Aircraft Carrier Wasp Begins Fitting Out Process - Minuteman Military Press

The aircraft carrier CRSS Wasp begins it's fitting out process where it will be receive it's complement of weapons, aircraft and crew before being assigned to a carrier task group. The Continental Military Command Council ordered a rush job on the completion of the carrier last year after construction was resumed in the face of increasing tensions in several global hot spots and as an overall increase in spending on naval warships. The carrier is destined for operations within the Thaumantic and perhaps beyond with regional and DDI partners. The Wasp will join Hornet and Yellowjacket as the Continental Navy's third aircraft carrier. In other military news, the CMCC has been ordered by the President to raise the alert level to Condition Four in response to Justosian threats against Sylvania and DDI allies.

President Breckenridge Places Embargo on Justosia - Baldwin-Whitehall City Magazine

After ejecting a diplomatic delegation to Sylvania from Justosia and closing the Justosian embassy to Sylvania, President Breckenridge has ordered an embargo on Justosia. The Embargo forbids any Sylvanian from and Sylvanian business from doing business with or traveling to Justosia. The Sylvanian embassy in Justosia has been vacated and closed. Sylvanians still in Justosia at the time for the embargo will be returned home at the expense of the Sylvanian government to ensure that all Sylvanians are able to return home safely and without financial hardship.

President Breckenridge has also called upon the allies in the DDI to do the same and denounce the tyrannical Justosian regime once and for all.

"The only way the Justosian will learn is to be isolated from the rest of the world. We must hit them where it hurts, in their pocketbooks. Perhaps by damaging the Justosian economy we may force their people to make demands for real change in their government. Until then the Justosian government will continue to milk their people for all they are worth for the Justosian crown's madman military spending policies. The only reason they have been allowed to come this far is because of the threat of global communism, well we have ignored them for far too long. I call upon the nations of the world to follow our example. May God strike down the Justosian tyrants! Render not unto tyrants!"

The President has also raised the military alert level over possible Justosian retaliation for his calling of the embargo, stating: "They are not to be trusted, their foreign policy has been that of a madman's, it is only a matter of time before they use their increasingly large military against the free nations of the world."

Residents in West Sylvania Protest Fracking. - Twin Echo Post Gazette

Residents in the state of West Sylvania face off against counter protesters in the state capital of Twin Echo who are pro-fracking as both anti and pro fracking groups meet in the capital city to have their say. Residents against fracking are afraid of the ecological effects that the fracking is having on local water supplies and geological stability of the region. Fracking has caused an increase in micro earth quakes the happen a few times every month, sometimes waking up residents in the early morning or sending pets scattering yelping and whining at what seems to be nothing. Pro-fracking groups are arguing for even more lax regulations on natural gas companies. Currently the fracking boom has brought in several thousand jobs to the region in the last few years as young people from across the country come to West Sylvania to join with drilling and exploration teams offering lucrative pay for little in the way of experience requirements.

Nationalist Fervor On the Rise - Charleroi Tribune Review

With the opening salvos of the political battle with Justosia now fired, Sylvanians are seeing a resurgence in nationalist fervor across the country. With the Justosian embassy closed and the Sylvanian diplomatic mission to Justosia ended with the closing of the Sylvanian embassy in Avalon at the order of President Breckenridge, Sylvanians are expressing their distaste of Justosians in several different ways.

In Redfield square in the Cairnwood neighborhood of Charleroi, demonstrators led a rousing demonstration against the Justosian monarchy, allowing angry residents to take turns hanging effigies of the Justosian Empress and her husband. Speakers from the University of Charleroi's Freedom Institute gave speeches about the tyranny of Justosian government, reading letters sent from Justosian citizens made poor by their government's reckless military spending. An excerpt of the letter was given to the Tribune for publication:

"In Justosia I must choose whether my power stays on or my children eat dinner. Everyday is a struggle as a large portion of my paycheck is taken by the government for their military projects. I am a single mother and I struggle everyday, I have had to do things that no mother should have to do to make some extra money under the table where the local taxman cannot count it..."

This was just many of the letters that students from the Freedom Institute read aloud to crowds yesterday.

