"Rydell returns to Hammersmith in 1869 with a familiarity with 'fiction' or Christianity, and an interest in researching the roots of his ancestry as a Norman French descendant within the progression of Engellex from vassal to triumphant Republic. Relations & Weather Turn Cold for Engell-Westernesse

The climate in Westernesse is especially frightful this winter, which has already brought bombs from the Fatherland, and blizzards from the sky that blanket much of the north. Cantignia's hereditary line has faltered, Sylvania has been under government shutdown and leadership crisis, and Beautancus now feels the hurt of a grid crippling winter storm mere months after a hurricane that wrought the same. Relations between these Engellkin states are now under question by the wider world who see an opportunity to strike discord between Engellkind.

With Sylvanian and Cantigian economies reeling from political uncertainty following what most call their Northern Impotence moment, some in Vesper and Charleroi see a pivot to rekindled relations with Jyskerige-Østveg. But as the First Republic marks Fictional Belief as a Difference to be Avoided between its children, many in Sylvania and Cantignia distrust the Difference of Monarchy manifested in the Two Kingdoms that has only expanded its role as a Monarchical economic power broker in recent years.

Sentiments of unity can be found across the spectrum of economic and religious stations around Cantignia where Engellexic is listed prominently on the census. Cantigians are champing at the bit to re-assert their identity as a unifying force for Engellkind in Westernesse and elsewhere, but the task is titanic. The very real rifts between Westernesse Nations exist both on theological and political levels, manifest in states born from rival companies some centuries before. Westernesse Culture is one of action, and evidence of warm relations can still be found in this Long Dark when looking at the collective response to Nor'Easter Winterstorm Baxter. Military and civilian forces from Cantignia are assisting Sylvania as Sylvania turns to offer assistance to Beautancus.

"In Westernesse we respond to swiftly to crisis," an aid worker said on social media, "the rest of Europe sits and reacts!". Indeed, as the Engell-Westernesse bunker down for the Long Dark of Winter a host of other challenges are blooming around the globe from Himyari Upheaval to the unsolved riddles of world Communism and Post-Delegationism. Cantignia is seeking detente, but will the damage brought by bombs in November and blizzards in December be too great to salvage an alliance centuries in the making?​

Republicans Storm Elections, Head to Vesper for Commissioner Battle

Election Day in Cantignia has ended this evening with the near victory of Edwin Grafton and the Frontier Republican Party in the Covenant Legislature. Overturning 8 Pioneer Party (center right) seats held for decades in the Markland Frontier Territory (region that borders Pohjanmaa) for a total of 13, and dominating the Cantigian Confines Territory (region along Sylvanian west coast) with a decisive 15 seats held or gained. Veronica North, Grafton’s leading challenger from the Winterhearth Mutual Benefit Party held her seat in the capital legislative district and maintained Winterhearth supremacy of the Vesper Island Territory with 16 of 20 possible seats.

Historical allies with the Pioneers, the Republicans rose to power in this election cycle by criticizing Pioneer leadership of the Covenant over the years and labeling their moderate style “ineffective if not treasonous” in the words of Grafton. The Republican further painted his Winterhearth competition as “Sycophants of Socialists and Scanians”, accusations that Ms. North struggled to defend against on a daily basis when answering awkward questions from citizens and press.

With 60 districts in total the Republicans now hold 30, Winterhearth MBP 22, and Pioneers 8. After making so many enemies on the campaign trail, Republicans heading to Vesper next week to nominate Grafton for Commissioner are struggling to find a single legislator to cast their vote towards the firebrand Republican’s cause. When confronted by journalists on this issue before boarding a plane in Rendezvous headed for Vesper, Grafton simply stared into a camera and said: “Winterhearth stole Vesper again with intimidation and bribes, the Pioneers put up with it for years but I won’t. Tomorrow morning some of them will be in handcuffs, and on Monday afternoon I will be presenting my agenda as Commissioner to the Covenant Commission.”

Anonymous campaign personnel from Grafton’s camp claim that they have forwarded evidence of criminal collusion between Ms. North and organized crime syndicates in Vesper, to include a picture of her in the cabaret club ‘Bye-Bye Baldwin’s’, seated with infamous and twice convicted criminal boss Tyler Vaughn. North and Winterhearth legislators deny these allegations as they have perennially each time they are leveled by Pioneers or Republicans. These opponents have also pointed to Winterhearth’s relationships with Worker’s Unions, who have been known to pressure and illegally threaten workers to vote straight ticket Winterhearth or suffer reduced hours or outright expulsion from powerful unions in Vesper.

Covenant Basic Law prescribes that new legislators arrive and swear into office on the first working day following election, which for the atheist Republican majority is Sunday by their interpretation. Winterhearth legislators are also primarily atheist, however most intend to abstain from a Sunday session to stall Grafton’s ascent, meet with mostly Christian Pioneers to ensure opposition, and several cases in the Vesper Territory fight Republican legal requests for ballot re-counts.

