Kadikistan imposes tariffs on Natalian, Johnstonian and Eiffelloretalian companies

In response to the intensified conflict between Eiffelland-Retalia and Polesia due to the copycatted Folxmashin car models, Kadikistan decided to reduce incentives that Natalian, Johnstonian and Eiffelloretalian companies active in Kadikistan's Economic Free Zones enjoyed. This mainly led to tax increases. The Eiffelloretalian companies currently active in the Kadikistani Economic Free Zones are the Konigliche Eiffelländische Bergbaugesellschaft (KEBG), Manzer Metallurgie, the Bremer Raffineriegesellschaft (BRG), Masscher Goldschmiede and the Rathenau Gruppe. KEBG currently mines oil and metal ores, Manzer has a blast furnace, BRG has a refinery, Masscher mines for gold, silver and gems, and the Rathenau Gruppe has a factory in Kadikistan's Economic Free Zones. The Eiffelloretalian activities in the Kadikistani Free Economic Zones are mainly focused on producing for markets outside Kadikistan, except for the Rathenau Gruppe, which also produces for the Rurikgrad Pact market.

Government starts discussions with Rathenau Gruppe on planned withdrawal from Kadikistani Key Economic Zone

After a 60 year presence in the Klinsk Key Economic Zone in Kadikistan, the Rathenau Gruppe announced in a press release that it will discontinue its activities in Kadikistan. Reasons for this decision were indicated as a "drop in demand for our products in Rurikgrad Pact countries, as well as the tariffs imposed on us by the Kadikistani government".
Rumours indicate, however, that the National Government is currently talking to the board of directors of the Rathenau Gruppe regarding this decision. Reason for this intervention is rumoured to be a fear for a further escalation of the conflict.

Retalia lifts ban on Communist parties

Despite the tense relations between Eiffelland and Kadikistan, the excplicitly Marxist-Leninovist Kommunistische Partei Eiffellands (KPE) has never been forbidden in Eiffelland. Its members were detained during the 2018 war, but it was never forbidden. Actually, no Communist party is forbidden in Eiffelland. There is a Marxist-Sérazinist party, a Trotskist party and since last year a Syndicalist party. These parties are not popular though. The KPE used to have some seats in the Staatstag and in the provincial parliaments, but the increase in tensions until 2018 and the 2018 war caused the KPE to disappear from all parliaments in Eiffelland. Currently the Trotskist Party is the only Communist party that is represented in a parliament: Two seats in Helgoland. But at leas, Communist parties are allowed.
That is different in Retalia. There all Communist parties are forbidden. That is a remnant of the situation from before the unification. Where the Eiffellandian interpretation of free speech allowed the Communist parties to exist, Retalia took the path to ban all parties favouring a dictatorship.
As part of the upcoming constitutional change, the government of Retalia decided to lift the ban on Communist parties. The reason behind this decision is indicated to be the notion that all opinions should be heard, also opinions which conflict with democracy.

