The riots in Sant Hugo's ghettos continue, the police have completely retreated from the area after militant communists arrived with gas masks, molotovs and rifles and began inciting any Ritons they could find, to open rebellion against the city council. Most cities in Brecosta are segregated by race, but not in Sant Hugo, and the native Ritons have begun purging any Occitans of the city, the Occitans are doing the same. The Riton community leaders are split, many of them follow Dekuism and are against the riots, even some of the Dekuists speak warmly of the riots however. After a few hours of anarchy in Sant Hugo, the police have retreated to the edges of the ghettos and have begun a siege.

As they retreat however shots are heard in increasing frequency, then grenades. Not just any old smoke grenades, professional military frag grenades, that of a foreign power. Now as the police near the edge of the Southern ghetto of Sant Hugo, the rebels strike forth and penetrate the defenses, running amok and routing the policemen who are promptly shot down. Quickly they gain momentum as they enter the center of the city, the smaller ghetto to the South-East opens up as-well and soon has police barracks encircled and ransacked. Fire-fights begin in the streets of the city and there are bodies everywhere. The rebels focus their efforts on a radio station in the center of the West of the city. Fortunately, the local paramilitary is there to meet them and armored fighting vehicles enter the fray.

A third of the city is lost within a few hours and the countryside around the city is slowly falling as-well. It seems the police are totally outnumbered, there are few volunteers from the citizenry, but many officers defect. However the paramilitary is brutal and efficient and quickly strikes through to the heart of the rebellion in the ghetto, but it was simply not enough, two thirds of the city has fallen within 4 hours. The radio station is captured and broadcasts the following:

"Visca la comuna! Sant Hugo és lliure!"

Following the broadcast, an APC, the only one in the city, is disabled, and bursts into flames. The rest of the paramilitary retreats into the city palace where they smash the windows and prepare a final defense of the city. A couple armored fighting vehicles are captured and join the fray in the countryside. After 8 hours, the entire city has fallen to the rebels and their control surges over the countryside, they massacre anyone who resists and approach neighboring cities where riots and firefights have also begun. After the loss of Sant Hugo and multiple other cities the paramilitary retreats to the military and naval base on the other side of the island, Fòrt Maraisha. The police have either become obsolete or have defected, the matter is now entirely up to the military, at this rate Fòrt Maraisha will soon be the last line of defense on the island of Antibrecosta. Colonial General Pasqual Juvé orders the partial mobilization of the division of Antibrecosta.

The broadcast is also received on the smaller island of Sant Hugo to the North, where fire fights have also broken out. Due to the small rural nature of the island, only a couple small cities are captured. The police and the locals oust the communists from the others.

Immediately on the capture of Sant Hugo, the communists begin setting up a rival government, funds, arms and volunteers flow into Antibrecosta to support the new government. The leader now is Jordà Vilana, a former university student, then a banker, a sergeant, now a military dictator. The new People's Republic of Brecosta begins organizing the military immediately. Their arms consisting of equipment from Kadikistan and Xinhai along with outdated Occitan equipment. In the cities along the way to Fòrt Maraisha, any paramilitary left puts up a final desperate last stand. Some Occitan ships are captured, the rebellion was timed very well, 1 corvette and 2 patrol boats were captured in the battle for Sant Hugo. Another 2 patrol boats defected but still the colonial army maintains 2 submarines, 2 destroyers and multiple corvettes and patrol boats. In Fòrt Maraisha, the OIS Hugo, a destroyer is harbored, along with 2 corvettes, the OIS Anna and OIS Silvia.

With little experience in naval warfare, the communists embark around the island of Antibrecosta and towards the island of Sant Hugo, their goal, with their now superior force, crush the police and the locals of Sant Hugo, and rally the communist support in the area. On Sant Hugo is another naval base, Fòrt Zèfir, which harbors a submarine, the OIS Julià, to capture the OIS Julià with its crew would allow the rebels to easily capture Fòrt Maraisha and sink any ships that get in their way. Fortunately, a minority of the crew is sympathetic to the communist cause, and prevents the OIS Julià from leaving port at the orders of Colonial Amiral Lleó Bachs. The communists arrive and quickly lead a lightning campaign and surround the naval base where the communist corvettes and patrol boats attempt to approach. The artillery fire upon the communist corvette, the shot lands a direct hit on the bridge and shatters the morale of the communists who panic and jump ship. Communist patrol boats retreat out of range, the plan was to sail right into the port flying Occitan flags and take it by storm, but now, seeing the Occitan command already aware of the communist presence on the ships, they will have to reconsider their plan for Fòrt Zèfir.

