Siveri Massanas becomes new Prime Minister as Ebrians pressure for change
  • His Majesty formally recognises Senyor Massanas as Prime Minister
  • The National Action Party promises a more pro-active approach
  • The Pannonian Crisis brought an end to the Úmar Llufriu government
With the ceremony at the Palau de Corts done and the parliament voting for the new Massanas cabinet, his majesty, King Arnau V has also formally recognised Siveri Massanas as the new Prime Minister of the Crown of Ebria, taking the lead from Úmar Llufriu. The Partit d’Acció Nacional (National Action Party) continues to lead the Corts and the government as it did before, but after the recent protests, especially against the the political inaction in the Pannonian Crisis, Úmar Llufriu decided to step down and give way to the vice-chairman of the Party, Siveri Massanas.

The Pannonian Crisis has seen many Ebrians turn from their classical neutral approach towards a more pro-active one, especially in the aid of the Zarans, whom have been one of the main actors of the conflict between Csengia, aided by Tarusa and Serbovia and the separatists. While the Franks from Bourdignie have been largely ignored by the irredentist aspirations of Csengia, the same can't be said about the Zarans whom have been the main target of many military actions. That, together with the generalised quietness coming from the international community and the inneficiency of the European Forum, has made many Ebrians rise in protests, especially after many years of support of Pan-Tiburanism.

While many Ebrians wouldn't go as far as proposing to go to war with Tarusa or Csengia for Eugenia, many have protested against what they saw as a governmental abandoning of the Zarans and Eugenians, Ebria sending no supplies and not receiving any refugees as of yet from the Pannonian conflict. Led by an NGO called the Pan-Tiburan Union, protests have started weeks ago, with the biggest taking place 10 days ago, when about 700,000 people demonstrated in the capital city of Valls, with a total of 3 million in the whole crownlands.

After this mammoth demonstration, Prime Minister Llufriu has resigned from his position as prime minister, which also forced him to concede the position of chairman of the National Action Party, which was then surrendered to his 2nd in command, Siveri Massanas. In those 10 days, Massanas has held a speech in from of the joint three chambers of the Corts, where he invited the press, and broadcast to the entire nation that the era of isolation is set to be over, and that he will promote Pan-Tiburanism and will will more Ebria towards providing aid in solidarity with the Tiburan peoples and the victims of imperialism world wide. The commendation he received from the Pan-Tiburan Union NGO has brought an end to the protests and demonstrations, gradually in the past week.

While the bureaucratic doings in setting up the government had to be done, Massanas moved quickly and appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senyora Ada Valen i Codony to lead the Ebrian delegation to the Forum of Democratic nations in the Remis city of Fonda and is already setting up a decree to send aid to the Republic of Eugenia and the Confederation of Bourdignie, while also setting up another to open up the country to refugees from the Pannonian countries.

Car Bomb targets ex-Prime Minister Úmar Llufriu
  • Bomb explodes under the car of ex-Prime Minister Úmar Llufriu
  • Llufriu hospitalised and is in serious condition with burns over 40% of his body
  • The Political-Social Brigade of the intelligence service has started an investigation
Ex-Prime Miniser Úmar Llufriu has been gravely wounded by a bomb attack in the suburbs of Valls late last night, after a bomb that was placed underneath his car. The explosion of the bomb has not wounded anyone else, nor has damaged anything else, as the suburb of Tres Torres has a very low density, being made mostly of villas with expansive green lawns between them. The bomb was homemade and quite primitive, much of the explosion being done by the car's reservoir that was filled with gas.

The explosion took place late at night, close to 3am, when his excellency, Úmar Llufriu, had turned the keys to start the engine, causing the detonator to go off. The Political-Social Brigade of the International and State Defence Police (PIDE) has started an investigation on whom the assailant might have been and what reasons might be behind it.

While, a political motive might be the cause of the attack, some pundits have stated that it could also be an underground organisation that orchestrated the attack, as Llufriu has been put under accusations in the past months for corruptions and for dealing with the local mafia.

The ex-Prime Minister's family has declined to comment, especially in the current circumstances of the place where the attack happened, as it has been reported that Úmar Llufriu was quite inebriated and was leaving one of his many mistresses, some of them being indicted for receiving unlawful gifts from him, originating from the assets of the state. While high ranking politicians are still guarded even after they leave office, it is exactly because of the nature of this visit that there was a lack of supervision and the assailants had the time to sabotage the ex-PM's car.

"At 3:11 we received a call about an explosion on Via Blanca in the Tres Torres district of the capital city of Valls. The first firetrucks, and ambulances to arrive have reported the Eiffellandian made Borshel Gran Viaggio that was owned by the most excellent Úmar Llufriu, ex-Prime Minister of the Crown of Ebria was on fire, with the aforementioned person still in the car. The operation to save his excellency has been quick and successful, and we managed to get him out of the car, but he has 3rd degree burns on over 40% of his body. The next 48 hours will be critical for him, but he receives the best care entire Europe has to offer at the Hospital Real y General de Nuestra Señora de Gracia here in Valls. The Political Social Brigade has started an investigation. As of yet we will treat this as a terrorist attack, rather than gangsters trying to settle scores with the ex-Prime Minister," stated the Guardia Civil spokesperson.