At one of many of Sylvania's famous rifle and pistol competitions, the usual brown paper silhouettes were replaced by targets featuring high profile Justosians including that of Minister Vargas, the Justosian diplomat that delivered her threats to the Director of Foreign Affairs and prompted the Sylvanian government's response. Minister Vargas maintains that the opposite happened at her meeting with Director Faraday, but the Department of Foreign Affairs will not budge from their telling of the meeting, releasing the transcript of the meeting that shows that the Justosians are lying.

Ellwood County Approves Ethane-Cracker Plant - Ellwood City Daily News

In a controversial move, the Ellwood County authorities have approved for the construction of an Westernesse Petrochemicals Corporation ethane cracker plant to be constructed in Peters Township on the banks of the Turtle Creek and the border of Ambrosian native reservation of Manannán Llŷr. The plant is expected to provide up to one thousand jobs for the area and produce just under 2 billion tonnes of ethylene. The ethylene will be used to create polyethylene which is used in the creations of thousands of different plastic products, from food packaging to automotive parts, in use across the planet.

The construction of the plant will create some seven thousand temporary construction jobs and economists say will be a boon to the region and make Sylvania the largest producer of plastics. The locations was chosen due to its proximity to shale gas production facilities nearby. The announcement of the construction of the plant has ended years of speculation of whether or not the plant would be built in the area. Rumors of the plant construction aroused protest from across the border in the Manannán Llŷr community in Ambrosia. This is because most of the pollution will end up across the border with prevailing winds usually blowing in the direction of the reservation.

Health officials and Sylvanian environmentalist groups have also lodged their protest of the construction of the plant as many of the chemicals that will be released by the plant's operation are linked to cancers and other dangerous medical problems.

"These cracker plants are known to release deadly cancer causing pollutants such as benzene, toluene and formaldehyde. The region will see the effects of these pollutants on the health of their people quite soon after the start up of this plant. County and State officials must put a stop to the construction of this plant for the health and safety of Sylvanians and our friends across the border."

The protests have gone unheard so far as county officials have no plans of stopping construction.

This Easter, Rumors of Westernesse Wide Trade Agreement - Charleroi Tribune Review

The nothing has been confirmed yet, rumor of talks over a trade agreement between Sylvania, Ambrosia and Johnston Island has broken out around the capital despite many offices being closed for Easter Sunday. While nothing has been confirmed, we do know that President Breckenridge was in Ambrosia recently to visit President Hirschfeld's retreat at Camp Haley just over the border across Great White Lake.

Others has said that Breckenridge would never agree to a free trade agreement, saying, it just not in the cards for the Breckenridge administration. Free trade might be hurtful to Sylvania's economy in the long run as businesses look across the border and further south to take their factories and work in a place where labor unions aren't so powerful.... A Preemptive Strike on Justosia Must Happen - M.A.R.A. Policy Journal

The Justosian menace has known few bounds over the last year or so and it is time for that to end. A preemptive strike on Justosia must come from the combined arms of the free nations of the world or we will find ourselves with limited or no access to the Silk Seas and it's approaches to the Long Sea. The world would also find itself a little more stable in these uncertain times without the belligerence of the Justosian foreign policy makers babbling nonsense and making threats at the littlest of slights. These are not the only reasons why the free peoples must take up arms against the Justosian, we must do it for the Justosian people who live under the thumb of their mad empress who is no doubt a puppet of the emperor who formally led the country before abdicating the throne due to an "illness." Should war be taken up against Justosia it must be done swiftly and with the mission of liberating the Justosian people from the yoke of monarchy, it must be done to dismantle the growing Justosian military.... Defense Department Approves Rifle Sale to Furlanie - Nilsson Business Journal

The Coonan-Wikström Arms Corporation has been approved to sell 300,000 rifles and parts to the armed forces of Furlanie. Furlanie, looking to upgrade the arms of it's fighting forces approached the company in early March about the purchase. The Defense Department also commented that it denied the request to purchase fighters from Continental Consolidated after Furlanie signed a status quo treaty with Kadikistan stating:

"The relationship between the communist behemoth and Furlanie must be examined before the government can approve the sales of critical weapons technologies. Firearms are not covered under the critical technologies definition and so therefore we were willing to approve the deal between the Coonan-Wikström Arms Corporation and Furlanie."

The weapons will be delivered in batches of 50,000 over the rest of 2020 and deliveries should be finished by January of next year.

