Maybe its a really long range reeeaaallly old sub that everyone looked over. Something like the absolute masterpiece film Down Periscope

Either the Josepanians or the Saxons would probably be the best bet, the Caledonians are a bit iffy given their more personal experiences, and the Azilians……… yeah…

That could also work. Him going to Nicosia or perhaps Cervia (given his wife is there) could provide for an ongoing diplomatic incident.

What we could presume, is that King Carlos wanted to go to Cervia in that vintage submarine of his (maybe he stole one from the local maritime museum), but then the submarine broke down, so he had to emerge in Nicosia.

Or indeed there is a seventh extremely secret submarine that we don't know of, so that he takes that one instead of a vintage one from the local maritime museum. I am open for both, and I am also open for King Carlos showing up in Nicosia.
 
The only way that’d work is if the submarine broke down in international waters on the way to Cervia, and somehow came into custody of a Nicosian ship that would take King Carlos past Cervia and to Nicosia. That being said, that WOULD be extraordinarily interesting and not done before in recent memory, so I’m personally in favor of it.
 
My ships rarely go on long sails. However, maybe one of my ships is on a longer distance exercise, answers a distress call, the king requests asylum immediately after being brought on board?

A freighter might actually be the most reasonable option, and all of it happening serendipitously. Either way, I like where it's developing so far.
 
Several months ago, Cervia had messaged me asking to send Carlos to Cervia, i hadn't read this thread and nobody talked with me about it, so I had already promised Cervia i would send Carlos there, which i was what i did in the latest post. Apologies, I guess you could still try and capture him if you want, but Carlos's wife and son are there, {she was pregnant at the time and I am assuming had the baby by now), so that is where he would attempt to go.

Yes, the war is over, but probably a good idea to keep the food shipments flowing in for the civilians in the liberated Far Northern Republic
