The Grand Duchy condemns the implementation of a jizya tax, which we believe to be a great violation of civil rights. We find this move incredibly irresponsible of the Jurzani government.

Please, I beg you, repeal this tax that you have place upon the Christian people. Can you not see the repercussions that this will cause? This will quickly become an international issue and if that gets out of hand, then there will be bloodshed. I have said this already, but neither of our God's want to see their creations kill one another.

The Mormon Majority residing within the friendly confines has elected to begin receding from Islamic Himyar, or more specifically the Islamic Republic of Jurzan. We can no longer vouch for the safety of our missionaries, or the merit in promoting goodwill in that tainted state.

IRA passes with a huge majority

With no real surprise, the Islamic Republic Amendment was announced by the General Assembly to have officially passed the vote held yesterday. Six out of the seven Emirates voted in favor, Akhaltsikhe, as expected, was the only Emirate to vote against it. The battleground of Adrar turned out to not be such a battleground in the end.

Here are the Seven Emirates and their vote:

EmiratePercentage in FavorPercentage Against
Akhaltsikhe8%92%
Adrar65%35%
Shabwah81%19%
Kebili78%22%
Ariania98%2%
Raymaj90%10%
Asir87%13%

The only thing that was not expected by the results was Adrar. It was assumed that Adrar would be a significantly closer vote due to the general moderate tendencies of the north. Adrari people tend to see what is better for the nation as a whole, so many believed that the IRA was going too far against the Georgian People.

The IRA was the product of the Islamic Socialist Party, namely Mirwais Ahmadzai. It was, in essence, a preview of the November elections. The Adrari Socialist Party vigorously opposed the amendment, calling for secularism. Adrar is supposed to be their stronghold, yet they could only muster 35% of the population to vote against. That’s big and it says a lot about the ISP’s new found popularity. It shows that the ASP may be losing its foothold to the ISP, we might see the ISP becoming increasingly more prevalent in politics both on the national and local levels.

News of the Amendment brought great joy to the majority of the population, hundreds of thousands nationwide cheered that they live in the only Islamic Republic in all of Europe. Many Jurzanis cheered over the fact that Hajr was still an oppressive monarchy as their own nation was a modern democracy. Portraits of Ahmadzai and the Jurzani Flag were flaunted amongst the cheering crowds throughout the nation. Chants of “The Islamic Jurzani Republic” and “Caliph Delbar Achakzai” were heard throughout the crowds.

Akhaltsikhe, on the other hand, saw no such glory. The Commonwealth has received intense backlash over the overwhelming rejection of the IRA and the rallies held by the Talemantine Ecumenical Patriarch. The rallies’ reception throughout the nation was negative. Many people accused the Akhaltsikhis as being anti-Jurzan and traitors because they are listening, even cheering a man from Talemantros.

President Mirwais Ahmadzai addressed the people at the announcement of the passage. However, we fear that trying times are to come with Akhaltsikhe.

I believe that the Amendment that was passed will cause hard times ahead not only for the Christians in the country of Jurzen, but even the Muslims. Hopefully the repercussions that follow will not be that harsh. May God have mercy on all our souls.

Khurshid Khakwani heads diplomatic teamPresident Ahmadzai sits down with Governor Valerian AmirejibiJurzan deploys to Altai
Today, Supreme Chancellor Achakzai requested that the General Assembly send a team of diplomats to the nation of Frescania to begin discussions on democracy in Jurzan and other possibilities of cooperation between the two States.

President Ahmadzai stated that there was no better option to head the diplomatic mission then Representative Khurshid Khakwani, champion of the Adrari Socialist Party. Representative Khakwani was assigned a bipartisan team. The move was surprising due to the conflict between Ahmadzai and Khakwani over domestic policy.

Supreme Chancellor Achakzai called the meeting the start of a new relationship with Frescania, one that he hopes will grow into a strong bond for the betterment of both nations
Today, President Mirwais Ahmadzai sat down with Governor Valerian Amirejibi of Akhaltsikhe to discuss the relationship between Sharjah and Akhaltsikhe. The main issues discussed were the ideals of federalism and the extent at which it exists in Jurzan, the Jizya Tax, the Islamic Republic Amendment’s effect on Akhaltsikhe, and various other issues of the nation.