To the attention of the Sylvanian Government

We are happy this deal has been reached, and look forward to receive the first shipment.
The Friulian Government will be open to dialogue in order to improve our mutual trust and cooperation.
As a side note, the Friulian Government hopes that the popular demand for action against the state of Justosia will be governed by Charleroi, while we do not intend to meddle with the Sylvanian foreign policy, we urge the parts involved in this diplomatic dispute to find a reasonable and peaceful solution.
The Friulian economic interests lay on both sides of this disagreement, therefore we offer our mediation if need be.

Sylvania Joins Free Trade Agreement - The Capitol Record

The Continental Congress has approved membership in the Westernesse Free Trade Agreement or WFTA in a landmark move that rivals the decision to join the Democratic Defense Initiative back in the eighties. The trade agreement was made with Ambrosia and Johnston Isles mainly with a provision for trade with the Augustine Islands in the southern silk seas at the insistence of the Ambrosian negotiators while the bill was being debated. President Breckenridge signed the bill approving membership and commented: "This trade agreement will bring a new era of prosperity to not only our people but all the people of Westernesse..."(Cont'd @ )

A Jupiter Aerojet J1011 Tri-jet flying for Pan Westernesse Airlines en-route to Vrijpoort, Nerdernesia struck a flock of Sylvanian geese and ingested four of the birds into the left engine just after takeoff from Charleroi's Sander K. Rygaard International Airport. After attempting to restart the engine the pilot's began emergency procedures to return to the airport. The landing went without incident, however the aircraft suffered extensive damage to the left engine and moderate damage to the left wing. The aircraft had 210 souls on board at the time of the incident, nobody was injured.

Congressman Buckley Reintroduces Immigration Bill - The Capitol Record

Last year following the grizzly gang shooting that left thirty six people dead at the Century IV shopping mall in Tiroe City, the first major mass casualty event in Sylvania in decades, Congressman Anthony Buckley introduced a bill that would heavily restrict the immigration of people of Nethian and non-white Aurarokin identities to the country as well as give funding to enable CRCIS to better prosecute illegal immigrant cases. The bill initially had mass support in the continental congress but after black lash from several sources as well as a scathing letter from the Nethian Revolutionary Association the support died away and the bill quietly died in committee. However with the NRA declared a terrorist organization by many countries and a rise of Nethian gang related crime in Tiroe City, the bill is set to be reintroduced on Monday and potential support for the bill is growing with several congress members once again pledging to support the bill.

Though initially supportive of the bill, the Breckenridge administration suddenly went quiet on the issue and with the executive preoccupied with matters of peace and war, speculation as to whether the president would sign or veto the bill were it to pass has run wild in media circles. The bill does not, interestingly enough, target those of Dawamalian descent. Some speculate that this oversight is the result of congressman Buckley's connection to prominent Azraqi born businessmen who have made their home in central Sylvania's largest city. Critics of congressman Buckley were quick to point this out, however the congressman has denied knowledge of any purposeful oversight nor stated any plans to add Dawamalians to the bill to be restricted.

Touzen Appetite For Tuna Brings Big Bucks to Ankerhode Fisherman - Ankerhode-Demokraten

Ankerhode or Anchorhead as southies call it has seen a huge uptick in fishing revenue last year as Touzen appetite for North Thaumatic Bluefin Tuna increases. With the tuna season starting in June, independent and commercial fisherman will be racing to the sea soon to catch the big one and make thousands to tens of thousands of dollars on a single fish. Over half of tuna caught in Sylvania is expected to be exported to various eastern nations most residing within the Anti-State. Ankerhode is also expecting an uptick in tourism as sportsmen across the country come to partake in fishing charters to experience the thrill of catching a monster tuna.

Kowaliga Bay Residents Terrorized by Rabid Black Bear - The Kowaliga Post

Residents in Kowliga Bay took shelter in homes and stores as a rabid black bear rampaged through main street Kowaliga, damaging cars and property as it chased residents into buildings and even up the trees lining main street. Police and animal control officers were forced to kill the bear to stop its rampage through the town. Veternarians are studying the bear's corpse as part of an investigation to determine how the bear contracted the disease. Rabies cases within the bear population are rare and animal control officers are concerned of other possible cases that could be a danger to the remote town of Kowaliga.

