WIEN (Ostmark) - Sozialdemokratische Partei's (SPO) Hans Pommer was sworn in Monday as the 42nd Chancellor of the Kingdom of Ostmark, completing a comeback from the collapse of his previous government as the leader of a new and very different coalition, with the Christlich Demokratische Union (CDU) and the Zentrumspartei (ZP). Pommer, 58, returned to the top job after a five-months absence. The cabinet sworn in by His Majestät the King Ludwig III is first with a firm parliamentary majority and marks the first time that the Zentrumspartei and the Christlich Demokratische Union have entered the country's national government togheter.

The new Regierungschef has expressed satisfaction for the positive outcome of the negotiations between the SPO, the CDU and the ZP "We are confident in a proficuous activity in the first one hundred days of the newly sworn in cabinet i am honored to represent." said Pommer "During my brief meeting with His Majesty the King, we agreed on a necessary parliamentary procress to finally bring the issue of women's suffrage on the table. It will be one of the first priorities of the new cabinet, along with the five year plan to finally complete the industrialization process, which is currently suffering from a lack of public investments." he concluded.

THOUSANDS OF WOMEN DEMONSTRATE IN WIEN, DEMAND VOTING RIGHTS
Chancellor Pommer: "We will approve the Suffrage Reform by the end of the month".

By Karl Rutter

WIEN (Ostmark) - Thousands of women gathered outside the Nationalrat calling for an immediate approval of the Universal Suffrage Reform. Demonstrators held up banners and listened to speeches during the peaceful demonstration in Konigreichplatz, Wien. Angela von Wilhelmstadt, leader of the Suffragetten, launched an appeal to Chancellor Pommer, urging him to speed up the reform process and finally extend voting rights to almost one million Ostmarkian women who, according to Frau von Wilhelmstadt "Are actively and systematically discriminated by denying them a basic right, the right to express their vote in local, provincial and national elections".

Kanzler Hans Pommer expressed sympathy and solidarity with the demonstrators and the overall agenda of the Suffragetten. The Chancellor stated that "Women's voting rights are a priority of the newly sworn in cabinet" and promised to "ultimate the reform by the end of August". "It is vital to introduce timely changes to an obsolete and archaic system that is preventing a large part of the population of the Kingdom of Ostmark, the female population, from actively exercising their constitutional rights" he concluded. Chancellor Pommer will now face the hard task of uniting his coalition allies, namely the Christian Democratic Union of Ostmark and the Centre Party, and secure a majority vote for the final debate session in the National Assembly by the end of the month.

TUCHERSFELD (Ostmark) - His Majestät the King Ludwig III reviewed a Grenztruppen regiment of the Königliche Landwehr in Tuchersfeld, praising the efforts of the soldiers of Ostmark "They are the pride of the nation, and defenders of peace at home and in Europe" said His Majesty. The soldiers of the regiment of the Royal Territorial Defense Force paid respects and saluted their King and Commander in Chief as he reviewed them. Accompanied by Chancellor Pommer, His Majesty awarded merit medals to the Border Troops who carefully and diligently overwatched the border of the Kingdom of Ostmark during the dramatic events of the Great War.

Kanzler Hans Pommer has expressed "Deep concern" for the political and social consequences of Europe's most devastating conflict, and confirmed his decision to reaffirm Ostmark's neutrality as "A decision dictated by foresight" said Herr Pommer, who served as Foreign Affairs Minister in the cabinet presided by Chancellor Berger, in charge during the beginning of hostilities "It was a decision discussed and agreed with His Majesty the King and the entire cabinet presided at the time by Chancellor Marcus Berger, in the interest of Ostmark and its people. We are only starting to see the catastrophic economic, social and political implications of the conflict, and i am glad that Ostmark has wisely chosen the neutrality path, sparing our people and our nation of incommensurable suffering" he concluded.

WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE WINS IN NATIONALRAT
The Constitutional Amendment Is Passed, 76 to 24, or more than two-thirds.