The meeting went reportedly well. President Ahmadazai recognized the Georgian majority in Akhaltsikhe and accepted that Akhaltsikhe should be run in a different fashion then the Emirates. However, issues over the Jizya tax will likely continue because President Ahmadzai and Governor Amirejibi would simply not agree on either side of the argument. However, the prospects are looking better as the two sides are calming down.

After receiving an invitation to join Altai in military exercises to take place in Altai, the Jurzani Ministry of Defense has officially accepted the invitation and has approved the deployment of a rather large some of soldiers to go to Altai.

Rumor has it that the Jurzani and Altaic Governments have been discussing the possibilities of joint military exercises for quite some time now.

Ahmadzai Unveils Huge Legislative Agenda

After the announcement of Representative Khurshid Khakwani’s work on the new Himyari Partnership for Peace organization, President Mirwais Ahmadzai summoned the General Assembly together to give an open address talking about the future of the Islamic Republic of Jurzan.

The President’s speech opened with a summary of the Jurzan’s involvement in the HPP and the organization itself, the General Assembly was anxious to hear of the new organization as interest in the Revolutionary Defense Treaty Organization wanes. In a shocking move, the President openly criticized the nation’s involvement in the RDTO, stating that “the Islamic Republic of Jurzan is not a communist nation, nor do we have intentions of becoming one. In truth, if our nation is to achieve a perfect economy, we must introduce certain degrees of capitalist reforms. A nation’s economy should not solely exist on the spending of its government.” To that end, the President announced that the General Assembly’s schedule has been altered so that it must vote on the HPP treaty on Sunday, May 27, 2012. Currently, it seems likely the treaty will be approved.

To the ideas of capitalist reforms, President Ahmadzai unveiled his new domestic policy plan, titled “Jurzan Rising: Industrialization, Modernization, Equalization, and Privatization.” The plan’s title pretty much says it all.

The President stated he wished to see Adrar and other Emirates accept a greater degree of industrialization, claiming “one thing is a constant; all the successful, wealthy nations of the world are industrialized.” The President claimed that if the Jurzan is to emerge into the global economy, it must industrialize. One interesting thing about this is the President also doesn’t want the government so heavily involved in the industrialization, citing that he’d rather see a new private sector emerge in a business friendly and labor friendly environment. The President proposed new methods for allowing an increased flow of capital in the nation, namely slashing the corporate tax rate by more than three quarters. He also wants to direct the National Bank to cut down interest rates on loans.

As for the modernization aspect of his new plan, the President said that he wished to see the Miracle in Sharjah occur across the country. Sharjah’s new sewer system, electrical grid, subway system, water filtration system, quality of life, hospitals, etc. are all over the average for the rest of the nation. The President called for a large push to increase the availability of electricity and clean water throughout Jurzan. The Emirate of Adrar and Akahltsikhe have more or less succeeded in modernizing, but the rest of the nation still lacks, and Ahmadzai wants that changed.

Equalizing the nation means that Ahmadzai plans to pass numerous laws that forbid discrimination based on anything. The President did call for a new enforced law on banning hate crimes, increased labor rights, increased safety requirements, increased minimum wage, equality before the law, and equal pay for women.

The President also called for a new move to privatize the Jurzani Economy, or at least increase the private sector. Currently, the Jurzani Government accounts for nearly 70% of the nation’s GDP. Ahmadzai warned that an economy dependent on government spending is dangerous, he requested that the Government begin to privatize certain industries, the first on his list is the mining industry and banking industry(although, the National Bank will remain in existence). The National Oil Company, he specified, will always remain under government control. Ahmadzai claimed that he wanted the Government to account for about 50% of the GDP by the end of his programs, citing that “a diversified, equilibrium between public and private sectors will create a perfect economy.”

Ahmadzai and Khakwani ceasefire.

Today, after the President delivered his speech to the General Assembly, him and Representative Khakwani sat down to discuss future cooperation. The meeting shocked the nation as Khakwani and Ahmadzai are bitter political rivals. However, Rep. Khakwani seemed optimistic about the new domestic policy that the President unveiled and wants the ASP to be an active player in achieving a good number of his goals.

