Claret Sea, between Rügen and Bremen
Frigate Meppen

Exactly when the RSK started the liberation of the Sturmvogel, the distress signal of the Fridericus Rex came in. Lieutenant-Captain Hörschelmann immediately discussed with the leader of the operation on the amphibious assault ship Rügen. The outcome of the discussion was, that the Meppen would offer its assistance immediately, and that the Coast Guard from Rügen would offer assistance as well.

"This is the frigate Meppen from the Eiffelloretalian Navy, Kapitänleutnant Hörschelmann speaking. We are sending two helicopters to the last known location of the Fridericus Rex to offer assistance. We are sailing there as well. Furthermore, the Eiffelloretalian coast guard is preparing to offer assistance."

While the RSK was liberating the Sturmvogel and the Meppen was sailing away to the Fridericus Rex, nobody noticed that the hi-jackers were putting two rubber boats with outboard engines in the water, and sailed away from the Sturmvogel.

All-Union Naval Facilities
Sudinsel
Ostmark

Things had been busy in the All-Union Naval Facilities in Sudinsel as of late. The fact that the Kadikistani Union had these facilities were the result of the , in which both countries swore to strengthen and defend themselves through mutual efforts. Recently the countries of the Long Sea and beyond were seemingly trying to outdo one another when it came to naval exercises in the area which meant that the Sudensel facility was on the front row when it came to monitoring these events and gathering information. Leaving most of the geopolitical grand gestures to the Pelasgians the All-Union wasn't very vocal about these issues and would only act when the vital trade-routes were truly endangered.

What happened today would not only be an act of humanitarianism, but also an opportunity for the All-Union government to display its good intentions to the Ostmarkian people. The latter being the newest members of the illustrious Rurikgrad Pact. The distress message had been intercepted by the Control Room, which included radar and radio systems. Kontraadmiral Ivica Seselj was the commanding officer at the facility and a man known for his decisive action without using more words than necessary. "What vessels do we have in the area?", he asked with his usual brutish tone. His subordinates replied that one destroyer and two frigates were only a few dozen nautical miles away from where the distress call was originating from. "Send them over immediately, if they have not answered the mayday call themselves by now."

When confronted by his adjutant that an Eiffeloratalian frigate was also on the way Konraadmiral simply replied: "We should make all efforts to be the first to reach the site. Assholes and elbows. Should we fail we will assist to the best of our abilities."

"Herr Kaleu, the Ludovicus Rex and the Annika II are already at the location of the accident. No signs of the Fridericus Rex, many people are lying in the water, not everybody is moving," one of the helicopter pilots said.
"What? The Fridericus Rex sank that fast? Thank you for the information. The Ludovicus Rex is currently in charge of the operation. Communicate directly with its captain. Rescue as many people as possible, and divide the people over the Ludovicus Rex and the Annika II. I will contact Bremen that they start communications with the Kadikistani and the Ostmarkers about you landing on their vessels.," Lieutenant-Captain Hörschelmann said.
"Jawohl, Her Kaleu," the helicopter pilot said.

"But there is one thing I ask myself. How can it be that the Fridericus Rex sank so fast?" Hörschelmann asked himself after having contacted the Navy headquarters in Bremen.

Meanwhile, the complete Sturmvogel had been secured. Upon decision by Commodore Lechner, a part of the RSK would stay on the Sturmvogel, and the other part would travel to the scen while the helicopters of the amphibious assault assault ship Rügen were refueled and sent to the scene as well. On the one hand, it would be very well possible that the Rügen would not be necessary any more when it arrived. On the other hand, you never knew.

As soon as the helicopters were in place, the crew started to hoist people out of the water. One of the helicopter pilots screamed over the radio: "Verdammte Scheisse, you need a instead of a in this weather." He himself was flying a Seehabicht helicopter.

Trier

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gianluigi di Gravesano-Carone phoned the military attachés of the Ostmarker and Kadikistani embassies out of their beds, with the request that the Eiffelloretalian helicopters could land on Ostmarker and Kadikistani ships when needed.

Onboard the container ship OOCL Icarus

You must be registered for see images

The captain of the Icarus container ship had been awoken by the first mate and rushed to the bridge, briefed along the way about the mayday call from an Ostmarkian cruise ship that had apparently sunk in very little time. The Icarus belonged to the Nedernesian container line Occidental Overseas Container Line, one of the largest in the world. It was halfway through its current route, having come from Sandhavn in the Dune Sea, it had made a previous stop in Azraq and was now headed to Bremen to take on the bulk of its container load, before offloading some of those containers in Auraria, Petit-Pays and finally Nedernesia.

The captain immediately ordered the helmsman to alter course to the last know position and to prepare the rafts and a rescue operation. He sounded the general alarm to awake all 32 crew.

'Get me on the fucking radio' he bellowed as the behemoth of a ship slowly changed route and gradually picked up speed.

'Attention to all vessels in the area, this is Captain Hansa of the OOCL Icarus. We are enroute to the last known position of the Fredericus Rex. We have ample space for recused persons and will send out rafts with rescue crews once we have reached the area in approximately two hours.'

The captain turned to the first mate, 'Send out messages to the Eiffelanders, Ostmarkers and the Kadikistanis that we are here to help and can take on as many people as needed until they can be transported to land. Let's hope there are still people to save.'

"Ludovicus Rex, SMS Rügen calling on Channel 16. We are still looking for bodies; none found. We fear that the remaining victims weren't able to get off the ship, for whichever reason. We also have the impression that the Fridericus Rex sank in a very rapid pace. It is needed to investigate what exactly happened. We recommend that a search action for the Fridericus Rex is started."
