Yesterday the met the Fàlthaiksha in the great Sheîth monastery. it has been an historical night as it was the first time for Fàlthaiksha Lîbir Sâhlji'li iki Nâkthareh.
It marks the end of a period of tensions between the two powerful personalities that culminated in a great protest in the capital city that almost escalated in violence after the killing of 5 protesters by the military police, followed by a nation-wide strike of many labourers that convinced the Fàlthaiksha-backed Constitution League party to renounce to the proposed increase of taxation to the middle to low incomes; proposition that almost destroyed the decade-long coalition with the religious Eclipse Movement.
Prime minister Âpathce Thîmlah was acknowledge as the mediator between the two giants.

recorded voice of Âpathce Thîmlah:

"we still need to find a way to fund the increasing costs of education, the proposal for new scholarship projects for the state universities is not yet to be abandoned, we need highly trained individuals if we aim to a better future for our civilization and economy"

Îthosh Krîthra:

On other news: ostwave, a strange music from europe, has reached the fàlthaikshadom, particularly appreciated in the big cities, is finding his place in many discotheques.
This winter solstice celebrations will be held in the city of Uthêirulah as planned, the council of eleders says, the rituals will start at 12pm and end at 12am. this year the Thâribah will take part to the final ritual and make a speech in the large temple in the north of the city, you can easily reach it by following the road signs to Kâlthai.
That was all for today.

The Fàlthaiksha's new year speech was highly anticipated.
After a political defeat in the parliament, and the humiliation suffered recently, as he had to visit the Thâribah, to save the governing coalition. His Majesty seemed to be weaker than ever, both politically and physically.

[/div]

The speech remained vague on the aforementioned events, and moved on with a prise to the people of Shaeoiumlah for their hard work, underlining the positive state of the economy, and expressing His desire for the nation to expand economically by signing new international trade deals in the course of the next year.

He then spoke about the positive work done in modernizing the army, and announced the intention of organizing a military parade in the capital city.

In the last part of the speech the monarch expressed the wish of improving the working conditions of the Sâh'li labourers, an interesting turnaround that some have interpreted as an opening to the left-wing Workers Party, interpretation that has worried the Eclipse Movement. Or as a final white flag to the protests that erupted recently.

For those who expected a strong speech, reassuring the citizens of the well being of the state, this was quite a disappointment.
The picture of the nation that emerges from the Fàlthaiksha is that of a timid and troubled empire.

[/div]During the final vote on the national expenditures forecast of the new year, the unexpected abstention of the Constitution League party, has blocked the proposition.

The NEF is a non-binding public expenditure guideline, taking into account the predicted financial resources available to the state, is used by the government as the main reference for any new financial plan and law; it was discussed protractedly in the Council of Ministers and informally approved by the two governing parties.

Today it would have been the time to approve it formally before the year-end holidays, but the recent political clashes between the two parties seem not to be over yet.

After the protests in Thêrebe, the numerous wounded, and the few casualties, it seemed that the moderate right had surrendered to the influence of the Eclipse Movement, but the dejected speech of the Fàlthaiksha reinvigorated the minds of the party, that now seeks revenge in the name of the defeated monarch, to defend the constitution from ever more pressing religious interference in the political decision-making process.

The parliamentarians of the religious right were furious, and the debate soon turned into noise and even physical clashes between the parliamentarians of the two fronts. In all this chaos the opposition, the Workers Party, remained silent, certainly amused by the internal conflict between the two eternal political brothers.
voices inside the government offices reveal that the prime minister Âpathce Iôru'li iki Thîmlah, a loved figure according to the polls (64% of citizens support him), could be on the verge of resigning, finding the government alliance now too damaged to survive.

"we are sailing on a burning ship" the prime minister is said to have commented, as he learned about the situation in the chamber.