Political spectrum reshapes in run-up for constitutional change

Officially, the new country structure has not been turned into law yet. The needed constitutional change still needs to be voted upon by a new parliament. The political spectrum is already changing however. Especially in Retalia, where members of the two largest political parties (the Democratic Union (Conservative) and the Liberal Reform Party (Liberal-Centrist)) are splitting and reuniting to an Eiffellandian model with a centre-right slightly conservative party (Christian-democrats), a Market Liberal party and a Social-Liberal party.
Furthermore, in Eiffelland, the parliamentarians who broke off the Sociodemocratic SPE last year are forming a political party as well: The Pacifist Socialist Democratic Party (PSDP). Like its name indicates, it is a Socialist party which adheres to the parliamentary democracy and advocates pacifism.
A third development is a nation-wide unification of political parties. In Eiffelland, Helgoland and Rügen, there are eight big political currents:
— Christian-Democrats.
— Sociodemocrats.
— Market Liberals.
— Social-Liberals.
— Conservative Christians.
— Environmentalists.
— Far-Rights.
— Communists.
However, the KPE, the far right Volksunion and Grün (the environmentalists) are the only parties that operate in both Continental Eiffelland and Helgoland and Rügen. The five other political currents are represented by distinct political parties in all three country parts.
This is all going to change as well. The political parties from all country parts are uniting, and the parties and factions from Retalia are joining in. These are the political parties that are forming:
— Christian-Democrats: Christlich-Demokratische Partei (CDP) / Partito Christiana Democratica (PCD) / Parti Chrétien-Democrate (PCD).
— Sociodemocrats: Sozial-Demokratische Partei (SDP) / Partito Socialista Democratica (PSD) / Parti Socialiste Democrate (PSD).
— Market Liberals: Union für die Freie Demokratie (UFD) / Unione per la Democratia Libera (UDL) / Union pour la Democratie Libre (UDL).
— Social-Liberals: Liberal-Demokratische Partei (LDP) / Partito Liberale Democratica (PLD) / Parti Libérale Democrate (PLD).
— Conservative Christians: Christliche Verfassungspartei (CVP) / Partito della Constitutione Christiana (PCC) / Parti de la Constitution Chrétienne (PCC).
— Environmentalists: Grün / Verde / Vert.
— Far-Rights: Volksunion (VU) / Unione del Popolo (UP) / Union du Peuple (UP).
— Pacifist-Socialists: Pazifistisch-Sozialistisch-Demokratische Partei (PSDP) / Partito Pacifista Socialista Democratica (PPSD) / Parti Pacifiste Socialiste
Democrate (PPSD).
— Syndicalists: Eiffelloretalische Syndikalistische Partei (ERSP) / Partito Syndicalista Eiffelloretalica (PSER) / Parti Syndicaliste Eiffelloretalien (PSER).
— Marxist-Serazinist: Eiffelloretalische Marxistisch-Serasinistische Partei (ERMSP) / Partito Marxista Serazinista Eiffelloretalica (PMSER) / Parti Marxiste
Séraziniste Eiffellorétalique (PMSER).
— Trotskist: Eiffelloretalische Trotskistische Partei (ERTP) / Partito Trotskista Eiffelloretalica (PTER) / Parti Trotskiste Eiffellorétalique (PTER).
— Post-Delegationist: Eiffelloretalische Antistaatspartei (ERAP) / Partito Antistatale Eiffelloretalica (PAER) / Parti Eiffellorétalique Contre l'Etat (PERCE).

Furthermore, the KPE is discussing about changing its name into "Eiffelloretalische Marxistisch-Leninovistische Partei / Partito Marxista-Leninovista Eiffelloretalica / Parti Marxiste-Leninoviste Eiffellorétalique.

Rathenau Gruppe cancels withdrawal from Kadikistan and stays in Klinsk Key Economic Zone

Walther Rathenau, CEO of the Rathenau Gruppe, indicated in a press conference that the Rathenau Gruppe comes back on its decision to withdraw from the Kinsk Key Economic Zone in Kadikistan after discussions with the Government and the King. The activities performed by the Rathenau Gruppe in Kadikistan will be continued; the Rathenau Gruppe will stay in the Klinsk Key Economic Zone.
Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Habil. Rubinstein indicated that he is happy that the Rathenau Gruppe will continue its activities in Kadikistan. Minister of Foreign Affairs Di Gravesano-Carone issued a short statement before the media: "Let it be clear that our conflict with Polesia is about the copycatting activities by Folxmashin and not about Communism in general. We have indicated numerous times that we consider the choice of an economic system an internal one. We never condemned countries for adopting a Communist system. We do not take copyright infringements lightly, but that has nothing to do with hatred towards Communism."
Walther Rathenau did indicate that it should not become too difficult to sell products from the Rathenau Gruppe in the Rurikgrad Pact countries: "We consider it our duty to keep as many people employed as possible, but we cannot keep loss-making facilities open if we don't have the possibility to make them profitable again. Please realise that the salaries we pay have to be earned as well."