By Karl Rutter

WIEN (Ostmark) - After a long and persistent fight advocates of woman suffrage won a historic victory in the Nationalrat today. The National Assembly, by a vote of 76 to 24, adopted the Hans Pommer amendment to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Ostmark. The suffrage supporters had the necessary two-thirds vote of Deputies present. The amendment now goes to His Majesty the King, Luwdig III, for ratification in the form in which it has been adopted by the Nationalrat, as follows: "The right of the citizens of the Kingdom of Ostmark to vote shall not be denied or abridged on account of sex. The National Assembly shall have power, by appropriate legislation, to enforce the provisions of this article."

Leaders of the Suffragetten Movement announced tonight that they would at once embark upon a campaign to obtain ratification of the amendment by his Majesty the King, Ludwig III, so that women might have the vote in the next local election. Frau Angela von Wilhelmstadt, leader of the Suffragetten, predicted that the campaign for ratification and legislation would succeed and that women would vote for the next local representatives. Suffragists thronged the Nationalrat galleries in anticipation of the final vote, and when the outcome was announced by the Speaker they broke into deafening applause. For two minutes the demonstration went on, the Speaker making no effort to check it.

Chancellor Hans Pommer expressed satisfaction and applauded the results of today's historic parliamentary vote. "We are witnessing the beginning of a new era in the politics of the Kingdom of Ostmark." said the Kanzler during a press conference "Women's Suffrage is a vital and necessary step for any society that claims to be democratic and firmly anchored to liberal values, and i am proud our fatherland, the Kingdom of Ostmark, is spearheading a new age of equality and freedom in Germania, and will hopefully set an example for all the democratic and liberal nations in the region and abroad. " he concluded.

WOMAN WINS CAMPAIGN TO RESTORE "ONE DAY WAR" SOLDIER'S REPUTATION
Corporal Paul Grasser, executed for High Treason, awarded post-mortem Life Saving Medal.

TUCHERSFELD (Ostmark) - The dramatic events of the One Day War, which culminated in the Battle of Tuchersfeld, fought by the armies of the Kingdom of Eiffelland and the Kingdom of Ostmark in 1871, are still vivid in the memories of Landwehr veterans. A woman from Wilhelmstadt, Angelika Hoffman-Grasser, has petitioned Chancellor Hans Pommer to restore the reputation of his defunct husband, Paul Grasser, who perished by execution by firing squad as part of the outcome of the Battle of Tuchersfeld.

Corporal Grasser was found guilty of high treason for abandoning his position during a firefight, in the attempt to bring to safety an eiffellander soldier who had been reportedly incapacitated and severely injured. Gefreiter Paul Grasser, who had noticed and reported the position of the injured soldier, defied his commanding officer's order and abandoned his position, exposing himself to both friendly and enemy fire.

After the battle which resulted in a cease-fire and a peace treaty signed shortly afterward, the Corporal was arrested by the Feldjäger, and he was charged for high reason and insubordination. During the trial Paul Grasser justified his action with a single phrase "I felt no hatred towards that poor soul". His statement, however, did not impress the martial court that a few hours later sentenced him to death by firing squad. At the time of his execution, Gefreiter Paul Grasser was 23, and father of two.

Over 50 years later his wife, Angelika Hoffman-Grasser, successfully petitioned Chancellor Hans Pommer to restore her defunct husband's reputation and recognize his act of insubordination as nothing but a burst of humanity amid a tragic circumstance that led to almost twentythousand deaths and several thousands injured and maimed. Having reviewed Gefreiter Grasser's trial, a special military court of the Royal Territorial Defense Force overturned the previous verdict and awarded a post-mortem Life Saving Medal to the corporal "For showing mercy and piety towards and injured enemy, and putting himself into extreme danger to bring him to safety".

**((Paul Grasser was Horst Grasser's great-great-grandfather. That's why "Paul" was Horst Grasser's middle name. Horst Grasser was also born in Wilhelmstadt, like most of his family members))**

NVP AND OAP WILL FORM A UNITED OPPOSITION FRONT
The Völkische Bewegung will challenge SPD, ZP and CDU in January's national elections. Chancellor Pommer: "We must defend our democracy against obscurantist and totalitarian ideologies".