In order to take Fòrt Zèfir, the communists take soldiers from Antibrecosta on commercial planes to Sant Hugo island to join the assault. They launch a full on assault and light fire to everything, furious and bloodied, the communists board the OIS Julià and kill any anti-communists in the crew. The OIS Julià is seized and now the communists can take Fòrt Maraisha. Back in Antibrecosta, Colonial General Pasqual Juvé has ordered partial mobilization, but unbeknownst to him is that his order has not even been heard, in-fact, even if it were he would have to conscript troops from the main island in order to fill the ranks of the division of Antibrecosta. Therefore, with no direct military resistance to the communist army in Antibrecosta, and Fòrt Maraisha surrounded by communist forces, cut off by a communist controlled submarine, Fòrt Maraisha falls. In the capture of the city, the OIS Anna and Hugo are seized with some damage, but the OIS Silvia is sunk entirely, its wreckage towed to port where the communists will attempt to repair it.

Now with a corvette, a submarine, a destroyer and four patrol boats, the communist navy is organized, they stand a fighting chance against the remaining Occitan navy, a destroyer, a submarine, 6 patrol boats and 3 corvettes. The rest of the Occitan navy has already embarked from the ports on the main island of Brecosta, with Antibrecosta and the island of Sant Hugo under control, the war on the mainland can begin. Pockets of resistance still hold out in Antibrecosta, but those shall soon be crushed. Colonial General Pasqual Juvé orders full mobilization of the divisions of Brecosta and Antibrecosta. Over 24 hours have passed since the initial riots in Sant Hugo, so far the rebellion has been extremely successful and now insurgency begins on the main island itself.

While indeed, the rebellion had gone well, the tide was turning. Already over a thousand men in each division of the Brecosta corp were mobilized and this number was increasing as the clocked ticked by. The People's Republic of Brecosta had had great military success, but their future was extremely uncertain, Antibrecosta came under complete control shortly after the fall of Fòrt Maraisha. Despite the military occupation and the support of the people, the administration was in a complete mess. For the future, the communists wanted to implement socialism, communism and then anarchy. To implement socialism while their government was so illegitimate, they needed to use force, and this they did, soon all noteworthy businesses were under the control of the government. This nailed in that the People's Republic were not playing pretend, and Jordà Vilana's legitimacy rose immensely. This legitimacy wouldn't stand if the communists lost at sea, they had to act fast while the Occitans were divided. Their military was quickly organizing, but again, their government was in shambles, it would take over a week to organize a government that could rival sovereign governments in competency. This led to multiple counter-rebellions, those could easily be crushed, but in the future the People's Republic needed to clamp down on the naysayers ahead of time.

At sea, Enric Carabi was given the title of Grand Admiral, and the utmost power in the navy. This was no coincidence, Enric had served as the captain of both a patrol boat which he organized a defection to the communists and the OIS Julià which he led valiantly and sunk the OIS Silvia when it tried to resist the rest of the fleet. Indeed, he had quite a history in the navy and was popular among sailors. He turned this popularity into polarity, another patrol boat defected to the People's Republic and another corvette surrendered without a fight due to him. They joined the fleet in its quick maneuver to the North of Brecosta, here another corvette, the OIS Maraisha and a submarine, the OIS Castàlia had joined up, fast approaching was a destroyer, the OIS Àïxa and another corvette, the OIS Neulion. While the communists had the lead they would still only arrive a few minutes before the Occitan fleet.

In the meantime, the colonial governor of Brecosta, Agustí Odena received permission from King Julius to enact the final act, the colonial government were allowed to kill communists on sight, no matter if they were armed. Serenierre had accused the Occitans of executing political opponents, but come on, could they really say they hadn't done the same? Could any dictatorship or authoritarian government say they hadn't? With the military mobilizing, communist rebellions died out in one city after another, but they remained frivolent in Santa Castàlia and other large cities.