Chancellor Rheinfeld: "We are open for agreements, but copyrights must be maintained"

During the Chancellor's weekly press conference, the trade conflict with the Rurikgrad Pact was a large topic. Chancellor Rheinfeld gave the following analysis.
"Our conflict with Polesia about the Folxmashin cars dates back from July last year, when Folxmashin presented perfect copies of the Darner Alisio, as well as of the previous models of the Darner Solano and the Raimer Pamir. Minister Di Gravesano-Carone raised the topic during last year's conference in Belgarsk; Darrner and Raimer tried to come to an agreement with Folxmashin, including helping with designing other cars or producing Eiffelloretalian cars in licence so that the jobs provided by Folxmashin are not jeopardised. In all cases, the only message coming back was that Polesia did not want to succumb to capitalist fat cats. Then only one interpretation is possible: Folxmashin does not want to stop producing copies of Eiffelloretalian cars, and the Polesian government does not want to intervene in this matter.
Then two choices are possible: Either we leave it as it is, or we prosecute worldwide against Folxmashin. We decided to do the latter, for the following reasons. First of all, research and development cannot be done for free. This is something the world must understand, otherwise there is no use to discuss any further.
Moreover, we have evidence that Folxmashin cars were sold as Darner cars after the Folxmashin emblems had been replaced with Darner emblems. This led to uncertainty about whether a Darner Solano was really a Darner Solano or a Folxmashin copy. Darner and Raimer solved this issue by taking the production of the emblems in their own hands, glueing the emblems to the cars in such a way that they are demolished when they are removed, and making it possible to check the authenticity of the cars by comparing the chassisnumbers and the production dates. But it may be evident that this led to reputation damage.
And finally, if we don't act against copycatting, then everyone will feel entitled to plagiarise whichever idea. Last year it were three car models, next year it may be a complex chemical process. In the end, research and development will not be profitable any more, and will stop. At least commercial companies will stop with it.
Those are the reasons why we decided to act against Folxmashin, and those are the reasons why we will continue to act against Folxmashin until they stop producing the current car models.
However, we are open for a compromise regarding Folxmashin. That compromise looks like the following:

  1. Darner and Raimer will provide the designs and molds of the following cars for free:
    • .
    • Darner Solano IV and .
    • Darner Mistral V and .
This means that Folxmashin would have a model above its equivalent of the Solano.
In legal terms: Folxmashin will be licenced to use these models, and the licence fee will be 0.
  2. Furthermore, Darner and Raimer will stop prosecuting against Folxmashin for the copyright infringements committed between 1 July 2019 and 30 April 2020.
  3. In return, Folxmashin will stop producing the car models that are copies of the Darner Alisio III, Darner Solano V hatchback and sedan, and Raimer Pamir model from 2011. It will be allowed to use the engines it currently produces though.
  4. For fulfilling the ERAG 6dTEMP and ERAG 6d exhaust gas norms, Darner and Raimer will provide the techniques for that against the normally applicable fees.
I also want to say something about Furlanie. First of all, we never wanted to suggest that Baviêr Tramais and the government of Furlanie would deliberately leak company secrets about advanced techniques to anyone. Our fear was, and still is, that machines containing Eiffelloretalian patents land in the hands of people who take the machines apart to find out how it was designed. And also there, we do not fear that Furlanie will deliberately hand such a machine over to the wrong people. We have all the trust in the good intentions of Baviêr Tramais and the government of Furlanie.
The economic sanctions against Furlanie are a matter of the ODS, but we are willing to lobby for a relaxation of these sanctions. Furthermore, we are willing to allow the cooperation between machine construction companies Baviêr Tramais, Grindelwald, Roussillac and CCM again, if Baviêr Tramais and the government of Furlalnie commit themselves to guarding against copyright infringements. This does not depend on whether Darner, Raimer and Folxmashin come to an agreement."

Eiffelloretalian car companies launch campaign in Nedernesia

Raimer tries it with: "900,000 ƒ for a Certificate of Entitlement? Then the car must be perfect. Raimer." Borschel and EKW emphasize their technical meticulousness. Darner puts its electric car in the picture. All try to get a foothold in Nedernesia by pointing at the high quality, durablility and comfort of Eiffelloretalian cars, as well as pointing at the service garages which maintain the cars according to an extensive program, "so that you don't have to go to the auction for a new certificate too often". New is the offer to supply spare parts at a reduced price in the case of a looming economic total loss after an accident.

to: Open Letter to Chancellor Rheinfeld

Greetings,
Let us clear the shadows posed by the central Government of Eiffelland-Retalia in regards to the self-evident act of economic warfare taken by the Eiffellander car-making companies.