Too many pupils per teacher:
The Crown of Ebria is again at the very bottom of the list compared to other developed Gallian nations, as the start of the new school year has shown again that there is still a lot more investment needed in Education. With an average of 13.8 students per teacher, Gallia has taken over Germania, which has 14.1, and from this year offers the smallest classes in the world. But in Gallia itself, the differences can be extreme. On one side of the list stands Remion, which has as little 8 pupils per teacher in primary schooling, while at the very end, stands Ebria with 19.

Pope Gregory V arrives in Ebria. A new era begins for the Tiburan Church
  • His Holiness will reside at the Sant Silvestre Monastery
  • A Concordat between the Church and the Republic of Remion is being negotiated
  • A new era begins for the Tiburan Catholic Church
A week long of intense negotiations mediated by the diplomatic corps of the Crown of Ebria has finished in a huge success, as the Republic and Senate of Remion, the Crown of Ebria and the Holy See have come together to a solution for the status of the Holy See and the future of the Tiburan Catholic Church. After lengthy discussions, the Pope and the Holy See have agreed to move from the city of Tibur, namely the St Peter Basilica, to the Sant Silvestre Monastery, the biggest monastic complex in Gallia, where more than 2,500 monks currently live and worship. With this move, the Holy See ends its period of self-imposed imprisonment in the city of Tibur, which has started when Remion became a constitutionally secular republic.

At the news of today's passing of the motorcade carrying his Holiness and the college of Cardinals from Tibur into Ebria, towards the Sant Silvestre Monastery, thousands of Ebrians have come out to welcome his Holiness into the country, many showing up with Echinaceas (Coneflowers), representing a local tradition to greet the pope with flowers in bloom around the time of the year of the visit.

The negotiations and discussions are still in full swing, as the Ebrian diplomatic corps, led by the most excellent Ada Valen i Codony is mediating the conflict between the Republic of Remion and the Church, with the hopes of not only ending the hostilities, but going as far as to sign a Concordat between the two actors, creating a cultural and religious unity and stability between the nations and institutions successors of the Tiburan Empire.

At the Sant Silvestre Monastery, the motorcade was received by a royal, religious and governmental delegation, made out of his royal majesty, king Arnau V, his grace, Vicente, Cardinal de Gonzaga and his excellencies, Prime Minister Siveri Massanas and Minister of External Affairs, Ada Valen.

The Sant Silvestre Monastery has been donated to the Holy See by the Government of Ebria through decree no. 58/2021, but discussions will continue, with the Parliament being necessary to fully approve the establishment of a new State of the Holy See as an enclave within the nation, the size of the monastery lands, which amount to 5 square kilometres. The government is still in negotiations with the Republic of Remion, in regards to its relationship with the Holy Church and is fairly optimistic that a Concordat will very soon be signed, bounding together the nations of Ebria and Remion with the Holy See.

"The people of Ebria, has always been faithful, as the Church is a part of our Tiburan heritage. That is why, today is a historical day for us, as the arrival of his Holiness, Pope Gregory V, not only as a visit, but rather as a permanent move in our country is something that brings joy to us all. We will continue to be standard bearers or the Tiburan heritage, together with the other Tiburan states, such as Remion, Guienny, Alberche and the Holy Frankish Empire, and hope that we will all soon understand and recognise that we have more bringing us together than antagonise us. Hopefully, we will soon see eye to eye and understand that within the Tiburan Family, here in Gallo-Germania, there should be no hostility. We may be arguing some times, but in the end, we are brothers and we must be open to cooperation with one another," stated the most excellent Siveri Massanas, Prime Minister of Ebria.

On behalf of all the Tiburan Catholics in Eiffelland, our best wishes to His Holiness Pope Gregorius V. Saint Silvester's day is the last day of the year, but the move from Tibur to the Sant Silvestre Monastry is a new beginning for our Holy Church. The bishops and priests will commemorate this new beginning in their preaches in this Sunday's mass.

Corts Generals vote in approval of Same Sex Marriage Bill

  • Six Months in debate, the Same Sex Marriage Bill has finally been approved
  • The Ebrian Bill sparked international interest too, with El Presidente being a great supporter
  • Both houses with power of decision approved the bill

The Corts Generals of Ebria have voted in approval of the Same Sex Marriage Bill, which was been put forward in September by Albina Melo i Campos, as a response to the decisions of the Supreme Courts of Pelasgia and Justosia, which have blocked any chance of same sex marriage in the respective countries. After nearly eight months of debates, the Corts have managed to reach a decision and in today's vote, 66% of the Deputies and 58% of the Peers have voted for the adoption of the bill, finally giving a chance to many Ebrian same sex couples to enjoy the same rights as heterosexual couples.

The bill was first introduced as a protest by Albina Melos, who is a member of the House of Deputies from the Partit Cartista, and a very well known activist for the rights of the LGBT people, especially in the Italianate area of Gallo-Germania, at some points going as far as requesting the Holy See to recognize civil unions for same sex couples in the city of Tibur. Her action came as a consequence to the decisions of the Supreme Courts of Pelasgia and Justosia, who back in September decided to block any way of adoption of same sex marriage laws, both stating that in their vision, a family is formed of a wife and husband only.

In the international scandal that followed, Justosia and Pelasgia probably for the first time in the recent decades were in the same camp, defending their positions, while to everyone's surprise, Jose Constanza, the famous El Presidente, from San Jose, came in a visit to Valls and held a speech in the defense of the bill in the Corts Generals, calling for greater acceptance and tolerance of LGBT people.

