Dear Gianluigi Di Gravesano-Carone,
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Extraordinary Ambassador of Italophone minority in Eiffelland-Retalia

The Ulkoministeriö would like to echo the statements of our esteemed friend and ally, Katalyn Faraday.
It is our viewpoint that Eiffelland-Retalia has picked a multi-front fight against our ally and friend in Sylvania. First via social media, then via diplomatic channels, later via the press and propaganda.

Today, Eiffelland-Retalia picks a fight with Sylvania and Pohjanmaa on the basis of our actions in international waters absolutely oblivious to the current threat in Gallia. It is our opinion that either the Eiffelloretalian nation is the boy who cried wolf, who will stop at nothing to disrupt and cry at the DDI for heightened opinion polls. Or can it be that the ODS really wishes to start conflict with the DDI? His Excellency the Secretary-General Alfa Vepunia seems to believe the ODS and DDI are not at odds. If this is the case, it would be wise for him to chain up his unruly and rabid dog.

The DDI announce major exercises, and last did so in Gothic Sea. Minor exercises and general traversing of international waters is not something that we believe we have an impact on the region’s security or safety are not privy to the general knowledge of any foreign entity. The truth here is that we have transiting in a region we are free to transit and we are being harassed by the Eiffeloretalian government without cause. There are proper maritime channels and this escalation is uncalled for.

Dear Secretary-General Vepunia, dear Minister Säkkinen, dear Director Faraday,

First of all, it is not us who started the fire. I reacted on an opinion article in the Charleroi Tribune Review, after which both President Breckenridge and Director Faraday started an internet war against me and Eiffelland-Retalia in general. When after that citizens of Eiffelland-Retalia who do not represent the government of Eiffelland-Retalia take up the gauntlet, they do so on their own behalf and not on behalf of the government of Eiffelland-Retalia. In my country, there is freedom of speech. We don't censure the internet. It can't be that maintaining freedom of speech is considered a problem by the governments of DDI-countries. In any case, they did react vehemently, but that was provoked by explicitly hostile remarks by Director Faraday and President Breckenridge. If you consider the twats by Eiffelloretalian citizens propaganda by the government of Eiffelland-Retalia, you don't understand this country.

And for the manoeuvres by DDI military vessels in the neighbourhood of Morsum, like Secretary-General Vepunia mentioned, the freedom of movement in international waters comes with some duties associated with politeness. Meanwhile, President Breckenridge and Director Faraday have made clear to the world that the word politeness does not appear in the Sylvanian dictionaries, and I fear that Minister Säkkinen doesn't know the meaning of that word, either, so I will explain it. The word politeness refers to socially correct behaviour that shows understanding of and care for other people's feelings. Socially correct behaviour means talking and behaving in such a way that you don't irritate other people.

Now back to the DDI military vessels near Morsum, indeed, they are in international waters. Legally, they are allowed to be there. However, given the twatter spat between the government of Sylvania and a couple of Eiffelloretalian citizens, just a tiny little bit of tact and sensitivity would have sufficed to understand that we grow suspicious when suddenly Sylvanian military vessels appear on our doorstep, and get companionship from vessels of a DDI-ally. It is completely logical that I discussed this with your ambassadors. If they would have indicated that the reason of the presence of your military vessels was monitoring the tensions between Kadikistan and Serenierre, which is also a concern to us, then we would have understood the situation and would have de-escalated on our side.

And finally, it is fine that you are concerned about the safety in the Claret Sea, but then don't behave in such a way that you are the cause of instability in the Claret Sea, otherwise you will not be the peacebringers but yet another quarrelling faction.

DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS - STATEMENT

Any instability in the Claret sea is a result of the government of Eiffelland-Retalia manufacturing it to make themselves the victim of some made up nefarious activity of our alliance. We believe in the freedom of navigation and we will continue to do so no matter how many times the Eiffellander fearmongers wish to lecture us on niceties. We have been informed by our military within the Long Sea that upon their PEACEFUL arrival, the Eiffellander military immediately began posturing military vessels and increasing military fighter patrols within their waters and airspace. We do not consider Eiffelland-Retalia or any ODS nations our enemy, but we are not so sure of how Eiffelland considers us.