Chancery of the Republic

Whilst we respect Sylvanian sovereignty and right to legislate its own affairs, the Hesperian Republic is deeply concerned about the immigration bill currently being mooted by the Continental Congress. Such bigoted and inflammatory legislation has no place in the legal codes of any modern nation. We most sincerely hope that the Breckenridge administration and civilized opinion both in Congress and in Sylvanian society at large will resist and defeat this backward bill.

Himyari Peoples' Union
Imyari vanhu mubatanidzwa

We are disgusted and fully condemn the racist and corrupt Sylvanian authorities that let monsters like Anthony Buckley spew their hate upon the peoples of Himyar and Auraria, for just being black or brown and not as white as him. While the gang violence is tragic, the Sylvanian authorities, always ready to throw the blame on the people of colour, and other vulnerable groups, prefer to mask the systemic failures of their own institutions in the form of uncontrolled and illegal immigration.

The Himyari People's Union, ex-Nethian Revolutionary Association, will put Sylvania on its black list, should this referendum go forward and the the authorities in Charleroi will fraud the voting process by creating an environment in which only White Engello-Nordic Atheists have are seen as the real, first class citizens of Sylvania, with the rest being painted in the dark colours of parasitism, obscurantism, corruption and misery. Behind all of its strong words and power plays, we see a failed state that tries to grasp for a breath of fresh air, hence the conflict in the Implarian and now this witch hunt of people coming from Himyar or Occidentia.

We cannot but be repulsed by the open faced corruption, especially when Dawamalians, the Azraqi elite which oppresses about 80 million of the total population of Azraq is not targeted by this bill, and we cannot but wonder, what business does Congressman Buckley have in Jugol? What does the totalitarian and imperialistic regime in power in Azraq have to say in the functioning of Sylvania? We urge the other congressmen of Sylvania to downvote this bill, not turn systemic issues of their country into racial ones and if necessary even prove that they are a sovereign nation, not led by the Cabal in Jugol.

FOR FREEDOM, LIBERATION AND INDEPENDENCE!
Signed,
the Collective Presidency of the HPU

THE CHARLEROI TRIBUNE REVIEW

Nedernesia and the DDI.
Opinion by: Harvey Bickle

With recent terror attacks in the Dune Sea, the open invitation to Nedernesia is quickly looking like a big mistake. Unrest in the Dune Sea has been slowly rising over the last months and has finally culminated itself in terrifying and horrible terrorist attacks, meanwhile the Nedernesian government talks of creating green zones and is on the back foot when it comes to responding and preventing terrorism within their protectorate. Meanwhile in Vrijpoort, Ned media has become obsessed with the possibilities of joining the alliance and whether they will be forced to join into a possible war with Justosia despite the treaty not requiring them to do so. Whilst Ned elites fret and worry about what joining the alliance might mean for their business interests and bottom lines, people die in the Dune Sea and not one of them seem to care all that much. If one were to peruse the local Ned papers, one would be hard pressed to find any news of what goes on in Ned overseas territories, but of course there is much talk of what goes on in the alliance and how much that might hurt the pocket books of Ned business interests. Nor do you see much talk within the alliance of how unrest in the Ned protectorate might affect the alliance members should the Neds join.

Nedernesia prides itself on being multicultural and their many business connections seem to show the wisdom in this progressive approach to immigration and international trade. However should the Neds fail to contain the violence in the Dune Sea, there is no doubt, from a security standpoint, that the terrorists will use the progressive values of the Neds to great effect in their terror campaign. Will we see bombings in Vrijpoort? If the Neds were part of the DDI that would require some measure of response and suddenly the alliance might find itself fighting an asymmetric campaign in the Dune Sea on behalf of their newest member. That is why Ned membership at this point would be a mistake. Underneath the smiling grins of Ned businessmen and behind the progressive rhetoric lies the dirty, grimy secret that they really have no real control over their protectorate starts to reveal itself and those chickens will come home to roost soon enough.

The alliance leadership should take a moment and perhaps put Ned membership proposals on the back burner until a real strategy on how to contain terrorism in the Dune Sea comes to light. If not we can only hope Ned reluctance over joining wins out and keeps them from the alliance.

THE CHARLEROI TRIBUNE REVIEW
Ambrosia Joins DDI.