Ahmadzai also congratulated Khakwani on his work in Frescania in achieving the signing of the Himyari Partnership for Peace Treaty. Ahmadzai also asked Khakwani if he’d be interested in being assigned to the HPP to represent the Jurzan or become Foreign Affairs Minister. Khakwani declined both saying that he was needed in the General Assembly, and nowhere else. Ahmadzai accepted the answer and the two ended their meeting on a good note, giving high hopes for the coming days in Jurzani Government.

CITIZEN'S COUNCIL
OFFICE OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
The people of Boliatur and the Citizen's Council has voted to stand by and support Jurzan, seeing as many of Boliatur's population is Sunni and Shiite Islamic. The Zoroaster and Orthodox may grumble, but as long as a majority agrees, Boliatur shall stand by to support any and all people. The peoples of any country should decide what laws to implement, and Boliatur supports Jurzan. The Citizen's Council also wishes to digress that the Boliaturian people are concerned about the recent closing of trade routes by the oppressive government of Wasatch, seeing it as a threat to the freedom of any and all peoples of an equal level. Boliatur extends a hand of friendship, in the hope that Jurzan shares views similar to the Boliaturian Council's Hashish.

His Danic Majesty's Government communicates its pleasure at having hosted and concluded the first State Visit by the Second Republic of Jurzan to the Kingdom of the Great Danes.

The historic meetings between President Ahmadzai and Statsminister Hr. Schneider-Krogsgaard were of great fruit and of high productivity. In these talks, and those conducted with myself as Foreign Minister, a range of issues were discussed relating to assistance and joint-programs of economic development and inward investment, as well as the regional Himyar situation.

The government is pleased to announce the release the first tranche of finance from the Danish Himyar Fund to the Second Republic in order to upgrade the water infrastructure network and the development of first-rate irrigation systems and techniques to develop agricultural production, exports, and expansion of fertile land in the emirates of Raymaj and Asir. Alongside this, the goal of a comprehensive transnational water network allowing all Jurzani access to adequate water supplies, and development of sewerage networks in the southern emirates of Ariana, Raymaj, Kebili and Shabwah.

The release of Fund money will also permit considerable progress to be made on the road and rail network across the country linking all parts of the nation and allowing greater economic and social advancement, internal and international trading traction, and alleviation of social conflicts due to economic dislocation.

His Majesty's Government also will work alongside the Second Republic in the development of clean energy in which many private consortia have indicated an interest.

His Majesty's Government looks forward to this new era of friendship and cooperation between us.

Jurzan officially ends membership in RDTO

The rumors have been confirmed today as President Mirwais Ahmadzai announced that the Jurzani General Assembly has officially voted to end its membership in the Revolutionary Defense Treaty Organization. President Ahmadzai declared the following:

“The Islamic Republic of Jurzan has today decided that the Revolutionary Defense Treaty Organization is no longer beneficial, but in fact harmful to our nation. The Islamic Republic is a democratic socialist nation, and the RDTO is an alliance of Communists. Communism is harmful to our country and we won’t allow its spread. Our nation must achieve economic equilibrium to bring about a better Jurzan. With leaving the RDTO, the Jurzan will focus more heavily on its membership in the Himyari Partnership for Peace.”

The announcement comes as no surprise; Ahmadzai has always been an extremely vocal opponent of Carentania and the nation’s membership. Ahmadzai stated the necessity of a growing private sector to supplement a growing nation. He expressed fear that continued involvement in the RDTO would eventually lead to the growth of a repressive backward system of communism.

The vote was by no means partisan; the vote was passed by a 670 to 100 vote. It showed a rather strong opposition to communism and stands to support the credibility of Ahmadzai’s call for a larger private sector and capitalist reforms.

This is the largest shift in foreign policy ever made by the Jurzani Government. The nation was a member since its founding; in fact the RDTO was critical to the success of the Jurzani Revolution and Jurzani-Talemantine War. That still being fact, the Government still feels that the RDTO would eventually hold the nation back from expanding into further world markets.

Information leaked over Jurzani Oil Fields

Today, the Ministry of War accidently leaked information about the nation’s defense strategy concerning the protection and continuation of oil exportation. The Ministry said that nothing too severe was leaked, but still more information then they’d like.