_____________________________THÂRIBAH SPEECH
The Thâribah surprised the political scene with a de-escalating speech during the winter solstice rituals.
"The Fàlthaiksha has given proof of his commitment to the well-being of his people" She said "our nation must keep itself together to survive the stormy weather affecting our world".
Wise words, appropriate for the sacred figure She represents; another step towards reconciliation, in line with the debated speech of His Majesty.[div] style="border: 1px dotted violet;; width: 400px; padding: 8px; float:right" |

It is now the political parties turn to close this violent chapter and reunite the lasting coalition, but it won't be an easy task. the elections option is still on the table, as the Constitution Party is confident to win more votes and gain even more influence over the coalition. and conspiracy theories believing in plots to kill the religious leader are driving the more radical parts of the Eclipse Movement away from their brothers.
More moderate politicians inside the Movement are even considering to form their own party.
Kôutha Ûthaush, a representative of the moderates said to our newspaper "I'm not saying it's going to happen tomorrow, but a more progressive religious branch of the Movement already exists, and at some point we won't be able to breathe in this tight environment that is the Eclipse"

THE CANAL_____________________________

[/div]According to some leaked informations from the government it was intention of the Constitution League to open an internal debate over the creation of a canal connecting the great îahmakk lake to the northern sea. a great project that would require large investments, but that would create many jobs and economic opportunities for the area.

The proposition was abandoned as the tensions inside the coalition arised, but will surely be back on the table now that the public is aware of it.
Malicious minds are finding the timing of the leak quite intriguing, and hint at the possibility that this was staged to bait the Eclipse Movement moderate politicians out of their party to create a new, smaller, but more stable majority.
There has been no official statement from either party yet, regarding this event.

After an inconclusive month in the parliament chambers, prime minister Âpathce Iôru'li iki Thîmlah decided to start a confidence vote to test the waters.
The result wasn't surprising, the executive has still the full support of the Constitution League party, while little more than half of the religious Eclipse Movement voted against it.
In a press conference the prime minister announced his intention to consult the Fàlthaiksha and step down.
If the Monarch will give his approval, new elections might start as soon as this week.

Meanwhile the internal divisions inside the Eclipse Movement have finally erupted in a formal schism.
The parliament member Kôutha Sâhlji'li iki Ûthaush, prominent member of the more moderate part of the Eclipse Movement announced the creation of a separate parliament group that will unite anyone willing to leave the Movement, like him and others already have done after the failed confidence vote.

[div] style="border: 1px dotted green;; width: 400px; padding: 8px; float:right" |

[/div]What have you said to the Fàlthaiksha, and what was the answer?
"I reached the Ivy Palace in the evening, and was received by His Majesty in less than ten minutes, I'm sure he was well aware of the topic I was about to discuss.
I clearly stated that my leadership was not supported by a majority in the Chamber and I was no longer fit to work on his behalf in parliament. I expressed my displeasure for the current political situation and how a new election, in my own humble opinion, would have been necessary to find a new balance.
His Majesty acknowledged my suggestion and accepted my resignation"

So there will be an election?
"His Majesty decided to take some time to think, but I was informed this morning, by the Imperial Office, that the decision was indeed taken. so I can now confirm that the Chamber will be renewed this month"

Do you think the elections will solve the internal tensions that have hampered the parliament so far?
"I certainly hope so, I think the official split in the Eclipse Movement will change the political spectrum in a way we haven't seen in a while, the end of the lasting coalition is, in itself, a crucial event. but I'm sure the Constitution League is up to the task, we will gain more influence in the Chamber, I'm sure the regional councils see the destabilizing effect of the religious influence over our political system, and will take action by voting the only reliable political party"

Will you run as the Constitution League main candidate?
"Being the prime minister of the Fàlthaikshadom is an hard job, that requires diplomacy and strong determination, it is a tiring job, and I wouldn't ever consider becoming Prime Minister again if we lived in different times. today we are surrounded by external and internal threats, and my party have expressed their support for me as their candidate, so I feel obliged, by patriotism and party brotherhood, to accept this burden"

What about the canal project, does it have a future?
"The canal project is still very much alive, our party intends to try opening a debate after the elections, when there will be a functioning government majority. the Eclipse Movement rejected the proposal because they are afraid of prosperity, that is the truth, they are afraid prosperity will decrease their influence over the nation. I certainly don't fear change, nor prosperity for my people, and neither does my party. a strong Shaeoiumlah is what we want, and what we can achieve with the support of the voters"

Impending elections
The parliament group founded by the Eclipse Movement deserter, Kôutha Sâhlji'li iki Ûthaush, has officially become a separate party with the name: "National Covenant".
The party is said to have a stronger independence from the religious authorities and internal democracy than the Movement, a claim that will need to be verified.

