The Golden Jackal I
Port Salima, 24th Nome, Despotate of Nobatia

The small main room of the one bedroom apartment situated along the Apollinaris the Younger Boulevard, along the seafront of the Indala Sea, was crowded and filled with the smell of the lightened cigarettes and and the sweat of the men and women crowded in there, irritated by the hot Himyari temperatures. The small apartment has been in the past decade a safe house of the members of the Revolutionary Socialist Party, since the days of the Nobatian Summer, in which the authorities came in force against the dissident groups of the CPCH, NRA and RSP. Recently, the apartment slowly turned into a hotbed of political activity as it became a link between disgruntled members of the CPCH and the local cell of the RSP.

In the lounge, where the people stood and were discussing, above everyone, a poster with Enôch Epimachides, the ex-Chancellor of Nobatia that led the government in the late 80s; the man that was the target of the assassination attempts by the CPCH and the greatest enemy of socialist movements in the whole of Himyar. Beneath him, on the poster, with big white letters laid a quote made famous by the media of the time: "Capitalist, not communist; Democratic, not socialist; Free but not footloose"; It was a symbol of the defeat of the socialist groups in the late 80s and early 90s and the RSP kept it as an icon to remember the mistakes of the past so as to not repeat them, whereas for the CPCH members that came to meet with the revolutionary socialists, it was seen as a reminder of what happens when Ivar turns it's back on you and what happens to the Marxist-Leninovists that suffer from the signing of the SQT.

As the years were going by after the treaty was signed, more and more members of the Communist Party of Central Himyar felt abandoned by Ivar, they felt it the most in the late 80s and early 90s, when the Nobatian authorities wanted to completely smash the dissident groups, which were described as non-compatible with the democratic constitution.

Today's kerfuffle in the apartment was caused by the arrival of a new group of defectors from the CPCH into the ranks of the RSP. "The issue is that the Communist Party of Central Himyar, never understood the mindset of the Nobatians. All they did was to hope that they can be successful if they copy Kadikistan, but failed to understand that circumstances always change. They change from day to day, let alone decades later on the other side of the world. Nobatia can't have atheism. It is simply against it's identity. The DKKP in Pelasgia too. It is big and successful by Himyari standards, but it will never manage to attract enough people to form critical mass wanting a revolution. That will never happen unless they chill down on secularism and socialist modernity," said a middle age man, known as Comrade Kuriakos, or codenamed the Golden Crocodile. He was the leader of the local cell of the Revolutionary Socialist Party. He was giving a lecture on why the CPCH will fail to attract support in Nobatia. On the other side of the room, Markos Stavrides, a younger member of the RSP, was listening quite cynically. He was part of the generation Comrade Kuriakos called the Adrenaline Group, a pejorative term the more political members of the group was using to describe those who joined mostly for the adrenaline, for the sake of confronting the state and for the chance of getting rich in the process or even for the sake of adventure, a group put in opposition to the ideological purists.

While Kuriakos was explaining the differences between the RSP and the CPCH to the new members and using some quite strong words to condemn Kadikistan for signing the SQT, Markos' train of thought was broken by someone knocking on the door. Three times short, two times long, two short and three long. As the person on the other side knew the code, he was let in. A short, stout woman carrying a luggage came in smiling. Everyone recognised her and the spirits relaxed again. "Welcome back, Christina", said Kuriakos, before he returned to continue the ideological education of his new recruits. The woman took the luggage into the bedroom making a short head gesture to have Markos and a few others follow her.

"Straight from the baguette oven, with regards from our friends in Gallia," she said as she opened the luggage, showing two SMGs, some pistols and even some grenades. "Now it's time to get the funding and then we will start," she continued. "You know the drill. Use ski masks and paint your faces black where the skin shows, I'd rather have them believe that we're the NRA. If necessary, even yell some pro-separatist, pro-Nethian slogans when we will start the funding operation," she said, patting Markos on his back, with a proud smile. "I would say we should wait until the Games pass, as doing it now would just bring extra risks with nothing to win for us," said Markos. The woman turned towards him and frowned. "We need to do it during the games, it will be a clear statement," she said. "Not if we hide saying that we're the NRA. We should start after the government relaxes," Markos responded. She growled a bit and then for a few seconds thought about it. "We should talk with central command too..." she concluded.