In the documents, the Ministry expressed extreme concern about the nation’s ability to maintain oil exports in the event of war. The documents talk about securing the national railway leading to Abasha as well as Jurzani Naval vessels escorting oil tankers, however, due to the recent agreements with Great Engellex, the information is already outdated.

The documents talk about a crippling effect to the Jurzani economy if the oil fields were to damaged and alluded to the fact that Jurzani Oil Fields do have a military presence, however, they don’t specify anything more about that.

All in all, the Ministry of War passed off the leaked information as something that was already apparent and that the documents don’t pose a serious threat to the security of the nation. The Ministry reaffirmed that they are doing everything in their power to ensure that the Jurzani Nation will constantly remain safe for all its cit
izens.

THE Friendly Confines wish at this time to pursue previously postponed interactions with the Peoples & Patriots of Jurzan, in prudent consideration of the Islamic Republic's pious choice to distance itself from the dangerous ideology of Communism, and its dwindling throng of armed proponents.

Should the Islamic Republic seek to supplement its territorial defense of valued oil fields, this Nation would be willing to connect private security firms that are qualified to provide professional solutions to defense deficiencies in and around essential facilities.

Concerning religiosity: it is not within our interests as a Covenant to protect the interests of White Orthodoxy in your remarkably Islamic Nation of Brown Folk, so we do not feel it is our duty to join the Kyivan Rus in condemnation of Jurzan.

Jizya and Zakat go to Court

In an extremely controversial move, the Governor of Akhaltsikhe, Valerian Amirejibi, has announced to the Akhaltsikhe General Assembly that he and his legal team would seek the permission of the Akhaltsikhe General Assembly to petition the Jurzani General Assembly for exemption from the Jizya Tax. The move in its own right is controversial as the Jizya Tax is surprisingly heavily debated in Akhaltsikhe. Some view the tax as in good nature despite being a part of the Islamic faith. Others call it religious oppression, citing that you cannot force someone to pay a tax because they aren’t Muslim, regardless of the tax’s intent.

Governor Amirejibi’s legal team took a different approach. The General Assembly of Akhaltsikhe is the only authority to request an exemption from a national law, a power given to it by the Akhaltsikhe Exemption Act. This was expected to come along at some point, what wasn’t expected was Governor Amirejibi directing his legal team to sue the National Government for breaching religious freedom. Amirejibi’s team stated that forcing people of any faith to pay a tax based on faith alone is a discriminatory tax. Despite the tax being religious and the Jurzan being an Islamic Republic, there is an article in the Constitution describing the rules of taxation. In that article, it clearly states that taxes directed at certain groups are discriminatory and therefore forbidden.

Governor Amirejibi is expected to appear before an assembled General Assembly tomorrow to make his case for the General Assembly voting to request exemption from the Jurzani General Assembly. As of now, it’s hard to say whether or not that will even go by smoothly. Some in the General Assembly refuse to even raise an issue over it, saying it’s too insignificant to cause such an ordeal over. Amirejibi’s response is that it is irrelevant how much the tax is, it’s the purpose that is illegal.

The Jurzani Legal System works differently from other court rooms. In a Jurzani Court, there are no lawyers or juries, there is only a Judge. It is the Judge’s sole responsibility to handle the trial, plaintiffs and defendants represent themselves. Although often times they hire law experts to aid them in the court room, however these quasi lawyers are not allowed to take an active role in the trial. When Akhaltsikhe sues the National Government, it immediately goes to Akhaltsikhe’s High Court to determine whether or not the Commonwealth has a legitimate case against the National Government, or is simply wasting time and effort. Should the High Court move the case onwards, then it will go to the Jurzani National Courts. In the National Courts, the National Government and Commonwealth Governments will choose a person to represent them in the Court room; it is likely that these people will be legal experts. The National Court Judge will then decide the case and give a ruling. Should the loser choose, they can appeal the case to the Constitutional Court. When the Constitutional Court makes their decision, it is final.

The papers for the lawsuit will be filed on June 30, 2012. The High Court will likely set a court date for four days later, to give the Commonwealth time to prepare.