In what many saw as natural addition to the "Alliance" as it has come to be known in Sylvanian circles, the Westernesse States of Ambrosia adds its considerable military to the worlds most powerful military alliance. Already committed to intertwining its economy with Sylvania and fellow westernesse nation Johnston Island with the Westernesse Free Trade Agreement and participating in the operation to contain the Justosian Menace, analysts predicted the addition would come sooner rather than later.

Accession to the Alliance is expected to boost Progressive Party candidate Bobbi-Lynn Suthers further in Ambrosian presidential election polls over her opponent, Bernard Shermarke of the Constitutionalist Party. President Breckenridge, though not forthcoming of who he prefers to take the reigns of Ambrosia from President Robert Hirschfeld; many feel that Breckenridge has tacitly endorsed Bobbi-Lynn Suthers for the role through complementary comments on Suthers military and civilian career.

With the militaries of Alliance nations undergoing a transformative process to integrate for better operational efficiency the Ambrosian government has advocated a "crawl, walk, run" strategy to Ambrosia's entrance into the Alliance. This interlinking or intertwining as it has been called by different analysts is expected to take time as strategies for technology sharing and new Alliance diplomacy are created. BATTLENET integration is expected to be the most difficult process as even the Sylvanian military has struggled with its implementation.

On the front of technology sharing, Clarence Grant, CEO of Jupiter Aerojet and largest donor to the Military Advancement and Research Agency (MARA), a quasi lobbyist group and thinktank, has loudly advocated for joint development on a new breed of fighter aircraft that the DDI will need if it wishes to maintain its command of the skies. Grants was quoted at a MARA dinner function as saying:

"With Ambrosia's entrance into the Alliance, we must now more than ever, begin in earnest, the development of the next generation of fighter technology. This collective of nations represents the largest concentration of industrial ability on the planet. The Alliance must use its world class military concerns for the betterment of their militaries now or lose the edge they have gained. Time spent on separate projects is time wasted."

Sources inside the DDI headquarters have stated that the current invitation to Nedernesia is being rethought with the revelation of terror attacks in the Dune Sea. More information has yet to be obtained on this developing story.

South Silk Sea Crisis Resolves in Peace

With the DDI and Justosia a hair's breadth away from a massive conflict, peace has been won from the jaws of fire and war. The meeting in Jugol has ended in success however the details of how peace was brokered between the opposing nations has yet to be announced. Many in Sylvania are breathing a sigh of relief, though many were ready for the realities of war, conflict was not the preferred choice of many in the Continental Congress and their constituents. The criticism that the president faced from opposing political parties has been silenced as the initial outcomes of the meeting were first announced in the Azraqi press.

The development of peace is a diplomatic coup for the Empire of Azraq who wished to avoid war at all costs, already markets in and markets dependent on the South Silk Sea have rebounded from the downward spiral markets took when it looked like war was inevitable. Despite the peace, blood was still spilled, among celebrations for peace in many Sylvanian cities, a candlelight vigil was held for Ambrosian Lieutenant Erin Spalding, who gave her life in defense of democracy in the face of Justosian militarism.

The Continental Armed Forces (CONARM) has yet to announce a draw down of forces in the area, though the fleets sent to pressure Justosia have begun to depart further into the Silk sea away from Vanguardia and Justosia proper. CONARM has stated that it will announce it's plan for a reduction in forces in the area once the full details of the treaty have been announced.

Congress Mulls Sanctions on Pelasgia - The Charleroi Tribune Review

As the puppets of Kadikistan give recognition to the newly formed government in Crotobaltislavonia congress new sanctions have been put forward by the ODS nations as they pull their investments out of Kadikistan's special economic zone. Trade with the Rurikgrad pact nations was already restricted by congress previously and foreign investment in Kadikistan was a point that the Breckenridge administration was quite critical of from the get go, now the Pelasgians have readily given their recognition of a new Kadikistani puppet state and the Breckenridge administration has asked congress to come up with new sanctions on the long sea nation.

"It's clear the Pelasgians have allowed themselves to become a puppet of Ivar, DDI allies have been very critical of SQT agreements which we have always seen more as alliances than whatever they want them to be viewed as. Sylvania will not tolerate nations that kowtow to Ivar for some cowardly grasp at peace. This round of sanctions will be light, targeting specific Pelasgian officials and businessmen known to deal with the communists, we expect the Pelasgians to respond in their usual thick headed ways and refuse to turn from the dangerous path they are on and we will go from there. I call on Sylvania's allies to do the same." - President Breckenridge

Congress is expected to vote on sanctions later this week, they are expected to pass.