  1. Baviêr Tramais makes machinery, industrial equipment and robotics, we also have a renowned expertise on the organisation of industrial plants to achieve maximum production performances. BT worked closely with the Eiffellander car-making companies in their newest projects, giving its expertise and offering its technology to the aforementioned companies hoping to gain trust and reach future contracts. BT has never bought nor acquired in any other way the new cars created by the Eiffellander companies, we only helped maximising their production, focusing on industrial automation and coordination.
  2. If the Eiffellander car-making companies are so afraid of their cars being stolen by Polesia from the private citizens owning them, it is not BT's fault. If those companies really can't seem to accept the concept of free market, the only solution would be halting sales, a project that the Friulian public has already kick-started by boycotting those companies.
  3. Observing the fact that BT had nothing to do with this absurd economic war between the most renowned and rich car-making companies of the entire Gallo-Germania and their third world cheap rivals beyond the economic curtain of communism; we se no reason for those companies to cut cooperation with us.
  4. Furthermore the decision to abruptly terminate the contracts stipulated with BT without further notice meant that our company lost Money, Face, and our own Technology and Expertise. Making the Eiffellander car-making companies the real thief from our point of view. And I think it isn't unreasonable for us to demand a public apology and a compensation for our losses.

Open letter to Mrs. Estiâr Caronon, Managing Director of Baviêr Tramais

Dear Mrs. Caronon,

Like I phrased it during my press conference, it is also our intention clear the troubled relations with our neighbour-country.

Unfortunately, I have to point at some mistakes in your open letter.

First of all, the relation between Baviêr Tramais and the Eiffelloretalian car industry. Actually, it was not Baviêr Tramais alone which delivered machines to the Eiffelloretalian car industry; it was a consortium of Baviêr Tramais and the Eiffelloretalian companies Grindelwald, CCM and Roussillac. The development of new machines for the Eiffelloretalian car industry was part of a cooperation between Baviêr Tramais, Grindelwald, CCM and Roussillac, and this cooperation was turned into a general cooperation between those four companies.

Second, the Eiffelloretalian companies paid these four companies for the delivered machines. Lease fees are still being paid as well. The intention to cancel lease fees has never been phrased, and it was never the plan to cancel payments as part of a lease contract. The Eiffelloretalian car industry is still fulfilling its obligations which are part of the lease contract for the delivered machines. The accusation of theft has no basis in the facts.

What was actually put on hold, was the cooperation between Baviêr Tramais, Grindelwald, CCM and Roussillac. Indeed, out of fear that Eiffelloretalian techniques would land in the wrong hands. However, even if that cooperation was put on hold, Grindelwald, CCM and Roussillac still fulfil their financial obligations towards Baviêr Tramais. Also here, it was never the intention to cancel any payments to Baviêr Tramais. This also means that Baviêr Tramais's share in the lease fees paid by the Eiffelloretalian car industry is paid to Baviêr Tramais. And of course, all payments are conducted through the channels agreed on at the start of the cooperation between Baviêr Tramais, Grindelwald, CCM and Roussillac. Also here, the accusation of theft has no basis in the facts.

Of course it could be that the payments I just described never reached you, but then the problem is with the banks and not with the Eiffelloretalian car industry or machine industry.

I must also say that I don't like to see our concerns regarding the safety of Eiffelloretalian patents twisted into being "afraid of their cars being stolen by Polesia from the private citizens owning them" and not seeming "to accept the concept of free market". Moreover, I fail to understand the link between us wanting to protect the safety of our patents on the one hand and being afraid of car theft and not accepting the concept of free market on the other hand. It looks like this is your interpretation of free market: "Hey, hello, this is the design of my new machine, you can have it for free!" In any case, especially you as the CEO of a company producing advanced machinery should understand the importance of copyrights.

What you can reproach us for, is for overreacting. Instead of immediately putting the cooperation between Baviêr Tramais, Grindelwald, CCM and Roussillac on hold, we should have started discussions on how to protect Eiffelloretalian patents first. This is something I apologise for.