"With the end of this huge legalistic saga, I can proudly say that Ebria managed to do what it was always destined to be, and that is, be a bastion of social progress. I for one applaud my colleagues as they preferred to leave moralism behing for the sake of the citizens they represent and have shown the world, that after Pelasgia and Justosia turned their back on their citizens, Ebria did not do the same, but rather it embraces all its citizens, in any form and shape. To all the people I know that they suffered from being discriminated, in my eyes, this shows, that the Crown loves them," stated senyora Albina Melos i Campos.

The bill will make it legal for the state to form same-sex marital unions, and for the first time, it will also give rights of adoption to same sex families. The bill will soon go to the king for signing, before it will become law.

Hamrunite terrorist cell dismantled by Guardia Nacional
  • Terrorists planned a series of attacks against the authorities and Churches in Hamrun
  • It is believed they were influenced by religious radicals from Hajr and Al-Magrab
  • National Government states Hamrun is a safe area, despite emerging threats
In a grand operation in San Lawrenz, the Guardia Nacional has cooperated with the Guardia Local and the Guardia d'Assalt to dismantle a nationalist terrorist cell operating in the city. Initial reports have stated that about 17 men were arrested for conspiring against the state and for organizing attacks against the people and crimes against humanity. The cell has been part of the larger Għaqda għall-Ħelsien Nazzjonali tal-Ħamrun (Hamrunite National Liberation Organisation), which has been active since the late 1970s, organising attacks against townhalls, police stations, train stations and ports in Hamrun, but also organizing political assassinations, the most infamous one being the killing of Prime Minister Pietro Manzi in 1999. Pietro Manzi was the Radilan born PM of Ebria from 1992 to his death seven years later. He was one of the most popular government leaders of the country. The most recent HNLO attack was the failed attempt on the life of Umar Llufriu, the ex-PM, 8 months ago. After the initial investigation and arrests, it was believed that the HNLO has been decapitated last year, but it seems that certain cadres of the organisation continue to work.

The island of Hamrun has been originally inhabited by a local megalithic civilisation before being integrated in the Tiburan Empire, and then conquered by the Uroduah Califate in the middle ages. During the Crusades, the Ebrian knights have managed to end the menace of Muslim Uroduah piracy, conquering the island and limiting Islamic and Uroduah polities to Himyar. Since then, Hamrun has enjoyed a multireligious and multiculutral, tolerant life, where Ebriotes, local Tiburan and Uroduah Hamrunites, and Italiotes live together in the Kingdom of Hamrun, a polity part of the Crown of Ebria.

While there have been spikes of ultranationalism, separatism and even religious intolerance, the region has been peaceful until the formation of the HNLO, which has called for the creation of an independent republic of Hamrun, free of the Ebrian Crown and based on the ethno-nationalist view that Italiotes, Nuorese and Ebrians are colonizing their island, and it should remain free of such influences.

While their actions have alienated many Hamrunites too, the HNLO seems to have shifted in its scope, from an ultranationalist group mostly ignoring religion, to a mostly clerically radical islamic group. The PIDE (Policia Internacional per a la Defensa de l'Estat) has announced that there have been many connections between the HNLO and the groups fighting in Hajr and Al-Marghab. This would mean that the Mandate Disaster might reach the Crown of Ebria too, as the two Uroduah mandates of Hajr and Al-Marghab have become a semi-anarchic battleground between the authorities and nationalist Uroduah groups which are using the Islamic religion as a means to legitimate their fight.

The recent arrests in San Lawrenz are believed to represent a strong blow for the cells working in the city and that for a while it might discourage any form of violence which the terrorist group was planning. The ones arrested will be initially investigated by the Hamrunite police, but as they are part of the greater trial between the HNLO and the Ebrian state, they will be sent to Valls.

"The arrest is important as it's the 2nd one in 8 months as the terrorists seem yet again active. What we fear is that their campaign becomes more and more desperate, and as a wounded creature, they are more and more savage in their actions. What concerns us is that there have been quite a lot of movement between Hamrun and Hajr and Al-Marghab. We will investigate to check if there is a growing connection between the terrorists here and the ones there, because if it is, we believe the HNLO is slowly going through an ideological shift, from an irreligious organisation, solely nationalistic, to a new one, where Islam is the backbone of their legitimacy. Even so, we will make sure that the people in Hamrun are safe from those bloodhounds and everyone organising and planning crimes against humanity will be punished. The island will remain safe!" stated senyor Bernat Puigdevanol i Bonet, the Minister of Justice.

Gobierno firma acuerdo de escudo antimisiles con Tianlong
Government signs missile shield deal with Tianlong

Good tidings from Uicheon, as the Ebrian delegation led by el més excel·lent Siveri Massanas, the Prime Minister and la seva excel·lència Ada Valen i Codony, the Minister of External Affairs, have announced the end of the state visit the capital city of the Republic of Tianlong. The delegation discussed a series of subjects with the representatives of Tianlong, such as the current political situation, the status of the EF, but also, maybe even more importantly, managed to secure a series of Tianlongese investments for the Ebrian infrastructure as part of the World Belt Initiative, while also signing a deal for Ebria to get the Dragon Fire Missile Shield, which is designed to target smaller missiles, not transcontinental ICBMs.