We thank Secretary-General Vepunia for his attempts to bring a calm demeanor in the face of Eiffellander aggression and diplomatic attacks. However we fear that the damage is already done, the Eiffellander fearmongers cannot be trusted and so their actions mar the good image of the ODS alliance. We call upon the ODS nations of Etruria and Johnston Island to censure Eiffelland-Retalia for its dangerous rhetoric and military posturing to neutral vessels in international waters.

Ambrosian Department of State

We affirm that all nations and organizations possess the freedom of navigation upon European seas, though exceptions are made for the sake of safety in the event of conflict. The Westernesse States of Ambrosia therefore insist that concerned parties of the Claret Sea confusion heed our call to meet in Saint Theosburg to sort out this disagreement.

Our President is setting aside the rest of the week to sit down with ambassadors from Gallo-Germania to better understand the tensions in the region, and he hopes that he can meet with the Eiffeloretalian ambassador and our Sylvanian partners to clarify our concerns on the Claret Sea issue.

Serving a Higher Purpose,
Dean Dubghaill,
WSA Secretary of State

OOC: This is an edited post because I thought Auraria had offered to provide a neutral meeting earlier, which didn't happen actually.

We thank Secretary of State Dubghaill for the invitation to meet with the President of Ambrosia and discuss the problems out, and accept the invitation on behalf of our ambassador to Ambrosia. Then we will make our stance in this conflic clear.

OOC 1: @Ambrosia , is there a thread for the meeting? If yes, could you please provide the link?

OOC 2: Dean Dubghaill, is he a man or is she a woman? My first guess would be a woman, given the name, but now I am a bit less certain than in the case of Katalyn Faraday.

Eiffelloretalian companies put cooperation with Furlanian company Baviêr Tramais on hold

After Furlanie signed the Status Quo Treaty with Kadikistan, the Eiffelloretalian companies Raimer A.G., Magirus-Deutz GmbH., CCM S.r.l., Grindelwald GmbH. and Roussillac Sprl. put the cooperation with the Furlanian company Baviêr Tramais on hold upon a government directive. The reason for this decision is the fear that Eiffelloretalian techniques end up in the Rurikgrad Pact; especially the fact that Polesia would definitely copy said techniques is a reason to put this cooperation on hold.
As a consequence of this decision, employees from Baviêr Tramais are not allowed within the properties of Raimer, Magirus-Deutz, CCM, Grindelwald and Roussillac until the cooperation can be continued again. Furthermore, all copies of designs in the offices of Baviêr Tramais in which ideas from Raimer, Magirus-Deutz, CCM, Grindelwald and Roussillac are incorporated will be taken away from the properties of Baviêr Tramais.
The Eiffelloretalian government indicated that the cooperation can be continued again when at least the economic parts of the Status Quo Treaty are cancelled.

To the attention of the Eiffelland-Retalian Government

The Friulian Government and military forces are at your disposal for any logistical, tactical or diplomatic support to guarantee the safety of trade in the seas we share.
Beyond the recent differences between our Governmenrts, Furlanìe remains strong in its commitments to protect the freedom of sea movement, its national integrity and the close relations with our Southern partners.

Our concern is that products containing Eiffelloretalian patented techniques are sold to Rurikgrad Pact countries, because of the Polesian copy machinery. If Baviêr Tramais promise to not sell machines containing Eiffelloretalian patented techniques, we can continue the cooperation again.

Because we do not seek to impede on the liberty of nations, including any and all of their decision-makings, the All-Union has remained quiet on this subject until now. What happened as the result of the Grau Understanding, which is in itself a clever and mature example of mutual pragmatism, and more specifically the reaction of mainly ODS member-states is nothing less than extremely hypocritical. Indeed we would never expect any long-term vision by rogue states such as Lars, but the actions and downright economic warfare instigated by Eiffelland-Retalia stretches far beyond the boundaries of rational government. Apparently we need to remind Trier that economic cooperation between the All-Union and the Eiffelloretalians has existed ever since the 1950s mainly through the latter's investments in the Special Economic Zones. Almost 70 years later has there ever been a case where the All-Union or its unitary predecessor abused this situation for its own rather than mutual benefit?