Roland Rheinfeld, Chancellor

Ferry Lohme-Bremen hi-jacked by Vierte Rote Befreiungsarmee

This morning, it became known that the Sturmvogel, one of the night ferries between Lohme and Bremen, has been hi-jacked by the Vierte Rote Befreiungsarmee. The Sturmvogel left the harbour of Lohme on Saturday 18 April at 22:15 local time. At 01:15, the captain pushed the button to indicate that the ship had been hi-jacked. One hour later, the hi-jackers announced themselves over the board radio. This is the transcript of their announcement.

On 21 April 1976, the guard of the Sonderhaftanstalt Kleinbeeren went to the cell block where Andreas Fischer, Ulrike Bienenhof, Casper Helsling, Max Basper, Horst Müller and Carl Meines, members of the Rote Befreiungsarmee, were serving life imprisonment for their heroic fight to free the people of Eiffelland from the shackles of capitalism. He found them all dead, hanging on their bed sheets. The governmental stance is that they committed suicide. However, Sepp Kornstängl, who was on duty as prison guard during the night from 20 to 21 April 1976, admitted that Staatsschutz agents entered the cells of Andreas Fischer, Ulrike Bienenhof, Casper Helsling, Max Basper, Horst Müller and Carl Meines around 4am. Kornstängl heard struggling and screams, but was told to remain silent. The murder was investigated by the Staatskriminalamt, which hushed up the affair by giving suicide as cause of death.
In the early morning of that same day, the Regiment Spezialkräfte of the Eiffellandian army stormed the plane from Luftfahrt Eiffelland that had landed in Tibur after the Neue Rote Befreiungsarmee had taken over the control. Johann Krenz, Max Grotewohl, Hannelore Liebknecht, Lisa Lardinois, Egon Malke and Ferdi Kossack were killed during the action. Johann Krenz and Lisa Lardinois were shot despite the fact that they had surrendered. Hannelore Liebknecht was shot despite the fact that she was already unable to continue fighting. This has been confirmed by passengers in the plane. However, the governments of Eiffelland from 1976 until 2019 continuously denied this, and the government of Eiffelland-Retalia still denies this.
We are the Vierte Rote Befreiungsarmee, and have hi-jacked the Sturmvogel, one of the night-ferries between Lohme and Bremen. We demand justice for Andreas Fischer, Ulrike Bienenhof, Casper Helsling, Max Basper, Horst Müller, Carl Meines, Johann Krenz, Max Grotewohl, Hannelore Liebknecht, Lisa Lardinois, Egon Malke and Ferdi Kossack. We demand that the government of Eiffelland-Retalia officially admits that Andreas Fischer, Ulrike Bienenhof, Casper Helsling, Max Basper, Horst Müller and Carl Meines were killed in their cells by representants of the Eiffellandian government, and that the soldiers of the Regiment Spezialkräfte were ordered to kill Johann Krenz, Max Grotewohl, Hannelore Liebknecht, Lisa Lardinois, Egon Malke and Ferdi Kossack, even if they surrendered.
Furthermore, we demand the release of all our comrades who were arrested in the early morning of Silvester Day last year, as well as the release of all the members of the Dritte Rote Befreiungsarmee, who have been in prison for over 35 years.
We also demand food and drinks for all the people on board for at least four days.
And finally, we demand a safe conduct to Ostmark.
The food and drinks are already needed for today. We give you 72 hours to fulfil our claims.

The Eiffelloretalian Navy is currently patrolling in the neighbourhood of the ship, which is lying still near the route between Lohme and Bremen. The Captain was contacted as well. He indicated that the ship is currently unable to sail, but that everybody on board is safe. Neither the shipping company nor the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wanted to indicate whether foreigners are on board of the Sturmvogel. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did indicate that the embassies of the foreign passengers have been notified.
The Easter holidays, which consist of the two weeks around Easter, usually lead to an increase in the ferry traffic to the Eiffelloretalian islands. That was also the case this year. As a result, the night ferry service on the last Saturday of the Easter holidays is not conducted by one but by three ferries. The boats doing the service between Bremen and the Long Sea islands are large catamarans that can reach top speeds of up to 60 km/h.