It has been reported that Ebria will pay Tianlong about 57 million Reals per battery. Even so, the costs of the shield will be covered by the defence budget. Economy wise, it is believed that the Tianlong investments into Ebria for the World Best Initiative rises up to about 3 billion Reals, much of it in naval infrastructure and transport links between the ports and the interior.

While many see the visit to Uicheon being a huge success for the Massanas government, the leader of the opposition and chairman f the Partit Restorator, Miquel Campllong i Bas, criticised the deals of the government, stating that the Missile shield an unnecessary cost which has probably been a way to bribe Tianlongese politicians to get the investments from the World Belt Initiative.

"I would say that while I commend them for getting Ebria on the list for the investments of the World Belt Initiative, the government played a shady game of corruption and bribery, so typical of the Partit Cartista. Does Ebria need a shield? Yes, it does. Does this small, useless yet expensive shield manage to do its job? I'm unsure. Is that shield part of the exchange? You sell us weapons, then you invest, so we can just create a system where we can launder some tax payer money? I am one hundred percent convinced that this was their plan. I will even call the Royal Anticorruption Directorate to investigate," stated Miquel Campllong i Bas.

Retired General Tomau Illa i Contesti, ex-commander of the Royal and Catholic Air Force of Ebria, has stated that the addition of the missile shield is great for the defence of Ebria, as the world tension has escalated in the past two years, and it will aid in the defence of the homeland.

Ebria, Radilo, Rumelia shake hands in economic cooperation:
The Meridian Sea Cooperation Program (MeSCoP) an initiative of the Ebrian minister of foreign affairs, senyora Ada Valen i Codony, is being discussed by the governments of the aforementioned countries, to bind them together in stability, friendship, cooperation and prosperity. The MeSCoP creates a common market between Ebria, Radilo and Rumelia, which not only disbands tariffs between the countries, but also allows for free travel between the nations and liberalises the labour laws, giving the right of citizens of those countries to move around and search for work as if they are in their own country. The program also creates experience exchange opportunities for students from the member countries to study for a semester per year in a different nation member of MeSCoP. After discussions between the three, it has been decided for an invitation to be forwarded to the Rheinbund too.

More than half of Pannonian refugees integrated in Ebrian society, report finds
  • A total of 200,000 refugees came into Ebria from Pannonia since the crisis started, many left for other countries
  • Out of those, about 90,000 preferred to remain in Ebria, remaining in refugee camps around Segovia, receiving basic education such as Ebrian language
  • Since 2020, about 50,000 have been integrated in the Ebrian society
Two years ago, central Germania has been rocket by one of the world's greatest crises, namely the collapse of the Pannonian Republic and and the great wars that followed, be it the War of Pannonian Succession, which created the Kingdom of Csengia, the Zaran Conflict and the Frankish intervention in Bourdignie. During the two years of conflict between the collapse of Pannonia and the signing of the Whitaker Plan which transformed Zara into a Duchy with extended autonomy within the Csengian Crown, it is estimated that about three million Pannonians have left the country in search of safety and peace.

As the initial violence took place around Kispest and in the Bajoran areas of Pannonia, the first wave of refugees came out of the heartlands of the nation and as the failed socialist revolution in Kispest was quite violent, most of the refugees were locals, Csengians (or Bajorans) who left the country. As the Csengian language is a very special one, being similar only to Dravanian and Metsamaan, most of the refugees hopped north towards Dravania and a few reached Thurigau-Lethonia to move through the Scanlaw to Metsamaa.

The second wave of refugees is what felt closer to home for the Ebrians, as they were exclusively Zaran. Some came from Csengia, as they lived on the Bajoran areas of Pannonia, many fearing anti-Tiburan sentiments as the Bajoran nationalists turned the country around and proclaimed the Kingdom of Csengia, while many more came from Zara itself as it was going through a conflict with Csengia, complicated by a socialist coup d'etat in Gonzaga, which pretty much brought complete anarchy in the area. The last wave out of Pannonia was made mostly of Germans leaving what would further become the Patois Republic within the Holy Frankish Empire, some coming to Ebria, but the majority going into Thuringau-Lethonia or the rump state of Bourdignie.

The Government of the Interior, led by señor Ivan Soria y Salazar, has announced that a total of 200,000 refugees from Pannonia came to Ebria during the two years of conflict in Pannonia, but the majority of them chose to use Ebria as a launching pad for other nations around the world, rather than stay in the country. Initial reports stated that most of them used Ebria to further travel to San Jose, Gran Occidentia, the Scanlaw, the Federation of Westernesse and some even to the Anti-State.

The ones that remained, about 90,000 have been interred in refugee camps, where they went through basic education, learning Ebrian language, some of them even learning new trades for better chances of integrating within the society. As of yet, it has been reported that 50,000 Pannonians, most of them Zarans, but also Csengians and Germans have left the refugee camps and have fully integrated within the Ebrian society.

"It is a great success. So many Zarans, Csengians and Germans have fled Pannonia and have remained and preferred to learn our language and way of life. Now, Ebria can proudly say that it has adopted all those people as they now have a job here, pay their taxes here and speak our language, they simply live like average Ebrians. For some, such as the Zarans, the common Tiburan heritage made it extremely easy to adopt the Ebrian culture as they managed to learn the language in mere months, while for the Germans or even worse, the Csengians, it was much harder, but they made huge efforts to make sure that Ebria becomes their new homeland. I am proud to say that they will soon receive their permanent residence cards and in five years from now, they will be Ebrian citizens," stated señor Ivan Soria y Salazar, the Minister of the Interior.

