The National Day of the People's Republic of Vitebsk has been celebrated with great pomp and fanfare in the great cities of the nation, with more than 10 million citizens participating in a series of ceremonies celebrating the Proclamation of the Hetmanate, the 1st Republic, replacing the Kingdom of Polesia with the Vitebskian State, 132 years ago, while in parallel, also celebrating the great victory of Ovruch in 1460, which has stopped the Karzaski raids in Slavic lands, paving the way to the Vitebskian hegemony over the northern shores of the Axshaina Sea.

The 10th of September has been the official National Holiday of the People's Republic of Vitebsk since the Gentle Revolution in 1983, when the Corporatist regime was abolished and the Social Republic was replaced by the current People's Republic. Before this, the national holiday was the 23rd of August, which comemorated the 1944 revolution which brought upon the creation of the Social Republic. Even so, there are many corporatist nostalgists which still come together on the 23rd of August at the grave of Hetman Bohdan Datsenko, remembering what they see as a "saner and more stable time", the rosy lenses of nostalgia ignoring the realities of the corporatist dictatorship.

Even so, the majority of the people in Vitebsk are celebrating today the proclamation of the 1st republic, and for many, the 10th of September has become the equivalent of a prolonged weekend, which besides the patriotic duties of today also meant enjoying the early autumn holidays on the shores of the Axshaina Sea, whose warm waters and hot winds coming from Himyar make sunbathing and swimming comfortable up until mid October. More than 300,000 people have been reported to be hosted in hotels in Vitebsk City, Ovruch, Poliske and Zapolye, with the majority enjoying the autumnal discounts in the resorts in the Rybalskyi Peninsula.

The leaders of the People's Republic, President Artur Andrijovych Voloshchuk and Prime Minister Tetyana Valeriyivna Rusnak have led the ceremonies in Vitebsk City, each of them laying a wreath of flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Svobody Park in central Vitebsk, followed by a series of speeches, with both political leaders giving their respects to the heroes of the past and their sacrifices for a free, democratic and sovereign People's Republic of Vitebsk. More than 10,000 people have participated in the early morning this Saturday to this ceremony.

The main even today, as in any National Holiday has been the military parade on Zamkovaya Prospekt in central Vitebsk, with the largest military parade organised to this date, with more than 15,000 soldiers participating, 100 tanks, 200 armoured vehicles, 30 helicopters and 20 airplanes. The People's Army of Vitebsk, known as the Blue Army has marched on the main boulevard of the city, comemorating 132 years since their first parade as a republican army, celebrating the end of the Kingdom of Polesia and the Proclamation of the Hetmanate, the 1st Republic of Vitebsk.

"It is with great pride that we are here on Zamkovaya Prospekt again, celebrating the prowess of the Blue Army, the sacrifice of our ancestors, the greatness of the nation and the future for our children. The National Day means more than just a celebration of a republican revolution more than a century ago, it is a celebration of everything the People's Republic of Vitebsk stands for, especially in the current world. We are here to safeguard the future of our children, live our lives in peace and joy and respect the past generations for the effort they made to bring us to modern day. Currently, Vitebsk stands richer, greater and more independent than ever and is a mature member of the international scene, always ready to stand for peace and ensure the primacy of the interests of its citizens. To all our potential foes, we will say only this: Our forefathers were quick to take up weapons and defend their homeland and we will be too. Never take our aspirations for world peace for weakness, for should the interests of Vitebskian citizens be violated, we will respond in kind," stated President Artur Andrijovych Voloshchuk in his address.

TOURIST SEASON CONTINUES: The start of autumn did not deter tourists along the Axshaina Riviera, as the warm waters of the sea and the hot air currents from Himyar make the holiday season last up until October and in some extreme cases even early november. In total about a million people are on holiday this extended weekend, with 300,000 people on the Axshaina Riviera on the Rybalskyi Peninsula. Vitebsk still waits with its arms open to welcome tourists from Scania, Touzen and Gallo-Germania, where the weather already turned dour to enjoy the autumnal environment in 30 degrees Celsius if not even more.

