Subforum Changes and Intelligence Section

The Sports forum has been renamed to Sports & Events. After the decline of major interest in sports RP, the scope of the category will be expanded to also handle other events such as world fairs, expositions and so on that do not fit into the sphere of politics. There are also considerations to put the Library and World Conflict sections into one united category for RP threads not in the news thread format. The reasoning is that it is often difficult to draw a line between purely pacifist threads and threads involving violence, and a common category would be far more organic while helping us to slim down on unneeded categories. This is however not fully decided yet, but a possibility that is out there.

Finally, we will introduce the Intelligence Agencies forum, which some of you might already have noticed, soon. This category will allow players to conduct secret matters, espionage and counter-espionage through a new system that will be announced in due time. The basic premise is that the threads in this section will only be visible to the individuals that created them as well as the section moderators, and they will be utilized for various things that should stay hidden from the eyes of other governments.

So far on the forum front.

The intelligence agency part is intriguing and I'm interested to see what happens. Will this allow us to wage secret wars against other countries via sabotage and espionage where one person posts their agenda against another, the moderator informs the victim of the occurrence, the victim RP's a response, and the moderator determines success or failure and has the aggressor make a response appropriately? That's just an idea I've had for a while, and I'm probably superimposing my hopes and desires onto this. So, do divulge more information about the concept if you will?

I'd rather keep more detailed information for now so that nobody will be disappointed in the end if some announced features don't work out the way they should - sorry!

Ive always wanted to partake in an espionage RP. There weren't many takers but this method sounds fantastic. Bravo

I believe the changes sound good.

Merging the Library and the World Conflict subforums I feel could reinforce the surprise aspect of warfare IC by making the thread purposes less clear by this.

I also approve of these new changes, and promise that I for one will attempt to become very active in intelligence rps. Heck I've always wanted to do some proper cloak and dagger stuff, but for various reasons this has always fallen through.

I do think having a private order of battle thread to clarify force readiness to threats would allow us to have the standing, verifiable by moderators, to say "I was ready for this, and took measures to prepare against it." This way, we don't openly post in a news thread "top secret: stealth assets and nuclear weapons repositioned to border with nation A". At the same time, if its in our private thread it could be possible for a moderator to act as an interim agent and disseminate some of this secret information by successful espionage from another player.

I've experienced that on other nation roleplay forums. I'm personally excited about that, and look forward to seeing it implemented.