[div] style="border: 1px dotted green;; width: 400px; padding: 8px; float:right" |

[/div]
There was no official statement from the Thâribah regarding the split in the Movement, but the dismay is perceptible inside the many monasteries around the Fàlthaikshadom, the event is regarded as a failure of the politicians to find a solution to a mere internal power struggle.

Meanwhile the date of the elections has been announced by the Ivy palace, the vote will take place on January 8.
The projections see the newly formed political party to take away half of the Movement voters, and the Movement itself is in danger of being rendered insignificant.
The far-right party Patriots will find its way into the Chamber for the first time since its establishment.
The Thâribah has called for the regional councils to vote carefully, as a right wing parliament could threaten the Sâh'li way of life in favour of the Christian west.
Fears of a collapse of diplomatic relations with Kadikistan, might steer some voters in the west back in the hands of the religious leader.

SOUTHERN FLEET DEPLOYED__________

the flotilla, commanded by commodore Lîth 'iki Nôljor[/div]
A group of reconnaissance and anti-submarine destroyers have left the Shâlthal naval base in the south-west coast.
The move comes after the rise of tensions originated by the naval exercises carried out by @Justosia in the vicinity of Brecosta.
The official mission of the flotilla, as stated by admiral Ôkrahl Sâhlji'li iki Ânfaieh, is "an exercise to test new surveillance systems" and the timing is "a mere coincidence".

The decision of the government of @Auraria to move an impressive fleet in the eastern Hamar sea have rised eyebrows.
The area is considered to be part of the Shaeoiumlan sphere of influence by the central government, and the Aurarian move has worried the defence minister, which stated "the Fàlthaikshadom considers Auraria to be a valuable trading partner and friend, that is why the deployment of their fleet in this area, without notifying the Sâh'li navy, was a bitter surprise for us" furthermore the ministry announced that an unarmed patrol ship will be following the Aurarian fleet "to ensure the respect of international law"

Office of the Foreign Minister
The government of the Great Southern Kingdom of is heartened to know the aggressive, imperialistic, erratic Aurarine move has started being met with reactions like this.

Now the evidence is irrefutable. The radical republic of Auraria is pushing Himyar, perhaps all of Europe to a very unnecessary war. We'd further like your government to know that our legal & previously announced defence exercises with our formal ally have been completed & our fleet has returned home. We wish you glad tidings. Viva Justosia.

EL PRESIDENTE DE LA REPÚBLICA
LA REPÚBLICA AURARIANA

23 Glaciemes CXCIX | 7 January 2019

The Honorable Âpathce Iôru’li iki Thîmlah
Prime Minister
The Fàlthaikshadom of Shaeoiumlah
Thêrebe, Shaeoiumlah

Dear Prime Minister iki Thîmlah,

I am writing to you today in refernce to comments made by your Minister of Defense in regard to the deployment of the Aurarian FOSMH, in partnership with the Pelasgian Empire, without giving prior notice to the Sâh’li Navy.

Firstly, allow me to apologize for any perceived transgression against the Fàlthaikshadom on the part of the Aurarian Republic. The lack of prior notification from the Aurarian Navy was not due to an interest in secrecy or subversion but instead due to the rapid response required as a result of the threat the Justosian fleet poised to Auraria. The Justosian Government has been openly hostile to the Republic under no provocation and as a result the Aurarian Republic made the determination to take immediate steps to ensure our security.

In the interest of the friendship between our states and transparency in the operations of FOSMH, the Aurarian Navy will tolerate the patrol boat’s trailing of the fleet – with consent of the Pelasgian Navy. However, the boat must remain a distance determined necessary by the FOSMH fleet as to not impede on any military operations nor conduct espionage against the fleet. We hope you find these terms agreeable.