Not even during the highly unfortunate 7 Days War were Eiffelloretalian based companies such as Masscher Goldschmiede and the Bremer Raffineriegesellschaft infringed upon in any way. The same goes for any other foreign investment in the All-Union. Therefore we take great offence on the accusation that the economic aspect of the bilateral treaty with the Grand Duchy of Furlanìe will lead to our nation acquiring the arrogantly deemed superior western technology. Frankly that very assumption is absurd given the long-standing co-operation both politically and economically between the All-Union and the Pelasgian Empire. It is no secret that the Pelasgian and Eiffelloretalian economies are heavily entwined, has there ever been a case of that which you pre-emptively accuse us for?

Apparently the leaders of the ODS already mounted their warhorses upon reading the first sentence of Article II.a of the Grau Understanding, but failed to read what followed in what can only be presumed as a blindness caused by irrational ideological hatred. Since representatives from every ODS nation seemed to believe that this bilateral treaty was in fact multilateral including all Rurikgrad Pact member-states we will quote from it below.

ART. II.a
The People's Federal Socialist Republics of Kadikistan will allow the Grand Duchy of Furlanìe the same economic and financial incentives that are given to full members of the Treaty of Mutual Friendship, Co-operation and Mutual Assistance, abbreviated as the 'Rurikgrad Pact'. The Friulians will enjoy a privileged status on the All-Union markets and Special Economic Zones regulated, but not subjected to the terms set by the Rurikgrad Pact.

This means that while for the sake of efficiency an existing and generous economic framework is utilized, but the agreements itself does not fall under said framework, its obligations and internal agreements, rather its incentives and privileges. If Rurikgrad Pact members seek similar ties with the Friulians they will have to follow the proper diplomatic channels like any other independent nation. They can criticize or condone. We suggest the ODS leaders to investigate the texts of such documents properly before making outrageous claims that will only further damage its already wavering international reputation.

If not for yourself than do it for the rest of the world and its global economy whom are all affected by the irrational, destructive and overzealous actions by the self-righteous ODS. The attempts to pressure Furlanìe to adopt ODS international policy through economic warfare are overly obvious and reason enough for profound condemnation. That the ODS leadership wilfully takes actions that damage the global economy is criminal. The bourgeois elites of these liberal democracies are more concerned with their re-election through spreading ideological hate than concerning themselves will their own and their neighbours economic welfare. The rulers of the ODS have once again proven themselves unworthy.

Is it really that difficult to understand the communications from the Eiffelloretalian government? I mentioned ten times Polesia as the copycat within the Rurikgrad Pact, and zero times Kadikistan. At least the contact lenses, glasses and hearing aides from Eiffelland-Retalia are superior to the ones from the Rurikgrad Pact, because they don't turn "Polesia" into "Kadikistan".
Dear Commissar Oghankanev, please make an appointment with an Eiffelloretalian ophthalmologist and an Eiffelloretalian audiologist. Some even speak Kadikistani, although with a German, Tiburan or French accent.

Anyway, let me say it for the 11th time, our problem with the economic part of the agreement between Furlanie and Kadikistan is the Polesian team of copycats. Polesia unscrupulously copycats everything it finds. I can guarantee you that it even copycats Kadikistani techniques. When Kadikistan wants us to look at economic agreements involving the Rurikgrad Pact with less suspicion, it should put an end to the Polesians copycatting everything.

Lobbied by Big Auto who fear the superior mechanical prowess of the Polesian proletariat, the government of Eiffelland-Retalia continues to wage a punitive campaign of economic warfare against the Polesian People's Republic, which is still recovering from the Seven Day conflict that Trier instigated in collaboration with the criminal Kahnemann regime.

With our socialist comrade states by our side we remain confident in our ability to weather any attack by any foe, be that financial or military.

Our preference would be peace but if Trier wants to continue its campaign of slander, propaganda and economic harassment we will have no choice but to respond.

