Salutations à Son Excellence Monsieur le Président,

It is with a great sense of duty, and honour that I am redacting this letter towards Your Excellency with the hope to reach the common ground our nations have shared, and pursue to this day without a single doubt, to say. Our fundamental values of liberty and sense of Justice honours us, but unfortunately for our World those values remain sparsely shared and acknowledged. We need to ensure the continuity of our traditions while keeping an eye on the future, by spreading as much as it is possible in our modest means those values. This is with distinction and happiness that I am sending you this letter, for inviting Your Excellency to Nouvelle-Ville, the capital of our Republic in order to reaffirm to the World that both our nations have never failed to express and support those values, which pursue to be relevant more then ever given the geopolitical context.

The meeting I hope to attend with Your Excellency shall also admire our share of culture, that throughout the ages never stopped to amaze the World by its distinction from the other regions of the World. Even if it remains true that today we do not share a common border by the ground we possess, this cultural barrier that remains true today which continually throughout the centuries allowed exchanges and fruitful creations, is more active then ever at the hour of the internet. It is our will to proceed to further cultural exchanges, by soliciting those existing and extending them.

I, the République Fleuroise and our people shall be honoured if you deemed consider and accept our request for the organisation of such meeting, at your earliest convenience,

Dear Minister Richard,

I am writing in response to an invitation for the President of the Republic, the Honorable Manuel Sanabria Zapatero, to visit the Fleurian Capital city of Nouvelle-Ville in order to further enhance the diplomatic ties between our two countries.

Indeed, the Aurarine Republic and the Fleurian Republic share a unity in the principles of sovereignty to remain supremely in the position of the people and that any expression of sovereignty can only be derived with the express consent of the people. Therefore, in both Auraria and Fleur leaders are chosen by the people based on their ideas, merit, and talent. This stands in stark contrast to places in the world were leaders are pre-ordained by a fictional belief in higher deities or simple matter of blood. This bond, alone, in spite of any other cultural barrier between the Aurarine and Fleurian Republic, compels us both to seek stronger diplomatic ties and indeed a friendship.

Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I, Minister Rodrigo Ferreiro of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, inform you that President Manuel Sanabria has accepted your invitation and would be proud to travel to Nouvelle-Ville for a summit. My office shall be in touch about the proper arrangements.

Honours and trumpets. This would be the code name of this summit, which was to allow the meeting of two nations, that even if shared different culture, mostly when coming to the table at noon, were so close in their values. Richard had in mind the usual panache to be show cased to the Presidente Zapatero, and it was without a certain leisure and pleasure that he himself participated to the establishment of the planning to welcome properly who, who might be considered in a close time, as the great friend of the Republic. Sharing common ambitions for Humanity, and deadly enemies of Liberty such as Serenierre, the two men were to hold a decisive meeting turned around many matters.

Tradition was, the red carpet unveiled, a regiment of the Garde Républicaine deployed along an orchestra for playing both national anthems as both flags would wave in the stronger wind of the Aéroport République, at the Terminal Liberté, precisely reserved and fully privatised for the Republic, as it was the place from where all appointed Legats and Consuls were taking off to spread throughout the glob, and represent the Republic at each corner of this never stopping and changing World. « Bienvenue mon Ami » would throw without hesitation Richard, as soon as the Presidente Zapatero would have a foot on the Fleuroix ground, under paparazzi’s watch.

"Gracias, mi amigo," the Aurarian President responded - shaking Richard's hand to a flurry of cameras. At only 180 cm (5ft, 11in) the Aurarian President usually wasn't the tallest person in the room - but appearances mattered. He had become rather skilled at positioning himself in such a way to convey stature and strength. He had walked a few paces forward, to be standing next to the Fluerian Minister, so in photos it was his hand that was on top. "Small, but important details," he remembered reading in his briefing packets.

After pausing for a long enough amount of time for the press to get their fill, the two men walked toward the limo that was waiting to take them both out of the airport. Two security details opened the door to the limo, allowing the two men to enter. President Sanabria's horde of personal aides and staff piled into the cars in the back of the motorcade.

"A lovely welcome," he said in such a way it was clear he had been rehearsing basic French sentences prior to arrival. Sanabria was from the South of Catamarca, near Andaluz - escaping Serenien influence that had encapsulated the northern areas of the country.

"Shall we be on our way?" he said, in Aurarian - a translator conveyed the message.

The President Sanabria would seems to not enjoy his position at the initial hand-shake, as he would feel the need to change position it seems, while we were greeting one another. Changing the angle for paparazzis? Strange. Richard wouldn’t think less, but would put this aside, as the ego of a man of state was to be placed in the cupboard, and everything that counted in the end were concrete results, facts, texts wrote down and agreed upon, as a servant of the Republic. Even if it remained true, in demographic terms the Aurarine Republic was almost four (4) time larger, the Fleuroix economy made half of theirs, and of that, Richard wasn’t afraid of.

