and therefore at the sufferance of the local population.

The Pelasgian Empire thanks the Commonwealth of Deira for its putting our consular authorities in contact with the detained Pelasgian national, as is required by international law. The Empire will cooperate with the Commonwealth's authorities in all necessary matters as may be required by the competent judicial authorities. For our part, the Government of Pelasgia neithers seeks nor expects any leniency to our own national, if he is indeed guilty of the wrongs alleged.

Signed and sealed,

Νικόλαος Γενναδίου
Nikolaos Gennadiou
H.I.M. Ambassador
Head of Mission