The People's Federal Socialist Republics of Kadikistan are united in condemning the hijacking currently taking place on the Sturmvogel. While the deaths of their comrades raised many questions in the past and still raises most of those today, the detainment at gunpoint of innocent civilians, fellow proletarians will not bring justice. We urge the Vierte Rote Befreiungsarmee to release the hostages and end these counter-revolutionary activities.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Government and Folk of the Federation of Natal are disgusted by the recent, cowardly attack on innocent Eiffellander civilians that is as bad as the ones experienced in Natal during the Rhino Crisis. We condemn the attacks of this 4th Generation of the Red Liberation Army and we will see it only as a desperate act of gangsterism, perpetrated by a horde of directionless persons in the search for adrenaline. There is nothing ideological about their acts to have them even proclaim the existence of a revolutionary group in Eiffelland.

We will work together with our allies in Trier and we will aid them in seeing a happy end to this crisis, with this 4th Generation being brought to justice and the innocent victims returned to their families and loved ones safe and sound. We will send a task force of the Directorate of Foreign Reconnaissance to Bremen to aid the Eiffellander authorities in bringing the victims back safely.

Signed and sealed,

Private communique
To: Eiffelland Naval Command
From: Government of Madurja

Our vessel, the frigate Santo Estevao, is nearby due to Long Sea training exercises. Aboard are a team from the Special Task Regiment (RTE- Regimento de Tarefas Especiais). At your request, we are prepared to assist your nation in this matter. As we view this as piracy rather than a simple hijacking, the Government of Madurja wishes to demonstrate its commitment to Long Sea security. We await your response.

Government still negotiating with hi-jackers of Sturmvogel

As was made clear during a press conference, the government is still negotiating with the hi-jackers of the Sturmvogel. The Government already made the commitment to re-investigate the events of the early morning of 21 April 1976. Negotiations about the release of the members of the Dritte and the Vierte Rote Befreiungsarmee are also ongoing. The Government of Ostmark has not commented yet on a safe conduct for the hi-jackers.
Meanwhile, the ship is being supplied with food, beverages and medications every day. Two people have been taken off the ship for emergency medical care in the university hospital of Bergen.

Three Unionstag members of the SPE killed in car accident

The Unionstag members for the SPE Karl Rabe, Siegfried Helms and Alexandra Vieren died in a car accident while driving back home from a party meeting outside Trier. Their car collided on the A101 with a ghost driver. All the people in both cars died in the crash.

Elections in Eiffelland, Retalia, Helgoland and Rügen in June
Cabinet looses majority after new SPE Unionstag members switch over to Pacifist-Socialists

After today's memorial of the three deceased Unionstag members, the people next on the lists of the SPE were sworn in. Immediately after they were sworn in, they announced their switch to the Pacifist-Socialist-Democratic party (PSDP / PPSD / PPSD). This party was grounded by the Unionstag members who broke off from the SPE last year as a reaction on the increase of the defence budgets. The consequence of this switch is, that the coalition between Christiandemocrats, Sociodemocrats and Social-Liberals goes from 252 to 249 members; with that, the coalition looses its majority in the Unionstag, leading to the necessity to hold new elections or to find the support of other Unionstag members. After discussions with the Prime-Ministers of Retalia, Helgoland and Rügen, Walther Grauholzer, Godebald Modrow and Reinhard Schmidt, it has been decided to hold new elections in Retalia, Helgoland and Rügen as well, so that the constitutional changes can be voted upon in second lecture as well.
In Retalia, all seats will be voted upon again. Because this country has a three-round system to elect the seats, elections will be held there on Tuesday 2 June, Sunday 7 June and Sunday 14 June. After then, the Retalian Parliament will vote on the constitution change on 16 June.
Continental Eiffelland, Helgoland and Rügen will also vote on 2 June, but because those Länder have proportional representation systems, the elections on those days will suffice to determine the parliaments there. Also these Länder will vote on the constitution change on 16 June.
If the constitutional change is approved on 16 June, new elections according to the new constitution will be held on Thursday 2 July, which is the last Thursday before the start of the school summer holidays.
The national government, as well as the governments of Retalia, Helgoland and Rügen, remain missionary until the elections of 2 July if the new constitution is approved on 16 June, or until 16 June if the new constitution is not approved. This means that the governments are still missionary for ratifying the membership of the Claret Sea Council when it is determined that this membership does not clash with a membership of the ODS.
Both the parliaments and the King have approved this plan for the coming two months.