My government remains committed to our trading partners in Shaeoiumlah and we will be prepared to answer any questions posed by your government.

All the best,

Manuel Sanabria
President

the Chamber after the elections[/div]
A stable government on the horizon as the Constitution League and their new allies, the National Covenant, reach the majority.
The parliamentary elections are complete, the voters (the regional councils) seem to have opted for a globalised and modern Shaeoiumlah.
The former, and probably future, prime minister welcomed the news with great satisfaction "this is the proof our good intentions have been noted by the people, and with these numbers on our side we can really make Shaeoiumlah a better place"

The Workers Party gives ground to the extreme left after failing to deliver.
Although favoured by some late surveys after the Hamar sea tensions, the Workers Party didn't manage to prove its worth, and after failing to convince the Constitution League to form a national unity government to avoid elections and seize the opportunity to impose its objectives, many of the diehards of the party have opted for a stronger alternative, the Progressive Socialist Union, that publicly claims to aim at a socialist Shaeoiumlah.

NEW GOVERNMENT INSTATED__________

the Ocean Palace, seat of the Sâh'li parliament and government offices since 2003[/div]
After meeting with the Fàlthaiksha and receiving His Majesty's approval, Âpathce Iôru'li iki Thîmlah is officially re-elected prime minister and will lead the CL-NC government.
As expected, the former Prime Minister, leader of the Constitution League, and his coalition with the newly formed National Covenant party was approved by the Fàlthaiksha.
The decision was to keep the former list of ministers, with little changes such as the chairman of the Fairnes of Information Board that will go to a National Covenant parliament member.
"The proof that our party is the reliable part of the Shaeoiumlan political scene is the speed at which we are getting back to work, with this new government and our friends in the National Covenant we will change this nation in something better, without, of course, challenging the spiritual leadership of the Thâribah" the Prime Minister stated.

In a press conference in the Ocean Palace, the Prime Minister prised the @Auraria-n government for its willingness to cooperate.
In a press conference after the inauguration ceremony Âpathce Iôru'li iki Thîmlah was asked what his thoughts were on the eastern Hamar tensions:
"The letter that President Manuel Sanabria sent me, that was later published by ***, was much appreciated; the Aurarian government has been kept under pressure by the @Justosia-n recent undiplomatic behaviour and acted with similar recklessness to prevent what was perceived as a provocation, or a prelude of much closer movements in the long sea. I would have preferred their navy to act less rashly, anyhow the incident has been politely solved. But let me be clear: eastern Hamar is a natural extension of the Shaeoiumlan sphere of influence, and must be respected, it is not a sloppy backyard where kids can fight".

Office of the Defence Minister
Firstly, the Great Southern Kingdom of Justosia congratulates your nation on its latest elections. Especially on the triumph of your rightist party. We agree fully with your sentiment of mutual respect for the sanctity & peace of internationale waters.

We'd also like to reiterate that these tensions are solely, utterly the fault of the war mongering Aurarine & Pelasgian 'governments'. Our previously announced & legal defence exercises with our formal ally the Occitan Kingdom were conducted in their waters, with their permission. We came to & from in internationale waters. Justosia will not allow itself to be bullied by anyone. Not Pelasgia, not Auraria, no one. Justosia will continue to utilize its right to freely navigate the high seas of internationale waters. Lastly, if need be, the Justosian Royal Navy will continue to prove how capable it is by out maneuvering & strategically embarrassing its larger war force counterparts. Viva Justosia.

We appreciated your legal conduct, but this government doesn't need nor wants to meddle in this pointless muscles flexing between the sovereign nations of @Justosia and Auraria.
The Fàlthaikshadom of Shaeoiumlah will keep a neutral stance as long as both parties respect our rightful sovereignty and influence areas, we retain the freedom of acting accordingly if either armed forces violate the peaceful condition of eastern Hamar.
The Justosian energy spent in its aggressive rhetoric would be significantly more fruitful if used to ease tensions and promote free trade and economic development.

