Operation Hagedorn
The Eiffellandian government did not have the intention to control the events in the East. It did not want to be involved in the war in Yujin, either. But contrary to what the Ministry for Foreign Affairs said, it was known to the government that it was the Emperor himself who had ordered the use of chemical and biological weapons. All government members agreed in their opinion on the Emperor: The man was a psychopathological mass‑murder. But a communist Yujin was a nightmare scenario as well; therefore, the government was in a diabolic dilemma. It decided to remain neutral.
But a disruption of the Sikandari trade was considered a major problem, because Eiffelland depended largely on Sikandari oil. Therefore, it was decided to at least protect the Sikandari vessels destined for Eiffelland and Nichtstein. It was unknown whether the Tyrrhenians depended on Sikandari oil as well, but when needed, the Eiffellandians would also protect the Sikandari vessels destined for Tyrrhenia, despite the fact that Tyrrhenia was an RDTO member.
Emden was the home base of the III. Flotte, Eiffelland’s third carrier fleet. This fleet would be dispatched to the Long Sea to serve as a basis for Eiffelland’s mission to protect Sikandari vessels. But the III. Flotte would not go alone. A group of 5 torpedo boats, 10 destroyer escorts, 10 attack submarines and 10 frigates would accompany it. Everybody was working hard to prepare the many ships. It was expected that the fleet would set sail on 9 April 1954.
