An den Minister des Äußeren des Königsreichs Eiffelland – To the Minister of Foreign Affairs

Dear colleague,

I understand that you are very likely to have received the same message - a call for support from fellow Germanic nations by the Germanian Congress - that you find attached to this cable. Bearing in mind the Danish plans to offer the vacant throne of their country to a valid prince or princess from a Germanic realm we consider this a dilemma for both Eiffelland and Franken. Therefore, our two governments ought to coordinate their responses, as both splitting Danmark and preserving its territorial integrity have their merits.

What’s more, we need to investigate how radical the Germanic Congress‘ republicanism is, i.e. whether they are run by pragmatic people or more dogmatically inclined. Last but not least, we would like to use this opportunity to discuss the basic strategic directions for our two countries' industrial complexes together with our economic affairs ministries.

Sincerely,

Also we see the problems you outline regarding Danmark. Our stance is that no potential Eiffellandian candidate for the Danish Throne can accept the Danish Crown as long as the Germanics in Danmark are still oppressed by the Danish. This is also the stance of our King. And to be honest, at this moment accepting the Danish Crown would be unwise in general. It is only one faction in the Danish conflict that looks for a new King. Therefore, that new King will never have the approval of all Danish citizens, ethnically Danish or Germanic.

Like you say, both keeping Danmark unified and splitting Danmark have their advantages. However, if we strive for an unified Danmark, we must ask ourselves what the price for that will be. Is it still possible to restore peace between the Germanics and the Ethnic Danes? If not, an unified Danmark will consist of either only Danes or only Germanics. Then splitting the country would be better. Unfortunately, we cannot enforce that alone.

Our constitution determines that only our third army can be deployed outside Eiffelland after an approval with a simple majority by our parliament. And the third army is involved in Solaren to a large extent. The first and second army can only operate outside Eiffelland after a twothirds majority in parliament, or when Eiffelland or its allies are attacked. Getting that twothirds majority might be difficult at this moment. What we could do, however, would be supplying the Germanics in Danmark. But indeed, you are right that we have to find out if we create an ally or a future problem due to ideologic matters of a republican kind when supplying the Germanics in Danmark. We are trying to find that out.

Best regards,

Rudolph Kögler, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Vice-Chancellor
