Occitania
Establishing Nation
The riots in Sant Hugo's ghettos continue, the police have completely retreated from the area after militant communists arrived with gas masks, molotovs and rifles and began inciting any Ritons they could find, to open rebellion against the city council. Most cities in Brecosta are segregated by race, but not in Sant Hugo, and the native Ritons have begun purging any Occitans of the city, the Occitans are doing the same. The Riton community leaders are split, many of them follow Dekuism and are against the riots, even some of the Dekuists speak warmly of the riots however. After a few hours of anarchy in Sant Hugo, the police have retreated to the edges of the ghettos and have begun a siege.
As they retreat however shots are heard in increasing frequency, then grenades. Not just any old smoke grenades, professional military frag grenades, that of a foreign power. Now as the police near the edge of the Southern ghetto of Sant Hugo, the rebels strike forth and penetrate the defenses, running amok and routing the policemen who are promptly shot down. Quickly they gain momentum as they enter the center of the city, the smaller ghetto to the South-East opens up as-well and soon has police barracks encircled and ransacked. Fire-fights begin in the streets of the city and there are bodies everywhere. The rebels focus their efforts on a radio station in the center of the West of the city. Fortunately, the local paramilitary is there to meet them and armored fighting vehicles enter the fray.
A third of the city is lost within a few hours and the countryside around the city is slowly falling as-well. It seems the police are totally outnumbered, there are few volunteers from the citizenry, but many officers defect. However the paramilitary is brutal and efficient and quickly strikes through to the heart of the rebellion in the ghetto, but it was simply not enough, two thirds of the city has fallen within 4 hours. The radio station is captured and broadcasts the following:
"Visca la comuna! Sant Hugo és lliure!"
Following the broadcast, an APC, the only one in the city, is disabled, and bursts into flames. The rest of the paramilitary retreats into the city palace where they smash the windows and prepare a final defense of the city. A couple armored fighting vehicles are captured and join the fray in the countryside. After 8 hours, the entire city has fallen to the rebels and their control surges over the countryside, they massacre anyone who resists and approach neighboring cities where riots and firefights have also begun. After the loss of Sant Hugo and multiple other cities the paramilitary retreats to the military and naval base on the other side of the island, Fòrt Maraisha. The police have either become obsolete or have defected, the matter is now entirely up to the military, at this rate Fòrt Maraisha will soon be the last line of defense on the island of Antibrecosta. Colonial General Pasqual Juvé orders the partial mobilization of the division of Antibrecosta.
The broadcast is also received on the smaller island of Sant Hugo to the North, where fire fights have also broken out. Due to the small rural nature of the island, only a couple small cities are captured. The police and the locals oust the communists from the others.
