MD JOINS PPL/PDSB RANKS IN PARLIAMENT
Ruling bloc forms the Liberal Democratic Alliance in Parliament

With the opposition, the PdJ and the PCB, in chaos and disorder, the MD, Mouvement Democratique, a party which was part of the former PdJ/MD opposition bloc, is a liberal party and has decided to come into the same folds as that of the current ruling bloc, the PPL/PDSB bloc. Upon being admitted into the ruling bloc, the PPL/PDSB/MD bloc renamed their coalition to the Liberal Democratic Alliance (LDA). The LDA stands as the strongest party in the parliament, controlling 60.1% of the seats in the Chambre des Communes, thus allowing the ruling bloc to push through any piece of legislation with minimum involvement of the opposition bloc.

The induction of the MD into the ruling coalition has resulted in increased stability for the Martinique government and increased cohesion in the government's ranks. The stock market, which has been sluggish since the beginning of the Batavie crisis, showed positive signs in light of the strengthening of the coalition. The public also has welcomed the inclusion of the MD in the ruling coalition. With people worried about the regional situation, the war of words between the PCB and PdJ, the creation of the LDA has given the Belmontien political scene some stability.

Prime Minister Shahrazad Martinique, who is in Franken at the moment, issued a statement where she congratulated the MD on being inducted into the ruling coalition and, according to sources within Grosvenor House, talked to the MD chief via webcam. According to the same source, Premier Martinique plans on making the leader of the PDSB and the MD, both, as Deuxième, a historical rank which serves as the deputy to the Prime Minister. Historically, the Deuxième has had all the responsibilities of the Premier but none of the power. The last Deuxième was appointed in 1761.

QUEEN DIANA CALLS ON PARLIAMENTARY LEADERS AT CHATEAU DE CHARBONNE
Hopes to reduce tension between PCB and PdJ, and to restore Parliamentary conduct

Her Majesty, The Queen of Belmont and its four Realms, Diana I has called a massive conference at her official residence the Chateau de Charbonne where senior Parliamentary leaders and members will be present to discuss the hostility amongst the two opposition blocs of the Parliament; the PCB and the PdJ. Her Majesty's office said that the political infighting between the two opposition groups was resulting in the opposition's role in Parliament being undermined by the ruling bloc, which is against the Parliamentary Code of Conduct.

The LDA, the ruling coalition, has lent its full support behind the conference and has said that "Her Majesty's efforts to bring the opposition in line with the PCC is commendable and shows that the monarchy plays an essential role in Belmontien politics even today." The PCB's chairman has issued a statement where he said that his party was interested in resolving the issues between the two opposition blocs at the earliest. The PdJ Central Executive Committee has issued a statement where they said that the summons from Her Majesty was showing them that the current infighting the Opposition benches can not continue any longer than it has.

The Premier's office has issued a statement where they said that the Premier was in favor of resolving the outstanding issues between the two opposition parties and that her office was ready to play a mediatory role, if need be. Deuxième-to-be Elisabeth V. Mazarin, Chairman of the PDSB, has also said that the country would face a constitutional crisis if the opposition benches didn't "get their act straight." The view of Ms. Mazarin was echoed by many analysts and politicians in Paris and across Belmont.

ATTACK ON OLTREMAREN KING BY ALLEGED BELMONTIEN NATIONAL JEOPARDIZES BILATERAL TIES
Attack comes nine days after Queen Diana issued an apology to the Central Kingdom

Today, as Belmontien's were finishing up with their Sunday brunches, BBC reported that Oltremaren news outlets were reporting that the newly installed King had been attacked while giving a speech and a subsequent bomb blast claimed around ten people and injured dozens more. Soon after, media from that country acknowledged that the intelligence agencies of that country had discovered Belmontien documents with the attacker, who remains unnamed, but the authencity of the documents has been questioned by the Foreign Office and by the King of Oltremare, himself, in a statement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs took some time in issuing a statement, stating that they were researching and investigating the matter, as best as they could at the earliest. In the statement, the Under Secretary to the Foreign Minister, Ms. Valois said that Her Majesty had taken personal interest in repairing the ties between Oltremare and Belmont and had tasked the government to form a task force, consisting of members from the three main intelligence agencies. The Queen met all twenty seven members of the proposed task force at the Palace and has discussed what is to be the team's areas of investigation.

