Great Himyar Jumpers Derby
International Horse Jumping Tournament​

Since 1905 the worlds greatest show jumpers gather in Osijek, Carentania, to celebrate their art and contest for the title of best rider and horse of Europe. The parcours is known as exceptionally long and difficult, but that only serves to draw the elite of European equine sportlers to the Himyar Derby. For the first time in its history, the Great Himyar Jumpers Derby will be televized, allowing the world to take a close look at this exceptional tournament and the noble sport of horse show jumpers.

OOC: pretty straightforward, a tournament in horse show jumping. You may sign up to (but not necessarily, one or two do just as fine) three riders with their horses - please provide names for both. I will generate randomly whether they manage the parcours at all, at what speed and how many faults are made during the ride. Oh, and the derby is mixed-gender, as is usual for these sports.

OOC: I admit I'm somewhat confused by what the scores and times mean. Is there a convenient wiki article or place I can go to uunderstand how this type of Horse Racing/Sport works? I note that someone scoring 0 is listed as being the top jockey, so I have to admit I'm a little confused. I'm also interested to know what earns a disqualification? I dont expect you to write out a full explanation, but the sources you're using would be super helpful.

I will write out a full explanation after all, since I'm not using any specific guides and would have to search for them. My knowledge of this sport is kind of inherited - my sister in particular does showjumping and most of my family are riders.
The Himyar Derby is rule-wise and in its details loosely based on the German Derby held yearly near Hamburg.
The goal of showjumping is to clear a parcours of obstacles as quickly as possible while tipping as few obstacles as possible. Tipping an obstacle earns you minus-points (your score), hence scoring points is bad. Score values higher than time under all circumstances, so that no matter the time, you can't be beaten if you have less points than anyone else. Tipping obstacles can earn you 2 or 4 points per obstacle, depending on the difficulty.
If a horse refuses to jump an obstacle, the rider has to try again. (IIRC, this earns you one point, but including that into the dice-throw system I made up would have complicated matters a lot) A second refusal nets you a disqualification.
I use dices to calculate all this. I'm contemplating adding the possibility to select whether the rider focuses on clearing the parcours as fast as possible or as safely as possible, the next time I'm doing this. Alas, that'd be next year...
