Atomic Aggression Pushes Greater Xheng to the Brink of War

Supreme Leader Hryhir Petryshyn convened a special meeting of the State Defense Council in Kyiv today to discuss the growing threat of Vangalan nuclear aggression in Greater Xheng. First Marshal Petryshyn, who was conducting guidance inspections of army units on the western border, ordered the meeting convened immediately after being informed of “vital new intelligence on the Vangalan nuclear program”.

Though the Allied States intelligence operations remain highly classified the Truth was able to speak with a highly placed military official who was able to disclose information that is “vital to world security”. According to the official previous foreign intelligence estimates that stated Vangala was only taking the tenuous first steps towards nuclear armament had in fact been duped by communist counter-intelligence. “What is commonly known as Vangalas nuclear program is in reality little more than a deception operation, aimed at convincing the world Vangala is years away from having a sizeable arsenal” the Truth learned “when in reality there is a massive, completely secret program being run by Carentanian specialists which have almost succeeded in establishing full-scale weapons production. We estimate Vangala could have upwards of 100 nuclear warheads produced through this secret program within a year. Equally serious Vangala has been running a simultaneous program to acquire and build long-range ballistic missiles with Kryobaijani assistance.”

When asked what this all means our source was grim: “There can be no doubt. Vangala, with the full backing of Carentania and Kryobaijan, is planning a massive suprise first strike on Keida ans Sinhai with the aim of securing total dominance over Greater Xheng.”

A disturbing thought.

The Allied States has not sat idle though, the Foreign Office has reported that a high level delegation of Party Officials and Military Officers has reportedly been dispatched to Keida to discuss the need for greater Military-Economic-Technical Cooperation between the Allied States of Kyiv and Republic of Keida. As the greatest power in Greater Xheng the Republic is seen as a natural partner in the global struggle against unrelenting Communist aggression.

The assumption that the People's Republic of Vangala is incapable of developing its nuclear energy programme independently is patronising and racist. Carentania and Kryobaijan are not masterminding Vangala's peaceful nuclear programme. Kyivan propagandists are also threatening regional peace and stability with the baseless allegations Vangala is planning nuclear strikes against Keida and Sinhai. Vangala is the victim of repeated foreign aggression and has not instigated any conflict.

Trans-Nineveh in Crisis

While all eyes in Kyiv remain transfixed on the unfolding saga of Communist nuclear imperialism, another struggle is beginning in faraway Himyar, one that may eventually prove to be no less important than the drama in Greater Xheng. Trans-Nineveh, a country which has prospered under the right-thinking leadership and steady hand of General Mahmoud Reza Kahn, has been plunged into violence after violent terrorists unleashed a coup against the General.

Once called the "Last civilized state in Himyar" by no less than Supreme Leader and First Marshal of the Allied States Fedir Kravchenko, Trans-Nineveh has forged an independent path under General Kahn, successfully resisting the destructive inroads of both Godless Communism and Laissez-faire Capitalism which have destroyed or perverted most governments in Himyar. That the General, who enjoys widespread grassroots support at home, could become the target of coup has shockwaves through the civilized world.

Though most details of the recent coup attempt remain murky, the General has not only thwarted his enemies by surviving their attempt on his life but struck back swiftly and decisively with an operation codenamed Overture. Even though the perpetrators remain shrouded in mystery informed speculation has zeroed in on foreign provocateurs as the most likely masterminds of the coup attempt.

Trans-Ninevehs rich natural resources have long been coveted by envious foreigners and it has many potential enemies that would stand to gain enormously should the fiercely independent General be deposed and replaced with a more pliable figurehead. Trans-Ninevehs proximity to the dangerous Carentanian communist oligarchy cannot be ignored, but equally plausible are the nations of the Pasila Accord who have long sought total domination of the global economy under the banner of "Free Markets".

The only thing unambiguously clear at this moment is that the General lives, and with him the hopes and dreams of millions.

