Supplement Y is a temporary, or supplemental, solution until we find our permanent mapmaker. I'll bold this next part so no one gets it misconstrued: When we find a new mapmaker, he'll make his updates, it will be so painless that most of you will not notice that this happened at all.

Supplement Y

To apply for a spot on the map please follow these instructions:
  • Name of Your Country
  • Location
  • Have at least 30 posts and an acceptable display of roleplay activity

Some notes on Supplement Y:

Listen folks, I whipped something up in a few hours. There are going to be some glaring mistakes, and I did not bother to write in capitals because of how temporary this supplement is. Please point out typos or edits in this thread, and I'll throw them in to the mix as soon as I can.

The 90 day IC rule was in effect when I was filling in map spots, so if you find yourself suddenly off the map, this would be the reason. If I am wrong, and you have made an IC post in the last 90 days then please correct me - and you'll be back on in no time at all. I did not do this to sleight anyone, I'm just enforcing the rule, so please come back to activity so we can enjoy your play on the forum.

And to reiterate: Supplement Y is a temporary solution, so if you don't like it just take the pill, it'll all go away after we find a new permanent solution to the Official map series.

Elaborate your opinions in this thread:

All of the colonies need to be penciled in, which I overlooked. This'll be done tomorrow (my time).

Danzig isn't included. I hate you forever. Otherwise, a very clean version which I like.

I've added some nations I left out, and added the colonies I think I passed over.

The whole line thing to connect islands is experimental, so do not get too heated about it, I'll be playing with other ways to express interconnected empires.

There are going to be some glaring mistakes for a few people/players, this was created without a master file from the last map by tracing all borders and filling in all text myself. Please bare with the mistakes and calmly post corrections, because I am certain there will be some. I will likely delete correction requests after they are fixed and a revision is posted, so please do not be worried - I just want to keep this thread clean.

I do not think it is a lake to the west of West Saxony, but rather some funnily named Engellexic itsy-bitsy principality.

And there was no lake to the east of Wiese, either.

I asked Engellex for the enlargement after this map:

Regarding the lake in the west which is supposed to be a principality, we could fix this easily but I can't find a map where it's named/titled. I encourage Nonsuch to explain that so we can fix it for him.

As to the East, yeah I figured it would be a better place for a lake than a landlocked spot that might never be occupied again. If someone did want it as a plot, again, it would be an easy fix to revert back.

Westsachsen was expanded per your request in the last map thread by gobbling up the former Lorraine exclave.

I asked Engellex for the enlargement after this map:

I feel uncomfortable granting an expansion to your plot while you are potentially engaged in another conflict with neighbors. If or when peacetime returns: open a thread that outlines your ideas for the expansion, and ask for approval from your neighbors.

If you did all of that already and I just missed it, link it to me and we'll take a look.

I asked for it before the war started and Engellex said here ( ) that he will let us change our mapspots' size and shape. And like I said, my only neighbor being Tale, he was absent when I requested it and I don't really see him accepting that.

Well, he said he'd consider it - and it seems he either didn't have the time or he didn't approve. I'll re-iterate that expanding a territory during a time of conflict without your neighbor and war partner's approval is a tough sell (even if you applied earlier and the request wasn't filled) unless you have a detailed plan and several other players to endorse your plan. Lay out your plan and get a few people to endorse in another thread is my advice.

Not an urgent inquiry, but since Breotonia has been gone for a while and I have no knowledge of the likelihood of his return, and he certainly made it clear that he wouldn't likely be returning, is there an official ruling on the status of Breotonia? Prop 10, historical relic, to be greened at some point? Again, no urgency, nor any personal preference. Just curious.

He had made an absence post a few weeks before this post in the absence thread:

So it's safe to assume he will not be back immediately, and I truly think it'd be in poor taste to give him the bumparoo at this stage.

Proposition Ten possibilities do arise in this situation so long as they do not irreversibly alter the core message of the nation or its characters, though I'd personally advise leaving it be.

I would like to petition for the spot to my southeast which is contiguous with my territory (only the land-based portion of the spot) be sunk. My reasoning is this:
1. I am too large to go about asking for more pixels, so a territorial expansion is not my first request.
2. The plot itself is highly unlikely to ever be occupied, given its unappealing design and inadequate size.
3. Sinking the plot is less workload for the mapmakers as compared to adjusting borders.
4. I am in the process of designing a terrain map for my country, and find this plot to my southeast to be an inconvenience in my ideal design - I would prefer to have more coastal territory for my southland, which I had envisioned as wealthy, independently minded, and influential.

An alternative idea I had to this proposal was this:
1. Remove the lake between me and the southeastern plot
2. I would then ask to cede the northwestern bulbous territory that looks unnatural that extends to Sikandara to the two unoccupied plots to my north.
3. I would then petition to annex the territory to my southeast.

I really dislike that there are two interior lakes on this continent. The lake entirely within my own borders is nice (though I would have preferred to define the extent of any interior lakes within my country myself; the design of this particular lake is aesthetically pleasing) but the second lake, which I share with an unoccupied nation, only makes the plot to the southeast unattractive, smaller, and for me doesn't make sense geographically. Such a large lake would have to either be contained by extensive mountains or be part of a large system of marshes - there's other ways, but the point is that its dictating geography to the people next to it, they need to justify the lakes existence with hills, rivers, mountains, etc. As the demand for Asian-countries is... well let's just say it's not very high... I don't think that removing this plot would damage the viability of the region and it would provide me with more spots to place coastal populations for my densely populated country.. Anyways, if anyone opposes this idea or thinks it's unnecessary, I won't argue and will just move on as before.

Tyculir added and Miroslavl's capital moved for L.2 - I am uncomfortable with changing the Yujin mapspot while the nation is at war.

Can you add to the map the nations of Loago, Mzuzu and the Merina Republic? Here is the map:

Are all three of these like sub-nations of your one new intellectual entity, secondary to Parhava? I'm not objecting, I just want to be clear as to what I am processing.

I've decided to change Ivernia's capital city name from Bán Dair Cathrach to Alderburgh. Same location, people, etc. etc. Just a name that's less of a mouthful and easier to pronounce. Also I think it's prettier. :p

It's name in Ivernish will be Dún Iolar (Eagle's Fort). But Alderburgh will go on the map and will be used 95% of the time.

Good looking map, I like the small insert. Also thanks for keeping DANZIG on the map!