WIEN (Ostmark) - The Nationale Volkspartei and the Ostmarkische Arbeiterspartei will form a new parliamentary coalition known as Volkish Front "To challenge the liberal and corrupt rule of Kanzler Hans Pommer and the Sozialdemokratische Partei", said NVP's Rudolf Blacker during a demonstration in Koenigreichplatz this morning. Over five thousand demonstrators gathered infront of the Nationalrat and asked His Majesty King Ludwig III to dissolve the National Assembly and call early elections to "Stop the leftist drift promoted by the coalition of the Social Democratic Party, the Centre Party and the Christian Democracy Union presided by Chancellor Hans Pommer".

Rudolf Blacker, the leader of the National People's Party, said his movement and the Ostmarkian Workers' Party will join forces in the National Assembly to actively challenge the liberal platform of the centre-left coalition led by Chancellor Pommer, who has been labeled "A traitor" and "subservient to anti-ostmarkian lobbies in Germania and in Europe".

The NVP and the OAP won respectively 7,2% and 3,4% of the votes in January's national elections. Both parties advocated an "Ostmark First" foreign policy and an increase of the defense budget aswell as an immediate ban of socialist and marxist parties, an agenda described as "totalitarian and anti-constitutional" by Chancellor Hans Pommer, who promised to do "everything in his power" to prevent the authoritarian drift promoted by the Nationale Volkspartei and the Ostmarkische Arbeiterspartei. As a response to Blucker's statements, Chancellor Pommer once again appealed to his coalition partners' responsibility and pragmatism, namely the CDU and the ZP, to continue to support the government coalition and "Defend our democracy as far as humanely possible".

Interviewed by Ostmarkische Zeitung, Chancellor Pommer has expressed "deep concern" for the reactionary and authoritarian agendas of the NVP and the OAP, which he considers to be "extremely dangerous threats for the Kingdom of Ostmark's democratic and liberal values" he said. "We must defend our liberal values" he continued "Against those who wish to destroy Ostmark's democracy" to "Replace it with an obscurantist and totalitarian regime" he concluded.

HUNDREDS INTELLECTUALS SIGN JOINT STATEMENT IN DEFENSE OF DEMOCRACY
"Now is the time when all of us must stand up for democracy" said Kanzler Hans Pommer.

You must be registered for see images

By Karl Rutter

WIEN (Ostmark) - More than three hundreds Ostmarkian intellectuals, writers, poets, artists and politicians have signed a joint statement warning that Ostmarkian democracy is under threat and must be defended. “The outcome of the Great War represents a formidable global challenge to democracy. Authoritarian leaders around the world see the upcoming political and economic crisis as a new political battleground in their fight to stigmatize democracy as feeble and reverse its dramatic gains of the past few decades,” the statement says.

While it is unsurprising that authoritarian political movements are using the crisis to rise to power, some nations have also introduced emergency powers that restrict human rights and enhance repression without the necessary safeguards to ensure measures can be rolled back, the statement says. The statement is aimed at raising awareness and mobilizing citizens and policymakers to protect democracy, recognizing that this is the most effective system for handling global crises while protecting the rights of all citizens, particularly minorities and vulnerable groups.

The effort was initiated by the Wien-based organization Fridericus Rex Study Center, named after ostmarkian King Frederick the Great who first introduced a democratic constitution in the Kingdom of Ostmark in the autumn of 1723. “This unprecedented demonstration of solidarity in Ostmark is a sign that democracy, while threatened, is also resilient,” said Chancellor Pommer, who also signed the joint statement. “Now is the time when all of us must stand up for democracy. We need to make it clear to everyone what is at stake and that we will not allow leaders with authoritarian tendencies to use this or other crises to increase their power and decrease our rights. Pro-democratic movements everywhere need to unite to confront the authoritarian challenge” said the Kanzler “To strengthen democracy, we believe it is urgent to expand parliamentary representation and democratic participation of citizens to national and international institutions,” he added.

We applaud the words by His Majesty King Ludwig. It is indeed our divine duty to maintain peace.
We also support the Statement in Defence of Democracy as phrased by the Fridericus Rex Study Centre. Democracy is the best way to realise what is best for the people, but democracy is also something that needs to be constantly maintained and evaluated.