Finally the Occitans and communists came to blows off the Northern coast of Brecosta, the OIS Hugo quickly landed a blow on the OIS Maraisha, which surrendered immediately, however the OIS Castàlia destroyed the OIS Julià, speaking of Occitan Imperial Ships, the communists were to reclassify them as Brecostan Communist Ships. The BCS Hugo advanced and managed to drive back the OIS Castàlia and faced the OIS Àïxa, which managed to sink the BCS Anna, but was quickly surrounded and wrecked by the communists, it surrendered soon and the OIS Neulion was devastated and also surrendered. The battle was a decisive success and the communists gained naval superiority, but just then. Grand Admiral Enric was struck by God, he suffered a heart attack and died on the deck of the BCS Hugo, truly a miracle, there was no sailor more worthy than him, and he was dead. While the Occitans had no clue of this, the OIS Castàlia landed a decisive blow on the BCS Hugo in the chaos of his death, sending him to his funeral in the ocean depths. The communist ships were in chaos, who would be Grand Admiral now? The captains bickered for control, but the command was totally contradictory and insane. Communists still were ransacking the Occitan destroyer and had ordered the repair of the ships, they were to be taken back to the isle of Sant Hugo for repair. However the charisma of one man gained the better of them.

Elies Mallafré took command of the communist fleet and fled the scene, without towing the Occitan destroyer or allowing the Occitan corvette to catch up, the crews on those ships quickly unsurrendered and were able to get back to the shore of Brecosta for repair, it would take days to repair the damage on the destroyer, but only the bridge of the corvette had been wrecked, it could be fixed up much faster. Once it was done, the Occitans would once again have naval superiority. Elies Mallafré led the fleet to the isle of Sant Hugo for repairs, they couldn't do much after that that wasn't extremely risky though.

In all this time, the two rival airforces wrestled for control of the skies above Santa Castàlia, most of the Occitan airforce was on the main island and a few planes in Antibrecosta were given warning and taken off, thus the communists were outnumbered 29-11. Their airforce was obliterated in a battle off the coast of Santa Castàlia in an ambush and reduced to 6 planes, the Occitans on the other hand were only reduced to 27. The Occitan airforce pursued the communist aircraft all the way to their airstrips and managed to get the communists to surrender 3 planes and destroyed one more plane. The rest managed to escape. However, 3 planes were shot down and a further 2 sent routed back to Santa Castàlia by the communist army. The Occitans still had only 27 planes, the communists however, only 2. In terms of helicopters, the Occitan airforce seized any helicopters that the communists had taken and thus controlled all 5 of the colonial helicopters. All these losses were making the communists weary. However while they had a rough time at sea and had failed completely in the air, they had big plans for the battle on the land.

The city of Neulion became a hotspot for communist activity and quickly assumed loyalty to the People's Republic, soon, over 500 troops arrived in the city, more troops were on the way and more troops were being organized right there. The army was still mobilizing, and could not engage the communists in a battle yet. Thus communist insurgency surged over the main land and many cities were switching sides despite the communist losses at sea and in the air. The port which the OIS Àïxa and the OIS Neulion were stationed at to be repaired, Fòrt Ramon, was threatened. If the communists took the city they could seize the remaining Occitan destroyer and corvette. However, the communist advance was slow now, the military had mobilized over 15,000 men at this point, and were keeping most of the Occitan controlled territory stable. The Occitan airforce made sure the communists suffered heavy losses whenever they tried to launch a professional military attack. Despite all this, control of many cities was quickly being consolidated, and the communist army could officially be recorded at over 5,000 soldiers and quickly rising. Most of the communist army however, was unorganized light infantry. In order to beat the Occitans they needed control of the skies.

At Fòrt Ramon, a brigade of the Division de Brecosta and the communist army came to blows, the communists were suffering what seemed to be a decisive defeat, but defectors from the army allowed the communists to come off as the winner and seized the city, taking around 800 losses and inflicting around 200. Fòrt Ramon came under control of the communists, and with it, the now BCS Àïxa and BCS Neulion which the Occitans attempted to take out of the city to another port but were stopped by the communist navy, who were growing in experience and landed a shocking blow on the OIS Castàlia which managed to recover and landed in a naval base nearby Fòrt Ramon, which would soon come under siege. The victory at Fòrt Ramon brought in tons of new volunteers and brought most of North-Western Brecosta under communist control, the communist army rose to nearly 7,000 due to the surge in support and the defectors from the military. One Occitan plane and a helicopter was destroyed in the battle, bringing their numbers down to 26 and 4.

After the defeat at Fòrt Ramon, the Occitans found themselves in a difficult predicament, but now that the entire Divison of Brecosta had mobilized, they were in a position to start making demands. The 4th Roc Brigade began moving West...

