Convened today was my cabinet on matters of national urgency. The state of the Union is dire, several states are almost in need of a state of emergency. The electoral victory could not have come sooner. To act destructively against the state they were entrusted to lead is outrageous and amendments to the regarding laws will be made to ensure such parties cannot jeopardise this country again. I will also be taking legal advice on how best to deal with the United National party and it’s leadership.

I have ordered a full review of the national budget, and advised the peers of the Council of State to do likewise into the budgetary affairs of the states. Corruption and waste is rampant in several areas and my position was made quite clear on that with the peers. Hurry Fenwick has, of course, been most supportive of my efforts in this regard and he is to begin his review of the tax system and the State Department of Finance. I am presently hesitant to proceed with the tax reforms until I have read the reports on those reviews.

Ada Russell has formed the Department of Publications and Broadcast within the Interior State Department on my instruction. Even though we have to be patient with the reviews we can still progress with the monitoring of publications and broadcasters within the Union. A detailed study is to be underway on the content and tone of material published and broadcasted, if we are to bring an end to social decadence then it is the source of it’s promotion that must be the primary target to begin with. I am also in two minds on whether to host a conference with leading media, it is important that they are aware what is and isn’t acceptable to promote, however it may be prudent to again wait on the conclusion of the financial reviews as to have the new taxation system implemented before objections.

A review on the law enforcement was also asked of Ada Russell. Before I can bring reform to the structure and powers of the law enforcement the state of this public institution must be understood.

The inquiry into the level of corruption within the Union Health Agency has just commenced under Ursula Luckes’ direction. The Bill for the Prevention of Hereditarily Diseased Offspring will enter the Chamber of Representatives next week.

The road to recovery begins.

[[OOC: Nothing fancy or greatly in-depth, just a little insight into what really is going on in the FCU through a working 'diary' if you will of the Lord Chancellor.]]