TODAY'S HEADLINES__________
A letter signed by many prominent members of the civil society and by local politicians accuses the government of ethnic discrimination against cultural minorities and even inside the Sâh'li culture group.
In a cold and snowy morning in Thêrebe, the Prime Minister's personal secretary, and every major newspaper, received a letter signed by prominent members of the civil society and regional politicians.
The letter contains a strong condemnation of the government coalition's decision to keep the list of ministers mostly unchanged and still restricted to members of the predominant Shâlji'li Tribe.
The Prime Minister, himself member of the Iôru'li Tribe, dismissed the letter as an attempt from the leftist parties to undermine the stability of the executive.

The FALEK group signed a contract with the @Caledonia -n National Corporation of Shipbuilders, the corporation has promised to build the fleet of oil tankers for the group, leaving the @Pelasgia -ns, originally announced to be the best choice of the Shaeoiumlan company, suddenly out of the negotiations.
The Sâh'li oil and gas extraction and refinement group FALEK signed a contract with the Caledonian "National Corporation of Shipbuilders".
The corporation will now build the 25 large oil tankers needed by FALEK, a significant expansion for the historic group, needed for increasing the pool of possible clients; even the Aurarian "Standard Energy" invested in this project, in an effort to sign a contract for the delivery of oil to the republic and, of course, participate in the future earnings of the fleet.
The decision to choose the Caledonian shipyards came as a surprise as an offer was already made to the Pelasgians; the government made it very clear that a collaboration with the long-sea empire was not only an economic but an important geopolitical move to improve diplomatic relations.
This has been the first time the group acted blatantly against the government will, and voices from inside the Ocean Palace say a reshuffle in the group's executive board is being considered.

the new ships joining the week-long Hamar exercises[/div]
The @Pelasgia -n and @Auraria -n fleets are still waiting in the Hamar sea, even though the purpose of their deployment has vanquished; the Prime Minister doesn't conceal his worries on the matter.
The imposing presence of the joint FOSMH fleet was enough to force the Prime Minister to express the nation's concerns when the small Justosian fleet was sailing in the sea; the situation is boiling up even more now that the joint operation is floating in the middle of the Hamar sea without an official purpose.
To the question "is the Pelasgo-Aurarian fleet a possible threat?" asked by a reporter this afternoon, the Prime Minister responded "we are monitoring the situation, but their presence is starting to look more and more ominous".
Meanwhile the week-long exercises of the Sâh'li fleet are expanding, as more ships are joining commodore Lîth 'iki Nôljor's flottilla in eastern Hamar; the Defence Ministry has again underlined the fact that this was a planned technical exercise, and not a response to the joint naval force.

a project of the Nâhk-class aircraft carrier[/div]
After a brief meeting between a delegation of the @Lars -ian company "Mareblu s.p.a." and the deputy defence minister the contract for the creation of the two new aircraft carriers for the Sâh'li navy was signed.
The project was originally intended to be completed by Shaeoiumlan shipyards, but the less costly offer made by the more advanced and experienced rivals in Lars made the government change plans, an agreement was reached in a few days with both parties agreeing to a number of safety clauses.
The actual contract was signed this morning in Lars, Lars, where the deputy defence minister met with a delegation of the Mareblu s.p.a.
The carriers will be completed for may 2019 and the money saved will be used for better rader systems and computers.

Public Statement

In Propontis, on January 14th, 2019.

To whom it may concern,

We consider the sudden and unjustified decision of the FALEK group, contrary to the wishes of their country's own government, to have been in bad faith and completely unwarranted. After considerable negotiations and while it appeared that an agreement was ready to be produced, FALEK withdrew from negotiations without any due notice.

Whereas no formal legal sanctions are contemplated, given the lack of a tentative contractual agreement and the fact that the costs of legal action would probably exceed any losses brought upon our company through detrimental reliance, we will keep FALEK's conduct in mind in future dealings with them and with other companies from Shaeoiumlah.