KPE becomes ERKAP / PCERL / PCTER

As was expected, also the Marxist-Leninovist KPE was working on a new name to make clear that it is no longer the Marxist-Leninovist party for former Eiffelland alone. The new name of the KPE will be "Eiffelloretalische Kommunistische Arbeiterpartei (ERKAP) / Partito Communista Eiffelloretalica dei Lavoratori (PCERL) / Parti Communiste Travailliste Eiffellorétalien (PCTER)".

Sturmvogel liberated, hi-jackers escaped

After the negotiations with the hi-jackers of the Sturmvogel failed, the RSK boarded the ship to liberate it. The liberation went smoothly; all passengers are safe and sound. However, the hi-jackers managed to escape. The Eiffelloretalian Navy explained that the distress signal of the Fridericus Rex came in exactly at the moment that the liberation was ongoing, because of which some of the Navy vessels taking part in the liberation had to assist in the rescue action of the Fidericus Rex.

"Since when do Foreign Ministers offer such statements to a generic statement? Honestly, the ego of those guys in Trier is taller than Mount Lalande."

"Plus, who boasts about 50-50. It's almost as good as gambling."

The possibilities with algae

Algae. They were in the news ten years ago as possible sources of diesel fuel. After that, it became quiet about these green eukaryotic and diverse organisms. But the research did not stop. The Landesuniversität Altburg worked on an environmentally friendly and sustainable method to grow algae. Now they set up a facility along the Retalian Sea, near Wettingen, for putting this method into practice.
Dr. Lisa Schönberg is biologist at the Landesuniversität Altburg and developed the method. She indicated: "Algae can be used for many things. They produce proteins in a very efficient way, and also take up CO2. They can produce raw materials for the cosmetics industries, but also for plastic manufacturers, the pharmaceutical industries and chemical industries. Furthermore, some algae produce antimycotic substances, which make them interesting for farmers. With this method, they can produce these substances themselves in a cheap and environmentally sustainable manner."

Technische Universität Weissenfels and Rathenau Gruppe announce breakthrough in Lithium-Sulphur battery technique

The Technische Universität Weissenfels and the Rathenau Gruppe announced a breakthrough in the Lithium-Sulphur technique. By developing a new type of solid sulphur cathodes that are more stress-resistant while maintaining a high capacity level. Lithium-Sulphur batteries are already known to have a higher power/weight ratio than Lithium-Ion batteries, but the Lithium-Sulphur battery developed by the Rathenau Gruppe and the Technische Universität Weissenfels can contain four times as much kWh as Lithium-Ion batteries. According to the spokespersons of the Rathenau Gruppe and the Technische Universität Weissenfels, the batteries are "easy and environmentally sustainable to produce by means of water-based procedures", and are set to "reduce the amount of hazardous waste".
The Rathenau Gruppe will introduce this technique in their newest smartphones already this year. Tests in cars and solar grids are being carried out.

Royal Prince Ludwig turns 27

The youngest but meanwhile also most iconic son of King Albrecht, Royal Prince Ludwig, celebrates his 27th birthday today. With the luck that his birthday falls in the Whitsuntide Vacation, he ushered in his birthday with his friends at Jadschloss Glienicke, the weekend residence of the Royal Family.

Elections in Eiffelland-Retalia

In preparation to the constitutional change, elections took place in Eiffelland-Retalia yesterday. These elections had a lower percentage of attendance than usual. Reasons may be that the elections are held on a working day (normally they are held on Sundays), and that many people do not consider these elections really important. These elections are held for a parliament that will sit for only a month, or in Retalia’s case for two weeks. The main task for the parliament that is currently voted upon is to approve the constitutional change, after which new elections will be held on 2 July, just before the start of the Summer holiday season.