The Eiffelloretalian Foreign Ministry slanders the entirety of the Rurikgrad Pact, makes references to the People's Republic of Polesia and continues to insult fellow diplomats in a manner that can only be deemed immature and unworthy of the office. What prompted the extremely unprofessional Eiffelloretalians of these insults, insinuations and downright economic warfare was a bilateral economic agreement between Furlanìe and the All-Union. Apparently it will remain a mystery why the Eiffeloretalians feels the need to drag the Volxmashin affair into this and economically attack a former friend just because they did something similar which Eiffelland-Retalia already did over 60 years ago. Trier can no longer be considered respectable and seems hell-bent on joining the disastrous policies of the tiny league of rogue irresponsible states that calls itself the ODS.

For unexplainable reasons over the past few weeks Trier has worked tirelessly to create enemies in every corner of the world, from the DDI, to Furlanìe, to Justosia and now the fellow signatory nations of the Pax Germanica belonging to the Rurikgrad Pact. You are wrong to assume your words and insults will project strength and demand respect. In fact it is the opposite. If this path is continued another conflict seems only a matter of time.

I leave the comments on my capability to lead the Eiffelloretalian Ministry of Foreign Affairs the responsibility of Commissar Oghankanev.

Fact is, that, for the 12th time, Folxmashin copycatted Eiffelloretalian car models. But even if Folxmashin's car models would not have been counterfeit, they would still not be allowed on Eiffelland-Retalia's car market, because Folxmashin has not been able yet to copycat the techniques needed to make their cars fulfil the ERAG 6d-temp exhaust gas norm.

Indeed, Eiffellandian companies invested in Kadikistan's Economic Free Zone 65 years ago, and are still active there. However, at the time they started investing, Kadikistan still respected intellectual properties, and with that engineers developing new techniques, from whichever country. Nowadays Kadikistan is aligned with the world's largest copy machinery, and even stretches its protecting hand over that copy machinery. That is a fundamental difference with 65 years ago. So fundamental that we feel urged to put export bans to Rurikgrad Pact countries on products containing vital techniques.

A 40-45 year old man with short dark blonde hair and blue eyes wearing a white shirt and a dark blue suit without tie appears on the screen.

"Good afternoon, welcome to this press conference regarding the conflict with Polesia. This is a combined broadcasting by the national and commercial Eiffelloretalian radio and television broadcasters which is also streamed by the Eiffelloretalian news websites. The questions after the initial statements will be repeated in German, Tiburan and French, and the answers will be given in German, Tiburan and French as well."

Chancellor Rheinfeld: "Good afternoon. As you are all aware, the tensions between Eiffelland-Retalia and Polesia regarding the copycatting of car models from Darner Werke and Raimer intensified. We decided to inform you more in-depth about this issue, about the stance of the Eiffelloretalian Government and about the reasons why we take this stance. Now I will give the word to Dr. Habil Ariel Rubinstein, Minister of Economic Affairs."

Minister Dr. Habil. Rubinstein: "Good afternoon. The Eiffelloretalian economy is largely based on innovation. Not innovation just for the innovation, but innovation to make our products better, safer, more economic and more environmentally friendly. This innovation is necessary. There are still diseases that cannot be cured yet, so new treatments are necessary. Some patients are too weak to undergo thoracic surgery, so if they need a new heart valve, a technique is needed to replace that heart valve through a blood vessel. That technique already exists by the way. The world, especially Eiffelland-Retalia, cannot exist without cars, but those cars have to be made cleaner. New techniques, wich are currently being developed, are needed for that as well.
All this innovation comes at a price. All the new techniques, all the new substances, and all the new devices we develop, are the result of years of research. We cannot introduce a new technique without having tested it and found out that it does what it has to do in a safe way. And all this testing cannot be done for free. We do innovate for the world, but we cannot do that for free. If others want to use our techniques, we have to ask a reasonable reimbursement covering a part of the development costs. This is luckily how it goes between almost all the companies in the world. However, if suddenly all innovations have to be done for free, then nobody will innovate because of the high costs that won't be reimbursed. Now I will give the word to Reinhard Darner, CEO of Darner Werke."