The Battle of Neulion

Earlier in the war, the communist rebellion was supported by major corporations involved in computing, finances and hard labor such as Ehlec ltd and Petierre e Approvisionar. These companies were not shut down once it was discovered by the excellent Occitan intelligence that they were funding the revolution. As the war has progressed, the governor of Brecosta, Agustí Odena has seemingly moved leftwards. Despite initially supporting The Final Solution against the communists, the policy has been cancelled and now partisans are to be disarmed and arrested instead of wiped out. This is simply outrageous. The cancellation of The Final Solution was against the King's God-given orders. Fifteen government officials with police are on their way to Brecosta via air with orders to sack the left-leaning pundits within the colonial government.

To add to this atrocity, Governor Odena has given up too much territory to the communists. There are now several suspects in the colonial military administration of being sympathetic to the communist cause. Among them is the Colonial Chief Admiral, Jasó Broton himself who seems to have completely given up in the face of the communists and thrown away the entire fleet. Occitan intelligence has noted that the admiral of the OIS Castàlia, Jaume Castany would be preferable candidate for the Chief Admiralship in this environment.

In a show of loyalty to the King however, Neulion is under attack by the Occitan military. All 15,000 men of the Sant Hugo Division crush the communist resistance in the first decisive victory on the ground at Fòrt Francés, East of Neulion. However in a last action by the communists, knowing they had no chance, moved the adult population West to Neulion and left the infants to die. The infants were moved East to be cared for.

Battle of Neulion

Decisive victory at Fòrt Francés allowed the Sant Hugo Division to march right into Neulion, the city offered no defense. As the troops entered the city though, they found thousands upon thousands of corpses in the windows and strewn about the streets. It smelled awful and the whole scene was utter hell. Yet there was no resistance so the troops garrisoned the city and began... burying the corpses, instead of advancing Northwards to chase the communists. Back East a small city called Nova Thebes, which in the past had been the site of a cult leader's caravan in the 1920s and the site of the death of Santa Castàlia. Nova Thebes had a population of around 3,000 and was the home of many soldiers as it was near the most fortified place on the main island, in the Jungle composed plateau interior. It stood less than a kilometer from a cliff and a large waterfall. This was where the infants had been sent to be cared for as it was the closest town under Occitan control. On this site was the movement of rebels who had just eliminated the indigenous population of the town and their leader Sergi Creixels was giving a speech. Many were in attendance.

"Clearly the communist scum have shown that they don't give a damn about us Occitans, first they incite aggression towards us, then they kill anyone who actually cares about us and now they leave our children to die. We must take arms and strike back for our nation."

The government planes and its escort aircraft arrive over Brecostan airspace. Occitan military planes arrive at its sides, standard procedure. However after a few minutes, Occitan anti-air vehicles in Neulion fire at the passenger planes as-well as the escorts. Quickly, the Occitan aircraft strike back and manage to eliminate several missiles before one passenger plane carrying 8 of the politicians is destroyed. As the barrage continues, another is completely wiped out along with the rest of the politicians who were to replace others in government. A few hours later Governor Odena gives word via speech and declares his support for an independent democracy with socialist sympathies. The crowd give immense support and to his credit around 800 communist men along the frontier give up their arms. Again Governor Odena objected to The Final Solution and accepted the roughly 800 communist soldiers with open arms. Governor Odena knew he would not let the politicians, who were known to be royally picked politicians with right-wing beliefs, get their way in Brecosta. He also knew that even if he abandoned them at the airport they would still cause a ruckus. So since the Chief General was to be replaced, there was no problem getting his help in taking out his replacement appointee.

However, the Chief General of Air was not openly suspected of treason and the airforce and groundforces came into conflict immediately. Those on the ground were seized by the army and the planes raiding communist forces were either shot down or seized upon landing. This crippled the airforce immensely, 12 planes were either destroyed or seized by the army and all helicopters were seized. The Occitans with only 14 planes left; surrendered to the new Brecostan government. Chief Admiral, Jasó Broton would remain in command of the navy.

Loss of Brecosta

Upon discovery of the soft coup in Occitan Brecosta, the communists immediately sent for help from the neighboring powers.

