(Callao) El Espectador has released its 2023 top for the post powerful politicians in the world. The top, which is being done since 1984, is seen as quite prestigious as it takes into account not only the official power of a politician within his de jure mechanism of power, but rather also their popularity, and influence over the world.

For the category of most powerful male politicians, again, like last year a Tarusan takes the lead, with Tsar Ivan I Kiseleff being seen as the most powerful politician in the world, thanks to his supreme authority over such a large swath of Tarusan society. He is followed by Jose Constanza, President of San Jose, whom is recognised by everyone as probably the most popular president in the world, then by his holiness the Pope. The 4th and last on the top is Vasileios Kallergis, the head of the Pelasgian State, who is seen by some as a modernising figure, and by others as a despot.

On the category of female politicians, for the first time, the top is led by Corrientes, with Marissa de Herrera leading the way. She is followed by the Queen of Csengia, Erzsebet Szabina, then by Aelis Pherson, Almskeeper of Nieveland and lastly, Katharina Günther, the first President of the Hanseatic Republics.

(CAITEKURKE ) The Secondary Investable Energy District (SEID) was granted tax free zoning by unanimous Alderikind Legislature this week in support of an effort to find alternatives to diesel fuel motor carriages. Public investiture in Nieveland is focusing on a natural gas engine to power micro and passenger buses in the urban Nievish fleet. Technological and skill limitations are expected to prevent heavy investment from foreign ones in the new SEID zone.

(PIRAMIDA) The evening sky was interrupted by the sight of trails from mobile launchers as a volley of ballistic missiles launched from the Rikord Archipelago targeted unknown targets in the Imperial Capital of Kremlyov. Around a dozen missiles are believed to have been launched by the Konstantinist forces in control of the archipelago, no reports have come in for confirmed impacts in the capital and whether the information will be available or released is unknown. The small volley is believed to have been inadequate by our own reporters given Kremlyovs status as one of the most heavily defended cities, if not the most heavily defended city, in the world from aerial threats.

(Pirané) Border Guards by Lake de la Cocha, on the border between Corrientes and San Jose have intervened after a makeshift boat has capsized as it was coming from San Jose towards Corrientes. Initial reports state that about 50 people have drowned, and 15 have been saved. The boat itself was a improvised by people from Gran Occidentia, which have managed to cross the border into San Jose and then crossed the Departamento del Sol by Sipe Sipe, hoping to continue their trek towards Corrientes. The authorities have launched a call to make known to the world the realities of the Occidentian refugee crisis, in the aftermath of the coup and of the disastrous previous government.

(PALMIRA) El Presidente José David Constanza of San José, following a brief but uncharacteristic silence, has responded to inquiries regarding the growing refugee crisis by expressing his dismay over the growing tragedy, and calling upon local authorities to investigate the unauthorized border incursions from @Gran-Occidentia through San José and into @Corrientes and better coordinate the handling of Gran-Occidentian refugees to prevent further tragedies such as what occurred in Lago de la Cocha.

The lack of infrastructure in the western half of the
Departmento del Sol, due to the thick jungles and rumors of extensive drug cartel activity that prevent local authorities from exercising their full bureaucratic authority, is likely the cause of Josefino silence on the matter up until this point. It is unlikely that local Josefino authorities will be able to adequately respond to El Presidente's call in a timely manner without further intervention from Palmira itself, a step some analysts predict El Presidente must consider in the near future.

(PALMIRA) With reports of further waves of Gran-Occidentian migrants showing up in the three archipelagic Departments along with the Departmento del Sol, El Presidente José David Constanza of San José has appointed Vicepresidente Gabriel Morales as the head of an emergency committee to work together with local authorities, economic ministers, and military leaders to better coordinate Josefino efforts to either turn back, escort through, or accept these migrants and prevent further deterioration of this growing crisis.

Vicepresidente Morales issued a statement accepting El Presidente's appointment, announcing the first step will be to construct proper refugee camps and send military engineers to the western region of Departmento del Sol to ensure those who wish to continue on to Corrientes will be escorted more safely. Following that, in consultation with the Secretaries of Industry, Labor, and other economic ministers, key Josefino sectors of the economy shall be evaluated as to whether they are in need of an injection of more workers in order to give the Gran-Occidentians an opportunity of a better life.

