OOC: Caledonian Affair

The Cantignian Task Force, on this day, is fit to survive until November if they are not raided. On 3/4 rations they can persist alongside water reserves. If forces prevail they will overcome all of this and return to the Friendly Confines.

1st Group in the region where the channel meets the Austwegian sea has been there now for quite some time. The forces in the northern region are not yet in place but have been Rp'd from days ago as being enroute so not in place yet. The weird ovals are the areas where they plan to enforce the no fly zones, but yet to be enforced.

I need clarification, what is happening?
From what I've read, I gather there is a call to arms for a multinational task force to bring down Marr? While, at the same time a reversal to peace talks?
I'm out of the loop and even after reading, can't grasp it fully, can someone tldr?

So, don't ask me put up dates, but a general timelines is:

  • A train derailment and and high class corruption case greatly increase frustrations in a society that already has issues with a fall of the standard of living, a living cost crisis and a growth of extreme inequality;
  • Ex-prime minister accused of corruption is acquitted, leading to the people taking to the streets and the government sending the army;
  • The revolution is hijacked by the Covenanters (Greenshirts), who push the blame on foreigners, and a "protestant cabal hellbent on destroying Caledonia"
  • Revolution is successful, royalists flee to Josepania as Greenshirts march on Dun Eidynn;
  • Greenshirts take over, disband High Kingdom and Proclaim Caledonian state; Cathal Marr becomes the Supreme Leader of the State; Immediately non-Caledonians and non-Catholics are pushed into second class citizens;
  • Arrests are being organised of political dissidents and there are many cases of extrajudicial killings of protestants; The Greenshirt regime organises labour camps in the high north, while Marr proclaims that in the future, Caledonia will lead the whole island and promises to take over Yorck and Justosia and destroy the Axis of Heresy (Hansa, Justosia, Groenmark and in one case, Istavania and Sylvania); Non Catholics and Non-Caledonians aren't allowed to own property by the new laws; Protests begin in Dun Glas, but they are responded harshly by the Greenshirts;
  • The Hansa organises a military operation to occupy the Channel Islands, so that the Greenshirts don't use them to choke traffic; Azilia recognises the Greenshirt regime and begins to sell it weapons;
  • The Greenshirt airforce attacks the Hansa ships, military bases around Yorck and Yorck itself (first attack is a failure, the military bases are moderately damaged, but the city is hit extremely hard);
  • A terrorist attack (OOC: false flag) in Dun Eidynn destroys the block where the Groenish Embassy is, as there were dissidents hiding there; Groenmark's request to bring a hospital ship to Dun Eidynn to carry their casualties and refugees away is accepted by the Greenshirts;
  • A terrorist attack (OOC: probably false flag too, we haven't discussed it) in Ceretia (Justosia), makes a few hundred casualties;
  • Justosia launches a huge missile attack on Caledonia, targeting the Naval facilities (hit extremely hard), the military bases around Dun Glas, Dun Eidynn and Rois (about a 3rd of the missiles hit their targets) and the governmental facilities (hit extremely hard. This outright decapitated the greenshirt movement as much of its upper and middle management dies and will lead in the future to the weakening on their grip on the nation);
  • Peacekeeping Taskforce is proposed by Cantignia and will probably have units from Sylvania and Josepania and others;
  • Justosian land attacks fail as their probing attacks are quickly repulsed by the Caledonian Army;
  • Caledonian attack on Yorck is somewhat successful, but the decapitation of the Greenshirt movement affects it and it can't be fully capitalised;
  • Groenmark's hospital ship reaches Dun Eidynn but is immediately impounded and confiscated by the Greenshirts, while a similar request of Eiffelland is rejected by the Greenshirts;

I hope I didn't forget anything.

Thanks for the chronology, very much appreciated. I was just confused over the sequence of events between Justosia's "invasion" and the Coalition Task Force.

Yes, I was beginning to lose track myself. Good work Ovi.

I’ll try to give some insight as to what the situation is in my embassy and any military forces etc. soon.

Maps.

better usage of this thread. Atm, there is not much information about whom has what where without having to potentially read back or blind guess, or not know at all. It also adds to the element of the story by having visual aids.

City of Obar Leamhnach - not a clue where this is beyond it is "somewhere in the north of Caledona"

But if we go off of where Justosia launched the ground invasion from Ceretia, thats a lot more central (its closer to Rios than it is Dun Glas) than northern imho but we don't know which direction this force was attacking either.

I know I would not/am not the only one that would have no idea where this would be located.

This is how I imagined it to be at the moment. If there are mistakes or I forgotten anything, let me know and I'll modify what needs to be corrected.

Dark Green represents Greenshirt full domain at the moment; One can see the bulge they formed within Yorck and also the tactical withdrawal from the far north. Dark Blue represents the Far Northern Republic an other militias aligned to them. The light blue/turquois is at the moment contested territory. around Dun Glas this means that probably Greenshirt authority collapsed, but there are strong guerrillas there that the Clan militia of Blacach a Tuath can't dislodge without help, while in the northern islands is even more ambiguous, as the islands are pretty much isolated from the mainland and there is no connection with the Greenshirt territory, but neither does the Far Northern Republic have the facilities to sent troops there, so it is a mixture of Greenshirt and Clan Blacach a Tuath militias.

ahhh see, map with more cities. that is helpful.

Thats where now seeing the post where the Justosians were launching a strike from Ceretia (which is around Dun Add & Rois), it doesn't make a whole lot of sense on them being at Obar Leamhnach unless they are going straight north (but seems thats going thru contested territory?). Its doable, but thats a long sprint north thru fighting which is problems of its own on the rearguard (just so thats aware)

thank you ovi-son

Not how I envisioned it, but I'm ok with it :3

This makes sense. I'll edit the locations to say north central Caledonia. Only he knows exactly where his cities really are.

Now that I see a map (I was going on guesstimating before) I see I'll need to change that army to its Cadiz District counterpart. This map really helps. Thanks @Caledonia

I want to dominate Meridian Sea and will soon focus on staking my claims there. And if anyone is wondering what happened to the whales. Yuan Guo reportedly has 3 ship's in this area. Apparently... I'm just saying

Right now I'm estimating that my fleet won't make it to Eiffelland until later this week, around Thursday-ish, but I'm open to suggestions regarding logistics, timing, etc. I am still working on specific numbers, especially for ground forces.

This is how I imagine the situation looking like now. The center and Dun Glas are now fully disputed, with revolutionaries pushing hard on Marr and the capital, while clan Eoghannach didn't manage to take their ancient capital, Rois, but managed to secure the hinterlands of the Midlands. The Far Northern republic is pushing down with Justosian help, while the far far far north remains disputed, with an Azilian landing being observable in red. Rois remains in Greenshirt hands, but it's quite the chaos with the army collapsing. The Caledonian Free State, being made of Clan Blacach a Dheas (Blacach of the South), Loganach and Comghan are taking over the south.

@Caledonia , in post from the Caledonian Resolution thread, the Caledonian National Council (Republic of Caledonia) is saying a few words. What is its current role? Is that currently one of the three factions you mentioned above, or is that something else?