Supreme Leader Directs Creation of Impenetrable Frontier

Supreme Leader of the Allied States, First Marshal Hryhir Petryshyn, during a personal inspection of the Serbovian border spoke of the need for a stronger grip on the western frontier. After commending the vigilance and dedication of the Border Troops who form our first line of defense on the frontier he observed simply: "The vast expanse of our western regions cannot be held by conventional means. While the might of the Armed Forces petrifies any would be invaders we are set upon everyday by an invisible army of foreign spies, smugglers, black marketeers and saboteurs who slip unseen across our borderlands to sow discord among the people. If we are to continue on the path towards a peaceful and prosperous nation such aggression cannot go unanswered. We must work to develop new means of border protection and create an impenetrable bulwark across the frontier against foreign aggression".

Having already dismissed conventional methods as inadequate, the First Marshal decreed the key to an invincible frontier lay instead in the application of 21st-Century technology. Speaking before an audience of both the most senior members of the Party and Armed Forces and most junior enlisted men of the Border Troops he unveiled his bold plan: advanced technology developed for the armed forces, including Aerial Reconnaissance Drones, Microwave and Infrared Radar and seismic motion sensors must be deployed en-masse across the length and breadth of the frontier. Together with the dedication and skill of the Border Troops these new technologies will allow the creation of a truly invincible frontier.

The First Marshals bold plan was applauded by all in attendance. Not only would it contribute to the security and prosperity of the people they noted, but the production of such great quantities of 21st Century Technology would help to sustain, revitalize and modernize the national industrial base and secure the Allied States position on the cutting edge of science and technology.

Supreme Leader Issues Boganheim Ultimatum

Supreme Leader of the Allied States, First Marshal Hryhir Petryshyn issued a bold ultimatum to the rogue nation of Boganheim in a televised speech today demanding an immediate cessation of Uranium enrichment. "Boganheim must cease all enrichment of nuclear fuels and commit to a permanent and irreversible dismantlement of their enrichment capabilities under the supervision of Kyivan inspectors within 72 hours. Should Boganheim ignore our demands, I will authorize the use of military force to forcibly dismantle the enrichment facilities."

In a public statement following the Supreme Leaders address Foreign Affairs Minister X* derided the decision by Bogaheim to allow CoN inspectors as inadequate. "The Kyivans are a peaceable peoples, and we labored mightily to reach diplomatic solution to the crisis through the Council of Nations only to be rebuffed by Boganheims rogue government and torpedoed by a cabal of Anti-Kyivan delegates. The ultimatum of the Supreme Leader remains the only option."

Boganheim, an obscure northern nation that recently announced it is developing a nuclear arsenal, has catapulted to the top of Allied States security agenda alongside Vangala's nascent nuclear weapons capability. A rogue in the international system, a nuclear Boganheim could have catastrophic effects on peace and stability in the North, sparking the flames of conflict that could envelope even Kyiv. The Supreme Leaders bold ultimatum represents the last, best hope for peace in Europe.

The Kingdom is perplexed upon hearing the Allied States’ ultimatum. The issue of the Bogan uranium enrichment programme was discussed properly in the Council of Nations – the conclusion of the International Community was that an inspection, which we wholeheartedly accepted, would suffice. And now, several days later, Kyiv threatens Boganhem with total war if Boganhem does not abandon its nuclear energy programme. The reasons pointed out in the Kyivan press are not valid:


- A nuclear energy programme is no threat to international security, unless the country in question is building nuclear weapons, which is not the case.

- As pointed out previously, it would be incoherent if Boganhem started to suddenly adopt a belligerent conduct. I recall we are an isolated country, and are happy this way.

- Boganhem is not a ‘rouge’ within the International Community, it is just an isolated country – we think a ‘rouge’ is an isolated but aggressive country – if the Kyivan government could point out when and where has Boganhem been aggressive and that position would be clearer – Kyiv largely exaggerates the danger of Boganhem, which shows no prior behaviour that could indicate otherwise.