Representatives of the Mountainous AR meet with government in Vitebsk City
  • Luka Biniashvili welcomed with applauses by the Centralnaja Rada
  • Every year, the head of the MAR is set to give a speech in the Rada and report to the government
  • The Biniashvili administration enjoys a historically high rate of approval
The yearly State of the Autonomous Republic Speech in the Centralnaja Rada has been given today by the head of the Mountainous APR, Luka Biniashvili, who has been the leader of the Imeretian community since 2016, leading the region through a historically high level of economic growth and development, reaching a record breaking 12% back in 2021. Currently, Biniashvili is the most popular politician in the Democratic Republic of Vitebsk, with a rate of approval of around 75%, after 6 years in power. As a witness to his popularity, the Head of the Mountainous Autonomous Republic was received in the halls of the Rada with thunderous applause, something that not even President Valyantsin Kalinouski or Prime Minister Tatsyana Šavel received.

The Mountainous Autonomous Republic, situated in the north-eastern fringes of the Democratic Republic, where Vitebsk meets with the People's Republic of Karzask and the Empire of Tarusa, has long been very loosely tied to the authorities in Vitebsk. An independent principality since the 14th century, the Imeretian policy ended up being a disputed area between the expanding slavs from the west, Vitebskians in the south, Tarusans in the north on one side and the Karzask Khanates on the other side. The area fully fell within the authority of the Kingdom of Polesia (Vitebsk) in the very early 1700s. With the fall of the Kingdom and the creation of the corporatist Social Republic in the 1940s, the Imeretians have lost their autonomy and have been pushed into an oppressive state of forced asimilation. The Gentle Revolution of 1983 has brought great changes, including the return to the previous autonomy and protection against discriminations.

Back in 1983, when the Mountainous Autonomous Republic was declared, the area was the most poverty stricken region in the Democratic Republic of Vitebsk, and while its beginnings were quite slow, it became of the fastest growing regions of the nation, and by 2010 it became a region of net immigration, attracting more and more people as it moved away from the dying mining industry into a modern service economy, based very much on tourism, while also attracting many digital nomads from allover the globe. While being the head of the Republic only since 2016, Luka Biniashvili is seen by many as the architect of the rise of the Mountainous Autonomous Republic was he was the Secretary of the Economy in the 1998 to 2010 administrations, and then Secretary of Education between 2010 to 2016. His presence in the Centralnaja Rada has been gladly appreciated as many cited the ceremony of the State of the Autonomous Republic Speech with the previous relation between the Imeretian Kingdom and the Vitebskian Crown. There has been some criticism regarding the event, as some see it as an modern version of the feudal swearing of the oath of fealty, but at the same time, it is legally seen as the yearly report on the functionality of the Autonomous Republic.

"The improvement of the economy, of the whole Democratic Republic, not only of the Mountainous Autonomous Republic is dependent on the investments in infrastructure, which are set to develop and modernise the said template within which our economy and people function and prosper. It has been my main effort to bring connectivity, be it through broadband internet and mobile phone connection to the people, something that have allowed us to explode as we attracted more and more people in the Republic, and provided a huge impulse towards the evolution of our economy into a modern, tertiary one. [...] Education has also been very important, as our plan always was to never leave behind a student of a pupil, because we represent and must administer all the people, not only the urban elites. That is why a lot of the education budget has been assigned to rural schools and the necessary infrastructure to transport pupils from isolated villages to their schools, because in the end, education must be respected for it represents the main ladder of social mobility. [...] There has been criticism. Yes... we have been thoroughly criticised since the last century even, for what has been called senseless spending. I must admit, it was a bet. It could have backfired, but it didn't. We risked a lot, seeking foreign credits for our development, but we managed to win two or even threefold back in the last nearly 25 years by investing in the region and in the people," stated Luka Biniashvili in his speech to the Centraljana Rada.