Junta of Hamrun votes on compulsory religion classes:
In what progressive circles have called a big step back, the Junta de Hamrun, the government of the Kingdom of Hamrun, has voted 115-85, to make religion classes compulsory again, after a federal education law adopted in 2005 stated that they would be optional and not count to the yearly average grade. The Hamrunite law states that students will choose a religion to take classes on in school, many expecting to follow the religion of the family. Currently the only options are Tiburan Catholicism and Islam. About 25% of the population of Hamrun is Muslim. The Junta of Hamrun is dominated by the Partido Restorador, who are known for their conservative policies. Cartistas have announced that they will bring the law in front of the constitutional court.
Modern perspectives on classical plays: The Modern Theatre Festival begins today in Valls, reaching it's 50th edition. As it is a jubilee for the festival, this year's theme is Modern Perspectives on Classical Plays, with the shows concentrating on classical Ebrian shows, but with modern twistsn to them. The Santa Ana theatre has announced that it will be premiering a modern take on the classical Don Agusto de la Nuoria, the 16th century play about a mad knight fighting against watermills, still thinking it's fighting Uroduah in Hamrun, while the Teatro del Oeste will premiere a new take on Life is a Dream, a tragical story about a man cursed to see the future and his trials and tribulations at the court of the Holy Frankish Emperor.

Meridian Sea nations sign Union Treaty - Radilo, Rheinbund and Ebria poised to cooperate
  • Meridian Sea Cooperation Program signed by the Cortes Generales making Ebria the first one to do it
  • MeSCoP, or the Meridian Union is designed to favour trade and sponsor cooperation
  • Once all nations sign it, it would be possible to travel to Radilo or Rheinbund using only the ID, no more visas or passports

The Cámara de los Comunes has voted on the MeSCoP Treaty, approval the Ebrian membership into the Meridian Union by a vote of 624 ayes to 176 nays, after the Cámara de los Naciones approved the treaty with 95 out of 150 votes, thus approving the Treaty through the whole Cortes Generales and thus sending it to his majesty King Arnau V to sign it, ratifying it. This has been seen as a great victory for the Meridianists in Ebrian politics, people who called for the closer cooperation of the nations of the Meridian Sea, and their attempt to form a 21st century version of the Tiburan Empire, a community of nations on the Meridian Sea where the people could enjoy the advantages of free trade, free travel and exchange programs, so as to develop further bonds of cooperation between the member nations.

As of yet, approval for the Meridian Union has been seen in the Radilan Republic and in the Rheinbund, with the governments of those nations approving membership, and their ratification of the MeSCoP Treaty to be expected very soon in Radilo and after the formation of a new government in Rheinbund. Officially, nations eligible to Meridian Union membership are the ones neighbouring the eponymous sea, thus besides the aforementioned ones, Csengia, Vrijpoort, Caria, Pelasgia, Hajr, Al-Marghab, Justosia, Serenierre, the Italianate city states of Inova, Aurelia, Tiburtina, Portuense, but also the Holy See of Tibur. As of yet, some either are seen as not adhering to the same world outlook as the Meridian Union nations, making it impossible to allow free trade and travel, such as Justosia and Csengia, while others are part of military conflicts, thus making them ineligible, such as Hajr and Al-Marghab. For the others, there have been some initial negotiations with Caria and Pelasgia while for the rest nothing has been started yet. Even so, the Ebrian Meridianists are optimistic that the Meridian Sea can transform, especially in its Gallogermanian shores into an oasis of stability, prosperity, democracy and peace.

The Meridian Union provides three main elements to the member nations, that is free trade, a reduction to zero to the import tariffs, thus creating a trade block between the three nations, free travel and the liberalisation of the labour laws, making it possible for citizens of the member nations to travel freely without the need of a visa or a passport (if some nations don't offer ID cards, a passport will still be necessary), while also making relocations and employment easier within the block. The last element is the exchange program, which will allow students to study for one or more semesters abroad, in other universities of the member nations, thus creating a framework for an equivalent credit and grading system, making it possible to have the semester spent abroad.

The free trade element is set as of yet to create a common market with relatively high purchasing power made out of nearly 120 million people, and will aid the companies functioning in Ebria, Radilo and Rheinbund, as the three share some of the biggest percentages in imports and exports between them. As of yet, Rheinbund and Ebria are both the highest share of wealth going between them as they are both the post important trade partners they have, while Ebria is the source of much of Radilo's imports, followed closely by Rheinbund and afterwards Caria and Pelasgia.

It is expected that this trade offer will lower the gas prices in Ebria and Radilo, as Rheinbund is an important natural gas producer in Gallogermania, while the Rheinbunder steel industry will receive a boost from cheaper Ebrian coal. At the same time, there are many banks in Radilo which can't wait for the liberalisation so they can enter the Ebrian and Rheinbunder markets. In the health care systems of Ebria and Radilo there are great hopes that an easier access to Rheinbunder medical products will provide an increase to the quality provided for less costs. There are some concerns too, as the Ebrian carmaker ENEA (Empresa Nacional Ebriesa de Automoviles), will have to up its game if it will be ready to compete with the Rheinbunder auto industry.

