Anderson Steelworks Closed Down

Following a dire development with decreasing demand for its product, Anderson Steelworks, one of the largest producer of steel in the state, has closed down. After filing for bankruptcy, several thousand workers face unemployment. Anderson Steelworks was a famous example for the policy of "Union moderation" with steelworkers accepting lower pay and longer workhours to protect the business in times of crisis. Union representatives have called the the bankruptcy a "betrayal by management", noting that the former steel magnate and owner of the company Henry Anderson continues to be one of the richest Implarians alive while avoiding any contractual obligations in regards to laid off workers after the company declared bankruptcy.
