Sir;
We are troubled by reports that soldiers from the People's Republic of Xinhai will soon be present in the People's Republic of Calidia. Our government informs us that, till now, Gunnland had extended hands of commerce and friendship eastward towards Calidia and Rurikgrad. Furthermore, the Foreign Office has been a firm friend of Raoul Farrago, especially in the trying days of the attempted Christmas coup. And as you may remember, our royal father Josias long maintained the status quo in northern Gallogermania, and even if it was quite politically impossible in those days to sign agreements with the godless "barbarians," you must know that he fretted far more about ancient Burgundian claims to our southern Marpesian marches. The most Catholics kings of Gunnland are nostalgic for the days of imperial Christendom, until they remember that they barely ruled in those days of old.
We can only regard the presence of Xinhaiese forces in Calidia as an aggressive posture, one that risks inflaming tensions, and spurning our overtures of friendship. I hope you will be able to explain them otherwise to us.
A Gunn shall once again rule openly in the Freehold; this is a brief window of time when wrongs can be made right. I hope we can reach an agreement that will preserve the security of Calidia, the security of Gunnland, the demilitarization of our borders, and the unimpeded traffic of ships through the Straits of Mar and the Sea of Rurik. In return, but only in return, we are prepared to offer aid to the Farrago government in Banja Luka, and overland routes for civilian ground transport to resupply Kadikistani soldiers in Crotobaltislavonia.