"The Meridian Union will take a while to get used to, but it will be a success, bringing our three nations together. When we offer free trade and travel, we can expect in the short run an explosion of tourism, while in the medium run, we will observe our economies growing, as we become greater than the sum of our national economies, thanks to cooperation and the ease of travel and doing business. In the long run, we future proof the northern shores of the Meridian Sea, as so many people will get used to traveling easily between our nations so that xenophobia will never be a problem anymore between Ebrians, Radilans and the Rheinbunders, making sure that our three nations will remain closely aligned for the decades to come," stated Ada Valen y Codony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Hamrunite terrorists attack police station in Mdina. Twenty dead
  • Hamrunite terrorists strike again
  • Greatest attack in decades, as police station in Mdina assaulted
  • Twenty dead and more than that wounded, as terrorists take over the station and steal weapons

An assault was reported this morning in the small town of Mdina in the Kingdom of Hamrun, with the terrorists of the fanatic Islamic and nationalist group named HNLO (Hamrunite National Liberation Organisation) attacking the police station of the town, killing 15 members of the Guardia Local, wounding many more, and stealing many weapons from the armoury of the station. The HNLO has been known for terrorising the isle of Hamrun, its people and administration since the 1970s, going as far as organizing terror attacks on the citizenry and assassinations targetting government officials, managing to kill Prime Minister Pietro Manzi in 1999. The recent attack has been the most violent in the last two decades, going as far as being compared to the rural guerrilla warfare the HNLO waged in the 1980s and 1990s.

Early in the morning, HNLO terrorists surrounded the sole police station of the small town of Mdina, opening fire when a member of the Guardia Civil came out of the building and saw the trespassers. In what followed, the terrorists overwhelmed the building by firing upon it, while the members of the Guardia Civil took refuge on the upper floor, firing back. The siege lasted about an hour, with losses on both sides, until reinforcements from the nearby town of Victoria came, followed by Guardia de Asalto from San Lawrenz. It has been reported that the main goal of the attack was the liberation of Ninu Giusti, one of the commanders of the HNLO, imprisoned in Mdina, while awaiting transportation to San Lawrenz. The arrival of the security forces forced the terrorists to withdraw, without liberating Giusti, whom has been transported by now to mainland Ebria, but they managed to steal many small weapons, grenades and even explosives.

"It is a severe situation, if the security of the island degraded so much that the HNLO is active again to such levels that they assault unscrupulously police stations in the rural areas. It has been a mistake on our side, believing that destroying the cells operating in San Lawrenz we managed to outright castrate the group, but it seems that we forced it to move its operations in the rural areas, where they show an even more savage outlook towards their relations with the law enforcement and the people of Hamrun. With deep sadness I am forced to call on a warning on travel on the rural areas of Hamrun, because of the attack, but even so, I will continue to guarantee that any tourists visiting the island, especially San Lawrenz will continue being extremely safe," stated Gerardo Ross, the head of the Junta of Hamrun and Premier of the Kingdom.

The Royal and Catholic Ministry of Justice, together with the ministry of the Interior have stated that it is possible that because of the imperialist Tarusan and Frankish war in Himyar, many Uroduah there will rise up in the defence of their lands and will use Islam as a call for resistance and defence against what they call "neo-crusaders", a term that the HNLO already used since the 1970s to refer to the Ebrian authorities. The Ministries stated that they expect the HNLO to turn even more towards the clerical side, leaving behind left-wing, secularist nationalism, as religion becomes a rallying call for resistance against Christians.

His majesty remains in a coma:
His majesty, King Arnau V de Vilar will remain in a coma, the Emergency Hospital of Valls announced after he suffered a stroke a few days ago. As of yet, his situation is stable, but the doctors still refrain from stating anything, be it possitive or, God forbid, negative. While he is in this unfortunate state, the government has announced that it has named Infante Mateo, the heir to the throne as regent, until his majesty wakes up or until he will be crowned as the new king of Ebria, Nuoria and Hamrun.

His Majesty, King Arnau V, pronounced dead after heart attack while in coma

  • King Arnau V was in a coma for a week after he suffered a stroke
  • Doctors spent nearly two hours trying to bring him back after a heart attack, but fail
  • His eldest son, Infante Mateo, recently proclaimed regent, to become the next king
Sad news coming last night from the Emergency Hospital in Valls, which have been announced with bells ringing through the whole nation, as his majesty, King Arnau V has been declared dead after suffering a heart attack. His majesty has been interred in the ER after he suffered a stroke at the royal palace, falling off his feet and losing conscience. Falling in a coma and remaining this way for about a week as the doctors tried their best to wake him us, he suffered a hear attack last night. Doctors spent more than two hours trying to bring back any form of faint heart beat, but nevertheless it failed, and he has been declared dead after midnight.

His majesty was born in 1965, and took the throne in 2009 at the age of 44, after his father, the late King Mateo II abdicated. Until the moment of his coronation, King Arnau was a famous car racer in Ebria, being sponsored by the ENEA car corporation. During his younger years, he was even the subject of intense criticism from the press, as he was seen as caring much more of his racing career than his duties as heir to the throne. But even so, when push came to a shove and he was faced with the reality of having to take over the Dragon Crown from his father, at that time Infante Arnau rose to the occasion and in time, became of the most popular kings of Ebria in recent memory.

