Medical Tourism
Border medical tourism is growing exponentially and constantly. More and more people, almost entirely women, are relying on the medical care offered in the principality, especially the right regarding the interruption of pregnancy. "The right to voluntary termination of pregnancy is heavily repressed in neighboring countries, and citizens of those countries are forced to organize trips of hope to our health facilities, in order to access their right, anonymously and free of charge." commented a medical director of a health facility bordering Meridia. The doctor preferred to remain anonymous, justifying his decision as necessary due to the increasingly aggressive smear campaign by Pro Vita groups, both inside and outside the Principality of Cervia.
The Ministry of Health has been pressuring the Ministry of the Interior in recent weeks to ease the visa policy for medical reasons or to completely change the visa policy for short-term stays in the country. Currently, no official notices have been released by the Ministry of the Interior, which only commented through its representative that the situation is being closely monitored.