Aurarians and Natalians Spend Big on Sylvanian Weapons - The Capitol Record

The Continental Congress and the Department of Defense has approved huge multi-billion silver dollar sales to both Auraria and Natal. Respectively the nations are spending 3.45 billion and 1.2 billion respectively. The deals include sales of currently restricted fighter planes, the F-21A Longsword and the F-101C Agile Wyvern. Defense sector stocks were up at the announcement of the deal. Coonan-Wikström's share price was down at the announcement of the cancellation of the Furlanie deal. The company stated they would be keeping the initial investment as a cancellation fee.

Foreign Ministry of the Pelasgian Empire

Propontis, 30 June 2020
Unclassified - Public - Normal

To whom it may concern,

The statements of Mr. Breckenridge are saddening and untrue, but unfortunately not out of character. Pelasgia's provisional recognition of the new regime in Banja Luka is not a question of endorsing the regime change. It is a question of recognising reality. The fact of the matter is that diplomatic recognition should reflect objective reality. For all intents and purposes, the previous regime in Banja Luka no longer exists; we can thus not pretend that it does. This is called the realist theory of international relations to which Pelasgia has long ascribed. It appears that, for some peculiar reason, Sylvania takes a prescriptivist approach to diplomacy, formally recognising that the world were as it should be (according to the sensitivities of the ruling Sylvanian elite), not as it is. Of course Pelasgia condemns any illegal regime change; but we cannot pretend that it did not occur.

Regarding the statements of Pelasgia being a "puppet" of Kadikistan, we will only say that we find them laughable. Pelasgia has a much more profound ideological and political divide with Kadikistan than Sylvania. Both Sylvania and Kadikistan are godless secular states, which base their government on mob rule majoritarianism, and on the belief in blind equality of all. Their only difference is in the modalities through which they seek to effect this worldview. Pelasgia is based on Faith, Hierarchy, Tradition, and Monarchy. Communism and Liberalism are two sides of the same coin, essentially reflecting two different factions of the same republican party during the Aurarian Revolution. Pelasgia still ascribes to Divine Right Monarchy, the same ideology which the Aurarian Revolution overturned, as did the Sylvanian and Kadikistani Revolutions.

Claiming that Pelasgia is a Kadikistani satellite state betrays a complete ignorance of history, politics, and philosophy. Pelasgia and Kadikistan have long been the most staunch of enemies, and have repeatedly been on the verge of total war. The Status Quo Treaty arose out of the two Justinian Crises, and was meant to safeguard a fragile peace in the Long Sea region. This it has, for over fifty years. It has done so because Propontis and Ivar have set aside their prescriptive vision of Europe for a descriptive, pragmatic, realistic understanding of the balance of power in their region, and a wish to maintain it. The failure of certain Gallo-Germanian countries to also do so led to the Decade of Wars. We fear that Sylvania and the DDI's current approach will lead to another such decade.

Pelasgia is no admirer of various regimes across the Long Sea. But we are realistic enough to understand that we cannot overturn these regimes without drowning Europe in the blood of innocents, something which we are not willing to do. We hope that Mr. Breckenridge, as a sane man, shares this basic desire for peace, lest the insular isolation of Sylvania due to its geographic location has blinded him to the very real apprehension of war that those of us in less distant regions of the world have to deal with on a daily basis. The fundamental duty of the State is to ensure the safety of its inhabitants, and that is what Pelasgia intends to do.

If Sylvania chooses to go ahead with its sanctions, we shall have no choice but to reciprocate, and to ask our partners to also do so. Pelasgia will not jeopardize the lives of hundreds of Pelasgian nationals residing in CBS by aggravating the new regime, nor will it further imperil the fragile balance of peace in Gallo-Germania through hot-headed declarations of the "illegitimacy" of this or that regime. As long as a State holds control over its territory, it has the legitimate monopoly on the use of force therein. This basic Westphalian conception Sovereignty has been known to most of Europe for almost four centuries. It appears that certain circles in Charleroi have yet to hear of it.
