OOC: Nice title Eh?

Valquist Airforce Base
Dalerna, Austurland

Valquist Airforce Base, okay it wasn't really a military base, it was more like the private government airstrip for the Prime Minister, Archducal family, and important dignitaries. One, it was a lot cleaner and sterile than the average airforce base. Two, using the capital's public international airport was a security nightmare, actually a nightmare was a very big understatement.

So Valquist it was.

The airforce base swarmed with security, skillfully hidden. There were no crowds except the carefully screened reporters and their photographers from every news outlet. Lieutenant Eirik Mjallby of the Archducal Special Forces was scanning the scene. The External Affairs had really gone all out for this, Austurlander and Kyivan flags adorned nearly every inch of the airstrip. The army band was present prepared to play the Kyivan anthem. Every bit of pomp and circumstance that the government could provide was there.

Eirik looked to the left at the real reason he was sweating in his uniform. At the end of the red carpet leading from the tarmac to the terminal was the 28 year old Archduke of Austurland, and next to him was his Franken wife. Next to the royal couple was the Prime Minister. He looked to his right as a plane came in for a landing. On it was President of the Allied States, Mikhail Revnik. Having the Austurlander top leadership and a ridiculously high ranking Kyivan in one place he felt like fate was some crazy whore toying with him with a taunting smile. The plane taxied to a stop and the workers move quickly to get the stairs into place.

Eirik move his hand to his mouth as spoke into the microphone, "Everyone stay sharp." As the door opened on the plane Lieutenant Mjallby thought to himself, For the love of God and all that is holy please don't let some idiot do anything stupid.

It was unprecedented. Mikhail Revnik had held his post as President of the Allied States for eight years and what was happening today had never happened before. Kyiv had sent and received diplomats yes but never before had an official of his rank left the country on a diplomatic mission. Mikhail was not the Allied States leader but he was the highest official not to don the armed forces uniform and he was a sitting member of the State Defense Committee. It would not surprise him if the Austurlanders had wanted to meet Kyiv's true leader, the First Marshal, but such a thing was not politically possible. Not yet.

The First Marshal had however impressed upon him the importance of this mission by briefing him personally. Such things were not done lightly and Mikhail was under no illusion as to the meetings importance. Building relations with the AGE was the Marshals first priority in foreign policy and this would be the first steps.

He had done his homework. The leaders of Austurland had come out to greet him with full pomp and ceremony. For his part he had adorned himself in his full dress uniform draped with the commendations and regalia of his old military career. Accompanying him was a traditional honour guard, a team of diplomatic and technical staff, the security team and doubtlessly several MID agents placed to keep tabs on him. His staff had been in contact throughout the flight with the embassy staff already on the ground via satcom, he did not want any unexpected surprises.

As the plane touched down the last calls were made to confirm and reconfirm. Everything had to be perfect. From his window he saw the flags, the crowd, the royals and the prime minister. This was his moment. Straightening his hat one last time he stepped out of the plane to meet his hosts.

"Welcome to Dalerna." said Archduke Christian Frederik II, extending his hand. After the two shook hands the royal introduced the man standing next to him. "Mr. President this is my prime Minister, Dr. Nikolay Raev." Now the much older of the three extended his hand to greet Mikhail.

"President Revnik, it is an honor to meet you and to host you in our nation. There is much for us to discuss about the future of Austurland and Kyivan cooperation."

After the greeting the leaders got into the awaiting motorcades. The vehicles took the scenic route to the Archducal Palace where the discussions will held. When they arrived at the palace the Prime Minister and the Kyivans were taken to the front entrance while the royals were taken to a private entrance.

The men were shown into an ornate library. The ducal library contained texts going back to the nations founding on the outset of the crusades. It was here that the talks would be held. Waiting for them was a woman in her late fifties dressed up in a flattering business suit.

"President Revnik, first I would like you to introduce you to Colonel Tomasina Iversen, retired from our special forces. Ms. Iverson is head of our delegation to the AGE for the past 20 years and I asked her to come here so that she can answer any question concerning Austurland and the AGE that you may ask."

Tomasina extended her hand to great the Kyivan diplomat. After the introduction PM Raev took his seat and began, "I would like to give you Mr. President the opportunity to speak first on any issue that is important to the Allied States and to ask any question of us."

“It is a pleasure Colonel.”

Mikhail sat back. Issues of importance? There were so many things. He knew though what the First Marshal wanted most however.

“That is a broad question Minister Raev. But I can think one particular question of great importance to us. Commerce. Since the opening we have come very far for sure but we cannot sustain this progress without even greater foreign investment. The State Defense Committee is unanimous in concluding that sustaining GDP growth in the next decade and beyond is essential is we are to maintain our position relative to the LFS. It would be not be an exaggeration to say the balance of power in **** hinges on it.”

Feeling his point established he took a sip from his coffee before he continued.

“My question to you then is do you believe Austurland and rest of the AGE can help us achieve this goal?”.

He was well aware that the AGE was quite wealthy. The real question was not could they, but would they. That was the question that brought him here.

OOC: **** is because I have no idea what the continent/region is called. Don't enquire to much about where that coffee came from either.

My replies should be a bit a faster now that I know the agenda of the meeting. You kind of caught me off guard there. np though.

"Well Mr. President. Commerce is truly the one thing we all have in common. Money makes the world go round, from Nokanawa to Antioch. And this is one way that Austurland can definably assist with. As for the AGE I'll allow Ms. Iversen to elaborate."

The conversation shifted to the retired colonel. "Well President Revnik, certainly the AGE sees great opportunity in working with the Allied States. The AGE most certainly can help and we are likely to help. Kyiv can negotiate economic treaties with the AGE to allow for greater economic partnership to garner AGE investment in Kyiv as well as give some economic profit and benefits to AGE companies."

She slowly sipped on her coffee. "Also we do have several programs Kyiv may be interested in. The major one is the Partnership for Peace program. It allows nations that are not members of AGE to participate in AGE programs, be it economic and/or military participation. Also the terms are not as strict as it is for AGE members. The AGE states are bound together both economic and militarily. Partnership members are allowed to decide on the degree of integration into these programs. By joining this program Kyiv would have access to several resources."

Prime Minister then spoke up. "At every AGE summit we review nations that apply for the Partnership for Peace program and accept or dismiss the applications. At this month's summit we can put forward Kyiv's admission to the program to begin the cooperation. I would also support establishing a Kyivan mission at the AGE headquarters to foster growing communication and relationships between Kyiv and the Alliance for Greater Europe."

OOC; dont worry about the coffee Id assume an attendant brought it. They are likely trying to treat the Kyivans as kings to help butter them up :D