The recent turn of events has resulted in the PCB and PdJ, representatives of the Belmontien right-wing, to take intensely hardline positions on the Kingdom of Oltremare, mainly because of claims made by Oltremaren press that Oltremare should declare war on Belmont. They have pushed the Queen to push the defense level higher and to keep the strategic forces on extra alert. The Queen and the LDA government, as we know the LDA represents the Centrist and Liberal elements of Belmontien society, have called for calm and restraint by both countries and the Premier has issued a statement where she said that Belmont would "get to the bottom of the terrorist act."

TASK-FORCE LEAVES FOR OLTREMARE
Ministry of the Interior seeks copies of documents found with attacker

With the Task-Force appointed by the Queen already having left for Oltremare, seeking to meet with the eye-witnesses of the attack and to give Her Majesty's Royal Grant of 1,000 Francs to each of those injured and to reward 5,500 Francs to the families of those killed. The task-force has also been charged with doing the investigative work in Oltremare and to work with the Oltremaren intelligence agencies to find the possible links and to bring all perpetrators to justice. At the same time, the Ministry of the Interior has started investigating possible involvement of Belmont based persons/organizations and the Minister of the Interior has called on the Oltremaren king to send a delegation from their country to aid the Ministry in its investigations.

But before the investigations truly begin, the Minister of the Interior has asked for the Oltremaren government to provide the Belmontien task force with copies of the documents found on the would-be assassin and to show the actual documents to the Belmontien task-force so that they may ascertain that the documents are in fact genuine. The Minister also said that he was hoping for a "complete and definitive dossier from Oltremaren officials" so that he could investigate the matter "fully and thoroughly."

Seeing the tensing of ties between Oltremare and the catholic world, the Premier, who is now in Oikawa, has ordered the Gardes des Ambassades to seal off the Oltremaren and Papal States embassies from the public and to increase the security around them and around other Catholic nation embassies.

Office of the Royal Constable of His Most Serene Majesty

Be advised, His Most Serene Majesty has insisted that the Ufficio di Intelligenza di Oltremaren give its full cooperation to the Belmontien Task-Force in its investigations. They will, however, be under constant and full supervision of the UIO. Any specific requests or demands by this Task-Force will first need to be approved by His Most Serene Majesty before they can be granted. In this case for the documents, His Most Serene Majesty has ordered copies be granted to the Task-Force and the originals be shown. The dossier, however, must be withheld at this time. Requests and accompanying reasons can be made to His Most Serene Majesty on a later date.

His Most Serene Majesty has also authorized the deployment of a combination of diplomatic representatives and UIO agents to Belmont to assist investigations there. We expect the same cooperation we will give to the Belmontien Task-Force.

Sincerely,
Henryk Árpad
Royal Constable of His Most Serene Majesty

Foreign Office

Seeing that the Ministry of the Interior is being denied a complete dossier to investigate the issue at home, the Kingdom of Belmont can only conclude that the Oltremaren government is not wanting for Belmont to investigate the case. Thus showing that claims that the King's attacker is Belmontien are fabricated and are an attempt to damage the international standing of the Kingdom.

And considering that the Royal Constable has signed orders to expel Oltremaren Catholics, an act we consider to be against the human rights and charter of the CoN, we have no choice but to call back our team from Oltremare. Our decision is based on the reason that security for all twenty seven can not be guaranteed and the Office of the Royal Constable is pursuing an anti-Catholic and anti-Belmont agenda.

It seems that the reign of His Most Serene Majesty is being endangered by the hostile actions of his Royal Constable. For as long as hostility to sincerity remains in Oltremare and its high offices, Belmont can not do anything to turn the tide of hatred. It seems that Her Majesty's efforts have ended in failure. The Oltremarens want to continue to wallow in their misery.

Belmont is committed to bringing the issue of deportation of Catholics from Oltremare to the Council of Nations.

