VIRUMAAN STRAIT - OCTOBER 17th

Northern Army professional forces move into position near the closest coastal region to the continental areas of Virumaa, setting up large fortifications along the beachheads. Northern ships flirt with the international boundary lines that separate Virumaan and Northern waters, continuing to probe in violation of international treaties. The island in the middle of the strait takes particular interest from the Northern People's Navy, where several midget submarines scout right off of the coast.

The forces observe a strict telecommunications silence, not allowing much opportunity for interception. Any attempt to hail them is generally met by quick warning to stay back or face legal repercussions.

Later in the night, the mines laid by Virumaa had struck a victim. Perhaps voluntarily, a frigate attached to the Strait Force was destroyed by a large mine. The naval forces of the North then began patrolling in unison with their communist submariner comrades from Virumaa, supporting their blockading actions.