Besides not fully renouncing his long time hobby, the King has been instrumental in repairing the centuries strained relations between Ebria and its sibling countries, ex-colonies of the United Kingdom, like San Jose and Gran Occidentia, with a series of extremely successful tours in those nations. He also became known for his charitable activities, promoting the research and fight against cancer and HIV/AIDS, while recently also actively intervening on behalf of the refugees coming into Ebria from late Pannonia, to aid in their integration within their new homeland.

It has been known for quite a while that the King has been suffering from extreme migraines, and he was recommended to reduce his activity and get more rest. There have been rumours that the migraines appeared after a car accident in his early 20s, when he first took on car racing, and that as he aged they became stronger and stronger, but the medical community in Ebria reported to concussions after that accident and the fears of aneurysm were laid to rest as repeated scans and analyses showed no issues. Even so, the stroke his majesty suffered last week was so strong that it pushed him into a coma.

"It is with great shock and sadness that we have to announce the death of his Majesty, King Arnau V de Vilar. It is the end of an era, as during his reign, Ebria rose to new heights of development, with the quality of live breaking records after it was lower than the Gallian average for decades. Ebrians will forever look back to the days of Arnau V to think of simpler days, more optimist ones, when peace prevailed and live was easy and good. Now, the times are changing, and with the world becoming much more unstable and different than the one we were used to before, we will offer the Dragon Crown and the mantle of the monarch of the United Kingdom to his eldest son, Infante Mateo. May he too rise up to the occasion and lead his nations in peace, stability and prosperity! Long live the king!" stated his excellency, Prime Minister Siveri Massanas in the press conference announcing the demise of his majesty.

Infante Mateo will be crowned soon, and he will take the regnal name Mateo III, becoming the the third bearing the name of the apostle, after the King Mateo I, who ruled Ebria in the 1200s, and King Mateo II, his grand father, who reigned from 1985 to 2009.

[ Statement from the Office of the President of The People's State of Gran-Occidentia]

It is a sad day across the world, and we in Gran-Occidentia mourn the passing of a great man. King Arnau V was a great man and a truly noble monarch who has been taken from us all too soon. King Arnau was a man the likes of which we may never see again, a peacemaker and friend to all mankind. As a private citizen and also as Caudillo and on behalf of all the citizens of Gran-Occidentia I wish the royal family and the people of Ebria the deepest of condolences.

I wish the Infante a peaceful and prosperous reign, and I have no doubt he will continue in his father's footsteps and lead Ebria to a brighter future. I look forward to the friendship between Gran-Occidentia and Ebria that the late King Arnau helped to build continuing in the future.

Enrique Martinez-Roca, Caudillo and President of the People's State of Gran-Occidentia

Meridian Union to commence operations on the 1st of June

  • Regent Mateo de Vilar signs the ratified MeSCoP Treaty
  • Ebria, Rheinbund, Radilo and Pelasgia united together in free trade and travel
  • Starting the 1st of June, one can travel without any passport
After being voted and ratified by the Cortes Generales, the MeSCoP Treaty has been signed by Infante Mateo, who for the first time uses his royal prerogative to sign a bill into law, as regent of the United Kingdom and future to be king, bearing the Dragon Crown of Ebria. In his first day as the official Regent, while also waiting for the coronation, his grace Infante Mateo has been extremely busy, organising the state funeral for his late father and signing a series of bills into laws which have been voted by the Cortes Generales since King Arnau V had fallen in his coma. The most important bill signed was the MeSCoP Treaty, but between the bills was also the same sex marriage bill, finally allowing same-sex couples to legally marry, starting tomorrow.

The MeSCoP Treaty brings upon Ebria, Rheinbund, Radilo and Pelasgia a new era, as the countries are united within the new Meridian Union, creating an economic bloc of about 200 million people, with high rates of developments such as Ebria and Pelasgia and very high rates such as Radilo and Rheinbund, creating a totally new block that might tip the balance in Gallogermania. The new union allows for the free flow of trade goods between Pelasgia, Radilo, Rheinbund and Ebria, with zero import tariffs between them, with a generalised reduction of the prices of goods coming from those countries to be expected. For many people, the most important element is that it allows for people to travel freely without the need of passports, let alone visas, using only their IDs, to enter the member nations. It also allows them to find work with not limits within the member nations.

With the treaties ratified by all member nations and now even signed into law in Ebria, the extreme preparations are underway for the whole system to be put in function, with financial laws being adapted to allow for the tariff free imports, the ease of entering the countries, especially the simplification of customs bureaucracy, but also further securing the external borders of the Meridian Union.

"It is a great victory for the democratic forces who want to see the Meridian be a lake of stability, prosperity and peace. After discussing with our colleagues, we have set up the date of the 1st of June for the moment the Meridian Union is launched and people can start travelling, while trade can be done with no more issues. At midnight on that night, the member nations will be entering an era of prosperity never seen before," stated his excellency, Prime Minister Siveri Massanas.