Even if it have been true Richard was lacking Larsigian as a secondary language to learn, he did not commit this mistake for the Aurarine language, after all he was he a diplomat from profession, another lacuna wouldn’t have been agreed on. Translators were therefore not needed, « Let us do so » would therefor invite Richard to get into the car, as it would allow the two men to have a face to face discussion while in the car, as he let enter the President first, and would follow him, before having the escort departing towards the Palais des Libertés. A train connection existed from the Aéroport République to Nouvelle-Ville, but it would be less, respectful, let us say so, for the special foreign dignitary and its delegation. In a few minutes, through a special underground passage, the escort would move on from the tarmac of the airport, and head towards the meeting-place where more people could sit and potentially talk at once.

« Any refreshment? » proposed Richard, as a mini-bar had been established in the car, just in front of their seat. After Sanabria’s answer and served him, Richard would serve himself a simple glass of water. « I suspect the border with Serenierre have been quite active since last Summer, given the new occupation of Occitania by their forces? » first engaged in Aurarine, as he wished to start the talk, to eventually end up with some content that may be put on paper, before the bureaucrats a few cars behind could reach them.

“Thank you,” the President said for the water. He was slightly embarrassed that Richard could speak fluent Aurarian, but he struggled Fleurian. He unbuttoned his jacket and leaned back in his seat.

“First, let me thank you for the invitation. It seems lately that the only correspondence that Marisela Palace processes is the dogmatic babbling of the Justosians. It was pleasant to read a letter that conveyed a thought,” the President told Richard. He took another sip of his water.

“The border with Serenierre has actually gone slightly different than planned,” the President stated “The Serenien are a cruel, vicious people but their actions have intent. They don’t destroy just for the sake of it, they’re very determined to accomplish a mission. Once they accomplish it, they go back to their own business. I suppose I am saying that the border is much quieter than suspected. Though that could in part be due to the fact that a conflict with Auraria would prove more damaging than anything else. I imagine you have your own border concerns, with Crotobaltislavonia and all.”

« It is almost as if you were expression admiration for them » said, on a laughing-tone Richard, as Sanabria was explaining how the new border resulted in. Given the large maritime opening that they benefited from, it was a minor convenience probably after all. The region, geopolitically seems tense, behind those calm fences. Effectively, the Fleuroix have been trying to remain apart from those recent events, and shall willingly pursue to do so, however given their land-locked situation, isolationism in politics would result in difficulties when coming to economics, enhance why Richard launched that many initiatives. One of whom, was this particular meeting with Auraria.

« As for the border with Crotobaltislavonia, things are more complex then it seems unfortunately » admitted Richard, « Our only border concern » clarified Richard, meaning other relations with neighbours were quite stable and normalised. « Border controls are becoming more and more of an issue, with all the bureaucracy behind, tying up with late schedules to create stress for travellers » would softly transition Richard, « I believe Visa-free travel for a duration less then 3 months might be an enviable agreement between our respective nations, what do you think? ».

The President laughed at Richard's insinuation. Perhaps, to some extent, there was an admiration? Or least envy.

"Perhaps not an admiration, per say," the President replied "but an appreciation for their openness. The Serenien do what the Serenien say they're going to do. The Slavonians certainly do present their own share of challenges. I am particularly concerned on the country's recent expulsion of Jews to Polesia. The situation there is dire but I am not sure how much the Aurarians are willing to get involved - we would welcome refugees, of course, but how they'd get here is an entire logistics problem. But we can discuss that at a different time. As for travel, yes I think it would make complete sense to allow visa-free travel. Whatever I can do to make it easier for Aurarians to see this beautiful country."

« It’s almost as if you were to make me blush » admitted with a humouristic tone, as President Sanabria complimented the rather small nation of Fleur on a geopolitical scale. The situation Crotobaltislavonia being complex, as it was a neighbour of the Republic, would be better discussed if sit around a table with documents available thought Richard.

« And I shall make sure Auraria is being discovered by our compatriots » reacted Richard. « Maybe it isn’t an insane idea, but what would your Excellency think about a student exchange program? » suggested Richard, keen to write down other notes for the Treaty he was already preparing in his head to put down on paper as soon as they arrived.

The escort would finally enter into Nouvelle-Ville. It had this impression one can have when looking at ancient cities in movies, one architectural style only allowed,

“Of course, an exchange program would be an excellent idea. It has long been a principle of the Aurarians that greater appreciation for the world can be achieved if one sees it with their own eyes,” Sanabria replied “The world is a big and beautiful place, I would hate for the youth of Fleur or Auraria to only see such small slivers of it. My Minister for Education and Culture will reach out to his counterpart in Fleur about establishing such a program.”

As the group pulled into Nouvelle-Ville, President Sanabria’s team began to prepare for the more intricate policy points of the meeting. Fleur was considered a great potential ally for the Republic with the political similarities alone being enough to spur a prosperous relationship. Fleur was the only other Gallian country to not succumb to communism, monarchy, nor the vices of the church.

The group was escorted out of their vehicles and into the building.

The car would have its escort be removed and move aside, as it’d allow the limousine to move forward alone, and enter into the Court. « Shall we take a liqueur to warm ourselves? » suggested Richard, as he proposed the President to move first. A liqueur, was a rather strong Fleuroix alcohol which was more then needed if you weren’t used of those climates.