Notably, the Josefino Vicepresidente also flatly dismissed rumors of cartels being actively involved in the creation of this committee, stating that "the only people involved are those who work for the government and therefore the people of San José, whereas criminals and outlaws have no place at the table."

(HAMMABORG) The Hanseatic Republics entered a period of unrestricted submarine warfare against the east Scanians today with reports of two vessels sunk without prior reasoning beyond suspicion of piracy as they flew the Gutnish flag. The Gutnish decried the scenario as high seas terrorism, while the Hanseatics have defined it as commerce protection. Hammaborg has gone as far as to invite other nations to join the unlimited attacks upon Gutnish ships as the Tarusa Gothic Sea Fleet appears to no longer be protecting them.

(Callao) The Paz del Oeste Plan has been received with criticism by the people of Corrientes, with a poll organised by El Espectador showing less than 20% in approval of the large sums included in the plan, and 54% disaproving it, with the rest unsure. The Radical Civic Union has started to falter in their support as they have called out the government for bending over Gran Occidentian requests which fully don't respect Correntine needs for forward security in a unified and unitary Monterrey. Presidenta Marissa de Herrera (MNR) defended the plan, stating that the sum was reduced to 8 billion Quris and this sum will bring an improvement in time, with the costs being much worse without it, while Vice Presidente Julio Moreno (UCR) has stated that the money should not be invested in foreign areas, should Corrientes have no clear win, especially as it is forced to compromise even if it puts forward such a large sum. It is the first great crisis of the grand coalition and it will set the tone of the election campaign to come.

(CAITEKURKE) Challenger 2 participatory cycling team Clover, or Revolutionary Guard Team 1, has admitted to sabotaging supplies of their sister RG2 or RevGuard Trident. Camera footage revealed something more disturbing, however, which was that RG2 or Trident traded bags with the far behind Auskie team which effectively delaying them further. Both RG1 & RG2 are now banned from the competition and have been asked to dismount from the Challenger Series, yet stranger still, the two teams insist they will compete with each other regardless of the rest of the field.

(UUSLOSSA) In the far north of Metsamaa, Hanseatic traders have gone looking in the harsh elements for rare earth minerals. While some finds are occasionally made, the reality of the situation is that a harsh toll is paid by individuals in this lonely northern climate. Germanic visitors have reported seeing an angel that has rescued many in the wilderness at the far northern reaches, and Holy Tiburan Catholic members are now making a pilgrimage to the furtherest northern reach to pray. Similarly, some wealthy Hanseatics are financing and collecting donations in order to further a now far along plan to build the Northern most Catholic Cathedral to celebrate these miracles.

(Callao) The National Correntine Football Federation has stated that it is delighted by the fast responses from the invited nations to the Copa de la Tiburanidad, but it also stated that there might be an issue with the Gran Occidentian team. As per the Ministery of the Interior, Gran Occidentian presence at the cup will be impossible unless the government of Puerto Angeles is recognised by Corrientes, as recognition is necessary for their passports to be validated. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also stated that recognition is strongly tied with the signing of the Paz del Oeste Agreement. As of now, all invited teams but Radilo have responded and agreed to come to Occidentia for the Cup.

(PALMIRA) Coach Xavier Santander of Los Tricolores, in preparation for the Josefino's opening match of la Copa de la Tiburanidad against the Correntine team Los Torrientes, announced his intent to take the team "on a spiritual retreat in order to cleanse themselves of the two extremes that can sabotage a team: arrogance and doubt." The plan, approved by a special Presidential Decree, is to have the team practice in solitude in remote areas within the interior of San José for the next few days, and to withhold the itinerary so as to prevent both the media and the fans from observing practice, with the Josefino secret service ensuring the safety and security of the team in the process.

Despite immediate and passionate public protest to such a radical, unorthodox step, El Presidente released a statement throwing his full support behind the plan, reminding Josefinos that "Señor Santander is one of the greatest fútbol players of our generation, and he has attributed his personal success to the same spiritual isolation prior to critical games. If he feels this is necessary in our upcoming match against Los Torrientes, who are we to doubt his wisdom?"