Reinhard Darner: "Good afternoon. Eiffelland-Retalia's economic system is the social market economy. This system is based on the notion that the community is more important than the individual. It is a market economy so that outstanding individual achievements are awarded. It is social, because it does not condemn the people who are not capable to outstanding individual achievements are condemned to starve. In this system, I as a CEO have a responsibility towards my employees. I have to pay them reasonable wages so that they can live comfortably. And I have to make sure that my company remains healthy so that I don't have to fire employees. This is an important responsibility that I have as a CEO, and I take that responsibility seriously. This can be checked in my company's financial reports, by the way. Furthermore, the information about the salaries I pay is public as well; it can be found in the collective labour agreements. Therefore, it sticks me extra that the Polesian Government and the board of directors of Folxmashin are accusing me of starving off the workers of Polesia while in fact they are hindering me in feeding hundreds of thousands of people and their families. We repeatedly indicated that we are willing to sell them techniques for a reasonable price, but the only thing that continuously comes back is the reproach that I am an exploiter. It is not my problem that they call me that, but it is a problem that they refuse our offers to establish a car company which does not have to rely on stealing technologies. Now I will give the word back to Chancellor Rheinfeld."

Chancellor Rheinfeld: "As you are all aware, we are prosecuting against counterfeit products whereever we can around the world. Indeed, we are also prosecuting against Folxmashin. Furthermore, as soon as Folxmashin started to market its counterfeit cars, we stopped exporting products containing advanced techniques to Rurikgrad Pact countries, because we want to prevent that such advanced techniques are copycatted in Polesia as well.
As mentioned before, this is also the reason why we stopped the cooperation of Eiffelloretalian companies with the Furlanian company Baviêr Tramais. We don't want that company to sell products containing Eiffelloretalian techniques to Rurikgrad Pact countries.
At this moment, it looks like the Rurikgrad Pact, especially Polesia, only wants friendly relations with Eiffelland-Retalia when we provide our innovations to the Rurikgrad Pact for free. I think it is evident that we don't want to do so. I repeat the words by Minister Dr. Habil. Rubinstein: We cannot innovate for free. Innovation comes at a price. Of course, that price has to be reasonable, but it cannot be zero.
It is clear that the current conflict between Eiffelland-Retalia and Polesia is caused by the Polesian copycatting. There is also the key in solving this conflict. From our point of view, the relations between Eiffeland-Retalia and Polesia can only become normal when the Polesian copycatting stops."

Journalist from RFE: "The Polesian Government activated he mutual defence clause in the Rurikgrad Pact Treaty. What will your response be? Furthermore, what will happen to the Eiffelloretalian investments in the Kadikistani SEZ?"

Chancellor Rheinfeld: "At this moment, Polesia seeks to formulate a 'non-military' response. This can be diplomatic and economic measures. Of course we will respond accordingly. We are also discussing the Eiffelloretalian investments in the Kadikistani SEZ. However, it is too early to prelude on decisions there. We will keep you informed."

Chancellor Rheinfeld: "I think it would be better if I pass that question to Mr. Darner."

Reinhard Darner: "Back in 2017, Darner werke and Raimer decided to produce cars in Trivodnia to stimulate the local economy and to produce for the local market, as well as for the markets in Elben and Gunnland. At that moment, a decision to increase production capacity was already on the table. We did not relocate production lines to Trivodnia, but started new ones there. Jobs did not disappear in Eiffelland. The reason behind that decision was a request by the Trivodnian Government to invest in Trivodnia. We started to produce the small car Darner Alisio, the cheaper versions of the Darner Solano and the cheaper versions of the Raimer Pamir in Trivodnia, while the more expensive models would still be produced in Eiffelland. That decision was our luck, because Folxmashin was only able to put its hands on those car models. Since then, we introduced a new model for the Solano and Raimer introduced a new model for the Pamir. Furthermore, we upgraded existing engines and introduced new engines to fulfil the ERAG 6d-TEMP exhaust gas norms of the Eiffelloretalian government. The engines produced by Folxmashin are still based on the ERAG 6 norm that was applicable until 31 December last year.
I also have to point at the fact that the decision to produce a car model abroad is never solely based on salary costs. Such decisions are also based on efficiency. For instance, we also build cars in Pelasgia for the Hymiary market. The reason is, that transporting the iron ore and the car parts to Pelasgia and assemble the cars there is more efficient than transporting the iron ore from Natal to Eiffelland-Retalia and then ship the cars to Hymiar. We do the same in Westernesse. We have the iron ore mined locally, we send the specialised car parts over there and then have the cars assembled there. Also there, it is more efficient to send the car parts over there than to ship complete cars.
A third reason to produce locally, is to do something for the local economy as well instead of only taking the profit."