CLASSIFIED

To the relevant officials of @Kadikistan and @Xinhai

We have discovered that the extremist airforce has been crippled by confusion and a state of chaos. With that in mind, I humbly insist that the People's Republic of Brecosta is supplied with an airforce in order to gain air superiority over the Republic of Brecosta. I would also like to request formal recognition of our independence and entry into the Rurikgrad Pact.

Signed, President Jordà Vilana of the People's Republic of Brecosta

In the People's Republic of Brecosta, the army was nearing 25,000 soldiers but was already horribly bloated and a lack of training plagued the communist army. Due to this, the communist army by all means stood no chance against the Brecostan forces. Yet, the Brecostan forces had not moved in the North due to the Brecostan desire to stabilize before crushing the communists. Finally however an attack on the naval base containing the OIS Castàlia was carried out by the communists and failed. The battle proved though that the communist army was slowly gaining strength as the communists managed to deal more damage than they had done at Fòrt Ramon. Communist losses included 300 men while Brecostan losses 70. While communist ground troops pulled back they kept up the pressure on the base via continued missile fire.

Dissidents in the People's Republic were not being shot as often now, instead being regrouped in camps to carry out labor as slaves for the state and any corporations associated with it.

The betrayal of the Brecostan colonial government led to many commanders of the Occitan army to disobey orders, the largest impact being in the 4th Francés Brigade where the mechanized artillery and the mountain infantry deserted to the interior of Brecosta and with access to military fortifications, declared support for the Occitan state and prepared themselves. This bolstered the rebels in the area who formed a militia of around 200 men and began carrying out hit and run attacks on bases loyal to the Brecostan military. As the interior of Brecosta became a warzone, the troops at Neulion found themselves forced to pull back and put down the revolt, however they were faced with the advance of the communist army. 9,000 Soldiers put pressure on the area of Neulion and split the Brecostan army's attention.
Abundi Gomis, the Chief General of Air was arrested and stripped of his position. The new man for the job was a loyalist to Governor Odena.

With the territorial loss of the entire colony, the Kingdom of Occitania reaches out to the Kingdom of @Justosia .

We request a formal alliance with your royal majesty King Carlos Francisco II. That the newly strengthened grand Justosian army arrives in the colony of Brecosta. The capital fleet of Occitania can arrive in Justosia in some time and provide further vehicles for a naval invasion of the island.

The 2nd squadron of destroyers split up at a safe point and 4 amphibious transports plus one submarine turned South, to Justosia. Where they would receive the Justosian army and navy and in 3 trips prepare an invasion. The rest of the fleet sent a threat to the Brecostan government:

"If Governor Agustí Odena does not step down and the Occitan colonial army return to loyal command within 12 hours, Neulion will be leveled to the ground."

The 2nd squadron closed the distance in the mean-time and as expected the request was denied. However, the intention was not to destroy Neulion and attack the Brecostan army which was composed almost entirely of Occitans. It was to go to St Castàlia and destroy any government buildings and display to the people that the Occitan government was in control. The Brecostan military did not act on the threat and troops were not given new orders. While the transports were busy the 2nd squadron of destroyers arrived within range of the palace and government offices, minimal civilian casualties was necessary. The accurate missiles of the destroyers managed to land a direct hit on the palace and it tore through the building, exploded and the ruins caught fire. Two missiles were destroyed, one in the air over the city, causing mass panic. Another missile landed in commercial areas near the offices with a final missile obliterating the government offices. The 2nd squadron came under constant attack by the Brecostan airforce, which was fought off but the 2nd squadron had to retreat away.

It was a success and the people in Brecosta became very politically divided. The Occitan loyalists gained more support and some more companies in the 4th Francés Brigade joined the resistance. Seeds of dissent were also sown. Governor Odena was not harmed however and managed to escape to a safe area.

Communist forces assaulted Neulion and the largest battle in the war so far took place. At the same time, the communists assaulted the naval base again, which was slowly succeeding. Jaume Castany declared support for the Occitan government and left port to rendezvous with the 2nd squadron of destroyers.

The Occitan Royal Navy transport fleet was more than halfway to the shores. The Justosian strike force escort was ready to get underway having mobilized all night on Royal Order.

Justosia's industrial revolution was more limited in scale due to the foolish isolationism of kings past. As such its Navy Royale was smaller in comparison to the European standard. Regardless, an official ally needed assistance, against the Red Menance no less. Tho this is risky a mission accomplished call sign would flex the now rapidly growing muscle the Holy Kingdom has. Dissuade those still perceived as threats. An empire & alliance to the North....

