His successor, Nationalist Fernando Guzman, undid this reform shortly after he was sworn in as Foreign Minister. This IE flies in the face of the 1920 senado law officially barring relationships with Socialist/Communist nations & not recognizing their governments. Be they democratically elected or otherwise. ° IT'S A NO. In an unprecedented, historic move, the Imperial Senado has upheld the Nacional Principios Law of 1920. The bill proposed by Canciller Albares to repeal fails. The Nationalist Conference lost only 2 senadors for a final vote of 53 NAY to 52 YAY. The party that holds the monarch's station divine & ultimately absolute has rebuked the aforementioned for the first time in history. The chief reasoning so far is that the overwhelming majority of Nationalist senadors found it simply unconscionable to ascend recognition of the same ideologies responsible for the Interior Ministry attack a couple days ago. Constitutionally, the Capital Court must convene a special session & render a verdict. Developing.

° Both Nationalist senadors from the Barceltia District were the YAY votes.

° Senado Orador Castro was a NAY.

° Capital Court, in unanimous 7-0 vote, formally strikes down Nacional Principios Law of 1920 as it has been rendered null & void by recent legal precedent. High Judge Raphael Cortez called it "A new era for Justosia & its territories. For better or worse."

° Speaking at morning presser, Foreign Minister Fernando Guzman: "Of course this organ will follow the orders of the Soberana. The Capital Court was clear. My feelings were, are irrelevant. This was born from Her Archipiélagic Imperial Majesty's goodwill and near religious fervor for peace and de-escalation in Europe. If this true sentiment should be violated in any way, there will be consequences. Now that certain nations are recognized, we will be keeping a closer eye on potential propaganda & disinformation as well and will issue official corrections if, or when necessary."

° Foreign Minister went on to say that its office was attempting to overlook the faux pas made by the PPR recently in its economic acts of war over forgetting imperial government had already recognized them. To whom it may concern,

The Pelasgian People's Republic applauds the authorities of the Continental Empire of Justosia for finally recognising the objective reality that the Pelasgian People's Republic exists and that it has control over its sovereign territory and all persons thereupon.

The People's Government is unaware of any "economic acts of war" waged by Pelasgia against Justosia; any threats to respond to non-recognition appropriately were never carried out and were, at any rate, merely the natural results of the absence of formal relations between two states. It ought to be remembered that when our statements were made, Justosia's recognition of Pelasgia had been rendered ineffective and inoperative by Justosia's own judiciary; thus, during that period, Jusrosia had not recognised Pelasgia.

At any rate, we applaud the learned justices of Justosia for properly discharging their function, and we reiterate our respect for the separation of powers and the internal constitutional structures of all European states.

° Ambassador to the European Forum, former Nacionalista Foreign Minister Fernando Torres reportedly instrumental in helping Tarusan delegation come to sensible agreement in Lethoian Crisis.

Ever since its inception, the Nationalist Center Right Alliance has been ardently loyal to the monarch. Carlos II's Royal, then Imperial Senado was pretty much a rubber stamp. This was of course also during the NCRA's 53 year long hold on the Principal Ministerio's, then Canciller's offices. It made the alliance's alliance that much easier. They were a legislative sword & shield for kings of past. Until this generation. This year. Emperatriz Annabella I's admirable devotion to peace in Europe has brought her to a crossroads. In the middle is Senado Orador Tomas Castro (NCRA-Avalon). Ordering the Foreign Ministry to recognize all Europe's far left nations was the step too far. For the first time in Justosian history this party opposed, even rebuked dare I say, its monarch.

What happens now & going forward? If not already, I suspect the heads of the Order & Law branches will be having many, possibly tense, working breakfasts & lunches. However that was solely a foreign policy issues, albeit a huge one. When the subjects return to say abortion, gun rights, gay marriage, border security, etc, I believe the two will find a quick detente & return to that cherished lock step of old. Complicating this is the Cancillería. It will be interesting to see who lands on what side when certain bills come to the senado floor in the future.

Scrolling through Twatter the other day I came across an entry from Some Random Justosian @Rando777. It said he believes there is an element of sexism at the heart of the mostly faceless, current opposition to Anabella I in the senado on the right side of the aisle. I must say I agree. These are Nacionalistas. They're mostly over 55 years old. They're religious. They're traditional, mainland men. Machismo is a part of their religion. They likely still believe the palace is absolute & to be forever, but dealing with their first, moderate, female Soberana is going to cause some changes in calculations likely. The relationship will never quite be the same.

° Emperatriz Annabella I orders deployment of a batallón of 500 Imperial Army soldiers to Lethonian region under EF umbrella for peacekeeping. Move is historic because Justosian troops have never been on foreign soil in any capacity before. The 154,000 strong Civil Guard is more suited for missions like these. However they are constitutionally barred from being deployed overseas.

° Senado approves in symbolic 71-34 vote.

Imperial Senado:

° Senado ratifies new agreement with @Natal Unión 90-15 Both palacios of the Order Branch say will sign.

Economy:

° Finance Ministry says unemployment remains at a low 4.1%. Will keep credit rating at A. When asked if the §50 billion allocated in the new budget for payment of foreign debts is currently being utilized, Minister Fox punted the question to Foreign Minister Guzman. Said after "El Archipiélagic Imperio de Justosia is able to pay its foreign debts." Fox gave no more specifics.

° Crown Prince Carlos III informs Emperatriz he wants his own residency. Emperatriz grants him House Francisco's large estate on the outskirts of Belalcazar. The Francisco Dynasty has been almost exclusively a west coast dynasty. With this, their presence will be solidified in the eastern part of the empire.

Europa:

° Homemade signs supporting the rebels known as the Pelagonian White Guards have started appearing in Barceltia. City is the second largest in the empire, highest Nationalist voter %, & hometown of the Emperatriz. Canciller Albares, when asked about it at his morning presser, said that free speech must remain free. Even if he finds it distasteful.

° Monarchies of Europe forming up to support Whitaker Plan. Justosia's vote is in the affirmative.

° Imperial Army batallón Sierra deploys for Lethonian region under EF mandate.

Infrastructure:

° Interior Ministry announces plans to construct a surface bridge linking Marco Island, the small island right off the east coast of the empire, with the Port Marsella. The western most point of Puerta Island directly across. Finance Minister says project will cost roughly §50 million. Logistical planning already underway.

° Interior Minister recommends Orerio as site for new AISA (Archipiélagic Imperial Space Agency) HQ. As closest to the Castilonia Desert in the southwest of the mainland, it's virtually perfect for such testing. Program is so far estimated to cost §400-450 million.

Europe:

° Emperatriz to travel to Polesia in an official capacity to witness the coronation of incoming Polesian Queen Yuliya II. Imperial Palace released statement saying that investiture of a new female sovereign is a step forward for all women of Europe.

° EF poised to ascend Whitaker Plan. Justosia's vote is for.

° Batallón Sierra arrives in designated area in Lethonian region for peacekeeping mission under EF mandate. Batallón is accompanied by the appropriate compliment of APCs. No further armaments were deemed necessary by the Defense Ministry.

Weather:

° Cloudy skies across the archipiélago today. 50% chance of precipitation in Puerta & Llave Islands. 24 Degrees C everywhere but the Sirena Islands. 25 C there. Winds E 20 mph.
