'Paradise'. The term our government often uses to describe our beaches. Yea, they're beautiful. Justosia is more than that though. Avalon is more than that. Damn tourists. Suppose I shouldn't say that. Those pompous asses are my livelihood. I work at a beach resort. The snoot. Not all of us agree with our government. Or totally disagree. Hell. Stay on Victoria Street for a week. Really know us. Clouds? Please. The litany of nationalist party banners this side are our cloud cover. Our city is actually split politically. One Senator from each party. Both the speakers. My side is NRB despite being oh so urban. Social conservatism runs pretty strong here. West side too. North and East Avalon are pretty SDU heavy. Me? I'm Independent. I didn't even vote last election. I swear I woke up drunk still that morning. Night shift was hell.

"Hey, you. Everything alright?"

Oh good the Capital Police. Caps as we....affectionately call them.

"Identification please."

I dug through my right pocket and produced.

"...........Stop making us jumpy. Pull the hoodie down. Also that knife. Legal, but not helping your case. Be careful kid. Viva Francisco." He returned my ID and went on his way.

Is he allowed to say that? I thought they were supposed to be impartial. Whatever. I guess he gets to vote too. I continued on my way to my spot. I'm hungry. Pizza. Boos. Wine. Grind. Justosia.

"Welcome to the southern tip of civilization and please don't talk politics to me. No. We moved here, or were blessed enough to be born here to be away from that ninety nine percent of the time. Even though the PM and House Alessandro have their vacation villas here. Occitan Princess Mirèo de Marsilia, former fiancé of the Crown Prince, lives here under asylum too. Everything is laid back here. Even the cops. I love it here. The wheelings and dealings of Avalon seldom reach here. We live here to be in peace. Alotta veterans and ex politicians here who need a quieter life. This is the closest to the 'paradise' our government boasts of. Occitan tourism here boomed before the war. So did Gunnish tourism until a couple weeks ago apparently. New foreigners here might view this as an aberration from the rest of Justosia. They'd likely welcome it.

See that island? Yes so close to the coast. Eyesore? Or did God bless us with a natural shield from any ravages of this world? It's simply glorious to climb. Especially if you're high. The beach front is mostly for tourists. You could say Justosia really begins in the suburbs. I imagine some up north don't even know this place exists. We'd like it to stay that way. Cortoba soothes my PTSD. I work at a beach resort now. Got the night off tonight. I may spend it on the beach. I proposed to my wife here. She's up north for N.S.S. training. Don't really wanna talk about that. I wish those who live in nations hostile to us could spend a few weeks here. Nothing, nowhere, no one is ever what it, they seem, anywhere. I'll die here, happily. Our kids God willing will do better here than I did. Avalon? PFFT. This is the jewel of the south."
