Azilia FiberLink 2030
The Ministry of Industry and Labor has announced the Azilia FiberLink 2030 Program. This is a strategic investment in the nation’s digital infrastructure. The project will lay new high-capacity fiber optic submarine cables to connect the mainland to key island territories, ensuring faster internet, higher resiliency, and more secure communications for both citizens and businesses while also maintaining the older lines for redundancy.
Phase one will see a new fiber trunk from the mainland coast near Arriga to Beget Island, replacing the decades-old cable currently in service. This line will support high-density shipping and energy corridors in the area, ensuring reliable digital services for port operations, businesses, and households alike. Phase two will establish a redundant fiber link from Beget to the southern islands of Northern Himyar, enhancing regional connectivity and building a resilient communications triangle between the mainland, Beget, and the southern island. This triangle will improve fault tolerance and ensure that service disruptions from cable cuts or accidents are minimized.
Officials highlighted that the upgrades will also benefit international commerce, as the shipping lanes off Beget are among the busiest in the Northern Thaumantic-Meridian corridor. Ports, logistics hubs, and offshore energy installations will enjoy direct high-speed fiber access for navigation systems, environmental monitoring, and safety-of-life services.
