The Chateau de Montosoreau had fallen into disrepair in recent years, the chateaus original owners had perished during the 1921 revolution and it had sat crumbling and empty for decades until Andre Thier an investment banker from Vallespir had bought it and restored it to its former glory. It had been a labour of love and now after five years it was finally completed. Andre was looking out from his bedroom balcony enjoying his morning coffee as he was sipping the coffee and taking in the view he saw five black cars come down the driveway and men spill out into the surrounding grounds with several making their way to the chateaus front door.
Andre made his way to the door where the one of the men was knocking furiously at the door.
" Open up in the name of the Committee for the defense of the Confederation ( Comité pour la défense de la Confédération), this property and surrounding environs is now being confiscated in the name of the Bezonvauxian people you have twenty four hours to vacate the property and remove any personal possessions, any property personal or otherwise remaining after the twenty four hours will also be confiscated".
Andre looked at the men who had come to steal his home, they wore uniforms not dissimilar to the police, they had batons at their waists and looked as if they would have no qualms using them. One of the men spoke a rough looking shaven headed man.
" Mr Thier if you were to refuse to comply with the demands of the Committee for the defense of the Confederation, you would be subject to criminal charges....so if you know whats good for you pack your shit and leave...this isn't your land anymore".
Jules Rousseau had had many jobs over the years and this was by far his favourite, where else would he get a chance to give all these rich pricks a lesson..and make good money doing so?