The deploying forces made their last phone calls to loved ones....

It has been over a century since the Justosian Royal Navy engaged in naval combat. Nerves abounded. To quell this, Commander Franco Carvalho, leader of the force, addressed his sailors.

"Men, defenders of our God, King, country. We are to war now. I order you to steel your resolve. Mistakes are death. Mistakes are Court Martial. Our scout frigate detects no enemy vessels in the vicinity. We shall come to halt."

The JRS Libérateur halted. The Occitan troop transports sailed on accompanied by the 2 Justosian med frigates. The Justosian Strike Force was now composed of 2 guided missile frigates, 1 ballistic missile sub, & 1 surveillance frigate. They assumed a loose defensive formation before beginning the mission....

Commander Carvalho ordered the general frequency brought up:
"This is Commander Franco Carvalho of the Justosian Royal Navy. Of his Majesty's ship Libérateur. I address you communists, separatists. We demand the immediate cessation of your hostilities against the legitimate Occitan government. Throw down your arms, surrender."

The naval base near Fòrt Ramon finally fell to the communists, but the battle continued despite the loss of the base. In the interior the loyalist militia was being driven out of some areas, but the loyalist army maintained a strong position, still, they needed an intervention as they could not be supplied forever. Back West the battle of Neulion once again began and the communists were suffering a defeat as the Brecostan army slowly advanced Northwards. With no navy, the Brecostans could not defend the small island of Neumegadeia off the Western coast of Brecosta. So the island fell easily to the Occitan and Justosian troops who secured the island and began making necessary preparations for a landing on the main island.

Brecostans did take note of this and the Brecostan army's interests were further divided as troops were stationed on the coast to defend. The battle began in the air immediately as Brecostan vehicles began attempting to pummel the island with constant missile fire. Occitan and Justosian troops returned the favor and the battle continued. The response to the Justosian threats were minimal but as the war for independence continued the Brecostan troops became increasingly wary. Some troops deserted and a company joined the loyalist cause. Brecostan commanders on the communist front-line became also increasingly agitated as the communist assault continued.

The no reply was all Commander Carvalho needed. His conscience was clean enough. The salvos began. Target: main communist & separatist infrastructure.

You are promoted to Commander of our Force de ge
nerale. Push our armored columns forward immediately. Move our artillery quickly to slopes, heightened vantage points. Tank Corps A is Expedition Force I. They must smash through enemy lines now. Use overwhelming fire power. 95% probability they'll be unable to challenge. Taking of prisoners is up to commanders on ground. Personally advise against.

This mission must end quickly. The longer, the worse. We are unsure how long public opinion will hold out. Their infrastructure should be crippled. Permission granted to liaise this to allied Occitan commanders once these orders are enacted. Do not fail me.

Encountering little resistance through 2 Communist rebel held towns, Armored Expeditionary Force I was making its way to an enemy stronghold, Intel suggested.

"WHERE THE HELL ARE THE OCCITANS AND WHY AREN'T THEY RELAYING?" An angry tank Commander exclaimed. There were rumors the entire tank fleet had been deployed here. Indeed the palace wanted this over quickly....

The shores were manned by the 4th Abelard Brigade at roughly 5,000 men. In the interior the loyalists were being pushed out of the North but the militia had spread to other areas of Brecosta. However, the army still held their ground on the plateau and focused their efforts on the Abelard brigade. More troops from the 3rd Yvon Brigade came to the aid of the Abelard brigade but the communist attacks in the North were increasing in severity and they couldn't spare much. In total, to defend Brecosta against the Occitan-Justosian troops were around 6,000 men, 12 tanks, 98 mechanized artillery vehicles and 67 mechanized infantry vehicles. Against them were 100 tanks, 100 mechanized artillery and 60 jeeps in two waves within an hour of eachother. In order for the invasion to work, the Justosian troops would have to beat the separatists and then hold a position near the shore for the other troops to join them. Also the loyalists would have to launch an offensive to the West. The loyalists had roughly 5,000 troops, 50 mechanized artillery vehicles and 67 mechanized infantry vehicles.

