A casual conversation between the Chief of the Central State Security Service (YKAK), Lt. General Alexandros Theodōridīs, and the Sakellarios of the Empire, Lord Themistoklīs Notaras, is unfolding, as the two are watching a rendition of S. Theophrastou's opera "The Lordly Peasant".

"And the Justosians?"

"We fed them a bunch of false information and then sent what's left of them down south to deliver a message to those barbarians and their 'King'. Fools, they thought we wouldn't notice agents from a country that just came out of isolation; they stuck out like sore thumbs. Even tried to bribe an YKAK Major in uniform."

"Leave it to the Justosians to go in over their depth. I take it you interrogated them?"

"Yes, they gave us some treats de royale, hoping they could save their little skins. Most of them anyway; but we took it all with a grain of salt. Besides, it's not like we need to know all that much about that God-forsaken land."

"Thankfully YKAK never bothered to even send an intelligence attaché down there when we had a diplomatic mission. What an immense waste of resources it would be to have spies down there. We could spend the funds on monitoring seagulls near Warre or something of equal import."

A shipping container was unloaded from a freighter registered under a Port Stanley flag. As it was inspected by customs agents, a foul smell and considerable ruckus among the guard dogs led the customs agents to demand that it be opened. It was, and soon enough the heads of a dozen or so men dropped out of the container, with their mangled bodies piled behind them. Placed neatly inside a sealed box where their fake and real papers, which exposed them as Justosian spies in Pelasgia.

On the same day, a letter arrived at the office of the Justosian Minister of Foreign Affairs, allegedly sent from some import and export company in Port Stanley.

Mr. Torres,

Some rats of a breed native to your country have been found on our property and exterminated. In the future, please make sure to keep a tighter control of pests native to your country, to avoid them leaking into the more sanitised corners of the world, or else we might have to sue you for the costs associated with the extermination. We did not seek punitive damages this time around; we will not show such restraint in the future.

Yours truly,
