RE: Pannonian civil war and recent Vrijpoort military actions
Dear Sir,
As you are well aware, the Principality of Vrijpoort recently conducted a military incursion into the Thalgau province in the region of West Zara in the country of Pannonia. The reasons for this are many and I shall not endeavour to indulge into great detail here. Put simply, from the Vrijpoorter point of view, this was an existentially necessary action to preserve the very nature and being of our small city-state.
It is no secret, especially due to the uncordial, rude and at times even threatening public and private statements made by your coalition allies Remion and The Federation, that Vrijpoort's standing with these countries has reached a remarkable low. Despite great economic and trade links between Vrijpoort and Remion and The Federation, the Pannonian civil war and events thereof have caused a clash in viewpoints and indeed actions.
Eiffelland is without a shred of doubt a country that Vrijpoort views as integral to the stability and peace of Gallo-Germania and remains one of our closest economic and diplomatic partners, especially now with the de facto disintegration of Pannonia. I believe that our governments see eye to eye on many key issues, including on the Pannonian civil war.
Yes, it is true that my government and yours have taken different positions on many aspects of this most dreadful crisis, but there is much common ground to be discovered and much cooperation to be made.
Senior Minister Melinda Weldaad wants to reset relations with Eiffelland, Remion and The Federation, especially as your triumvirate will most likely be a potent force in Greater Pannonia for quite the foreseeable future. She is, however, not confident that the Remian and Federation governments are currently keen or even capable of sitting down with us Vrijpoorters to discuss the issues at hand. It is therefore, at the personal request of Senior Minister Weldaad, that I as Foreign Minister do humbly request a meeting between the political leaders of our two great countries.
We would like to invite your Chancellor to meet together with the Senior Minister in Vrijpoort at the earliest possible convenience for a frank discussion on the geopolitical events rocking our continent. This need not be a secret meeting. No, in fact we want the world to see that despite our differences over this abhorrent civil war the leaders of two like-minded countries can come together, sit down, break bread and talk, for the sake of regional stability and peace.
The meeting would likely last two days. Senior Minister Weldaad would like to dine with the Chancellor and speak one-on-one. The following day would be for more detailed discussions, perhaps with aides and, if desired by both leaders, a press conference.
The Chancellor and his staff would naturally be invited to stay at the Grand Occidental Hotel in central Vrijpoort on Revonia Island. No expense shall be withheld to ensure the comfort of the delegation.
I do eagerly await your reply and naturally hope very sincerely that Chancellor Rheinfeld accepts Senior Minister Weldaad's invitation.
I wish you every good fortune,
Sir Archibald Pistorius Larchmont, Minister of Overseas Relations and Cooperation Vrijpoort
