I'd say it's time for a compromise candidate. Some kind of an ICly well-known, high-ranking archbishop who is older and not going to rock the boat either way. Then wait for awhile and then start flipping a coin every month to find out when he dies of old age.

I say we try again with the same simple voting rules (3,3,1,1,1...) around Easter, open it up to all players again for fresh blood, and see what happens.

I agree with Elben's thought. We need to bring this to an end. In order to prevent that somebody has to sacrifice a character he wants to use further, I suggest that we create a 90 year old Bishop whose mental capacities are still intact, who is still healthy enough to act as Pope, and who will understand how divided the Church is and therefore will not rock the boat. He will become Pope, and in September we will start randomizing whether he dies during his sleep or not.

    Possible names could be:

    What are your thoughts?

EDIT: Gunnland's idea is also a good one.

Let's just have a placeholder pope until such time as we have quorum to restart. Like when SWR is back, or when the conclave looks like it will have ~6 active participants. I don't think that's now. Hopefully before September, but maybe when folks are around.

Pius XII, who was an Eiffellandian, is dead. John XXIII, who is an [who wants to host next time?!], reigns now, and upholds status quo. He will die, and he will have appointed whomever wants to play next time cardinals, at precisely the time we have an OOC interest in trying again. Then we can hammer out new rules if the old rules were at fault.

    So, Habemus Papam?

Pablo Sánchez, 90, from Andaluz, archbishop of somewhere (titular), who chooses the name John XXIII?

    Yay?

I don't think we want him to be from Andaluz. We want someone active at the moment who can host the next conclave.

Let's say we've elected a German Elbener as a compromise, and Elben can host the next conclave.

Sorry for being so stubborn

EDIT: Anyway, I agree with an Elbener Pope as placeholder Pope.

One remark for the name: I have very much respect for the RL Pope John XXIII. What he did for the Church, was good and needed.

I'm not there since West-Gouw Marken has no cardinals (i have written a post about that)
BTW I agree with Eiffel- Joannes/John/Jean/Juan XXIII was and is a saint - I'll go for a fake name
