DIPLOMATIC COMMUNIQUÉ

RESPECTING

THE FEDERATION’S RECOGNIZATION OF ØSTVEG’S NEUTRALITY

PUBLISHED BY THE

UTENRIKSMINISTER
KONGERIKET ØSTVEG

FROM ULRIKKE THORA GULBRANDSEN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS,

TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE SECERTARY OF STATE FOR THE FEDERATION OF WESTERNESSE,
MY MOST HONORABLE MINISTER DENTON GRAVES,
The Kingdom of Østveg and the Federation of Westernesse have maintained relations since your independence and our recognition of it just eight months later. A great feat considering the distances involved at the time. Our relations have defied the common path of history, and defined how peaceful relationships should progress.

It is the intention of this Government to solidify the commonly accepted norms of Austwegian neutrality with your Government. The oceanic borders that have defined our past will continue to define our future. The relationship between the territory of Isjakaland is of great importance to our continued peace.

The Prime Minister has given me exclusive rights to find what is necessary to be able to achieve such a treaty with the Federation.

Kindly accept, My Honorable Mister Denton Graves, the assurance of our continued ideals for peace among democracies and our continued friendship. I stand committed as your most humble and obedient servant in faithful dialogue between your President and my Prime Minister,

Med vennlig hilsen,

To the honorable Ulrikke Thora Gulbrandsen,

The Federation welcomes this latest approach from our Austwegian friends and partners. As one of the first nations to recognize the independence of old Sylvania your nation holds a small but honored part in the history of our land. Alas, though Sylvania of old has given way to our fair Federation of Westermen the ideals of that old nation still survive within us and the peace that has been maintained between our great nations is a thing we wish to see continued. We stand in awe of your people's continued commitment to the ideals of neutrality, the Austwegian people are an example that all nations must look up to when considering how to conduct themselves on the international stage.

Austweg need not worry about it's western flank or Isjakaland as the Federation has always viewed it as an integral part of your kingdom. Though radicals who inhabit it have, from time to time, come to the Federation Council and asked to consider their island home for membership, we have at every turn rejected the notion as to do so would be a violation of your sovereignty and the friendship between us.

We would ask for nothing in return if the circumstances did not dictate that we do so. As the Federation grows our need for natural resources does as well, while there are many choices we could turn to Austweg continues to be the best choice, and so our request is thus: we ask for a free trade agreement between our nations and to become a preferred customer with preferred pricing for your oil and gas markets. We hope this will not be a burden upon your nation and will in fact make a great profit for your people to enjoy for many years to come. In turn we shall, as we always have done honor your neutrality and your borders. We do not wish to make it sound that if this were to be turned down that we would change our views on Isjakaland, we would not, but we believe it would be in our best interests to make this trade agreement happen in earnest.

Your friend and ally,

Denton Graves

THE SECOND
DIPLOMATIC COMMUNIQUÉ

RESPECTING

THE FEDERATION’S RECOGNIZATION OF ØSTVEG’S NEUTRALITY

PUBLISHED BY THE

UTENRIKSMINISTER
KONGERIKET ØSTVEG

FROM ULRIKKE THORA GULBRANDSEN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS,

TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE SECERTARY OF STATE FOR THE FEDERATION OF WESTERNESSE,
MY MOST HONORABLE MINISTER DENTON GRAVES,
The Kingdom of Østveg believes that your proposition for a free trade agreement in exchange for the recognition of permanent neutrality is most acceptable. His Majesty’s Government wishes to inquire if when you suggest a free trade agreement should there be any stipulations that provide limitations.

Is this agreement 100% reciprocal? It is my hope that any agreement we come to is first and foremost on the basis of equality.

Kindly accept, My Honorable Mister Denton Graves, my continued assurance of our continued ideals for peace among democracies and our continued friendship. I stand committed as your most humble and obedient servant in faithful dialogue between your President and my Prime Minister,

To the honorable Ulrikke Thora Gulbrandsen,

On the topic of limitations, of course there are obviously things that our governments will want to protect when it comes to national industries, however this can be hashed out by a joint work group. Of course there should be equality built into any agreement we come up with and I am confident that our two nations can come to an equitable agreement that will jointly strengthen our economies.