- Where is one of the classical and foremost principles of International Law, the principle of non-interference? Kyiv, by making these threats, is clearly disregarding it, and opening the door for an International Community where States have no possibility to define their own policies. I suppose you believe sovereignty is absolute, indivisible and inalienable. Or not, which seems to be the case.

- Kyiv’s conduct is narrowing the unacceptable, threatening a country with full war with no evidence, and no grounds whatsoever.

We call for the International Community to examine the things I have pointed out and invite the Kyivan government, before Boganhem takes an official position, to clarify all the questions raised.

State Defense Council Affirms Success of Economic Policy

The Supreme Leader definitively laid to rest any doubts over the health of the Allied States economy today when he publicly announced the conclusions of the top-to-bottom economic review. "After consulting all relevant organs of the state, a thorough audit of state finances and a comprehensive survey of private enterprises I have determined without a doubt that Allied States economy remains a global bastion of stability and prosperity. Our program of targeted strategic intervention has succeeded in holding back the tides of economic disruption and I am proud to announce we remain on course towards meeting every one of the economic objectives of the four year plan." the Supreme Leader told the nation during his televised address.

He went on to sharply condemn rumor-mongers and saboteurs who have tried to spread seditious lies about the Bantyr shock. "There are those among us who have taken to spreading deceit and disorder at the behest of foreign paymasters, who fear the ever-growing might of Kyiv. To them I say: You're time is up. I have ordered our security forces to leave no stone unturned in the hunt for those who have forsaken the fatherland."

Atomic Energy Ministry Announces New Cannie Reactor

Minister of Atomic Energy Jon Sharipov has announced today that following an intense round of closed-door negotiations representatives of Catigny and Kyiv have inked a deal that will see the Ministry of Atomic Energy construct Catigny's first nuclear reactor. The deal represents a breakthrough for the Atomic Energy Ministry and while be it's first reactor constructed abroad. There is no word on the specifics of the new reactor or when it is expected to be completed.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry welcomed the news saying: "This new agreement will strengthen the fraternal bonds between Catigny and Kyiv and open the way for greater scientific-technical and economic cooperation. We must credit fully the wisdom of the Supreme Leader who's guidance was instrumental in sweeping aside any opposition to this deal."

The MOAE has also announced it will soon be announcing major construction contracts to Cannie companies to work on the new reactor.

Supreme Leader Smashes "Backstabbing" Engellex

"All Europe stands on the precipice. After the conclusion of his speech he announced to thunderous applause that the Allied States was suspending diplomatic relations Engellex "effective immediately" and that the Engellic embassy in Kyiv had been ordered to leave the country.

The steps the Allied States has taken are in our view highly regrettable but necessary. We recognize Catigny's neutrality in the ongoing conflicts but our security apparatus is concerned that Cannie nationals currently in the country were admitted without any screening for potential ties to Engellex.

The Ministry of the Interior has informed me however that if Catigny's government can cooperate in providing the needed background information on Catigny nationals currently in country it will be possible for us to complete risk assessments in-country and restrict possible deportations to select high-risk individuals. Otherwise we will unfortunately have to proceed with our current plan to deport all Catigny nationals pending readmission under the revised security guidelines. I can personally assure you any and all deportations will be carried out with strict adherence to international standards, and under absolutely no circumstances will Cannie's in the Allied States be harmed or mistreated.

The MOAE's stop-work order is a temporary measure pending a security review. The reactor contains a number of technologies considered sensitive or trade secrets and before work can resume a comprehensive security review of all contractors involved in the project will need to be completed to certify they are not potential enablers for Engellex espionage. Atomic Energy has informed me they are coordinating with the relevant security organs and hope that work can resume ASAP. If potential security risks are uncovered Catigny will be consulted to discuss options for remediation.