Dvorah Kaas, Radio Television Nedernesia: 'Minister Rubinstein, we have heard reports that Eiffelland and the auto makers in Eiffelland intends to take legal action against Folxmashin in other countries. Is it likely that such litigation will also take place in Nedernesia and will Nedernesian banks that work with Folxmashin also be targeted by such actions?'

Minister Dr. Habil. Rubinstein: "When Folxmashin intends to sell cars in Nedernesia, we will certainly take legal action against Folxmashin in Nedernesia. We will also do so if Folxmashin intends to produce cars in Nedernesia. Furthermore, we have taken legal action against companies that deliver parts and materials to Folxmashin, and we will continue to do so. However, we have to be reasonable with that. If car parts end up in Folxmashin cars without the consent of the manufacturer of said car parts, we won't charge the manufacturer. Of course we strongly urge banks and insurance companies to not work with Folxmashin. However, the Nedernesian law is applicable to banking activities in Nedernesia. If Nedernesian law allows to work with Folxmashin, we cannot take legal action against that. It should also be mentioned that Eiffelloretalian law is applicable to banking activities in Eiffelland-Retalia. And finally, it is standing policy of both the Eiffelloretalian government and the Eiffelloretalian companies to not work with foreign banks which are known to work with Folxmashin."

The power of Fullerene compounds

Fullerene compounds have a large potential in the fight against infectious diseases and cancer. They have not been tested for that purpos yet, however. The reason is, that fullerenes are not water-soluble, which makes it impossible to use them as medication. Biochemists of the Robert Koch Universität Weissenfels have managed to create water-soluble Fullerenes. A spokesperson of the Robert Koch Univeri called this development “a breakthrough”: “Resistance against antibiotics is becoming more and more of a problem. Therefore, the search for new antibacterial substances must continue. With the development of water-soluble Fullerenes, we are able to investigate a completely new class of medications.”

Commissariat for Health and Welfare
While the news emerging from Eiffelland concerning new medicaments designed to counter new frontiers in threats to human health is interesting and indeed important, the Commissariat for Health and Welfare cannot sanction wide-scale or even limited human use at this time without further research.

The University of Villesen's Institute for Prevention of Infectious Diseases has expressed interest in engaging with Eiffellander researchers in the interests of the common welfare of humanity. It is hoped that the RKUW responds positively to such overtures.

Dear Commissar Dr. Med. Bertheny,

Indeed, we did not mention explicitly that the water-soluble Fullerene compounds are not ready for use in humans yet. Actually, we even haven't started the animal tests yet. We are writing the protocols for that.

However, with all due respect, you cannot state that we Eiffelloretalians would throw a substance on the market without thoroughly testing it.

Eiffelland was the first country in the world to make thoughts about drug safety. Eiffelland was the first country in the world to introduce laws on clinical research with pharmaceutical products, with drug safety in mind. The same for medical devices. Back in the 1970s, Eiffelland and Retalia took the initiative to organise a conference to harmonise national legislations regarding the registration of pharmaceutical products, as well as the development of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regarding clinical research on pharmaceutical products.

Of course we value criticism very much, because 1. thanks to criticism we know what to improve, and 2. criticism gives us the opportunity to explain our products better. If you think that we made a mistake somewhere in our investigations, please tell it. We offered our article to the peer-reviewed scientific journal International Journal of Biochemistry; please do read it and point us at the weak points.

But it goes a bit far to suggest that we don't do our research because we didn't explicitly mention that the research is not ready yet, also because you could already conclude out of the phrase "we are able to investigate a completely new class of medications" that further research is necessary before Fullerenes can be introduced to the market.

With best regards,

Erwin Waagemann, Minister of Public Health and Welfare