(Callao) The National Correntine Football Federation has announced that the tickets for the games in Callao between Corrientes (Los Torrientes) and San Jose (Los Tricolores) have been all sold out, with Estadio Centenario waiting nearly 130,000 people to witness the 1st match between the two. The same has been reported by the Josefino Collective for the away match, witch will be played in Palmira. The matches between Remuria and Rheinbund, and Monterrey and Radilo too had all their tickets sold out.

Each team is given a base which will function as its home, where they will be hosted, as they will play two matches each pairing. For local teams of Occidentia, that is the capital of their state, with the exception of Monterrey, where the Embarcadero stadium was destroyed in the war and they will have to play in Puerto Florida. The others are divided as following: Pelasgia - Rio Dorado (San Jose); Ebria - Villa Union (Corrientes); Rheinbund (Renania in this tournament, respecting the Tiburan name - Costa Ron (San Jose); Radilo - Rio Verde (Corrientes); Remuria - Canipolé (Implaria); Caria - Monte Plata (San Jose); Auskighinee (named Oscogenia in this tournament) - Rivadavia (Corrientes);

(Nouvo Porto) The Golden Lions (I Leoni d'oro - Radila's national football team) hope to provide an anxious Republic, now clearly on a war footing, with some much needed distraction and entertainment. Since 2011, the team has been jokingly called "The Lannisters," a Game of Thrones refrence, which is only more appropriate because the show was filmed mostly in Spliti in the Dalmation Islands. Several actors were even hired to do promotional work for the team. It's also a reference to Serie A's lack of a salary cap, meaning teams (the vanity projects for aristocratic families) are known to spend absurd amounts on teams in a mid-sized market. Some teams even operate at a net loss, such as La Città AC (owned by Leopold Casteli, a Jewish Aristocrat largely understood to be the Republic's wealthiest citizen), despite its dominance in Serie A, because, even with an always packed stadium and TV rights, the team doesn't generate eneough revenue to fund its bloated roster.

Edmondo Femia is the head coach of The Golden Lions, he won 5 Coppas d'oro when he was La Città's coach. When we asked him about comments said by his counterpart for Monterrey, he shrugged and just said, "our performance on the field will speak for itself." He added he hoped that he could give his fellow citizens something to be hopeful for during what is a challenging time. Radilo's team will be flying to the event with another, yet undisclosed team to avoid conflict.

(Fehrbellin) With a war potentially looming over Gallo-Germania, the Copa de Tiburanidad provides the necessary distraction. The national football teams of twelve nations will compare their abilities to celebrate their common history as descendants of the Tiburan Empire. This tournament will be the first time that the Rheinian Mannschaft will play in their new colours: White shirt and blue pants as home-kit, and black shirt and white pants as away-kit. With a blink to a famous duo of Weissenfelser dance parties, the outfits are already dubbed "Sensation Black" and "Sensation White".
The first match to be played by the Rheinian team will be the derby against Remuria. The coach of the national team Peter Gref said in an interview that he is "fully convinced that our team will give everything to bring the Copa to the Rheinbund". As permanent partner of the national football team, the Rheinian airline Rhine Eagle will fly our team to Costa Ron in San José, which will function as the home base of the Rheinian Team.

(PALMIRA) A video posted by Coach Xavier Santander of Los Tricolores on Twatter has emerged showcasing some of the highlights of the first day of practice for the national fútbol team, which has included a mix of orthodox and unorthodox methods. For the former, in ad hoc fútbol pitches the team has gone through drills and exercises to, per Coach Santander, "properly train their bodies for the battles to come." For the latter, the team has also started participating in limited ways through volunteering at some refugee camps for Gran-Occidentians through distributing food and supplies as well as autographs.

Coach Santander stressed the importance of the latter in the video, as a reminder to both the team and the fans of San José that "what we are about to embark upon is not just about us, about personal glory and individual triumph, but to provide aid both spiritual and practical for those who are less fortunate in the way we best know how: playing the greatest game that is fútbol."