Signed,

Aristotelis Kephalas
Chief Executive Officer

to: Pelasgian Shipyards A.E.

We are deeply saddened by the failing of the negotiations, and the rush decision made by the FALEK group executive council will be subject of an internal investigation.
From what have been said by the group chairman, the choice was made in accordance with the council's resolution F3.8.1.2019, which stated that "the company should consider time as the main priority" and, in case of competition, should "favour and reward celerity" in the negotiation process.

Considering the absence of a legally binding agreement between the FALEK group and the PSAE, and furthermore recognizing that the negotiations between the two didn't require any preliminary expense for the PSAE; if the events were considered as serious for the Pelasgian Shipyards as lese majesty, the Finance and Development Ministry would surely be happy to express the most sincere apologies.

We invite the PSAE not to over-react to this event to avoid losing future, more profitable, contracts.

the Lâhilthal was commissioned in 1953, and served as the Sâh'li flagship and national pride since[/div]
Thanks to the insistence of many higher ranking navy officials, the F.J. Lâhiltha won't be scrapped, but the future of the old aircraft carrier is still to be decided.
The Sâh'li flagship FJ Lâhiltha, commissioned in 1953, was set to be scrapped this year, after the launch of the new smaller carriers scheduled for May.
Many sailors who served on the Lâhiltha, joined by high ranking officials, lobbied the government to give a more honourable end to the historic flagship.
After an internal debate in the governing coalition the Defence Minister was informed that the request was accepted, the ship won't be scrapped, but the alternative is yet to be found; the solutions on the table are: selling it, sinking it, or, and this is the solution supported by the majority of the sailors involved, transforming it in a museum.

Eastern Hamar sea exercises come to an end a day after the departure of the Pelasgo-Aurarian fleet
Just a day after the retreat of the Pelasgo-Aurarian joint fleet infesting the Hamar sea, the naval exercises led by Commodore Lîth Iôru'li iki Nôljor come to an end; according to official sources the newly installed surveillance systems proved to be worth the money spent by the ministry and will ensure the Sâh'li navy to be finally competitive with the surrounding naval powers.

The oil colossus FALEK group is going to be downgraded by the Rating Commission of the Fâlthaikshalahkkra Iôpanen Kâkai from AAA to AA+, a spokesperson announced this morning.
The decision comes after the high payment made by the group for the oil tankers project, and the insecurity followed by the troubles with the Pelasgian Shipyards A.E. and the threats on future dealings.
The spokesperson calmed investors by underlining that "FALEK will surely be able to recover as soon as the profits from the oil tankers will start to cover the expenses".

The unexpected news had a slight negative effect on the group's stock value, but the declared intention of the FIK to buy shares has avoided major shocks in the market.

the protesters occupying Mâjlah Park[/div]
Protesters for direct parliament elections flood the streets of Thêrebe.
The central streets of the capital city were invaded by a group of violent protesters demanding a change in the electoral system: letting citizens vote directly for their parliament delegates.
Although the protest was kept under control by the military and the city police, many buildings were damaged and cars burned.
The Progressive Socialist Union party has openly supported the riots and asked the government to open a debate on the matter, the Workers Party timidly supported the PSU proposition but the prime minister refused "there will be no debate on the demands of a violent mob ruining our capital city and threatening law-abiding citizens".
The Fàlthaiksha communication office reports His Majesty's strong condemnation for the actions of the protesters.

The project for a canal connecting the Yurmana sea to the Âhlshai lake and hence, through the Lârilbah river, the Hamar sea, is back on the table.
After the failed attempt during the previous government coalition, where the Eclipse Movement refused to support it, the canal project is back on the table. a request for a preliminary costs and benefits estimate has been issued by the government council yesterday and will be the first step for this gargantuan national goal.
The main concerns of the opposers are the environmental impact of the canal and the traffic on the lake ecosystem, but the whole religious community is against the project aswell deeming it an insult to the lake's sacred spirit.
It will be all uphill from here, but the government seems ready to fight for this, as a connection between the Hamar and Yurmana sea would be an historic economic and strategic success.