With the Brecostans on the defensive, there would be little defeat in detail with all the allied troops focused on one point. That point would have to be chosen well however. Most of the beaches were smooth, with some small cliffs. In-land between the shore and the mountains the terrain was composed of a mostly level area full of sparse and dense forests with some clearings where there were plantations, towns or farms. Rivers tended to be shallow. An amphibious landing could be expected in most places and with the Brecostan intel not knowing where the invasion would take place; the troops were spread out. However the artillery would almost entirely be in range. At an effective but safe distance, the Occitan navy targeted mechanized artillery in a minimalist manner as the Brecostan airforce was re-organized and launching attacks against the navy. The loyalist mechanized artillery on such a small island had excellent range and limited the Brecostan airforce's attacks as-well as further targeted Brecostan mechanized artillery. While the amphibious transports were loading and leaving port to launch the invasion, the Brecostans saw the missiles flying into and over their positions into infrastructure.

It seemed the Justosians and Occitans had the advantage. The landing went well, Brecostan troops retreated to regroup and the Justosians were in position to free the loyalists' position and advance against the Brecostan army. The effectiveness of the Brecostan mechanized artillery against the Occitans and Justosians was becoming less and less. Soon the Brecostan army had had it, this defeat was severe and put troops in Neulion in position to be attacked in the rear if things got further out of hand. Finally any conspiracies among the Brecostan soldiers became reality and there were mass-mutinies. Many battalions of the 2nd Micolau Brigade joined the loyalist cause and the non-loyalist leaders could not stop the situation spiraling out of control. Justosian reinforcements were on the way and the Brecostan leadership appeared weak. In a final message to the Brecostan army the resignation of Colonial Chief General Pasqual Juvé was demanded. The Brecostans gave in this time and any loyalties their army had to the new government collapsed. A mass counter-offensive began against the communists and troops in the South raised the Occitan flag along with the white flag. Rapidly the loyalists advanced, to support the troops against the communists, to spread the mutiny and to find Odena and capture him.

Justosian Supreme Commander Carvalho acted immediately upon orders from Avalon. He ordered all forces to focus on Brecosta. The Occitan forces were making their stand there. They had rapidly redeployed. However only 2,000 Justosian troops had made it to the island so far.

The tanks & most of the artillery had been ferried in. Most Justosian troops stayed behind the advancing armored columns as they treaded to their designated locales. The Commanders on the ground ordered the artillery to be quickly moved to the highest vantage points possible. They wanted a good view of the rendezvous points. The Occitan troops needed reinforcements. Their pace could have been faster, but the Commanders were being conservative. They seemed to feel the pulse of their men. Oh how they loved God, King, & country. But it had been a very long time since they saw the whites in an enemy's eyes in foreign forests....

During the mutiny, the commanders of the Brecostan army, even the left-wing ones found themselves going along with the attack on the communists and when the loyalists threatened them they agreed to serve Occitania once more. The attack of the ferocious, professional forces of the Occitan army was unexpected but the Peoples' Republic had received 60 planes from Xinhai along with competent pilots and command. The communists were being pushed back on land but the airforce that was recaptured, of 25 planes and 4 helicopters would be unable to prevent the communists from bombing the Occitan army as they advanced. Despite this, the naval base at Fòrt Ramon was retaken and in some hours the communists had lost the frontier. The communists began preparations to defend small towns further North and to retreat from the main island entirely. Morale was low among the communist troops.

Governor Odena remained incognito, there were rumors he had actually joined the People's Republic. Due to his removal from power however, the communists began bombarding Santa Castàlia from across the strait with a now built up coastal artillery force. Occitan troops rushed to Santa Castàlia to return the fire and the search for Odena was called off for the time being. With the help of the Justosians, the minority of communists in the Occitan army was purged and with the exchange at Santa Castàlia in favor of the Occitans, the allied troops were requested at the Northern frontier. With the Justosian help, the Occitans would continue to outnumber the communist troops even with the losses that were mounting up in their advance.

The 2nd squadron of destroyers did what they could against communist forces on land, but were constantly harassed by the new communist airforce which plagued the skies. Later however, the 2nd squadron was joined by the 1st squadron. To divide the attention of the communist airforce, the squadrons sailed Northwards away from the Occitan troops, keeping their distance but putting pressure on the airforce where-ever they could. 20 More planes were sent to even the situation out.

Finally the Justosian 1st Army advanced to the shore & joined the Occitans. The 1st Armoured Division now hummed forward. Artillery in toe. The Expeditionary Corps swiftly advanced north as they got word the rest of their forces had finally been ferried in miles back.

The tanks surged forward, troops behind. The objective was to quickly unleash hell upon the north to swiftly end this conflict....