CAF Struggles for Relevancy

Combined Armed Forces Admirals, Generals, and Air Commanders have already been dispatched to meet with their counterparts from the First Republic, Beautancus, Natalia, and Sylvania in preparation for the long overdue birth of a military cooperation apparatus. “We might possess the smallest population and military of the Engellexian Order,” Admiral Eric Engellburt told seamen of the Republican Coast Guard, “but the tip of a spear or arrow does not need to be large or heavy; we must demonstrate to our allies that the Combined Armed Forces (CAF) of the West Engell Republic are sharp and on target!”.

Despite statements of loyalty, manifold material and funding issues preclude the CAF from participating in large scale operations with Engellexian allies. At the most basic level, the West Engell battle rifle has remained in service for close to a century. Personally issued equipment to soldiers and seamen still consist of items originally issued in the 1930s to 1950s, though individual soldiers often supplement items by purchasing their own, or units with command connections to wealthy oligarchs have been known to seek sponsorship in exchange for special medals or recognition. This system of individual or sponsored units dates back to the Sylvanian Revolution, where wealthy West Engell founder Wilbur Rydell supplied militia regiments with rifles and rations while encouraging other businessmen to do the same.

The Natalian Defence Force (NADF) together with its higher up institutions, the National Defence Council and the Ministry of Defence of the Federation stand side by side with our West Engell brothers and sisters and through this communique we will to make a call to your republic's lawmakers to understand that while there might seem to be no great threats to your national sovereignty in the near future, everything can change in a matter of days and if one does not have an army strong enough to respond quickly and effectively to those new threats, it will be quickly overwhelmed.

A year ago, East Himyar was one of the most stable continents compared to the growing tensions of Gallo-Germania which gave us the 7 Day War and in a matter of months, the level of violence in Himyar has grown so much that today, while the situation improves, but still, only Natalia and Azraq can be seen as islands of stability in a sea of fire and violence. What kept those two nations from lapsing into the same chaos of Loago is the readiness of their armies and the Natalian forward defence doctrine, which made the NADF see action all over the continent.

For this, we wish to help our West Engell brethren so that they will be ready to defend their homeland and provide a quick response to any arising crisis, especially when the West Engells have been magnanimous enough to help the East Himyari with the growing refugee crisis by relocating some of them to Engellachia. rifles. Compared to the original, the R1 has been modernised by 60s standards and have been produced from 1960 to 1980, when the Vektor R4 has been introduced. The R1 was still used by some Natalian units up until 2005, when the complete upgrade to the R4 has been made. For vehicles, the NADF has a batch of Eland armoured cars and Elephant Mk3 tanks which have been retired from the use of the army and were put in reserve, waiting to be scrapped by 2022. We would be ready to offer them at advantageous prices to the Combined Armed Forces, so that a modernisation could be made with the current, limited capital.

The weapons used by the NADF have been designed and tested to function over long periods of time in extreme environments such as the Sun Plain savanna, the jungles of Walalands or the Sea of Fire Desert. While they have not really seen action in the arctic regions, they have been tested for cold environment use too.

This Office has received word of recent note, concerning matters of disposition and logistics in the Combined Armed Forces of the West Engell Republic. Modern Cussian, and so far as I am aware, Engellexic doctrine, the hardware and other material necessitated by them, have come to support the viability of highly modular weapon chassis and platforms, all tested to the highest standards and most minor degrees of variable tolerances in every climate the Engell boot has trod. This is reflected in the longevity and continued development and variation of the Voss-Pattern Heavy Armored Vehicle Chassis, ranging from the venerable Voss Assault Tank of the 1960s to the only recently fielded Cloudsweeper AAA - all proven platforms in their roles. This rigorous ethic is further, and perhaps even more accurately represented in the DAF "Modular Soldier System," best typified by the Adaptive Service Rifle, and the .26 Hellion designed to compliment it. A single gunshot rang out on Friday evening at the West Engell and Sylvanian border, leaving one dead and a thousand uncertain of their immediate next move. At approximately 2317 DMT the Commander of the Red Oyster Rifle Regiment, a previously recognized West Engell Army Militia, was reportedly shot at point-blank range by a trusted comrade.

Sources within the rapidly dispersing militia camp claim that Commander Robert Cargoe was shot in bed by a lieutenant, Mister Arnold Burr, who allegedly discovered Mister Cargoe performing intimate acts with his wife Mrs. Olive Burr. Surrounded by police already, Vesper's Mounted Constables entered the militia camp to investigate the gunshot and reportedly prevented the retaliatory murder of Lieutenant Burr by responding militiamen.