Infante Mateo crowned King Mateo III in a surprisingly spartan ceremony
  • Infante Mateo becomes the next bearer of the Dragon Crown and head of state of Ebria
  • Coronation Ceremony took place at the San Sebastian Cathedral in central Valls
  • The Ceremony was quite spartan, unusual for the lavish traditional Ebrian ones
The people of Ebria, while still grieving from the death of his majesty, Arnau V, who has been buried in the royal crypt of the De Vilar dynasty with a state funeral, are celebrating the coronation of Ebria's newest monarch, King Mateo III, King Arnau's eldest son. While seen by many as extremely young, in his early 30s, and still a bachelor, Infante Mateo is generally seen as well prepared for the responsibilities of bearing the Dragon Crown, with many expectations that this new position will enhance his charity actions and campaigns for the defence of human rights and dignity.

The coronation ceremony itself took place at the San Sebastian Cathedral in central Valls and was led by his grace, Juan Cardinal Torrez, one of the most respected clerics from Ebria, and a very close friend to his holiness the Pope. The ceremony started with the a Mass at the cathedral, which was followed by a vote in the parliament, which unanimously invested Infante Mateo with the Crown of Ebria. This was followed by a parade of the Royal and Catholic Guards along the Ramblas of Valls, and the coronation ceremony itself within the San Sebastian Cathedral. Inside, one could see many notables, especially foreign representatives, from the Meridian Union countries, Tianlong, Gran Occidentia, San Jose, and even representatives from the Holy Frankish Empire and the Tsardom of Tarusa. In the evening, many municipalities organised concerts and public picnics with traditional foods and drinks to celebrate.

Many have observed the ceremony to have been extremely spartan, with little to no glitz and glamour so typical of the Ebrian coronations. This seems to have come from direct commands from his majesty himself, who stated that considering the current state of the world, it would be seen as poor taste to have Ebrians celebrate like there's no tomorrow, while in other parts of the world people suffer from imperialistic wars.

OTHER NEWS
EBRIA TO GUARANTEE THE SECURITY OF MU COUNTRIES:
Prime Minister Siveri Massanas announced today that the United Kingdom of Ebria, Nuoria and Hamrun will guarantee the security and sovereignty of the Meridian Union countries, namely Rheinbund, Radilo and Pelasgia, with Valls responding to any armed attacks against those countries as an attack against itself. This comes as a surprise after it was announced that the MeSCoP Treaty, which created the Meridian Union is purely political and economical. In regards to that, his excellency Siveri Massanas commented that this is just an Ebrian unilateral development, and has nothing to do with the Meridian Union itself.

Government issues set of energy saving recommendations
Amérida, Ebria

Prime Minister Pedro Herrera has announced that the government has issued a set of energy saving recommendations, so that the people begin to become more responsible in consuming energy, especially as the Gothic Sea pirates are wreaking havoc upon the petroleum shipping. Already, the shipping giant Mares Tiburanos has announced that it will reduce its Gothic Sea shipping by 80% until the crisis is solved. The rest will go only up until the ports of Jysken and on the western coast of Salen. Considering the popularity of ethanol fuel engines in Ebria, it is expected that the fuel crisis from the Gothic Sea region won't hit the transport industry just yet, but many fear that the gas imports from the Gothic Sea area will cause issues to the fertiliser industry and through that, affect the agricultural sector too.

As part of the energy saving recommendations, the government advises people no not drive solo, and associate people to fill up cars so that a single trip would transport more people, it also advises people to ensure that they turn off the lights after they leave a room and to even go as far as to try and shower if and when possible in two, to save heating energy. The government also advised people to take public transport where possible and has also stated that in the future, special vouchers will be made for people who own cars which use gasoline or diesel fuel, who can use those vouchers to get discounts on the public transport or to buy an ethanol fuel automobile.

With temperatures going from 8 degrees during the day and 2 degrees at night in average in Sahagún, in the northern reaches of the nation, there aren't great fears that as of yet the gas reserves would be exhausted in this winter, even if the Gothic Sea would become fully unavigable for the next 6 months. Temperatures in Nuoria and Hamrun and southern Ebria will be even higher for this month, while the end of January might bring negative temperatures in the north.

"It is an unpopular decision, it is true. The Csengian government has gone even further and already implemented drastic measures such as the four day workweek. Considering how isolated Csengia is and how it struggles to rebuild the production and commerical lines after the collapse of Pannonia, it is understandable, even if they are economically dependent on Tarusa. I don't believe that we will reach that point yet, but at the moment, to ensure that we don't reach the red alert like them, I ask all people to read, follow and respect the recommendations, so that we don't have to reach full blown rationing. We hope that the international community will come together and will manage to sort this new crisis,"
stated Prime Minister Pedro Herrera.

THE BIRTH OF THE MILLENIAL TELENOVELA: Telebria, the state owned television company is enjoying a full blown revival as telenovelas such as San Jose: Terra de Amor y Venganza, telling the story of an Ebrian exile coming together with Josefino revolutionaries, Fisica o Quimica, which shows sometimes absurd drama of highschoolers and Gran Vía 22, telling the story of a rich family in Amérida. The thrre shows are managing to deconstruct telenovela stereotypes, yet still pay homage to many, in what is an effort to attract young viewers by making the interactions more realistic and less over the top emotion and by tackling what were considered taboo subjects like drugs, crime, LGBT and other elements which extreme ease. Telebria's expecriment has been proved a success, as all three of them manage to bring together in front of the screens, either on television or on the company's streaming service about 13 million viewers per episode.
