The Premios de Música, more commonly known as the Premios, were created in 1990 by the Industria Fonográfica de Río de Oro (INFONO) as an outlet to showcase the many forms of music which had flourished in Rio de Oro following the end of the military regime. In 1996 INFONO decided to open up the awards to music from all Aurarian-speaking nations and in 2009 the awards added an international category to showcase music from other nations. All of this has helped to make the Premios one of the worlds most prestigious music awards.

Why do they deserve the award?: Starting their career early in the 1970s, Nkosi Family has become a symbol of Natalian culture bringing together the Aurarian, Himyari and even Engellexic culture that forms today Natalia and in their early career, their more social themed songs have been seen as a lifeline for many of the people that were suffering in the economic downturn and violence of the mid to late 1970s. The boom of the 80s and 90s have pushed Nkosi Family even further, with better sounds and an even larger audience, now becoming a cultural reference for the Natalian music scene.