The results for Continental Eiffelland are the following:

Because of the lower attendance than normal, these elections cannot be really representative of the actual political trends in Continental Eiffelland, Helgoland and Rügen. A lower attendance is generally good for conservative or relatively conservative parties. This is a phenomenon that can also be observed in these election results.
One trend is already visible, however: The massive gain in votes of the Conservative Christians in Helgoland at the expense of the Christiandemocrats there. This is the result of the legalisation of homosexual intercourse in Helgoland.

Seat distibution Retalian parliament known after third round in elections

The seat distribution in the Retalian parliament has been announced after the third election round in Retalia yesterday. It was the first election after the conservative Democratic Union joined the Eiffellandian Christiandemocratic CDV, the Liberal Reform Party joined the Eiffellandian Social-Liberal LDP, breakaway members of the Democratic Union and the Liberal Reform Party joined the Eiffellandian Market Liberal FDV, other breakaway members of the Democratic Union joined the Eiffellandian conservative Christian PCL, and the Retalian Sociodemocrats, Environmentalists and far rights joined their Eiffellandian counterparts as well. The new seats distribution is not a really spectacular change from the previous one: The parties stemming from the Democratic Union and the Liberal Reform Party still have around 80% of all seats due to the first-past-the-post system (they obtained 51% of the votes in the first round), the Sociodemocrats and Envrionmentalists take the remaining seats, and the far rights are still not in the parliament despite having obtained 9.5% of the votes in the first round. These are the results:

Christiandemocrats: 60 seats.
Social Liberals: 57 seats.
Market Liberals: 44 seats.
Sociodemocrats: 25 seats.
Environmentalists: 12 seats.
Conservative Christians: 2 seats.

Tomorrow the new parliaments of Continental Eiffelland, Retalia, Helgoland and Rügen will vote again on the new constitution. As it looks now, the required 2/3 majority will be reached.

Minister of Defence Kranzer proposes reorganisation of armed forces

Minister of Defence General a.D. Kranzer formulated a proposal for reorganising the armed forces. Main points in his proposal are the formation of two carrier fleets with two aircraft carriers each, the purchase of 10 additional submarines, the replacement of the two oldest amphibious assault ships with one larger new one, the formation of an additional conscript army to have more people with at least a bit of military experience for the case of cases, and the creation of additional stocks of army equipment to call ex-conscripts back to arms in the case of a major conflict. He also presented plans to restructure the air force and possibly “add some planes to have a complete division”.
Currently Eiffelland-Retalia has three aircraft carriers with 35 planes each, of which two were purchased three years ago. The plans are that two additional carriers of the same type as the ones bought three years ago are bought. The oldest carrier curently owned by the Navy is planned to be decommissioned.
The two oldest amphibious assault ships are planned to be replaced with one of the same type as the newer amphibious assault ships in the Navy.
It is unclear as of now what the new types of submarines will be.
Additional to these plans, Minister Kranzer intends to put more planes into long-term preservation, but to also take the planes from the 1950s and 1960s out of the long term preservation.
Minister Kranzer indicated that he was not planning to “extend the armed forces at Justosian speed”, but rather to follow a path of additional purchases during several years, like it is done for the replacement of Wirbelsturm and Luftgeist 2 planes with Fallwind planes.

Staatstag, Staatsrat and Landestage of Retalia, Rügen and Helgoland approve constitution change

As was expected, the Staatstag, Staatsraat and Landestage of Retalia, Rügen and Helgoland approved the new constitution today. This means the end of the first-past-the-post system in Retalia, but also the start of a system in which the national government and the national parliament are really national instead of only based on the voters of Continental Eiffelland. From now on, also the inhabitants of Retalia, Helgoland and Rügen will vote for the national parliament, and will deliver ministers and state secretaries.
In order to work under the new constitution as soon as possible, new elections are scheduled for Thursday 2 July. The Sociodemocratic SDP already made a start with campaigning: Martin Schabowski, the new political leader of the Sociodemocrats, who originates from Rügen, already announced that the SDP would not support Minister Kranzer's proposal for extending the armed forces, while the new political leader of the market liberal UFD François de Chambéry indicated that the UFD will fully support Minister Kranzer's plans.
