I figured as I see more and more parties finding themselves involved in ways, and am not quite sure where this shall all go, that I would get a head start on making the OOC thread for this for all parties currently and into the future for the involvement in this conflict.

@Tyran @Earusea @Sylvania @Josepania @YUANGUO @Oceana

Sounds good. I modified accordingly. Thank you for the clarification.

A quick question, as I may have missed it: are the current/very last events of the story still dated August 22nd?

You must be registered to see images.

1. Oceana is making a move to seize control of the southern island group of Earusea.
2. The initial force committed is based on two carrier battlegroups and one marine battalion. Two more marine battalions are being readied in Oceana.
3. The first target is Osea. Oceana intends to seize the island with its initial force and establish a base of operations there that can isolate the rest of the island chain. The second landing at Eurocon is intended to be a pincer from Osea and Oceana, likely with support of additional reinforcements from Oceana.
4. Oceana has not yet declared war or hostility against Earusea IC. Oceana intends to trigger an incident which will start hostilities when its forces are in place. ICly Oceana does not expect this to genuinely convince the international community, only to create sufficient ambiguity.
5. Oceana's broader goal is to establish a military presence in these islands that will protect the Empire's western approach.
6. A major contributing factor is Emperor Aldric II is dying, he will die at a narratively-appropriate time, and he has decided that he will use his remaining time to gamble on big deeds. His domestic political position is currently very strong.

This is all, of course, IC secret.

But the rebellion is inside farbanti, the rebels only control urban districts.

Right now, the Imperio Apostólico Josepaño is only concerned with evacuating its citizens, nationals, and their family members from the archipelago with everything going down as is.

... granted, it also didn't intend to settle into a long-term occupation in Caledonia a year ago and yet here we are, so we'll see where it goes (OOCly though matches IC: not particularly interested thanks).

I do think that, should things continue to escalate as @Oceana outlined, a dedicated war mod might be needed just to provide clarity and direction during any moments of potential dispute. If folk agree, I'd personally nominate the creator of this thread, @Azilia, to fulfill that role if called upon by any future warring parties.

In good faith of healthy and fun roleplay, I too shall strive to reflect the clarity, as examplary set by @Oceana.
Please, give me a few moments while I work things out. So that all may be clearer and to provide better communication, and with that better coordination.

1. Yuan's prime motivation on an official level here, that is government policy, is to secure its military base deal with Earusea

2. The internal dynamics of Imperial Court Officials trying to score glory for themselves, while keeping government policy, also plays a very important role here. While a government can have policy motivations, they are made after all by a human mind. And humans have their own personalities, some graver than others. And these minds ultimately drive the government machine in whichever way they feel fit. Keyword on feel.

2.a. As of now, there are 3 camps in the Court. Each with a different position on how to deal with the situation. Each camp led by one
(1) The Regent & Chancellor Camp (Diplomatic)
(2) The War Marshal and Others Camp (Looking for Personal Glory through War)
(3) The Chief Secretary and Others Camp (Not convinced with either side)

3. There are some 'Trap Cards' in the works, with one of them involving the Iron Lotus of @Nandao . And depending on how things go, shit might hit the fan.

4. For purposes of what Yuan has in terms of prowess, I will state for brevity sake that it follows IRL China, with adjustments accounting for the lack of shitstirring (that is with the real world) and hence, adjusted motivation for military spending etc (Might need @Azilia to weigh in on this)

5. Ultimately, with the Emperor overseas in Josepania working, the Officials have become more courageous with their personal endeavours, attempts to influence the Regent (the quirk) have increased dramatically. How things go is up to the dynamics being played by each camp, their ideations, and how they react when reality challenges that ideation.

This is all, of course, IC secret.

I will too write down what are my own thoughts and purposes for the "Crimson Rebellion" narration.

As a player, I am not especially interested in roleplay focused on the war itself. My involvement is not about the military front or its mechanics, but about using this stage as a narrative frame.
Through the commission given by Yuan Guo, the Iron Lotus will commit forces to Earusea. For me, this is an opportunity to explore the personality of Zhao Jiang and his connections with both Nandao and Yuan Guo. He was originally conceived as a man who has no bloodline or heirs, who rejects legacy as the others understand it, and who believes only in discipline and strength as a path forward. He was not planned as a a kind of negative reflection of the imperial figure drawn by Oceana, but I dig it so so much.

I now see the Crimson Rebellion as a romanticized confrontation between competing notions of legacy: that of Xin Osa and the rebels, of Yuan Guo’s high officials, of Aldric II of Oceana, of Zhao Jiang himself, of the perhaps weary responsibility of the Josepanians’ and Sylvanians’ leaderships - and maybe others yet to emerge. My approach will be to treat the whole narrative almost as though it were already the subject of a historical novel written many many years later (and possibly without the anachronisms or inaccuracies we normally associate with such a medium).

At the same time, the scenario carries larger implications. Any aggression by the West against the East - with Earusea as its last frontier - can become a catalyst for the rise of the anti-colonial and anti-imperialist sentiment that has long been simmering, with all the inevitable adjustments required by the forum’s historical context. After the narrative success of Harrenausen, and the momentum it created toward imagining institutions reminiscent of the Concert of Nations or even the League of Nations, a clash between an imperialist and colonial power like Oceana and the Eastern giants could serve as another precious stepping stone toward an evolving international system.

Ghosts

the Earusean officials finally recoup and start to open channels again, only with @Tyran and @Josepania , the Earusean navy allows them to enter the waters, and same for the proposal from nandao, the only thing they request from both is to direct any lost Earusean soldiers back to "sector 4"
---
tyran will have two allowed operatonal areas, inside Eurocon and farbanti with access to local materials.
---
josepania will be allowed to the eastern side of Earusean
---
I suppose this post was meant for the IC Thread and not this one? @Earusea

OOC – Clarification on Tyran’s Role

Tyran will not be entering the conflict as a direct invader. Instead, it will act as a largely neutral player with commercial interests in the region. Think of it more as an “NPC merchant with a base of operations,” able to provide weapons, logistical support, and, if needed, troops.

At present, Tyran has no particular interest in maintaining a large, permanent outpost in this area. The region offers limited resources, while the cost of sustaining operations at such distance would be high. Everything will depend on the contracts that are signed: if profits remain modest, Tyran will limit itself to a light outpost with only basic services.

However, should the conflict evolve into a more promising scenario, greater investments could follow. Higher profits would justify the expansion of the outpost and the introduction of more sophisticated tools, services, and potentially even a stronger military presence.

one other thing I would like to ask, do you think it would be a good idea to write about food supplies shortening and electricity going out all over Farbanti? I have been thinking a lot and I might want to do that,

I think that's a reasonable thing to RP given the reprecussions of civil conflict disrupting infrastructure including food and electricity. Go for it

one thing I've also though of was primitive weapons coming into RP, because of no electricity, after a few months a big dent into the ammo goes in and both sides uses rocks, bows, and other primitive weapons, but this would be of course way in the future
