To the attention of the Papal Legate in Propontis.
Your Excellency,
I am writing to you to inform you of the wish of His All-Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Eusebius I of Propontis, to communicate with the Patriarch of the North and Vicar of Tibur in order to bridge the rift which has, for so long, divided the faithful of the Church of Christ along lines which are of a nature more temporal and political than spiritual and doctrinal.
It is no secret that, in the past, grave crimes were completed on both sides of the Long Sea which have deeply poisoned the well of relations between us. But, in the spirit of Christian forgiveness and charity, and with the Holiday of the Birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, approaching, we believe that over half a millennium since the end of the Great Himyari Crusade is time enough for the Faithful in Christ to wish to bridge the gap between them.
If His Holiness in Tibur shares this view, then we would be open to talks and discussions of a formal nature so as to consider practical steps to restore communion between the Faithful who now find themselves divided between the New Tibur and the Old. May the guidance of the Holy Spirit guide the Vicar of Tibur in his deliberations on this matter.
