Eratosthenous unexpectedly died earlier today after suffering a catastrophic heart attack in his office. Mr. Eratosthenous was rushed to 371 Saint George's Imperial Military Hospital, but doctors there failed to revive him, and he was pronounced dead at 4:55 p.m. by the presiding physician. An autopsy is set to take place, though doctors attribute the death to exhaustion coupled with factors such as high cholesterol and blood pressure, which have accumulated from years of a stressful and unhealthy lifestyle. Close associates of Mr. Eratosthenous' confirmed that he was particularly pressured in recent weeks, due to the push to enact several core pieces of Constitutionalist legislation. Mr. Eratosthenous is to be buried with full state honours at the I Imperial State Cemetery of Propontis later this week, according to a Government spokesman. His death leaves a major gap in the Pelasgian political scene, as he acted as the de facto head of the Senatorial majority and the de jure leader of the Pelasgian lower house. Constitutionalist circles have recommended Konstantinos Markopoulos, a well-known Nationalist hardliner and reformer, as his successor, though a formal nomination has yet to be submitted.

(Propontis) His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor has invoked the Imperial Veto to disallow the appointment of Senator Konstantinos Markopoulos to the post of Presiding Magistrate of the Legislative Council, the Imperial Senate's lower house. The appointment of Mr. Markopoulos to the equivalent position to a Speaker in foreign parliamentary systems was strongly supported by the dominant Nationalist faction within the governing Constitutionalist coalition, but it was staunchly opposed by the Nationalists' Loyalist partners due to Mr. Markopoulos' staunchly partisan Nationalist stance on several wedge issues between the two factions. His selection by the Legislative Council deeply divided the Constitutionalists, and was passed on votes of the United Opposition, with the DKKP abstaining. All political forces save for the Loyalists have moved to contest the Emperor's ability to invoke the Imperial Veto over an appointment to a Senatorial -not Imperial- office by the Senate itself, and the Senate has filed an application for leave to appeal to have the case heard by the Supreme Court of Judicature of the Pelasgian Empire. As the matter concerns an administrative decision directly ordained by the Throne, as well as a question of division of powers between the different branches of government, the Supreme Court is the court of first instance, according to the application submitted by the Senate's lawyers. Though the dispute is expected to be adjudicated in the coming days, the currently governing Constitutionalist coalition appears all but fractured by this development. The Throne and the Senate are facing off directly for the first time since the National Schism, albeit through the courts instead of by force of arms.

As the Burgundian Intervention continues, the Bureau for Immigration & Assimilation has issued new guidelines that will allow for an expedited process to exist for asylum requests from Burgundian refugees. Bureau Director, Rebecca Elliott, stated that "Gallo-Germania has been the site of constant warfare, uncertainty, and tension. While this war to save the heart and soul of the Burgundian people goes on, the greatest gift we can offer is safe passage and shelter within the Commonwealth until such a time that it is safe to return to Bourgogne." The Bureau declined to comment on how many asylum requests it received or how many it intended to approve.

Clarence Grant, CEO of Jupiter Aerojet has announced a new combined initiative of Sylvanian aerospace concerns for the production of a new heavy lift rocket, rated for human flight, for the express purposes of space exploration. The companies involved along with Jupiter Aerojet are: Continental Consolidated, General Engineering, North Sylvanian Propulsion Laboratory, Lindbergh Aviation Corporation and Hawkins Aerospace, included with these concerns are the University of Charleroi, MARA (Military Advancement and Research Agency), The Baldwin Institute of Technology, Ellwood University and the Polytechnic University of Tiroe City. The initiative called The Committee for Space Flight and Exploration is expected to lobby government for public funds to bolster the new push for manned Sylvanian space flight.

(Port Gonzalo) A man authorities are describing as "an undocumented Burgundian transient with ties to Implaria" was slain in Tauretaine's seaside capital, Port Gonzalo, while attempting to carry out a "terroristic act" late last night, according to Port Gonzalo Metropolitan Police. The Burgundian transient, name as yet unreleased, burst into a dinner club in the city's upscale Bellamare Quarter just after the evening rush had begun, brandishing a handgun and shouting incoherently in a mix of Salic and Engellisc. Witnesses state that the gunman attempted to seize a waitress as a hostage, but was stopped cold when no fewer than eight club-goers produced their own personal firearms and opened fire, with each finding their mark. SFSO Loriana Fletcher delivered confirmation Mr. Hargrove's passing, reportedly falling dead on the street only minutes after leaving a meeting with Matilda Weldaad of the Nedernesian Equity and Prosperity Party. A joint SSB/SFS investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Hargrove's death is underway.