Premier opens debate on Belmontien associate membership into the EDF

[img2]albumid=140&pictureid=1407[/img2]
The Parliament of Belmont, seen here, in Paris

Paris | Royaume de Belmont:

With the Liberal Democratic Alliance, formed by the PPL, PDSB & MD - the ruling coalition - now controlling 62% of the seats in Parliament, the LDA can pass anything through Parliament and, with such control over the Parliament, Premier Shahrazad Martinique, in her speech to the Parliament, yesterday, said "Belmont has had a long history of collaborating with nations which now form the EDF... our Francophone brothers, and neighbors, all belong to that alliance, the largest one in the whole world, and I would like this house to discuss the possibility of Belmont joining that alliance as an associate member... much like our friend... Wiese."

The small statement by the Premier has polarized much of Belmont. The centrist and liberal elements of society supporting the move by the Premier while the more right-wing and conservative have expressed their reservations on the issue. The PCB, the centre-right opposition, MPs have made it a point to say that joining the EDF would "compromise Belmontien independence and infringe upon the sovereignty of the state." Claims such as that are called "useless fear-mongering" by the LDA and similar claims in the past have been the reason why Belmont has remained away from the EDF framework.

Deuxième Mazarin, the Premier's deputy and leader of the PDSB, has said that the economic and defense gains for Belmont by joining the EDF are enough reward to "give up a little bit of the independence." The Queen also has echoed similar viewpoints, according to Palace sources, and has said that she had encouraged the Premier to bring up the issue, when the two had last met at the Palace. Prince Nicolas' office has released a statement where he has said that "if anything, Belmont's integration with our age-old allies will increase tenfold."

:!: Belmontien agricultural exports to Himyar rise
A study compiled by the Ministry of Commerce has shown that the agricultural exports to Himyar have increased substantially since the strengthening of ties with Anbat, Cortona, Abruzicstan and Hajr. :!: Foreign Office looking to repair ties with new Batavien government
With a new government at the helm in Batavie, sources inside the FO have indicated that Belmont is looking to repair ties with the northern nation, something which was attempted even with the communist government but those efforts fell flat. The sources have said that the FO is looking to host a "high level diplomat or statesman" in Paris to conduct talks with officials from the FO.

TWIN BOMBING IN CARCASSONNE
Leaves 208 dead, 816 injured, including Languedoc Governor and Provincial Ministers

Carcassonne, the capital of Languedoc, a province along the Belmont-Marquen border, yesterday, was rocked by deadly twin bombings which has caused the city of nearly three million into a lockdown and has driven terror into the hearts of people across the city, and nation. The first bombing, which occurred around 4.40PM (Belmont Standard Time), targeted the Hotel des Florentin and its surrounding establishments. A white van abandoned in the area, as shown by CCTV footage, is being cited as the carrier of the bomb. The second bombing, which occurred around 5.45PM (BST), targeted the Governor House, at the time an emergency meeting of the Provincial Cabinet was being held, and, according to security camera footage, the attack was spearheaded by a pick-up truck.

In the two attacks, two hundred and eight people were killed, including the Provincial Ministers of Finance and the Interior, the highest ranking ministers in the provincial cabinet, and injured over eight hundred people, including the Governor and majority of the cabinet. The attacks also damaged the Governor House and Hotel des Florentins heavily and has shattered glass and damaged building in much of the immediate area of the attacks.

According to the ISE's Director-General, RDX and TNT were used in both bombs. Approximately 600 kg (1,300 lb) of RDX was mixed with TNT (Torpex or H6) and a mixture of mortar and ammunition to increase the explosive capacity. Aluminum powder was also mixed with the material to further enhance this capability. Torpex is about fifty percent more powerful than TNT by weight. The two bombs, upon their explosion, echoed throughout the city. The DG-ISE also said that the whole attack was "planned with military precision" and it was apparent that "immense funding was provided to the attackers to make the two bombs."

The city of Carcassonne, long famous in Belmont and the world, for its historic, castle and walled inner city is a complete stranger to such crimes. The city has long been famous for the lowest crime rates in Belmont and these attacks have shocked and petrified the local populace immensely. With such fear ruling the city, the Central Government has been quick to place emergency in the city and has deployed two regiments of the army and has poured out thousands of Rangers, the Belmontien Paramilitary.

With the Governor and several other high ranking ministers of Languedoc in hospital, The Queen has declared Royal Rule throughout Languedoc, till the Governor is fully recuperated. As of now, it is not known who purpetrated this horrible attack and the DG-ISE had pledged to the people of the city to bring the attackers and their backers to "full justice."
